Re: Video: Tennis Legend Serena Williams Stars In Nintendo's Latest Round Of Switch TV Spots

@doctorhino @nessisonett yeah it's like think of it this way: if you are advertising Gatorade to for example basketball players who would you want most to represent it? Someone who is the face of the sport like lebron james. Everyone knows lebron james even if they don't know basketball. Another example: you are advertising a sports drink that is modeled off of old video games. If you could get mario you would use him in your commercial hands down because he is synonymous with old games and nintendo. Serena williams is the only tennis player everyone in at least the US knows. Not using her would be like using some obscure player to advertise a drink in the basketball example or using a random NES game no one remembers as a marketing theme. Serena williams is believe it or not tennis, and using her for tennis is just smart business. Also race shouldn't even be a thing brought up here no one should care about race like that kinda disappointed someone brought it up in the first place to be honest. Nintendo is using good tennis player to advertise tennis game. Oh my how controversial (cue sarcasm). A good player/symbol is a good player/symbol and that's all this is.

@apoqalypse What is wrong with you this is just a lady who's good at tennis... Advertising tennis what is wrong with that. Also I may not love tennis or keep up with her but I'm pretty sure she's a pretty normal person I think and a good representative for a sports game being the most famous person in a sport haha. Also your comment is even more ridiculous when you consider that this is a Japanese company first and foremost I don't think someone who doesn't know Japanese and is gonna change an entire company

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Character Designer Celebrates Third Anniversary With Some New Artwork

Ghostchip

@hdavid5 that's why I'm annoyed about the game design... The game before it xc1 you should play instead because this game is actually an oddity as it is not the focus of the game at all it just threw this in for no reason and it kind of annoys me because people like you who don't like the sexual designs (I only played because of a friends insistence I don't like the way they are sexualized ether) won't experience a fantastic game that doesn't focus on this save for a few very cringy cutscenes I hate with a passion. Just play xc1 first it doesn't have these designs and is a better game anyway

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Character Designer Celebrates Third Anniversary With Some New Artwork

@TG16_IS_BAE ehhhh I'd argue it's the games dialogue on them that is worse just for being annoying and catering to anime fans with it mentioning revealing clothing in dumb cutscenes like 5 times and that's dialogue Its like why when xc1 was nothing like anime in my opinion. Like I said in my opinion drawings like this are not terrible I mean you have to realize that it isn't overly noticeable unless you are focused on only looking for it. Again this is just my opinion no need to insult my vision although I don't see how that's insulting lol. The thing is this isn't ridiculous art because I'm not looking at it from a sexual point of view I'm looking at it from a I think the character had a great arc kind of view. I agree it is sexualized but not to the point of if you aren't looking for it you won't care I mean I'm a straight male who played this game and saw a whole bunch of the concept art and not once did I even think about sexual stuff I just like the characters design as 2 halves of the same personality kind of thing. Funny thing is I agree I hate when characters are over sexualized in media but if it isn't thrown in your face I don't notice this drawing does not throw it in my face I didn't even think about it until the comments section but the game just keeps talking about it like it's the point of the game... Not a fan of that...

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Character Designer Celebrates Third Anniversary With Some New Artwork

@TG16_IS_BAE this is my opinion you are free to disagree but the point of the drawing and their designs is to bring out the color scheme of the clothing on them which is awesome with the red and green and white and just a nice drawing of the character. The problem isn't the drawing it'd just the cool space people from the cool sci fi game. The problem is people who decide to see it in a way that is not cool. Again, the people viewing it like that are at fault not this artist who was just making what is in my opinion a great drawing of some cool character designs I especially like how they have the m_____ (not spoiling the game haha) on them which just makes the design so cool to me. Yes it is wrong to view them the way they are saying, but what I'm saying is a lot of people just like the character for the story and coolness of the design not... That...

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Character Designer Celebrates Third Anniversary With Some New Artwork

@Einherjar Its not the design but how they did like 4 scenes that went on too long commenting on the designs in an immature and annoying way. I actually love the design mostly for the color scheme but it's the games self commentary that's annoying not the designs. I just felt the zekrnator and jokes like that are part of the charm of the game while the jokes made about mostly mythra and pyra were just trying to get laughs out of anime fans who love that stuff. It's funny because i love their character arc and think it's the highlight of the game besides Jin and haze and that absolutely fantastic combat. It's just feels like the games OWN dialogue objectifies them instead of maybe having jokes that fit in with zekinator and stuff it just felt tacked on and like it didn't belong with the charm of the other characters nor the story as a whole so it just feels like it didn't quite belong in the game at all. Again I like these designs but it's like c'mon you don't need to bring revealing clothing and such up in dialogue in multiple 4 minute cutscenes. That's where I think it detracts when it is not charming like the other jokes the game makes. I actually love this game but if I could change one thing it would just cut out these few cutscenes. It just doesn't contribute to the charm of any character, and doesn't add to the character of pyra or mythra with the dialogue and it just detracts most for feeling like such a waste of time when I could be learning story or learning more about any character or battling monsters.

