@JasonH I have both ZombiU and Blacklist and your right. Zombi Plays ok, yeh its got a few bugs but then it was launch title where the developers were making the game on new hardware they were getting used to, Used in-complete dev kits to begin with at least and were making an all new game using the WiiU's unique capabilities rather than a port like just about every other non-nintendo launch game was.
Blacklist really shows how much Ubisoft has learned about the WiiU, and my die hard Sony Fan Brother-in-Law even admits The WiiU version looks and plays better than his Ps3 version. (though its still great on ps3) He even said to me that if games on Ps4 are going to have second screen functions as standard but via the Vita or Smartphone/Tablet app he'd rather have a WiiU for the gamepad as on WiiU it makes sence, but switching between the controller and second device for second screen features is a stupid idea. (In reality knowing him he'd buy games with dual screen features on WiiU and those without for Ps4 meaning I know for a fact we won't not buy a Ps4 but coud end up getting a WiiU aswell)
Since both Ubisoft and EA are both going to bring second screen gaming to ps3 and Xbone via a Apps on smart devices and if my self-confessed Sony Fanboy In-Law is anything to go by could work in WiiU's favour.
@Sceptic EA not suppoting WiiU has Nothing to do with sales, the abandoned WiiU before last christmas unofficially, at a time WiiU was selling extremely well and even became the fastest selling HD system to reach 1 million world wide sales, but waited untill after Need For Speed was released on WiiU to make thier decision Public. In the meantime, EA and Microsoft announce thier Partnership, EA put out many proven lies/mis-information regarding WiiU and its capabilities. But what ever EA was hoping for blew up in thier faces when Sony didn't restrict DRM rights like Microsofts initial Xbone Drm rights restrictions and then Microsoft had to u-turn on thier drm restrictions.
Translation- Unfortunatly our partnership with microsoft revolved around the Xb1 drm policies, which effectivly shut down trading and sharing of games. Now Microsoft have u-turned on the drm policies for Xb1 we won't be able to get the revenue we anticipated. As a result we will bring games to WiiU but since we decided to abandon all game development for WiiU before we had even launched Need For Speed on WiiU, and we are too late into development to start bringing current projects to WiiU we wont be able to make any WiiU announcments untill our next development cycle. In the meantime, a bit like the u-turn statement regarding the Fostbyte engine and compatability/performance statements firstly stating WiiU can't run it then saying actually the WiiU is easily capable we at EA will occassionly put out press statements that praise the WiiU, totally contradicting the various past press statements we've released and use size of the WiiU's userbase as a reason why we at EA are holding off game announcments even though we know that at least one if not both of the new systems to be released by Microsoft and Sony will more than likely have a simular sized userbase than the WiiUs for at least 18months in a worse case scenario for WiiU.
@Samurai_Goroh Pre-orders seem to be through the roof, particularly for Ps4. However Sony were saying months ago about not being able to meet pre-order demand and at that time most places weren't taking pre-orders. I smell Manufacturing throttling going on. It happened with Xbox360, which was denied but proven to be the case once the actuall sytem sales figures for the launch period were published. It's always looks good to have headlines saying system X sold out due to demand beyond expectations, even if a couple of monts down the line Figures show demend could of been met.
The general consensus for this (the next) gen transition from the current gen is its going to be a slow transistion, regardless of the platform, even Ms/Sony are telling people that most games on the next gen systems will appear on current gen and will continue to do so for a good number of years. System improvments are more to do with features rather than graphical leaps, all current gen and next gen systems are getting the same games (inc WiiU once those publishers with thier heads up the behinds of MS/Sony get a sudden jolt of reality next year) and like it or not iOS and particularly Android are also taking a chunk of the gaming public, especially with the likes of Ouya and Shield systems out now/soon. Todays Gaming Marketplace is in a totally different place than it was 7/8 years ago and untill something major comes along that makes gaming take a massive leap again as it was going from 2D sprites to 3D polygons then on to HD graphics there won't be a transition from one generation to the next as fast or as strong as previously seen.
Seems Sega released in the Wrong territory, I've seen no end of forum posts, and relayed article responses from the West wanting Yakuza HD released in the West, both from UK and US WiiU owners. With Poor sales of this in Japan it could go in one of two ways.. Sega hoping to recoup losses cheaply localize it for the West and release it as a eStore only download (cheapest way of distribution) or Write the game off as a lost cause and if they had plans to release this in the west, now they won't. I'm going to go with the Latter which is sad as it will also mean no more Yakuza titles coming to WiiU in Japan or the Western market.
