Re: Poll: Do You Have An Issue With Xenoblade Chronicles' Accents?

Green_Shyguy

I love the British accents in Xenoblade, especially Nia and Morag's voices in XC2. It feels like the accents are part of the series identity.

It's refreshing to hear them, especially when the majority of English voices and localizations in games are American, to the extent that the name of Paper Mario "Color" Splash wasn't even changed for the European release

Re: Feature: Just Who The Heck Is Terry Bogard, Smash Bros. Ultimate's Latest DLC Fighter?

Green_Shyguy

I'm well over 25 (;_;) and this is the first Smash character that I'd literally never heard of before. But then Smash is one of the few fighting games I've ever paid any attention to so that's not too surprising.

I can understand why people might feel a bit put out at a complete stranger (to them) being added to the roster but there's no denying his place in history and it's silly to say he doesn't belong just because you don't know him. A lot of people are obviously very happy with this so I'm happy for them.

One thing I love about Smash is it has encouraged me to check out the history of characters I might not have looked into otherwise.

I have to say that a lot of the "real gamer" comments are as bad as the tweets in the article.. I'm rolling my eyes at both extremes here.

(side note: I know who Sans is but can't stand him and didn't really like Undertale so not knowing who Terry is doesn't automatically mean someone is an Undertale fan)

Re: Side With Pancakes Or Waffles In The Upcoming Splatoon 2 Splatfest

Green_Shyguy

@Trajan Mostly when I hear about breakfast waffles it's in American TV shows, like Eggos in Stranger Things. Now that you say it I don't actually know the difference between them, I've always imagined waffles to be pancakes with holes in them.

I've since remembered the existence of Belgian waffles so I guess they are a European thing too

Re: Soapbox: Pokémon GO’s ‘Casual’ Influence On The Mainline Series Is A Good Thing, At Least For Now

Green_Shyguy

I'm amazed that so many people seem to find the Pokemon games complicated!

I don't care about the competitive stuff, my concerns are about how catching/training will work

If you have to catch 50 Pikachus to get enough candies to evolve it like in Go, that will be more tedious than random battles.

To catch a rare Pokemon will you have to constantly leave and re-enter an area until it spawns on the map, hope you can get to it without touching any of the other Pokemon on the map, and hope it doesn't flee after breaking out of the first ball you throw? I deleted Pokemon Go for good after that happened to me with a Chansey

I'll make up my mind on these games when there's more information about how it will all work

Re: Soapbox: What The Upcoming Pokémon Switch RPG Can Learn From Recent Pokémon Games

Green_Shyguy

I don't agree with all points, I'd hate a new generation with no new Pokemon, but I agree the Switch is their chance to give things a much needed shake up.

I would like to have a much less linear region to explore with no handholding or constant stop/starting for unwanted story scenes - that's my biggest complaint about Gen VII, especially the first few hours. I don't really care about the story or human characters in Pokemon games.

Re: Poll: Surprise! A New Zelda Is In Development, But What Do You Want From It?

Green_Shyguy

I'm not a big fan of open world games in general so didn't really like BotW and it's one of my least favourite Zeldas. I felt like it could have been re-skinned with a non-Zelda IP and I wouldn't have noticed the difference so I'm worried about my future enjoyment of the series, which I have loved up until now.

The general style of BotW could work with a drastically smaller world filled with proper dungeons and better puzzles, and the awful weapon breaking/cooking/rain mechanics stripped out.

Re: Guide: Super Mario Odyssey: Mushroom Kingdom Power Moon Locations And Walkthrough

Green_Shyguy

@Damo A month and a half isn't that long, especially when many people like me aren't getting the game until Christmas, not that I personally care about seeing the Kingdom names but I can understand why it bothers some people. Especially when you could just say "We've added a new kingdom to our Odyssey guide, click for details"

But then you'd have people complaining you've gradually spoiled how many kingdoms there are in total by counting up all the articles or something, so you can't win. I dont envy you trying to provide the site with interesting content about newly released games while trying to avoid everyones individual definition of spoilers

To be fair, Nintendolife is good for not posting pictures of newly revealed Pokemon on the front page before new games come out, which is something I care far more about. Game Freak really don't like their fans to be surprised or make new discoveries in-game.

To finally go on-topic, I can't wait to see this Kingdom, sounds fun!

Re: Video: Adorable Super Mario Odyssey Easter Egg Plays Catchy Tunes Like a Music Box

Green_Shyguy

I don't watch trailers for games I know I'm interested in to avoid spoilers. Not too bothered about seeing this chef outfit but can understand why people might be, there was another article with a thumbnail of an outfit I'd rather not have seen. Why not use a generic logo as the thumbnail for an article about a new game many people won't have played/finished yet so people can decide if they want to click in or not? I'm not getting Odyssey until Christmas and I doubt I'm the only one.

