Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of The February 2021 Nintendo Direct, Then?

Ghostchip

@clvr exactly. And not only that but p5s is terrible to me. You just put a sequel to a very story oriented game on switch to see if it would sell well. That would be fine if the original was there but no one who just owns a switch is going to want to spoil p5 and jump right in... Persona 3 portable, persona 4 golden, or persona 2 duology would have been much better picks as they start you in on the series. I just hope if this doesn't sell well atlus doesn't discount switch as an smt only platform when we want persona. Joker was so cool in smash everyone wanted to play his game but nope only ps. I got p3p on my psportable just because joker was so cool in smash so I had to try a game of his series and now I'm a fan of atlus games. Not a lot of other people have PSPs lying around though

Edit: that's why I hope nocturne and smt v sell well because it'll show atlus persona isn't the future MEGATEN is the future with persona being half of the fun and smt being the other half (anime is not how smt should feel). I love persona for its character development I'm not an anime guy akihiko is such a well written and relatable character as well as other characters from the series. Smt is not supposed to be that. It's supposed to be a dark non anime like game with a mature themes and a very threatening environment that sets a somber tone.

Ghostchip

@Zach777 it's more like they revealed stuff we didn't expect I thought it was a good direct bit nintendo revealed two games and a port really. Square enix made the direct amazing though for anyome who likes ff tactics lol. Just expecting more first party stuff or smt stuff or something when the square enix picked up the slack. Really good direct imo people should be happy with it

Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of The February 2021 Nintendo Direct, Then?

Ghostchip

@clvr the problem is atlus not nintendo for smt v. What they should have done was talk about how it's still coming and a nice trailer to drum up interest with no new info, then a lengthy smt nocturne trailer so people get hyped for the game because now I'm worried it won't sell well when nocturne is a really good game that deserves it more than p 5 honestly (and I adore persona 5 but it's really on par with the smt series and persona as a whole not some revolution or something it's just as good as the last 3 persona games (not 1tho lol) does some things worse some better) and smt nocturne is a game that is as good as p5 imo. Heck I'd say smt strange journey is absolutely better than five or nocturne and most people who've played it would agree. Yeah I hope persona can carry on it's hype to MEGATEN because I've seen ads for p5s yet none for nocturne. WHY I just want atlus to succeed with the series that persona is based of of not because atlus deserves it their business practices are pretty scummy but people who like persona should experience the games that are as good and better than persona.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of The February 2021 Nintendo Direct, Then?

@Friendly we didn't get much from nintendo but their announcements were great. I think this direct nintendo wise was just eh. What really pulled through was square enix and ff tactics octopath style game is absolutely phenomenal fans have been begging for this for years and it's finally happening any person who has played a lot of rpgs will know just how much of an absolutely huge deal this is. Also pyra and mythra are much better than rex as characters so that's nice.

Re: Nintendo Reveals Splatoon 3, Coming To Switch In 2022

Ghostchip

Unpopular opinion probably: not a fan of this whole idea. Splatoon 2 was great but it was more of an enhanced port of splatoon 1 just for switch. It was a great move and very enjoyable game. Splatoon 3 looks exactly the same just with more weapons. I feel like they should have saved it for next console generation because I don't think I'll buy splatton 2 and second time for a very samey experience. I love splatoon on of my most played games on wii u and switch but... Why buy the same game twice no matter how much you love it? Guess I'll wait but it seems like new maps and guns but thats it at the moment. Not enought for me.

Re: A Journalist Asked Actual Kids What They Thought About The "Kids Play Too Many Video Games" Argument

Ghostchip

@Mr_Persona my parents are mega christians I'm also christian but Im not going to summon satan just because I like to play persona lol. I didn't say this but they said no to persona 3 so I just got it from a friend only reason I got into the series same for strajgenjorney and devil survivor would never havej been allowed to play.

Edit they don't care about cursing and alcohol the demonic crap throws them off. They bought four after I asked, looked into it, saw the words demon summoning and said no

Double edit it bothers me I cant tell if your profile pic is makoto from dancing all night or the protagonist from devil survivor

Re: Talking Point: What We're Hoping To See In Today's Nintendo Direct

Ghostchip

@KateGray ghost trick and the ds smt games deserve a life on switch I know they aren't big big games but they are true masterpieces strange journey redux and smt devil survivor overclocked ports would be amazing! Although tbh I'm not sure why we don't have smt in us nso I mean there is an official english translation yet it's only in japanese nso. I think I just love the ds a little too much so much creativity in a pocket!