The Figures ARE for Collector Purists. Pokemon are unlocked in game aswell as codes that Nintendo will release Via Twitter and Facebook. Unless you 'Gotta-Get-Em-All' then you dont need to buy any figures.
This obviously is because of the way this figure collecting thing works in Japan, They insert thier yen, get an egg out of a machine and see what they have inside. Over here this sort of thing isn't a big thing but in Japan it's Huge. Nintendo should of made the distribution of these figures over here so people knew what they were buying but as mentioned if you happen to know others who collect them then you'll be able to do play swapsies with your mates. If you can't play swapsies then no doubt that if people get doubles they will either try to sell them on Ebay or Trade then in at GAME meaning you'll be able to buy some, at least, Pokemon knowing which ones your buying.
@Sony_70 I had a few years break from CoD as I got bored of the series before getting Blops2 on Ps3 and was suprised I enjoyed it. Although I didn't get Blops2 on WiiU I'll be getting Ghosts for it.
@DePapier Yes it will. Activision are promoting 2nd screen functionality. The WiiU has one a standard All other platforms are app downloads for smart devices.
Activion also said dual screen features in all versions... ironic that the Gamepad gets stick and called a bad idea yet this idea is the copied for other systems. Trouble is whereas the screen is built into the controller with te gamepad on other system you will need to juggle 2 seperate device which imo is the bad idea... how long do you think it will be before Xbone/Ps4 get a new controller announced with built in screen.. I reckon before Xmas 2014.
@JaxonH Your right, I'm sorry if you misunderstood. I would not support any sub-standard game just to support 3rd party publishers and wouldn't expect anyone else too either. Its not the best thing to lose local co-op, but there are plenty of local mp games on WiiU, and given what WiiU only features splintercell has that require the gamepad, which would of added to development time, along with being on of the few online enabled WiiU games Ubisoft should be given a bit of slack at the moment. The other option would be have the game release a few months later which would of caused complaints and reduced sales of the WiiU version even more as people would not of waited for the gamepad features and brought Splintercell on other platforms. If (hopefully when) things turn around for the WiiU, and theres a sizable userbase and game sales are inline with what publishers want them to be then having modes or content cut will not be excusable.
For Months People have been moaning about games having no online, yet many games having Local co-op or vs versus modes. Ok the WiiU version has lost Local co-op, but there are loads of games on WiiU that support local multiplayer anyway. Besides Ubisoft have said All maps, dlc and content, barring the local co-op is on or coming to the WiiU which means that local co-op could technically be added at later date via a patch. The only reason local co-op was left out was so that the WiiU version would ship at the same time as other versions, and thats probably due to extra development time to taken to use the gamepad in ways only a second screen would allow. Having said that wether patching local co-op is a unannounced posibility or not for Ubisoft to even consider it Splintercell would have to sell well in the first place, lets hope it does (and other ubi titles heading to WiiU) after all Ubisoft are watching how well thier titles sell on WiiU on the run up to christmas so they can decide just long they will continue to support WiiU. I for one would hate to lose another 3rd party developers support.
Sounds to me a Sony/Xbox fanboy post to me, wether they actually work for Sega is debatable no doubt Sega would of of chipped in with a response either way due to the Sega/Nintendo relationship thats going on at the moment, and to keep that relationship friendly.
Anyone whos Played the Original Bayonetta and seen the Demo/Gameplay videos for B2 can obviously see the two games are different, and not just visually and the only people to take the post as true would be Sony/Xbox fanboys (most of neogaf)
I brought the Premium WiiU, and 3 Wiimotes/Nunchucks and few games (never had Wii) and a few weeks later brought a 2tb HDD, it wasn't till then that I realized that I could of brought a Standard WiiU, A WiiU Starter Kit, 2 Wiimotes/Nunchucks Nintendoland and the other games I brought and the 2tb Harddrive for £50 less than I originally paid and the only thing I would be missing is the extra Gamepad stand. The Premium seems to be the better value system but in reality if your going to be downloading content eventually you'll nedd a HDD regardless of if you have the premium or basic WiiU and in that sort of situation then the Basic is actually better value. I'm on the fence over pricing initially yes it seems once the other systems arrive a price cut is needed, but with the other systems you will need to pay a monthly fee to play online and if you want second screen features/remote play you'll need to have A Vita (ps4), or Smart Phone of some description and because of how the they will handle the off-tv features (through you home network) the features will suffer longer latency than the direct WiiU to Gamepad features of the WiiU. The trouble is people don't consider the big picture. They only go on the systems on the shop shelves and the price sticker attached.
