Re: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Breaks Series Records With US Launch Sales

GiooiG

I did not double dip on this game because I was felt obligated to, to support Nintendo (wtf), due to a supposed lack of games on a 2 month old console or any other reason some people on here tell me why I bought it. I bought it because I want it and have enjoyed the hell out of it all weekend and have had my moneys worth already. £38 without having to trade in my Wiiu version. Hell I paid more to watch Guardians of the Galaxy at the cinema on fri.

Re: Turns Out That Leaked Nintendo Switch Was Stolen And Illegally Resold

GiooiG

@Untempered-Link @Finntendo No I think stealing and leaking this information out is justified because myself and around 2 million other people are spending £300 for a system that we still dont know everything about.
I put down the money in January having faith that Nintendo would release more information. Nintendo has failed to do such a thing and so I have no qualms about somebody taking it into their own hands to provide us with such information.

I've heard it all now lol

Re: Talking Point: Lack of Nintendo Switch Details Close to Launch Made Wobbly Cam 'Leaks' Inevitable

GiooiG

@invictus4000 Do we really have to know every last little detail down to how the UI looks? I think what Nintendo has shown is completely fine and starting it up on launch day to explore the system will be fun.

I agree. Yes there are still things I want to know, like yesterday, but the thirst for any little details regarding Switch is insatiable. No matter how much is revealed people want more. You have people on sites like Reddit saying they are on there 24/7 constantly refreshing for any tidbit of information.

I'm sold with what's shown so far, launch day buy for me. To those who say they pre-ordered but still have to know this or need to know that before launch, don't get it at launch, wait till you get the information you absolutely need before laying a ton of money down.

Re: ARM Confirms That The Nintendo Switch's Chipset Is Very Close To Tegra X1 Spec

GiooiG

@Yasume
Aaaand another reason why the system will fail. You can say bye-bye to 3rd party support now, which means it will be another Wii U.
Can't believe people still have faith in this system. How much of a fanboy can someone be?

I'm just curious, I've seen many (too many ) of your posts on many threads and you use the word ''fanboy'' like a weapon against anybody who disagrees with your vision of ''Nintendoom'' Do you use this phrase outside of gaming against people who may genuinely like something you clearly do not or may have a favourite food, colour, football team etc than you do ?

Don't worry you're not '' Getting attacked by a fanboy '' Far from it. I'm just curious.

Re: Editorial: Pricing Blunders Have Distorted The Narrative Around Nintendo Switch

GiooiG

@JaxonH

I'm in UK but I do shop around. BOTW is £10 cheaper some places already, some other prices have dropped and I expect some more cuts before release. I won't be paying rrp but saying that i'm happy with say BOTW and snipperclips or Bomberman (multiplayer / variety ) for a while. Pointless getting lots of games and having a backlog day one of a consoles life. BOTW will keep me busy for a long time but I could do with at least one other game for variety, other people to play or multiplayer fun and i'm afraid 1-2 switch isn't it lol.
Thanks.

Re: Editorial: Pricing Blunders Have Distorted The Narrative Around Nintendo Switch

GiooiG

I think if there were more great launch games it would give the vocal haters more fuel. '' OMG, if I get the switch on launch day with Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Skyrim, Monster Hunter, Bomberman. a charging dock I don't really need, an extra pair of joycons I don't really need straight away, a pro controller that I've got to have but don't need, a charging grip, not essential, a case, extra power adapter, 2TB micro sd card when it comes out etc etc it would be mega expensive '' Nintendo is doomed !!! Should go the way of Sega and just make games because I'm a fanboy / girl and so want to play your games but won't buy any rival hardware no matter how good it is.

Great editorial @ThomasBW84 a fair reflection on the pro's and con's because there are pro's and con's, so much so that after the presentation I went from 1000% getting this to '' I think I may cancel my pre order on Monday ''

I haven't cancelled it, i'm really looking forward to it. Yes I was shocked at the price and lack of pack in game but on reflection I think it's fair, but could have done with 1-2 Switch packed in. To be fair launch prices for PS4 and XBone were way higher and also didn't have a great launch line up and were bulked out with remasters from last gen and had expensive games and accessories. I do think though that the games are overpriced for Switch, even accounting for a small premium for it being cartridge ( not cheap disc ) A title like Zelda can just about get away with it and feel more worth the premium price but when less premium / developed games are the same price or slightly lower than a game that costs a fortune to develop like BOTW i cannot justify or afford to pick them up at launch no matter how much I want Bomberman, I can't afford it day one and I won't pay it which leads to the age old '' They only buy Nintendo games'' argument and 3rd parties abandon ship. But i'm realistic, I don't expect to be able to pick up a launch day console that can do what the Switch does and still be able to afford all the games and accessories that go with it. Ok I need a game to go with it but I can choose and the console has everything else I need to provide a two player experience and charge my joycons day one.

Rumour mongers who build up price and spec expectations to unrealistic levels for whatever ulterior motives. Keyboard warriors and fanboys who feel the need to post their objections and opinions over and over again on every post on every site imaginable and cannot comprehend any opinions or choices outside of their own. Nintendo, who can please and frustrate in equal measure. I think they are starting to listen and change things but at their own pace. Hope they can up their pace a little but also not change too much, I like Nintendo being a little different than the same old same old.

Tough times for Nintendo, games get bigger, development costs and development time increase, even AAA games are discounted weeks after release, day one dlc, season passes etc to claw back costs. More reason to respect them valuing their ip's so much although I think they could show this more by using them a little better than they have lately (federation farce etc ) and be a little more flexible with pricing for older games but it's worrying in an increasingly entitled throwaway culture that Nintendo have no control over.