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Character Designer Celebrates Third Anniversary With Some New Artwork

@SMUGSLOTH69 this game over sexualized it's characters and it detracts from their development and the overarching story with bad jokes and a few more annoying things. My only complaint with the game other than that loved it. Also I gave examples of how characters that were more revealing in other games can have good design that can fit a character or doesn't detract from the character or story but this is not one of those games

Re: Poll: Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & The Blade Of Light Is Out Today, Are You Getting It?

Ghostchip

@COVIDberry don't worry about the dlc it basically adds a ten hours campaign to a game with 4 different stories totalling like 120 hours of play time all you need is the base game and if you are a huge fan of it and play it that 120 hours (don't worry one run is still satisfying you can stop there haha at like 40 hours) and still want more than you buy the dlc the sales tactic is essentially adding a tiny campaign made to appeal to hardcore fans so just buy the original and ignore it if you wish although I did like the dlc haha. Also it adds more than breath of the wilds dlc and costs the same I'm curious if you dislike that tactic as well

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Character Designer Celebrates Third Anniversary With Some New Artwork

Ghostchip

@Einherjar The difference though is that in this game it's just thrown in your face which happens in a lot of games like this one but considering the first one was not like it at all yeah it's kinda annoying and detracts the serious points of the story along with poorly written comedic cutscenes. I love this game but xc1 did not obviously throw this in your face in a anime fashion like this one does a LOT to the point of just being like c'mon. I love the character of pyra and mythra but SO MUCH TIME IS SPENT EVEN IN CUTSCENES JUST THROWONG IT AT YOU it's like hot damn this game had a good character that they made much worse by having cutscenes where some bad joke is made about the revealing clothing or what not. I mean xc1 shined with this without jokes appealing to horny weebs and yeah it has its moments of bad jokes but the comedy never goes far enough to distract from the serious story and although I love this game it's combat is actually much better in my opinion it stumbled hard there and it's a shame. Don't even get me started the blades I mean this game just throws it all over and THAT is not good design. Look at persona when it has slightly revealing designs it either makes sense for the personas personality or is copied off of the myth it's based on which is what you used bayonetta as a reference for that is just people making the best design that suites the character because one of the main points of the game is the demons character and to be able to recognize a mythological beast or more revealing designs adds to how the game is based around the peoples brains and the fact these designs are so good they have been in use since smt is a impressive feat

Re: Community: Found A Great Game On Switch eShop? Send Us Your Recommendations

Ghostchip

@JimmySpades celeste? It's one of the easiest 2d platformers I've played unless you are hundred percenting it which is just there for community fun. And this game respawns you instantly right at the obstacle you missed instantly with no penalty this is the very definition of challenging yet fair. It's painfully obvious that you just arent good at the game which is fine but even so this game is not a large challenge to best at all. My 7 year old sister who doesn't play videogames beat it with me for fun when she's only played Mario before. man I'm curious how you will react when you play an actually hard game that actually punished you for being garbage lol which is funny considering this game is on the easier end of the hard game spectrum. Now hundred percenting that is insanely difficult but it's for fun and bragging so just don't do it if you don't want to

Re: Nintendo Hacker Who Stole "Confidential Information" Sentenced To Three Years In Prison

everyone deserves redemption and as young and dumb as he was I think maybe he will learn from his mistakes after seeing the consequences. These may be very serious (and quite frankly disgusting) crimes but you don't know what this guy went through and even though he may deserve a harsh punishment talking about the death of a man is no joke and our government would be committing a worse crime than he did (arguably)

Edit I think I responded to the wrong person so I just removed the at haha

Re: Soapbox: If The Smash Community Wants To #SaveSmash, It Needs To Start From Within

@Damo agreed friend. We need to vocalize these problems, but I also see no problem with calling nintendo out for doing something pretty bad in a pandemic. Although this is a good article with a valid opinion and I am very happy it exists because it could help get the word out and make people aware. At the same time though I do feel this represent ing the whole community like it is is a little over reaching. I mean it's a big community with so many people that when a few people do something bad yeah it's horrific and we should call them out like this article does but the community should save itself when nintendo does something like this because rthen the majority which are good people can enjoy the events taking place.
