@dBackLash reviews are so subjective dude just don't listen to them and look at the first few minutes and see if it looks like fun to you. Maybe ask a friend. But chose for yourself over reviews. I used to just get games that reviewed well and now some of my favorites didn't review well

I like this more than animal crossing although I love both appreciate the support for the switch version

@shgamer if you like Samus returns for 3ds play am2r a free fangames version with a super Metroid style. I enjoyed it even more than Samus returns and found it just as polished. It did the games atmosphere more justice than the 3ds one although both are great I'd recommend you play am2r as it (to me at least) is the definitive Metroid 2 experience. This isn't a knock on the 3ds game but am2r was a true masterpiece for me. It took the guy ten years to make and it's clearly something he was really passionate about so maybe try it out if you have time.

Edit: google the download for am2r as it's a PC game you have to download I think it works on Mac as well but I don't remember

@Krull I like hollow knight more than any other Metroidvania even Metroid itself which I am a huge fan of. Top 5 favorite game for me. Surprisingly polished and atmospheric just like the best Metroid. Art style and animation is stunning, and the lore is interesting and fun to unravel into a full fledged story. Combat is fun yet simple.

@Lemmy_the_Koopa yeah I get it I'm sorry if I came off as saying you were thinking that I was mostly just thinking about how we don't have any fzero anything lol I was introduced via Nintendo land. That is kinda sad tbh

I wouldn't play Samus returns for 3ds. I'd play am2r as it captures the original game much better and is a joy. Much better for me. It's on PC and Mac I think check it out you won't regret it.

@NeonPizza well... We've seen one very early area of the game. The studio behind it is competent although I don't love their idea of what Metroid should be it's still a valid take. The whole creature stalking you may seem overdone but it really isn't in the Metroidvania style. It's not as much meant to be a horror game but make traversing the environment a little more exciting than just gunning down enemies while holding right. Lets hope it doesn't suck instead of thinking it will without any real evidence is my philosophy. If it sucks, don't buy it. That's the beauty of games. They can't suck and get away with it because it won't sell.

@Lemmy_the_Koopa idk advance wars may not be quite as beloved but it has its fans and it's almost as forgotten as f zero. I mean I would have far preferred fzero but advance wars was about as starved lol

@nessisonett another thing is the devs of Samus returns kinda ruined the vibe of the original game quite a bit. Too much of a focus on action. Metroid 2 is a very atmospheric game and they made everything a lot more colorful and a lot more action based. Still a great game but it just kind of is too different. Am2r is my preferred version of Metroid 2 tbh. I think dread looks like they have a better grip of the Metroid style with the backgrounds and stuff. Don't like that there is an ai companion one bit though lol I do really want a harder difficulty though.

@Lemmy_the_Koopa f zero is the most sad franchise... Paper Mario fans think they have it rough lol I'd kill for just a port of an f zero game just a reminder that they know it exists and is beloved

This is the best direct ever for me a whole bunch of series I specifically like were the big ones here monkey ball advance wars and a new Metroid? Smt v news? Sounds like the best direct ever for me! Even a snippet of botw very good. Metroid dread tree house did worry me though. Don't get me wrong game looks great and I think the devs are pretty good from Samus returns but they made Samus returns a bit easy in the sense of checkpoints and the people talking kept repeating that this is accessible for newbies over and over again and then they are like yeah there are nice checkpoints in case you run into anything dangerous big improvement over the actual tense gameplay that put the series on the map... It looks good but I mean come on this isn't what people want for Metroid. That is a bit of a nitpick though like I said it still looks like a great new installment even if a bit too easy compared to your usual Metroid game. Hard for there to be dread when you have no stakes though if you know what I mean. Maybe there will be a hard mode without checkpoints? I'd love that! Can't wait for all these games to release best direct of all time for me!

@vyseofhr from footage it looks like it. I think Samus returns is amazing but it had a few issues with how light the game looked and they seem to fix that in this trailer with the way it looks! Great devs tbh but they didn't capture Metroid 2s vibes that well with returns (and I loved returns it was amazing) but this seems like Samus returns but they make it more in line with og metrois this is a dream!

@ColdDeadlyWolf I was thinking it was the stasis rune in combination with urbosas fury because I know someone looking for glitches wouldn't leave it on unless it was necessary for the glitch in the clip

@Heavyarms55 Same here I just started to get used to shiki when she was swapped out and it just felt like a chore. No touch screen will fix that though. I just think it's frustrating to get good at using a touchscreen although I do feel good when I figure it out

@Boo_Breaker Because it sold terribly. I pirated it and it's great but Nintendo doesn't care that much. Maybe now that fire emblem is more popular than ever but I still think we have a ways to go before a port of the game. I'd much rather support the company I'm playing games from than download it from a website and play it how it wasn't intended but if it isn't available on the switch I honestly could care less of I pirate it.

I think I'll try it out been a while since I've even thought about Harry Potter I loved the books but it hasn't gripped me like star wars and other books have. I did really like 1 through 4 (not to bash on 5 through 7 I just think they are way worse to me but
I still liked them I'm not sure if that's a popular opinion)

Edit: I was mostly saying in comparison to phantom hourglass tbh I really dislike phantom hourglass couldn't bring myself to even finish it

@Nameless_Shame What's weird is I adored spirit tracks I thought the puzzles were way more fun than in phantom hour glass and the story felt a little more lively to me as well but I guess that's an unpopular opinion for a reason lol

@Muddy_4_Ever it was my first Zelda game and if I'd started with a different game I probably wouldn't have been close to as in love with it as now. This really is just a link to the past definitive edition but the changes are so weird and wacky like the painting thing and stuff man this is Nintendo at it's finest

@wuntyme8 new battlefront 2 is now a game for the players and fans. When it launched it was the opposite but I encourage people to go back and see just how consumer friendly it is now. If you get the new version celebration something (actually really cheap I got it for free from epic) you get almost all cosmetics free

@nessisonett True. I honestly prefer strange journey myself but this is a fine game anyone should play. Great intro to smt series. Easy recommendation for persona fans (I personally like these more than persona by a lot)

@nessisonett Especially with how new the system is. If this system had been around awhile anyone could do this but since it's brand new it's much more impressive