Expensive eShop week for me, by comparison to most Ducktales, Pokemon Rumble and Trine 2, which I've still not brought so might aswell with the discount. @datamonkey the old levels & characters have been totally redrawn and animated and re-voiced and theres new levels aswell. I was expecting it to be £15 - £20 tbh.
If a game is available on WiiU eShop I'll download it. The account link concern many have doesn't really bother me as playung from HDD means I've greatly reduced wear on my WiiU which in turns means less chance of a system failure.
I heard account linked purchases is coming by the end of this year, we'll see if thats the case for definate but believe it is otherwause the up coming purchase from pc is going to be hard to impliment.
What this data does imply is that WiiU games are selling better than the retail charts imply which can only be a good thing for Nintendo.
I'm sure I read this Months ago, not sure where. the only difference was back then they said if a future project came along which they thought they could utilize the gamepad they may may consider it. Back then people responded by say what about using the gamepad for inventory managment, world maps and off screen play.
Later releases going to happen quite often, lets face it the WiiU owners want to have unique features that utilize the gamepad but because other systems don't and won't have that capability (out of the box at least) theres a bit of extra work needed on the WiiU. I'd rather wait a month or two later and get a game that takes full advantage of the unique WiiU capabilities.
So basically the BBC have brought a old story from the early 90's into the 21st century. Back then during the 16bit era there was stories about gaming addiction becoming a problem. Children would bunk of school, adults would phone in sick. Gamers would be sat in thier bedrooms (often darkened) with little/no interaction with people. Latter on as graphics got better and more realistic it was violence portrayed in games and even now from time to time we see GTA made my son cave a prostitutes head in with a baseball bat stories. Now it Online gaming... well at least now onlinr gaming gives people to interact/talk with others not like in the 90's. The fact that the BBC don't even use relevent games as examples to back up thier reporting only adds to the irrelevence of thier story. Yes Videogame addiction is a problem for some, but to feel the problem is so bad that a story needs to be created is a farce. But then again now the BBC have made everyone sick and tired of the latest royal baby they are probably just trying to find something for thier reporters to actually do.
@Peach64 said: "I can't imagine who they think will be buying this. Surely most Wii U owners at this point are pretty hardcore Nintendo fans, not the sort that buy tie ins to kids movies." Here's a thought... maybe WiiU owners are not ALL hardcore Nintendo fans, and regardless of of how hardcore a Nintendo fan someone is maybe... wait for it.... they have Children. shock
Its a film tie-in aimed at children. Thing is young Children don't judge games on a technical side of things. They Play a game, if the like it its good, if not its bad. Developers/Publishers know this and add in the movie tie-in aspect then again a child will simply want the game because they liked the film or even a advert for the film. Again something the developers/publishers know. It's a big shame that it seems from the review the devs did s Wii-WiiU copy and paste job but there's little doubt my children (almost 4 and 6 years old) would want this game and its probably about as good as this sort of kids-game of the film is gonna get for the most part.
Off course these sales figures dont reflect digital sales. Only a low % of people bother rating games on eStore and given the amount Pikmin3 has been rated on eStore its safe to assume that digital sales have been higher than normal. Probably helped by the Wonderful 101 promotion. Untill these charts fully count digital sales then to be honest they don't necessarily reflect the the whole picture as accurate as they should. Having said that considering the WiiU's install base entering on retail charts at 2nd and still being within the top 20 isn't to bad. It's not 'THE' system seller but its one of a good number of games coming to WiiU that will increase system sales.
Sony are already dipping thier toes in mobile gaming, with Playstation mobile compatable devices which includes Phones and the Vita. Microsoft are too with Xbox Live on Windows Smartphone and thier Smartglass products. Over the next few years I'm sure that the tablet/mobile and home system gaming will be more intergrated with each other with bith Sony and Microsoft.
Nintendo will probably go thier own route, as they always have and has others have said probably release a hybrid system of thier own when its time to move on from WiiU.
Tablet gaming is becoming stronger now, a lot of tablets can be connected to your TV via hdmi and more and more games, especially on android have physical bluetooth controller support, The industry is changing and without a doubt full on home system games will and are being put on tablet devices. It wont be too long before the latest Battlefield and CoD game get a multiplatform release that will include Tablets with physical controller support.
Reports are saying Tesco are dropping in-store WiiU stock. The press are having a field day like they are with Asda and Morrisons but while I do not know anything about Asda and its position towards other systems and electronics products that they stock I have talked to My friend who works at Tesco and he told me even Ps4/Xbone pre-orders are not doing that well at Tesco nor are any Games and or Console Systems, certainly not aswell as Tesco believed they would and are in the process of scaling back in-store stock for all games and systems.