Re: Talking Point: What We're Hoping To See In Today's Nintendo Direct

Ghostchip

@Dizzard I tried golden sun only played a little and I already think it's really solid even by today's standards imagine it running in a world like dragon quest 11s oh that would be epic like a gaur plains kind of environment that would be epic. Or just a port this game holds up really well. By the way the best ace attorney game to me is ghost trick even though it's not one it's just that good get it on your ds if you can it's phenomenal and probably the most under appreciated game I've played

Re: Talking Point: What We're Hoping To See In Today's Nintendo Direct

Ghostchip

@kategray my respect for this website has grown infinitely higher just because you mentioned a switch port of ghost trick I thought I was the only one who wanted it that is easily one of my favorite games and I play a lot of games

Edit I really liked the article by the way I liked how you kind of just threw stuff out there for like the smash picks even though we aren't getting zagreus or baby yoda lol

Re: Feature: Five SNK Neo Geo Pocket Games We Want To See On Switch

Ghostchip

@Ghost_of_Hasashi yeah but it's more like all this stuff was available on the last gen and the business decision is no more dumping everything individually because you have no incentive to keep paying money to the next gen vc. Now it's like they are using subscription based service because it will keep people paying if they want to play their games. I was just using earthbound as an example it's not like earthbound is a unheard of game either remember when everyone went nuts when it came to wii u? I mean I get what you mean but it feels like nintendo has forgotten what they are trying to sell I mean come on. If just the Snes and he's library was as complete as the wii and wii u version that'd be fine but now it's just anticonsumer not good business because since it's a subscription they aren't making more or less money putting the library at least to standards they set years ago. Heck there is english translations official onesbat that of smt 1 yet it's only on the Japanese NSO. It just doesn't make sense from a business perspective I know a lot of people would use nso if it had at least a completer library of the snes and nes. It is just making fans annoyed without subtracting from potential profit even a little bit. They could sell these games in the future and leave them off the service for that but by that point it's the next gen and they would either make people keep paying there or buy it on next gen either way they are making money why just lock away all of this stuff when it was readily available before. Sigh that's my rant

Re: Feature: Five SNK Neo Geo Pocket Games We Want To See On Switch

Ghostchip

Not to be rude because these games would be epic on switch but considering you still have no way to play most great nintendo console games on switch is more of a shame to me. I mean for wii and wii u this wasn't a problem why is it now?you literally have a good formula for cash: put virtual console on a subscription so people can't buy em up and stop spending money. Scummy but understandable. Then why aren't you I don't know putting any of the games people want on there? You could put earthbound and mother 1 on in an instant it's not difficult you own the game. Same for the whole n64 library, and even to an extent gamecube and wii. It really is mind boggling why they don't do this because if they do they could charge even more and most people would pay it.

Re: Ori Director Criticises "Snake Oil Salesmen" Behind No Man's Sky, Cyberpunk, And Fable

Ghostchip

@Crockin as much as I would like that the problem is with bayonetta everyone knows what that series is about and they don't need to drum up hype for it the community will do it for them. Cyberpunk needed to drum up hype or no one would have bought it and I'm no defending the lies they told cdpr should have just said it was the same kinda game as last generation and no one would have been disappointed and there still would have been hype.

Re: Ori Director Criticises "Snake Oil Salesmen" Behind No Man's Sky, Cyberpunk, And Fable

Ghostchip

@Kalmaro they didn't lie about their game I think more people were mad before the game launched than after with the product lol. It still sucks but hey they were upfront about their crap cdpr only had to say it was just like their other games instead they promised something that won't be done right for five years. Cyberpunk was a good game but cdpr hyped it like it was the game to end all games when it really wasnt

Re: Cloud Gaming Service Google Stadia Shuts Down Internal Development Studios

Ghostchip

@Snatcher I have it because I can't afford a pc and it's great. I play high end games running perfectly on my phone over data, on my chromebook, it really has come a long way since launch. It's free as well so I mean it may be a very specific target audience but it has been great way for me to play all the games I missed like the new tomb raiders, jedi fallen order, red dead redemption 2, cyberpunk which runs as good as pc on stadia (although I've heard a lot of bad stuff about it not buying it yet haha). Yeah and the way it works is that it is always up to date with the current gen hardware so its more powerful then all the consoles at the moment. It's just a really convenient way for me to play games I couldn't afford before.