Anyway I've waffled too much, i'm getting it day one and can't wait and will put up with the pro's and con's of my decision.

Re: Nintendo Switch Memory Can Be Expanded Up To 2TB

GiooiG

I'm glad they've done it this way, I buy mainly physical but will probably download some vc (hopefully transfer my Wiiu VC library ) or snipperclips type games that are download only so will get a sd card, probably 128gb for now. At least I can choose what investment I want to put into storage space. I can also shop around and do it in my own time rather than Nintendo pander to the negative nancy's and '' I only buy digital crowd '' and pass on the resulting cost to me in an even more expensive Switch.

As for my ps4 & xbone, that 500gb on my ps4 fills up pretty quick with all the installs and day 1 patches even when you do buy physical. If I want more storage I've got to take it apart and install a bigger internal drive. Same with my Xbone regarding the initial 500gb filling up without even trying. At least with the Xbox it's as simple as just plugging an external dive in and it's so easy to manage swapping things from internal to external. You can even take just your hard drive to a friends house, sign in and play your games at their house.

With the Switch i'd try to get as much on my sd, keeping as much space free as possible on the Switch's internal

Re: Guide: Deals and Pre-Orders for The Nintendo Switch, Games And Accessories

GiooiG

@meherenow
Not used them much but when I have the delivery has been excellent. Think it was project zero arrived a day early.

I only mentioned it as an option. I would have preferred to go with Nintendo but I have an early pre order in elsewhere which I can pick up on the day and the pre orders usually go quick on there.

Who knows, all pre orders in stores don't seem to be filled at the moment but if they do and if somebody wants one asap surely 3 days after launch ( Think Nintendo UK would get it to you on launch day tbh ) is better than waiting for a restock.

Re: Guide: Where To Pre-Order The Nintendo Switch, Games And Accessories

GiooiG

Just spotted.
UK - Nintendo.co.uk have pair of joycons £69.99 £5 cheaper, the Pro Controller £59.99 £5 cheaper and single joycons £39.99 £3 cheaper than other stores atm.

They do free delivery if you spend over £20 which has been very good when I've used them but I've never used them for a console launch.

Re: Soapbox: The Switch Presentation Was Good, but Not Perfect

GiooiG

You're right ThanosReXXX28 i'm just gutted because I was ready to pick it up day one, so ready lol, Nintendo had done so well getting hype and interest in the Switch going then seemed to blow it in a 1 hour presentation. I will get one but can't justify day one. I just hope Ninty hasn't blown the momentum they had going.

Re: Soapbox: The Switch Presentation Was Good, but Not Perfect

GiooiG

I think if Nintendo have any more launch or launch window games to announce / tease they need to do it quick because as a Wiiu owner I went from 200% getting this at launch to erm!! I think i'll wait and see what happens / wait for Mario in December.

One game, Zelda that I can play on Wiiu, much cheaper and nothing much till Mario surely has put a lot of Wiiu owners off, especially after being burned with the Wiiu. ( I think Nintendo will look back and regret doing the right thing and not cancelling the Wiiu version )

Price ! Console, games and accessories all too expensive. MK8 Deluxe £50, ok if you never owned it but £50 for improved battle mode and arenas and 3? new characters? If they'd have put a couple of more cups in there too then I would have double dipped. Where's Yookalaylee? I so wanted to play this on switch. It's £29 to preorder on Xbone and PS4 and will get cheaper. Will probably arrive later on Switch and most likely be £50 - £60. Same with Skyrim.

I was going to cancel my preorder yesterday but will delay this a little longer in the hope some things are being held back for some strange reason but if this is it then I can't justify laying down £340 to play BOTW when I can play it on my Wiiu for £38. It so would have been different if there was another AAA game like Mario on launch or the following month.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think of the Nintendo Switch Presentation?

GiooiG

Was a 100% launch day purchase before the presentation, I already had my preorder sorted weeks ago. Now ? hmmmm!! Only one game for me at launch, Zelda. £38 preordered on Amazon months ago or Switch £279.99 plus Zelda £59.99 and nothing else to play for months. I was still going to double dip on Mariokart 8 deluxe but not at £50 when I have it and the dlc on Wiiu. I was thinking of picking up Skyrim too, held off on getting the remastered version on xbone for this very reason.

Personally it looks like I may wait till nearer Xmas when the new Mario is out and I don't think i'll be on my own, I've seen many people cancelling or not bothering to pick it up day 1 now which will affect 3rd parties jumping on board. This thing needed to sell like hotcakes day one and have a positive buzz and prior to the presentation it looked like it would. Heroes to zeroes in a hour due to a poor presentation, high price without a game, weak launch lie up and very expensive games and peripherals. How do they do it?

Hopefully some more announcement over the weekend or next few weeks will stop me from cancelling my preorder.

Re: Feature: What We Expect from the Nintendo Switch Presentation

GiooiG

As well as the usual games line up, decent power, VC, Zelda at launch etc I would like to register more than one switch to my profile / account ( My Nintendo ) We may need more than 1 Switch in the house if it lives up to expectations. Can see me getting lynched if I try to take the only Switch in the house to work etc.
Can remember having a few Gamecube's, then Wii's around the house, all with separate Club Nintendo accounts.

I'm sure I posted this about an hour ago on a very similar post on this very site ???