As I said earlier I've heard Morrisons are stopping stocking all electronics in store. The Bigger picture probably is Supermarkets have finally realized that people don't go to supermarkets to buy Games, Systems or electronics on a regular enough basis to warrant having stock in stores.
If specialist retailers were to drop the WiiU then thats the time to worry.
Sure I heard that Morrisons is droppping all of it electronics side of products not just WiiU but we'll see. Its good the specialists are staying on-board with WiiU especially Game due to being the only retailer to over the eCard codes and Shopto who tend to be cheaper than most places for disc purchases. As for advertisments, I've seen more adverts for Pikmin on various channels through-out the day and evening this week than I've seen the whole year for WiiU which is also shows Nintendo UK are making an effort. The last WiiU advert I've seen before this week was LegoCity, which was for 3DS, but mentioned the WiiU version at the end.
I stopped taking any notice of IGN when they partnered with Microsft, They would get shows put up on xbl and in return they would praise more or less every xbox game ever released, while more or less always putting down the ps3 games. Admittedly past couple of years they have been a bit more Ps3 freindly.. maybe to coincide with the rise in popularity of Ps3, and the dislike of Microsofts direction taken with the 360 to the point where IGN's e3 coverage saw a bunch of presenters practically ejaculating over Sony's corporate face with regards to the ps4 mean while practically Kicking Microsoft in the proverbial man-bits in regards to Xbone. The only consistancy with IGN throughout the years is thier total dislike of all things Nintendo. Having said that no doubt should Nintendo ever be all-the-rage again no doubt thier attitude would change. It what group of fanboys are making the most posts at IGN that dictate IGN's allegiance.
I found all but 1 number. I'm repeating my Final day trying to find the missing number. Hope its for something cool, but only being 10 digits its unlikely to be a eShop code, I'm guessing its a web code or theres an update due for Pikmin 3 that will include a code entry menu to unlock somesort of bonus.
Thing is I still think if WiiU was due out this year and Either Ps4 or Xbone was released last year then Sony or Microsoft would be in a simular situation than Nintendo is in now regardarding system sales.
A lot of people would, and have been waiting to finding out what alk 3 next gen systems are going to offer and at what price point. A lot of people don't buy new systems untill its first price cut and/or a substantial back catalogue of games. Finally During the initial console launch months only the core gamers buy thier chosen system, and only a systems core fan(boy) will buy the latest system itteration on launch day.
Nintendo openly admit they messed up in a number of ways which has added to the problematic situation but to get a true picture of how well Nintendo, Sony and MS are doing this next gen people need to see how game and system sales do for the WiiU, Ps4 and Xbone from the middle of next year up untill next years christmas period. By then all 3 systems will have a good back catalogue of game and had timd to settle into the market with the general game/system buying public, not just the core gaming public/fan
Nintendo has just started thier recovery plan, which should hopefully build some momentum for the WiiU and although Nintendo have made mistakes just because Sony/MS are spouting various promises about thier systems that doesn't mean either MS or Sony won't be dropping ball, and making mistakes with thier systems at launch. Xbox360 had severe lack of retail games for months after the initial launch period, Ps3 had simular issues coupled with pricing issues.
Ps4/Xbone arn't even out yet, andthe next MS/Sony systems after them won't be out till around 2020. WiiU came out last year and given its relative specs compared to Ps4/Xbone it safe to assume that Nintendo will be already thinking of releasing a new system 2016/17 with specs simular or hopefully higher than what the Ps4/Xbone have, coupled with innovation Nintendo systems offer and taking onboard everything they have learned with WiiU in terms of Nintendo Network, Miiverse etc and from what they have seen on Xbone/Ps4. If things don't pick up I think its unlikely they will break the 2016/17 plan but if push came to shove and investors put enough pressure on etc, etc, then maybe a new Nintendo system could be pushed out on the market 2015.
@mercurio2054 The trouble with this petition is it's really to late. Lets be honest, Those who want to play online will buy the game on other platforms, the people who's not bothered might still buy the WiiU version.
If the petition was able to get enough signatures to make WB change thier minds then that would mean the WiiU version would be delayed due to the online side of things needing to be ported to the WiiU. This will be quite a lengthy process as without doubt no work would of even been started for online gameplay on the WiiU version.
The knock on effect from the delay would be more people wether bothered about the lack of online or not would buy the game on other platforms or refuse to buy the game when it finally got released on WiiU due to the WiiU versions price compared to the price of the (by then) older Ps3/360 versions. Something with seen time and time again on titles released later on WiiU than other platforms, even if although it's a older title on other platforms there has been significant upgrades and/or additions to the WiiU version. (e.g NFS Most Wanted)
Firstly I am very dissapointed about lack of Online on WiiU version...