Re: Sonic Writer Talks About His Love-Hate Relationship With The Fandom

Ghostchip

@Nintendan64 it's too bad really. The stories have been fine really but now they are really dead. Everything up to the Wii u titles at least had heart even if it was stupid it at least had a passion behind it. That's what makes lesser games like unleashed more bearable when I played them. Oh and heroes story to me always felt like really creepy to me even as a kid on gamecube lol

Re: Sonic Writer Talks About His Love-Hate Relationship With The Fandom

Ghostchip

@Nintendan64 peak sonic is sonic adventure 1 and 2 for how gloriously cheesy and fun they were. You can't take them seriously but it's in a good way. When I replay them it makes me love then so much. Most games were like this until lost world kinda ruined it along with boom and forces. Sonic 06 being the exception haha

Re: Sonic Writer Talks About His Love-Hate Relationship With The Fandom

Ghostchip

@Ardisan it's more like it's a huge fandom what did they expect. But not only is it a huge fandom but the games are such a mixed bag of course there are gonna be people being dumb it's just a fact. I don't know what games he wrote exactly or whatever but it said sonic colors in the article and that was just as gloriously cheesy as previous entries in the series which is fine by me what's a sonic game without some cheese am I right. Poor dude doesn't realize he's working with such a large amount of people ona controversial game series.

Re: A Journalist Asked Actual Kids What They Thought About The "Kids Play Too Many Video Games" Argument

Ghostchip

Well usually when parents kick kids off video games it's when they have played all day. I don't see anything wrong with that. Although some parents I know don't get it and only let there kids play games for like 30 minutes a day. I feel that's a minority though. Many kids would play mario all day long and not go outside kid me being one of them. My mom kicking me off the gamecube after I played for three hours is just her trying to help me develope healthy habits while still allowing me to enjoy a game. Although the thing about too much video games are bad for you isnt wrong, people seem to forget too much of anything is bad for you if it's convenient to the argument.

Re: Ring Fit Adventure Might Be The Best-Selling New JRPG Of This Generation

Ghostchip

@Purgatorium you've had mentally and emotionally painful grinding in other games, now it also hurts physically lol. I actually think grinding in most games is a game design flaw it should be well paced so a good deck can win with no grinding. Ff7 is my favorite example of this. This game thought grinding is excercise lol it fits right in

Re: Ring Fit Adventure Might Be The Best-Selling New JRPG Of This Generation

Ghostchip

It deserves it this game isn't a major thing for gaming but it is innovative and creative, which is rapidly becoming something only indie devs seem to be able to do. I mean seriously you don't see square enix making games like the world ends with you anymore. You don't see capcom making games like ghost trick. I just feel like all the creativity is built off of something else from before or is cookie cutter. Nintendo and a couple big releases are still very creative and fresh and that gives me hope, but the number of risky big budget games that innovate in what a game can be has seemingly stopped happening. Ring fit is a perfect example of how nintendo strives to do something new. Sega with sonic although not always good aimed to innovate with constant risk. It may not have turned out well for him but I feel we at least appreciate the passion of finding new stuff for sonic. Now sonic forces is a clone of generations which is good but lacked any creativity and sonic lost world is a copy of super mario galaxy. Let's hope the next sonic game goes back to the riskyness of past titles that gave sonic flavor even if it wasn't perfect. I can only think of a few franchises where nintendo didn't innovate for better or for worse. Right now, games that are like this seem to be a rehash of old creativity or a few exceptions that make me very happy. Don't get me wrong a lot of these cookie cutter titles are great and that's not the problem I just see a lot less risk now than back in the 2000s. That's my rant really. Nintendo and indies carry most of the burden of making risky creative titles but titles like ghosts of tsushima, the doom reboots, and even how the ff7 remakes were handled gives me hope for the future of a medium I love so much because I love creativity in games. I'm not worried about nintendo though just one look at this game will show that.
