Re: Monster Movie Strategy Game 'Kaiju Wars' Crashes Onto Switch Today

Goofonzo

@Kiwi_Unlimited There are plenty of games where you control the Kaiju. Though it's been a while, and most of them were fighting games. I can't think of any Kaiju games besides this one where you fight them strategically. I think it looks super rad.

Maybe you should check out Kaiju Rancher on Switch. That's a fun one.

Re: Nintendo Announces New Child-Led YouTube Series, 'Kids Play!'

@fakemaze739 I am not saying anyone else making it or enjoying it is wrong. I find it weird and a huge waste of time. That's just a me thing. I don't like my kids watching them. It has no value, to me. Unfortunately for my kids they live with me, so they can't do that at home. I'll sit down with them and play a game with them. We can talk about it together. I guess I get it if you're lonely or something. But watching someone else play a game? That you don't know? ...why? That's so lame! ...to me.

Re: Final Fantasy 1 To 6 Have Been Rated For Nintendo Switch By The ESRB

@Fizza I've only played VI, and it's the game in it's entirety. The updated graphics are a mixed bag. Since the original game was made for CRT televisions the real OG game looks bad on modern screens. So what they've done to it looks better than a straight port. It doesn't look as good, to me, as it did in the way way back time.

So if you want to play the game and don't have an SNES with the FFVI cart, this is the best way to play the game.

If you have something that can play PS1 games, there are anthology sets with two FF games a piece on them, and those are about as close to original you can get beyond playing the original.

Re: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Has Been Updated To Version 2.2.0, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

So I messed with Custom Items last night. That's really wonky. Some friends and I played and we removed boomerangs, fire flowers, triple bananas, triple green shells and the all 8 items item.

THERE WERE SO MANY BLUE SHELLS!!!! So we tried turning blue shells off too. NOOOOOO! NOOOOO! Too many red shells, like, RED SHELL HELL.

So we ended up just not messing with it and it was much, much better.

We do plan on playing where the only items are bullet bills though.

Re: Mini Review: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass Wave 3 - The Best Set Of Tracks Yet

Goofonzo

Nobody is going to read this so here it goes.

Played all 8 several times last night. Boo Lake, Merry Mountain and 3DS Rainbow Road were the best, hands down. Boo Lake is probably my favorite course in the whole game. It's so good. Those extremely tight turns are beyond satisfying. Merry Mountain came out at just the right time. I don't know why that one is so good but the rest of the Tour courses are hot garbage (that said the bridge in London is very fun to hit when it's up). The most disappointing courses for me were Rock Rock Mountain and Maple Treeway. I loved those courses so much on their original hardware that it was hard to live up to my expectations. Maple Treeway seemed shorter somehow, and the wigglers were absolutely no threat, and they need to be a threat for the course to be fun. Though I was glad to see the half pipe jump put back in from it's 3DS version removal. Rock Rock Mountain was dissapointing because they removed some of the fun little details to the course. The jump at the first turn was removed. Why? And again this course seemed shorter than it's original version, and to test that out I got my 3DS out and booted up Mariokart 7. Sure enough, the 3DS version is a longer course, with more satisfying jumps and details.

So Nintendo, keep it up! Except stop bringing these hot garbage dumpster fire courses from Tour. Nobody gives a ***** about Tour. Stop trying to make Tour happen.

EDIT: Just thought about this. They should have made the item blocks in Merry Mountain presents. Big whif.

@dartmonkey I totally get defending your guy here. I would do the same if I was you. 100%. Spot on.

However, being a big girls blouse because everyone went to the comments to take a huge dumper on the score should indicate that the community strongly disagrees with your colleague. Don't get defensive, get the white board out and make a plan. Write in big letters "TRENT DOESN'T GET TO REVIEW TURN BASED STRATEGY GAMES ANYMORE" on it and move on.

@kkslider5552000 If you spend time with it you will see that there are ways to mitigate what the reviewer was talking about. And the point of the game in one aspect is to improve your squad. So starting out being amazing would make that later game less enthralling. It's a whole package thing. It's about leveling up, getting better equipment. It's like that on purpose (and not as bad as the reviewer made it sound.)