BUT...
Actually WB do have a point, I have yet to come across any game on WiiU that has substantial online playing userbase, where matchmaking will only take half a minute or so due to there being plenty of players. Exception to this is arguably MH3U, and Blops2 but niether of them are excactly overflowing with online activity.
Yes some of it can be attributed to a lower userbase, and compared to XBL/PSN Nintendo Network is lacking some online features that (at the moment at least), makes those with other systems finding the online more social, thus more reason to buy/play online enabled games on other systems.
Hopfully in the future as the WiiU userbase increases and with (hopefully) some features found on PSN/XBL are implimented on Nintendo Network with system and infrastructure updates more WiiU owners will invest time playing online and things might change regarding how developers treat WiiU versions of games. But for now at least it seems if a game is even brought to the WiiU its a bonus.
I just hope that if (or when) the WiiU version suffers in sales numbers due to people opting for online enabled versions for other platforns that WB don't start to withdraw support for WiiU blaming sales numbers for the WiiU version of games.
Even if Ninty decided on entering the smart device market they might aswell just shut up shop all together. In numerous interviews Ninty have repeatedly said the desigh thier hardware to meet game idea's they have. Once they have to make thier game idea's match other peoples hardware then thier creativity will be restricted, making them be like every other development house around. I want Nintendo games on Nintendo Hardware, I wan't that innovation and creativity that make Nintendo different to everyone else.
@FullbringIchigo Tbh Not even sure if my local Morrisons actually sell consoles, I know thier console game section is on small.
It wasn't till the popularity of the relatively cheap Wii that supermarkets started stocking games and selling systems and apart from when there's been silly sales, CoD games for £25 (limited stock), older games with low prices and recently WiiU price cuts I don't think people generally go to a local supermarket to buy games or systems... certainly at full retail price. I think as time goes by more supermarkets will cut down on games/systems they sell. Maybe stocking older, thus cheaper titles and premium titles that they have more chance of selling (CoD etc).
Not had a response to my complaint email about the situation so thanks for the info NL.
Happy to know I'll still qualify for the Wonderfull101 promo and hope fully at some point get my premium reward points. (Aswell as others with the same problem)
Having said that the eCode from game was £5 less than the eStore price, plus I'm guessing a few of us saved a few more pounds using GAME reward points and got the game upto 2 days early so not getting the premium reward points is minor compared to missing out on the 30% discount on Wonderful 101 and is more a matter of principle than anything.
@SyFyTy The 3ds tag is there because 3ds games are mentioned in the article. Being a Nintendo site the tag will direct you to orher 3ds related content within this site, Hence the reason the tag is there.
@chibichibi Yeh the point is to be efficient, but although it directs you to what needs to be done, once you've got the required Pikmin type to access area's then your almost always given to choice of what you want to do & what area to land at. I like to 100% games, so On my first play through I am spending time, experimenting and exploring but that doesn't mean anyone playing the game purly following the direction the game leads you in is wrong, same for the way I'm playing it. Thats one of the things that adds to playability and replayability, Play straight through, or Try to collect everything on first run though then on other play throughs you can play with the intention to complete the game quicker and also chose wether you try to do so whilst collecting everything again or not bothering and just following the suggested route through the game. I'm the 100% type of person but as I say its upto the individual and thats great. On a side note, and not to give any spoilers to anyone avoiding Miiverse etc but given the New Miiverse Announcment I'm quite happy I've spent time to look for the collectables, and the experiences and practice should mean I'll be able to tackle the bosses and puzzles and generally work through future play throughs more efficiently.
Going against the Norm, (it seems) I've been savouring every moment of my 1st play through of Story Mode. I'm making sure I find every fruit and collectable and exploring as much as possible.
I'm upto day 59 on my incredible slow play through, in part due to mistakes and in part due to the exploration, but I'm on the final area now (I think) and collected everything I can along the way. Once I've done the last area then I'm going to be replaying the story mode, trying to do the tasks quicker with a few Pikmin deaths as possible.
@FullbringIchigo Really? My Local Asda and Tesco have billboards all over the store promoting Xbone and Ps4 pre-orders and there's no sign of let-up in regards of Ps3, 360 or Wii systems and games being sold.
I will add pre-order in-store promotion for WiiU wasn't any where near what it is for Ps4/Xbone and even at cnristmas and the very start of this year both Asda and Tesco local to me were not promoting the WiiU as much as the Wii, Ps3 or Xbox in-store.
It almost seems the suprmarkets thought its Nintendo we won't need to promote the system.
