Re: Fans Reckon Nintendo Has "Killed" Mario Kart World With Its Latest Update

Guddy

The problem is that the more casual audience likely won’t even notice this change. However, the competitive scene will take a significant hit.

Let’s be honest—intermissions can be fun, but they’re mostly luck-based. Tracks are where actual player skill truly shines.

As many have pointed out, the fix is simple. The real question is whether Nintendo cares enough to implement it.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Mario Kart World

I believe most of the negativity surrounding the game—and the Switch 2 in general—is closely tied to pricing. The game itself is as fun as any other entry in the Mario Kart series. Some tracks stand out more than others, and an option to play a Grand Prix without intermissions would be a welcome addition (not a difficult feature to implement, especially since it already exists in VS mode).

The game occasionally feels slower than previous entries, likely due to the wider track design. However, that sensation fades once you hit the narrower sections. A balanced 200cc mode—maybe something like 175cc? 😄—could really help here.

I also think comparisons to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe are a bit unfair. That game has been around for years and has received a ton of DLC. The original Wii U version, in terms of content, wasn’t significantly richer than MKWorld.

I agree that the open-world component could use more polish, but—and this is a personal opinion—I’ve always seen it as a bonus rather than the core experience.

Overall, I’d give it a solid 8/10, just like I rated MK8 when it first launched.

Re: "Don't Let Nintendo Ruin The Entire Industry" - Is $80 For Mario Kart World A Bridge Too Far?

Guddy

I’m not really here to defend Nintendo’s decision, but in the end, the market will regulate itself. If you think it’s too expensive, don’t buy it—simple as that.

Personally, an extra ±$10 won’t affect my monthly budget, and I rarely buy more than 5–6 games a year, so it doesn’t bother me. That said, I understand the frustration.

Anecdotally, I come from the NES/SNES generation, where games regularly cost up to $100.

Re: The First Review For Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity Is Now In

Guddy

I never tried a Warriors game before and the demo left me puzzled. It's is probably part of the game design to have countless of brain dead enemies in a semi-constant idle animation, often not even facing you while you slap their sorry backsides...it just doesn't click for me.

The framerate was not an issue. It might not meet the modern standards but old gamers experienced much worse than this.

Re: Soapbox: Nintendo's Riding High On Switch's Wave, But What Does It Need To Do To Stay There?

Guddy

For old gamers like myself (a.k.a not a lot of time for gaming) there is nothing like "software drought". With the releases of the past 10 months I could probably play forever.

Besides, I find a little delusional expecting big 3rd-party AAA titles (geez I hate this word) to be ported on the Switch. The console is simply not powerful enough for modern releases (ok DOOM is pretty decent...).

I would be happy with some tailor-made game however. It is also true that the more causal Nintendo audience is normally reticent to buy anything not Nintendo related so I understand big studios for being cautions with exclusives.
