Re: Feature: Games That Got Us Through Tough Times

Ghostchip

Was suicidal in 9th grade and persona 3 portable is probably the only reason I'm still here. I think that might sound dramatic but it's just how it was for me then. Part of it is the acceptance of death and how characters overcome it despite the suicide motifs in the game, it was very clearly meant to inspire people to overcome death. Specifically akihikos arc was very personal to me

Re: Soapbox: The Term 'Indie' Is Losing Meaning, But Maybe That's A Positive Sign

I love the amount of indies lately it's absolutely making everything better. I feel like company's have started playing a lot of games safe (including Nintendo) I mean most of the new ips are not as weird and odd I mean there are a few but it feels like they were everywhere on the GameCube PS2 era and before that. I feel like the indies are picking up the slack and filling in that need for games that aren't guaranteed best sellers but are something completely out there.

Re: Court Orders Popular ROM Website To "Destroy" All Of Its Unauthorised Nintendo Games

Ghostchip

There will always be another ROM site. I never loved this site anyway. Nintendo should offer a way to play these games on switch because I'd bet a lot of the people pirating would be fine forking over the nso membership but there is like next to no games on it considering how vast the NES and snes library is and that's not even considering other consoles. I used vc and then it wasn't a thing anymore I pirated stuff because it wasn't available. It's just dumb. If what they were taking down was able to be purchased easily today than I wouldn't care as much.

Re: Community: What Was Your First Ever Nintendo Game?

Ghostchip

The first Nintendo game I've ever played was Lego star wars the complete saga on Nintendo DS looking back it's kinda funny that's the first video game I literally ever played. After that I got new super Mario Bros for it and have loved Mario ever since. Kinda funny because I also got into Pokemon and Kirby but didn't get into Zelda until link between worlds on 3ds which is now one of my favorite games ever. But starting on the ds makes it my favorite console I love the thing to death

Re: Rumour: Persona 4 Arena Ultimax To Be Remastered For "Modern Platforms"

@Hydra_Spectre @jameswarrensaid but the animes all suck except the persona 3 one that one caught me of guard I thought it was alright all 4 movies are free on YouTube so check it out and form your own opinion. I recommend emulating persona 3 portable if you don't have a PS4 or steam as a first persona experience because it works on anything from phones to cheap computers. Yes it's pirating but to be honest who actually cares do it if you want and don't do it if it bugs you. But seriously the movies were okay check them out on YouTube if you want I had a good time watching them despite hating the other ones

Re: Nintendo Fears A Popular ROM Website Could Make A Comeback

Ghostchip

@PBandSmelly literally my thoughts exactly. So what I pirated super Metroid to play on a little device I own it in like four places already! I want to play mother 3 in English and try some N64 games that haven't been re released. I mean I'd rather play it officially but if there's no option I mean it's not harming anyone except Nintendo but I mean as much as I love there games I think they'll be okay with me playing mother 3. I get it it's a legal gray area but I mean I don't exactly care about the income of a company with so much money when me playing their old titles they didn't port leads me to play new ones releasing. One of my friends pirates switch games and although I've never judged them for it I do think it's kind of wrong when the product is readily available anyway

@Travisemo007 I'm not making fun of or disagreeing with you but I'm a bit confused what you mean. Are you saying I'm skipping the meat by using auto battle? Because I nearly never use it unless I am really overleveled and just want a bit more macca in smt or I need a certain demon and I might as well end the battle quickly and still get xp but yeah you can't auto battle through a game like smt strange journey its WAY too hard for that lol give the game a try it's phenomenal

Re: Video: The 21 Best NES Games Of All Time, As Rated By The Nintendo Life Community

Ghostchip

@bryce951 if I had to guess your right no one cares about it because there is no nostalgia/hardly anyone got chance to play them and the snes did everything better but that doesn't mean the games suck or something. The Mario games are just as good on the NES as the snes ports (a couple were botched physics wise in all stars making the NES version better even). Metroid is still great today although Id go with zero mission. Dragon quest 1 through 3 for nes is a fun jrpg which started all others and is an enjoyable short adventure that holds up very well. I'd argue early final fantasy games aged poorly to be honest though but some really like them but idk. A lot of hard side scrollers like ninja garden are on the console and they are all really fun! If you get rid of nostalgia you can look at the NES as the N64 pioneering 3d: great games, but it hasn't hit it's stride yet. That still doesn't mean that there aren't Mario 64s, banjo kazooies, etc. I'm sure there are a ton of games you'd appreciate on the console even if there isn't any nostalgia. It's my least favorite Nintendo console personally (besides Virtual boy of course) but it's still got tons of fun games if you look that are fun regardless of nostalgia

@Snaplocket there is no shame in auto battling it's just a way to make the game a little less annoying to grind through in my experience. You are right they are great in smt games I'm playing strange journey and grinding with physical attacks automatically is a lifesaver not because it's necessary but because sometimes I just don't want to strategize my turns when all I want is money or xp

Re: Random: How Many Of These 175 Indie Games Can You Identify?

Ghostchip

Honestly indies are able to go toe to toe with triple a games nowadays. Hollow knight is in my opinion the best 2d Metroidvania (including super Metroid itself) Spelunky is just brilliant and undertale is a wonderful experience Stardew valley exceeds harvest moon in every way besides simplicity if you want that but it's really just better. I prefer it to animal crossing any day and I've been playing that way since I was little so even with nostalgia I prefer stardew. Cuphead is too unique to compare to anything tbh but just play it you'll regret not playing it forever lol I've played many more but those are just some of my favorites!