@Judgedean No we have not. If anyones to fault it GAME UK as they broke the release date set by Nintendo by distributing eCodes early. Disc Pre-orders are usually sent out early to ensure people recieve the game for launch day and usually that means you get the game a day early. With a code Emailed out there's no reason to send out codes early. Since its Automated the codes should of been emailed out Midnight Thursday/Friday which would of been the time that Pikmin went live on eStore. I guess arguably some responsibitiy is down to myself on others like me to take advantage of the codes being sent out early by GAME, but at the end of the day If the Codes were not sent out early then we would not of redeemed them.
I've got a couple of Australian freinds on my WiiU freinds list and know that in general you Australians tend to get screwed over a bit on eStore game availability and Pricing (more so than us in UK anyway). You never know with the 30% discount maybe Wonderfull101 will cost the same as it does for is in the UK on eStore. (Probably without the discount applied to the game in the UK tho)
@Peach64 How about to give a good picture on how well Pikmin did at launch... especially when there's a lot of people who think the WiiU is a non-starter its good to point out that actually the WiiU has a big enough userbase to be able to make a game have a strong entry into the charts on launch day.
@Judgedean I phoned Nintendo Customer Support as I redeemed a eCode sent by Game early. I've posted the response I got on forum https://www.nintendolife.com/forums/wiiu_eshop/pikmin_3_early_ecode_redemption_no_premium_reward_points As for Wonderfull101 promo Its 50/50, my early code redemption didn't get registered for the Premium reward points but it did register on Club Nintendo. Hopefully NL can get more concrete info regarding the Wonderfull101 promo and early code redemption for Pikmin3 eCodes.
The charts are for Weekending the 27/7/13 which basically means Pikmin 3 reached #2 in the charts with Retail Pre-Orders and Launch Day sales. http://www.chart-track.co.uk/index.jsp?c=p/software/uk/latest/index_test.jsp&ct=110015 Also Digital Sales are not included, but the EU eStore Charts filtered by Recent Bestsellers & All Games shows Pikmin3 in 2nd beaten by Earthbound fir the top slot.
Info- If like me you brought and redeemed an eCode from GAMe before Pikmin3 was released on eStore you will not recieve any Premium Reward Points. I phoned Nintendo Customer Support have not recieved my Premium Points despit getting the game on Wednesday via a eCode sent early from Game and the response was To earn Premium Reward Points a Purchase has to be made direct from the eStore or an eCode has to be redeemed once a a title is available on eStore. It also leaves a question mark if those of use who redeemed a Pikmin3 eCode early will still qualify for the Wonderfull 101 promo.
Maybe (if dlc is planned) they could implement a timed story mode (with rankings) So its a bit more like Pikmin 1 where you have X amount of days to complete the story. (tbh taking ages exploring etc so not finished it Pikmin 3 yet so maybe its a completion unlock.. somebody probably knows) It would be a good idea as it would satisfy those like me, don't like to be forced through a game, and offer the challenge of getting everything done in time like Pikmin1
2tb harddrives are readily available on Amazon for between £60-£70 so its no big expence really and reduces wear on the WiiU itself. Good thing I brought by 2tb Seagate not long after getting my WiiU.
Pikmin 1 I thought was great, but have to admit, I like exploring and experimenting the first time I play through the game and the time limit was a negative for me. Pikmin3 is a great game, I'm slowly plodding my way through exploring and experimenting and playing the game as I want to. After going through story mode once thats when I'll try to finish the story quicker, playing it more akin to the original where its all about being time efficient.

Re: Ubisoft: Nintendo Has "Some Of The Best IP In The World", But Needs To Work On Communication
@Cohort The Blacklist issues are effecting All Platforms, not just WiiU, Google search results- http://www.google.com/search?client=wiiu&hl=en&rls=com.nintendo.wiiu:8047+UK&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&q=splintercellblacklistconnectionproblems
Its probably Launch weekend Server glitches at ubisofts end as it effecting all platforms But putting the WiiU into your routers DMZ helps a lot while these gitches are sorted.

Re: EA Executive Repeats That The Company is "Platform Agnostic", Cites "Tremendous Relationship" With Nintendo
Re: Sales Data Demonstrates a Slow Wii to Wii U Transition Compared to Past Generations
Re: Sales Data Demonstrates a Slow Wii to Wii U Transition Compared to Past Generations
Re: Yakuza 1 & 2 HD Reportedly Sells Less Than 2000 Copies in Debut Week
Re: Pokémon Rumble U Figurines and Special Edition Available From GAME in the UK
The Figures ARE for Collector Purists. Pokemon are unlocked in game aswell as codes that Nintendo will release Via Twitter and Facebook.
