@K1LLEGAL I couldn't finish Three Houses. After a battle, getting stuck for a month inside talking to people was SO LAME. Tea time? No thanks. Support conversations? Hell no. Send someone flowers? No way. What made the earlier games so good with the characters was me imagining who they were, not being spoon fed a lame middle school drama.
@Rockboy247 If you like petting people and having long drawn out conversations that you have no real control over other than being there, get Three Houses/Fates. If you want to play a strategy game get any of the others besides the Warriors ones or Tokyo Mirage.
I really feel that including the Warriors games and Tokyo Mirage was a bad move. Those aren't mainline FE games and I feel they were added to pad the count.
Applying the Moguri Mod on the Switch version of Final Fantasy IX. I'm playing it on my PC right now and it's so much better. The Switch version is so painful in comparison.
It doesn't seem like they've slowed production down on Switch. Like at all. I got my kids each a Switch Lite for Christmas this year and they were selling out all over the place but getting restocked about two times a week. The Switch has a pretty big year coming up as far as games releasing. The well doesn't seem to be running dry. I think there will be rumors or leaks by the end of this year, an official announcement sometime in June 2024 and the console will release sometime in 2025.
I really hope the next Nintendo console is a straight ahead console with no gimmick. No handheld functionality, no swapping out controllers to it. Just a powerful Nintendo console that plays new games and can carry over your digital Switch games. If it's anything besides that I am moving to another console next cycle. I love Nintendo, but I am tired of the lack of backwards compatibility. I am not buying the same god damn games again. They've milked me since the Wii and I am dry baby, aint no milk left in these udders. I'm spent Nintendo! (shrivels and dies)
EDIT: My initial intention for this rant was to say that Nintendo should try copying everyone else for a change to flip the script and leave all these companies holding the gimmick bag.
Man the only thing that rivals my initial excitement for this game is how much I absolutely don't care about it now. If they had released the game closer to their announcement I might have bought it.
@nocdaes I never encountered any of those issues. I know they are patching stuff to address things people have run into (very few of the things you mention) but the game hasn't crashed on me and no reboots. Maybe some hiccup here and there. But I've just been following the story and doing the stuff with zero crashes or anything like that.
I'm chalking this game up to the Hype Machine. I bought it, hit no bugs, enjoyed it maybe not as much as Golf Story so far (time will tell) but none the less. I think most people complaining haven't actually played it but can't avoid that main character syndrome of chirping in on something they know nothing about except general consensus.
@Rika_Yoshitake California is rad AF, I bet you live in some land-locked hellhole where they eat frosting straight from the container while complaining about all the jobs taken from them by other people "nontfrumrounhere".
Sad news, I've been taking mine out for years in my laptop bag. I would have my wife throw it in her purse for shopping trips and stuff like that. I haven't gotten a hit in like three years.
@electrolite77 Did you ever play BOTW? If so, you know how there's a Shika Slate in the game? Hmm? HMMMM? Yeah, missed that one didn't you? Big girls blouse.
@DaniPooo LIES! You maligner! Look, Sure they added some things, like Bowser's Fury to Super Mario World. I don't think that's better. The Wii U GamePad was integral to extra fun in that game. Bowser's Fury is nice, but taking the GamePad away just makes the game less than. Also Bowser's Fury was only alright.
Two player Captain Toad? Ok. Thanks? The GamePad integration was also stellar on that game too.
Someone else brought up performance upgrades. IF there are they are so slight you couldn't tell without some company like ars techinca pointing it out to you specifically. The Wii U was a beast. It could absolutely do what the Switch does and more. It was a huge missed opportunity for Nintendo and the general public. The Switch is great, but it's one step closer to mediocre than I like Nintendo to be.
I play this with my family quite a bit still. We are big fans of working together in video games. Lovers in a Dangerous Space Time scratches the same itch KIND OF, but this one is amazing. I dread the day my Wii U dies.
Is it worth it to leave a comment this far down? Probably not, but if I can even get one person on board it might be.
Gotta Protectors is AMAZING! It is one of my favorite games. Great multiplayer arcade action, super funny, great art. It's quite the package. And if you have a 3DS the one on there is also very good and you should get it before it's gone.
The Switch is pretty great, but the Wii U had it beat by a few yards. It was the better console and idea. People slept on it and since most people are stupid they were like "is dis a nu controllers fer my Wii?!?!" and they ruined it. Wii U + 3DS was absolute pimp Nintendo.
It didn't come out this year, and I've been playing it since it came out on Wii U, but this has probably been my biggest Mario Kart 8 year with the new tracks. If possible I would vote it my GOTY. Boo Lake. Boo Lake. I will say it again. Boo Lake.
Alright I spent all night playing it. It's good. It might look like Into the Breach, but it plays MUCH differently to it. The soundtrack is amazing, the visual style holds up beyond still pictures and looks amazing. As a fan of turn based tactics games, this is incredibly well done. As of right now I would give this game an easy 10/10. But that's only after 6 hours of game time. I will report back once I finish it to see if that changes. But holy heck this is a good one.

