Re: Grant Kirkhope Appears To Have Completed His Work On Mario + Rabbids

Felixfromdownunder

@karlhendrikse right!? that's my problem with sparks, it's like kindom battle 0.5 in a lot of ways, why does the loading screen come up for just opening the menu? why are the only skins now? why the hell can't you play as rosalina post game? why are the special ability animations all the same now and interrupt gameplay? it's all a death by a thousand cuts for me. i'm sure it's probably a fun enough time but i just couldnt get over how less it is compared to kingdom battle that i stopped playing 5 hours in and then traded it in to get tears of the kingdom for free

Re: Grant Kirkhope Appears To Have Completed His Work On Mario + Rabbids

Felixfromdownunder

i loved the first one but i don't know exactly why but i can't stand sparks of hope. The music of course is not the problem, but kingdom battle felt way more focused and like mario and team waging a war to protect the mushroom kingdom. I really hate how sparks does the like pokemon thing where all battles (so far at least) take place in like this void. the immersion (never thought i'd use that phrase in a mario game) just felt weird.

Re: Random: Bayonetta 3's Director Was Worried Hideki Kamiya Would Interfere

Felixfromdownunder

@Cashews yeah fair enough, i'd agree to disagree, i also think multiverse stories are becoming a cheap gimmick and that unless there's a meaninful reason beyond shallow fan service ya shouldn't use it. I do still think the whole alternate timeline thang was terribly done, though a cool enough idea following on from the end of 2, jeanne and bayo im pretty sure were heavily implied and all im saying that if they were to pair bayo up with anyone, it should have been with someone with prior genuine mutal chemistry. also the science fiction motiff would have been better as a traditional biblical fantasy. But also while i really, really begrudge what bayo 3 turned out to be, i did actually enjoy playing it and if you love it, power to ya

Re: Random: Bayonetta 3's Director Was Worried Hideki Kamiya Would Interfere

Felixfromdownunder

@Cashews it's clear you love bayo 3 and i love that u love it, but i just can't understand why they did what they did. to me the game was just abysmally disappointing in all aspects but the combat. i want to love it, like really, but i just can't get over all the problems that the game has. eg. the left field romance between luka and bayonetta, he was always a buffoon and any affection bayo had shown him in previous games was either sarcastic or purely platonic, jeanne should have been the love interest that would have made sense. then jeanne being stabbed in the back felt just contrived seeing as she's a which who supposedly see's everything coming and is super strong and hard skinned, it felt like she only was killed by that because the plot needed her to. I just feel frustration whenever i think of the story. Aside from the story i loved the weapons and viola was a neat character, i do wish there were three times the amount of costumes you can unlock like in previous games i couldnt believe it when i realised the poultry 6 or whatever were the only ones,(where the hell's the police officer, kamino, swimsuits!?) like come on just transfer the bonus costumes from previous games if you're out of ideas. And i get the game was meant to be open world and they wanted to get 60fps but the graphics just look bad, not terrible, but way worse than even bayo 2 from 8 years ago.

Re: Random: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Contains A Cute Nod To BOTW's Champions' Ballad DLC

Felixfromdownunder

i really hate that zelda just steals our house! wtf i put all the champions weapons on the wall and she chucks that stuff in the garbage and replaces them with her own photos!? also i complete botw 100% but since i replayed it all my progress is carried over from the save file that i only played for like 10 hours with, so no champions picture is in my house, and the only horse i have now is clop, a 3 star horse i used for 10 minutes. WTF

Re: LEGO 2K Drive Will Include Real Money Transactions

Felixfromdownunder

this makes me sad, it's a LEGO videogame. where supposedly all your dreams of building with all the parts and minifigures you could imagine can come to life, but because of capitalsim now they have to pervert the main great element of a lego videogame just for moneys. hate this

Re: Video: New Switch Hardware Won't Stop Bad Ports

Felixfromdownunder

what the heck is with you guys asserting that No Man's Sky is "one of the best ports on the system". It's just not. it looks barely less ugly than the Ark port and the frame rate tanks in the late game with base building making the endgame simply not fun. i hate to be a conspiracy theorist but is it because you guys got to interview sean murray before launch? or because you only played it for 10 hours?

Re: Review In Progress: No Man's Sky - Right Up There With The Very Best Switch Ports

Felixfromdownunder

@Justaguest totally agree. i felt the same about The Outer Worlds switch port. it's just too muddy. it breaks immersion when pop-in occurs everytime you turn around and the graphics are just barely maintaining legibility. i don't understand how these reviewers keep saying things like "it's far from unplayable", like sure it's playable, but is it Enjoyable? i guess they're not actually playing most of these games to completion. or the fact they got to interview the devs softened their critical thinking skills

Re: Marvel's Midnight Suns Gameplay Shows Card-Based Strategy With A Bit Of Fire Emblem

Felixfromdownunder

I hate how "cosmetic only microtransactions" are now seen as a good thing, like sure it's better than microtransactions infused with the game's leveling progression.
But that's like instead of a city getting nuked, it's just getting carpet bombed.
It's not actually necessary for big games these days to have microtransactions because "the cost of making games is getting too big".
They're doing this because they'll make higher profit, and the idea that a superhero game is going to sell fan favourite costumes on top of the 60 bucks is telling me that one of the most exciting aspects of a superhero game(playing as one's favorite superhero) is going to be monetized, cosmetic or not it still negatively impacts the game's quality

Re: Best Free Switch Games - Download And Play Right Now

Felixfromdownunder

Just a PSA, Warface on switch is now an almost unplayable disaster as since crossplay was added it lags like crazy no matter what region one chooses, it can't be understated how laggy the game is on switch.
The developer has all but abandoned the game only updating it to add new weapons to the shop, also the game is just straight up pay to win with God tier guns being sold for upwards of 50 bucks each.

So nintendolife I reckon you might want to remove warface from future lists

Re: DOOM Slayers Collection Looks Set For Switch

Felixfromdownunder

That's a great deal! Too bad I've already bought all of them individually and played them to completion!
Why can't they release a collection of games that aren't already on the switch!?
Give me Fallout Anthology, Wolfenstein quadruple pack, Dishonored collection or even morrowind/oblivion!
Alas, almost definitely wont happen at this point

Re: Video: Here's Digital Foundry's Technical Analysis Of Apex Legends On Switch

Felixfromdownunder

@jarvismp With respect mate, you clearly havnt played ARK or Skyforge. The performance Apex on switch is definitely something to criticize and it WILL be a turn off for some. But it is league's more competant than the "worst ports" on switch. I have got the Victory Royale 20 times in my 30 hours so far and dont know how that would have changed if I was playing on my xbox but at the very worst I would say that switch players are at a not insignificant disadvantage in firefights with large numbers of players in a concentrated area. That's when the framerate really does tank