Unless you 'Gotta-Get-Em-All' then you dont need to buy any figures.
Re: Pokémon Rumble U Figurines and Special Edition Available From GAME in the UK
Re: Call of Duty: Ghosts Multiplayer Outlined in Lavish Presentation
@Sony_70 I had a few years break from CoD as I got bored of the series before getting Blops2 on Ps3 and was suprised I enjoyed it. Although I didn't get Blops2 on WiiU I'll be getting Ghosts for it.
Re: Call of Duty: Ghosts Multiplayer Outlined in Lavish Presentation
@DePapier Yes it will. Activision are promoting 2nd screen functionality. The WiiU has one a standard All other platforms are app downloads for smart devices.
Re: Call of Duty: Ghosts Multiplayer Outlined in Lavish Presentation
Activion also said dual screen features in all versions... ironic that the Gamepad gets stick and called a bad idea yet this idea is the copied for other systems. Trouble is whereas the screen is built into the controller with te gamepad on other system you will need to juggle 2 seperate device which imo is the bad idea... how long do you think it will be before Xbone/Ps4 get a new controller announced with built in screen.. I reckon before Xmas 2014.
Re: Video: Ubisoft Wraps Up Splinter Cell Blacklist Details in a Neat Bow
Re: Video: Ubisoft Wraps Up Splinter Cell Blacklist Details in a Neat Bow
Re: Weirdness: SEGA Employee Has a Bad Day, Says Bayonetta 1 & 2 Are Almost "Exactly the Same"
Sounds to me a Sony/Xbox fanboy post to me, wether they actually work for Sega is debatable no doubt Sega would of of chipped in with a response either way due to the Sega/Nintendo relationship thats going on at the moment, and to keep that relationship friendly.
Anyone whos Played the Original Bayonetta and seen the Demo/Gameplay videos for B2 can obviously see the two games are different, and not just visually and the only people to take the post as true would be Sony/Xbox fanboys (most of neogaf)
Re: Satoru Iwata Cites Poor Basic Wii U Sales To Rule Out Price Cut Benefits
Re: Nintendo Download: 15th August (Europe)
Expensive eShop week for me, by comparison to most Ducktales, Pokemon Rumble and Trine 2, which I've still not brought so might aswell with the discount.
@datamonkey the old levels & characters have been totally redrawn and animated and re-voiced and theres new levels aswell. I was expecting it to be £15 - £20 tbh.
Re: Nintendo's Digital Sales Revenue Continues Upward Trend With 3DS and Wii U
If a game is available on WiiU eShop I'll download it. The account link concern many have doesn't really bother me as playung from HDD means I've greatly reduced wear on my WiiU which in turns means less chance of a system failure.
I heard account linked purchases is coming by the end of this year, we'll see if thats the case for definate but believe it is otherwause the up coming purchase from pc is going to be hard to impliment.
What this data does imply is that WiiU games are selling better than the retail charts imply which can only be a good thing for Nintendo.
Re: Bethesda: Wii U Is "Not On Our Radar" Right Now
I'm sure I read this Months ago, not sure where. the only difference was back then they said if a future project came along which they thought they could utilize the gamepad they may may consider it.
Back then people responded by say what about using the gamepad for inventory managment, world maps and off screen play.
Re: Young Justice: Legacy Will Come To Wii U, 3DS and Wii in November
Later releases going to happen quite often, lets face it the WiiU owners want to have unique features that utilize the gamepad but because other systems don't and won't have that capability (out of the box at least) theres a bit of extra work needed on the WiiU.
I'd rather wait a month or two later and get a game that takes full advantage of the unique WiiU capabilities.
Re: BBC Warns Of Online Gaming Addiction, Uses Image Of Someone Playing Offline Mario Kart
Re: Review: Disney's Planes (Wii U)
@Peach64 said:
"I can't imagine who they think will be buying this. Surely most Wii U owners at this point are pretty hardcore Nintendo fans, not the sort that buy tie ins to kids movies."