Re: Review: Fire Emblem Engage - Relationships Get Sidelined By A Thrilling Combat-First Focus
So a 10/10 for me then. I hate the social mini games that had become a staple in the series. Looking forward to this one.
Re: Review: Sonic Spinball (Virtual Console / Sega Mega Drive)
I love this game. The release on the Genesis Switch collection got me back into it. It’s so good! And the music kicks butt.
Re: Uh Oh, It Looks Like More Super Mario Bros. Movie Toys Have Leaked
Sucks they made them so small.

Re: Simon Pegg Is Heading Back To School As Hogwarts Legacy's Headmaster
If it takes off and does well we could get more games with wizards and wands instead of soldiers and guns.

Re: Random: Indie Dev Giving Away Free Game Codes Until Nintendo Closes Wii U & 3DS eShops
@Res462 My local Meijer had new 2DS XL's on the shelves a little over a year ago. I remember because I bought one.
Re: Switch Online's 'Missions & Rewards' Adds Nintendo Switch Sports Icons
Thanks Nintendo, for reminding me how absolutely ass the Golf update is.

Re: Random: Indie Dev Giving Away Free Game Codes Until Nintendo Closes Wii U & 3DS eShops
@Sciqueen Especially when you could still buy them at a retail location a little over a year ago. Super lame.

Re: Random: Here's A Closer Look At Every Mario Movie McDonald's Toy
I'm going with neither. Both are weak and not worth the damage they cause.

Re: Best Of 2022: After 10 Years I Finally Got A Wii U, Here’s What I Thought
@glaemay It can't play GameCube games.
EDIT: The original Wii could play GameCube games, but the Wii U does not have that functionality.
Re: Game Freak's Secret Best Game Is No Longer 3DS Exclusive
On one hand, awesome. More people get to play it. On the other hand, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Re: Feature: Nintendo Switch Ports We'd Love To See In 2023
@VGFreak1225 While I agree (it's the best Xenoblade game hands down), I hope they don't port it.
Re: Feature: Nintendo Switch Ports We'd Love To See In 2023
Shadow of Mordor and Vampire Survivors are the only ones I would like to see on Switch. The rest are just fine as PC games.

The three of you are great together. You really should start a podcast.
Re: Best Of 2022: Which Is The Absolute Best Nintendo Console Generation?
@electrolite77 It did, because of the GamePad integration. I love how upset you are by this though lol

@electrolite77 I have both consoles and you are deeply, deeply mistaken.
Re: Best Of 2022: Which Is The Absolute Best Nintendo Console Generation?
@Azuris Yes. BOTW ran better on the Wii U. And having the Shika slate in your hands was the icing on the cake.
Re: Best Of 2022: Which Is The Absolute Best Nintendo Console Generation?
@DaniPooo The ports are not superior versions. lol They are the SAME. Wii U was 1080p. I guess they changed the controls a little? lol

It didn't come out this year, and I've been playing it since it came out on Wii U, but this has probably been my biggest Mario Kart 8 year with the new tracks. If possible I would vote it my GOTY. Boo Lake. Boo Lake. I will say it again. Boo Lake.