Re: Feature: A Long Journey Through Metroid Prime: Federation Force

Green_Shyguy

I can understand why people were annoyed by it when it was announced but I was always open to trying this game so I got it cheap on sale. The first boss I fought overwhelmed me and seemed clearly designed for multiple players to fight so I never went back. Shame the game doesn't seem to scale up or down for the number of players including solo players, that might have solved some of the issues people have with it being mainly multiplayer.

I'd be open to trying it online, this writeup makes it sound more fun.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think of the Pokémon Direct and Its Big Reveals?

Green_Shyguy

I'm not interested in Pokken and find the GB Pokemon games a bit too old to be enjoyable these days, especially since I have HG/SS, but I'm interested to find out more about US/UM. If they are as different as Black and White 2 were to Black and White I'll be very excited. I'm glad they'll be on 3DS because I don't have a Switch yet but a lot of people seem disappointed so it's a shame they can't be on both systems to keep everyone happy.

Re: Mythical Pokémon Keldeo Confirmed for Anniversary Distribution in October

Green_Shyguy

@Phil_Kavadias Why did you put up Illumise for Volcanion? Just curious if there's something special about Illumise in this case

Got my Keldeos - I'm glad they've started doing these events over wifi as well as a lot of us don't have any shops in our countries which host them. The UK and Ireland distribution for Volcanion is being done through Game, even though there are no Game stores in Ireland..

Re: Metroid Prime: Federation Force Flops on UK Debut

Green_Shyguy

To those who have played it, how is the single player? I've seen some reviews say it is badly balanced and eventually becomes too difficult to complete on your own? Focusing on multiplayer at the expense of single player is a big turn off for me. I might have been more open to trying this if Triforce Heroes hadn't made me wary of what to expect.

Re: Metroid Prime: Federation Force Power Bombs in Japan

Green_Shyguy

I have no problem with Nintendo trying new things with their franchises but I can understand why people are so unhappy about this game.

I won't be buying it because I have no interest in FPS games, especially multiplayer ones, especially with the control compromises that come from being on a handheld.

I hope this isn't the end of Metroid

Re: Review: Pokémon Picross (3DS eShop)

Green_Shyguy

@sorpayn I think the last 2 paragraphs of the review before the conclusion do a good job of explaining the problems people have with the design and pricing structure of this game.

It's only free to play because it's designed to get players sucked in so that it can use artificial restrictions to frustrate them into spending way more than the usual cost of an eShop Picross game to access the same amount of content.

Re: Review: Pokémon Picross (3DS eShop)

Green_Shyguy

Played it, loved it, hit an F2P paywall, deleted it.

I'd have paid €10 to €15 for this on the eShop but the full price to unlock everything is way too expensive.

It's so disappointing that Nintendo have gone down this money grabbing route at the expense of good game design.

Re: Poll: Nintendo's Free-to-Play Experiments - Are You Still Playing?

Green_Shyguy

I don't like this Free to Play trend at all. I deleted Pokémon Shuffle and Badge Arcade immediately when they had the cheek to appear on my home screen by themselves.

Free to Play games are designed to trick or annoy players into spending more and more money by imposing artifical limits. It's depressing to see Nintendo buying into this cash grab model instead of designing games to be as fun as possible for the player, like they used to.

I'm deeply disappointed that Pokémon Picross is going to be Free to Play as it combines two of my favourite series. If it was available as a once off purchase at a standard eShop price I'd be very excited about it but I've no interest in a Picross game that's going to suddenly lock me out unless I pay up.

I would like if these games at least came with two pricing options, free to play for those who want it, or pay full eShop price for unlimited access to all content, like a normal game.

Re: GameStop Cancels European Rosalina amiibo Pre-Orders as the Scrabble for Stock Continues

Green_Shyguy

I'm just going to collect my favourite characters from my favourite Nintendo series and leave it at that, the stock issues are too offputting. I live in Ireland so I'm glad I don't want Rosalina after reading this!

Think how much money Nintendo would be making if they could actually supply the stock to meet demand. I wonder if they took on too much, trying to make all the Smash characters in awkward poses as the first ever set of Amiibos.

Re: Nintendo Download: 15th January (Europe)

Green_Shyguy

I own Swords and Soldiers on the Wii and have done the system transfer to my Wii U. Does anyone know if that qualifies me for the discount? Failing that, if I buy one of the games full price can I get the discount on the rest? I would love to get Guacamelee and Teslagrad.