Here's a thought... maybe WiiU owners are not ALL hardcore Nintendo fans, and regardless of of how hardcore a Nintendo fan someone is maybe... wait for it.... they have Children. shock
Re: Review: Disney's Planes (Wii U)
Re: Animal Crossing: New Leaf Remains in UK Top Five, Pikmin 3 Falls Away
Re: Nintendo Most Likely To Produce Gaming-Centric Tablet, Says Game Designer Jesse Schell
Re: Specialist Retailers Emphasize Their Support for the Wii U
Re: Specialist Retailers Emphasize Their Support for the Wii U
Re: IGN Editor: If Wii U Doesn't Pick Up, Nintendo Should Look To New Hardware
Re: Shigeru Miyamoto Confirms That Secret Memos and a Code Are Hidden in Pikmin 3
Re: Wii U Research & Development Costs May "Undermine Profitability"
Re: IGN Editor: If Wii U Doesn't Pick Up, Nintendo Should Look To New Hardware
Re: Looks Like Batman: Arkham Origins Isn't Getting Online Play On Wii U
Re: Looks Like Batman: Arkham Origins Isn't Getting Online Play On Wii U
Re: Nintendo Feels That Working On Smartphones And Tablets Would "Decrease Brand Value"
Re: Asda Stores No Longer Stocking New Wii U Systems or Games
Re: Nintendo Download: 1st August (Europe)
Never played Harvest Moon but have heard lots of good thungs about it over the years, inckuding when it launched.. Might pick it up.
Re: Don't Worry, Those Early Pikmin 3 Downloads Are Eligible For The Wonderful 101 Promotion
Re: Pikmin 3 Makes UK Chart Debut in Second Place
@SyFyTy The 3ds tag is there because 3ds games are mentioned in the article. Being a Nintendo site the tag will direct you to orher 3ds related content within this site, Hence the reason the tag is there.
Re: Feature: A Weekend With Pikmin 3
Re: Feature: A Weekend With Pikmin 3
Going against the Norm, (it seems) I've been savouring every moment of my 1st play through of Story Mode. I'm making sure I find every fruit and collectable and exploring as much as possible.
I'm upto day 59 on my incredible slow play through, in part due to mistakes and in part due to the exploration, but I'm on the final area now (I think) and collected everything I can along the way. Once I've done the last area then I'm going to be replaying the story mode, trying to do the tasks quicker with a few Pikmin deaths as possible.
Re: Asda Stores No Longer Stocking New Wii U Systems or Games
Re: Pikmin 3 Makes UK Chart Debut in Second Place
Re: Australia Can Get 30% Off The Wonderful 101 By Downloading Pikmin 3 From The eShop
Re: Pikmin 3 Makes UK Chart Debut in Second Place
@Peach64 How about to give a good picture on how well Pikmin did at launch... especially when there's a lot of people who think the WiiU is a non-starter its good to point out that actually the WiiU has a big enough userbase to be able to make a game have a strong entry into the charts on launch day.
Re: Pikmin 3 Makes UK Chart Debut in Second Place
@Judgedean I phoned Nintendo Customer Support as I redeemed a eCode sent by Game early. I've posted the response I got on forum https://www.nintendolife.com/forums/wiiu_eshop/pikmin_3_early_ecode_redemption_no_premium_reward_points
As for Wonderfull101 promo Its 50/50, my early code redemption didn't get registered for the Premium reward points but it did register on Club Nintendo.
Hopefully NL can get more concrete info regarding the Wonderfull101 promo and early code redemption for Pikmin3 eCodes.
Re: Pikmin 3 Makes UK Chart Debut in Second Place
The charts are for Weekending the 27/7/13 which basically means Pikmin 3 reached #2 in the charts with Retail Pre-Orders and Launch Day sales. http://www.chart-track.co.uk/index.jsp?c=p/software/uk/latest/index_test.jsp&ct=110015
Also Digital Sales are not included, but the EU eStore Charts filtered by Recent Bestsellers & All Games shows Pikmin3 in 2nd beaten by Earthbound fir the top slot.
Re: Feature: A Brief History of Pikmin
Re: Feature: A Brief History of Pikmin
Maybe (if dlc is planned) they could implement a timed story mode (with rankings) So its a bit more like Pikmin 1 where you have X amount of days to complete the story. (tbh taking ages exploring etc so not finished it Pikmin 3 yet so maybe its a completion unlock.. somebody probably knows)
It would be a good idea as it would satisfy those like me, don't like to be forced through a game, and offer the challenge of getting everything done in time like Pikmin1
Re: The Wonderful 101's Download Will Grab Over 10GB of Precious Hard Drive Space
2tb harddrives are readily available on Amazon for between £60-£70 so its no big expence really and reduces wear on the WiiU itself.
Good thing I brought by 2tb Seagate not long after getting my WiiU.
Re: Feature: A Brief History of Pikmin
Pikmin 1 I thought was great, but have to admit, I like exploring and experimenting the first time I play through the game and the time limit was a negative for me.
Pikmin3 is a great game, I'm slowly plodding my way through exploring and experimenting and playing the game as I want to. After going through story mode once thats when I'll try to finish the story quicker, playing it more akin to the original where its all about being time efficient.
