Update: The Doom Slayers Collection has now been revealed and is available on the Switch eShop for $34.99 USD.
If you like the DOOM series and capitalised game titles, then the Switch certainly has you covered. Nintendo's little system has kept up with the recent - rather good - re-releases of the older titles, and has even had very solid versions of the most recent demon slaying epics.
Ahead of Quakecon, however, it does seem that Best Buy has dropped a reveal (hat-tip to VGC). It's listed Doom Slayers Collection for a 2nd September retail release on Nintendo Switch; this is a bundle that's previously arrived on PS4 and Xbox One. Based on the listing, though, the Switch will have the series' N64 entry thrown in, which wasn't included in the Sony and Microsoft iterations.
To summarise, the collection looks set to include the following.
Though many have likely already bought the older titles as downloads, the lure of a physical edition is always tough to resist.
We'll keep an eye out for official confirmation; in the meantime let us know if you'd pick this up!

This can't be a complete on the cart release...can it?
@GrailUK even the original release of doom 2016 didnt fit all the way on the cart so I doubt it
And some of us feel a little jipped since we jumped in on the LRG releases...Oh well.
It will probably be Doom 2016 in its entirety on a cart, with the rest being downloads, like the collection on the other consoles. It's a shame they didn't consider Doom Eternal for a physical release...
Still need to play Doom eternal and slightly pissed it's digital only on switch.
This is curious, considering the recent sale of a DOOM Classic Collection through Limited Run Games.
That collection consists of DOOM, DOOM II, and DOOM 3, it doesn't include 64 or the 2016 title.
No Way all of these games will be released together on the cartridge. Not that it matters since I have Doom (2016), Doom 64, and Doom Classics Collection physical for Switch anyway... I want a physical release of Doom Eternal for Switch, hopefully Limited Run makes it happen.
I actually want Doom Eternal on cartridge - not another collection of older games...
Is this the "test" to see if physical Doom Eternal is worth releasing on Switch? Depends what's on this cart, but it is likely to be a second run Doom 2016 cart with DL codes for the older games as others have stated.
I would have liked to have seen Wolfenstein New order and Old blood on Switch too.
I have every DOOM available on Switch and I love them all, great stuff.
I'm personally thinking that this may be all the classic Doom games (Doom, Doom 2, Doom 3 and Doom 64) on cart plus the single player for Doom 2016 and you'll likely have to download the multiplayer component like they did the first time. That approach would fit nicely on a 16gb Switch cart.
I only have Doom 1 on switch so I'll 100% grab this if it drops over here
@GrailUK the ps4 and Xbox ones didnt… I believe codes were involved… I’m sure I read that as that’s why I held off as I already had downloaded versions.
If all on the cart this is day one. For sure
Considering that the PS4/Xbox release merely contained the base edition of DOOM 2016 (presumably with no updates) and the rest as download codes, I am not in the least optimistic about this UNLESS it includes the entirety of DOOM 2016 on a 32GB cart, in which case, I would most happily double dip.
@GrailUK : Definitely not. All five games combined exceed 32GB, meaning that it would require a 64GB cart, and Bethesda is cheap enough as it is.
@Sahnec : It wasn’t that it didn’t fit; the cheapskates didn’t want to spring for a 32GB cart.
@TreonsRealm : You would need a 32GB cart for that. The single player portion of DOOM 2016 was around 13GB, and the other games combined add around another 13GB to that.
Wait, and I'm still awaiting my Doom Collection (1-3) from Limited Run Games??
This has got to be a joke, right??
@AmplifyMJ How did you get on with Eternal? Rate it higher than 2016? I haven't bought it yet, partly because of my backlog but also because I've been considering getting a Series S for Gamepass. However that would mean i can never complete my Switch Doom collection, which would annoy me.
I'm playing Wolfenstein 2 at the moment and I highly recommend it, if you've never played it.
@Bunkerneath I quit collecting games partly because of the mess all these limited print companies made of it. In terms of overlapping releases, incomplete games that later got another release, too many different companies, too many different stores with their exclusives, too much shipping and import fees and taxes,... Wanting too much, and getting too little joy from it.
@OorWullie 2016 vs Eternal, in my experience... I couldn't stop playing 2016 (since its gyro aim patch) until well after finishing the entire game twice with 100% of the collectibles. Eternal, I didn't finish yet. I was well on my way and enjoying it, but suddenly there was this point where the game said something about not being able to return to earlier levels for a while beyond a certain point. I wanted all collectibles and upgrades and missed a few, but at that point I just wanted to move on. So I did neither, and the game lost its momentum that kept me going. I keep telling myself I'll get back to it, and I probably will, but I'd say I actually enjoyed 2016 more, but Eternal is definitely not a worse game, it just lost me at that point.
@OorWullie I have Wolf2 thank you! I really enjoyed it. As for Eternal, it took me a little while to get in to it for some reason! I ended up loving it though, right up there with 2016 for me, not much between them!
No doom eternal on cart no sale.
@GrailUK @RupeeClock If a 32 GB cartridge is used I think it's possible. Or perhaps Bethesda will make Doom 2016 multiplayer a separate download as they did with the first print of the game and squeeze this all on a 16 GB cartridge? Although it would be nice to have an updated Doom 2016 complete on cartridge.
Unless they put all games on something like a 32 gigabyte cart, I highly doubt that all games are going on it, or at least 2016 being absent. But either way, it's always good to have a wide spread physical version of these games
@Flashlink99 it wouldn’t even fit in the cartridge. Switch uses 16GB cartridges if I remember correctly and if I remember correctly Doom Eternal on Switch is 18GB.
If you want a physical copy for every game ON Switch. Then blame Nintendo for not using cartridges with more space or to be a bit more specific, blame Nintendo for STILL using cartridges
@HollowSpectre it’s 30 dollars on the Eshop currently
@GrailUK impossible. DOOM 2016 is already too big. Can’t fit on cartridge
@anoyonmus Doom Eternal could fit on a 32 gb cart with both Ancient Gods dlc included. 18 gb is only the base game. I would be fine even with the base game and dlc separately, just don’t make me download over 20 gb on my already full sd card
@Flashlink99 yes but that isn’t gonna happen
@anoyonmus Nintendo Switch cartridges are available up to 64 GB, but no publishers opt to use it. And there are a few publishers that have used 32 GB cartridges. Square Enix with FF X/X-2 and Dragon Quest Heroes I & II. As well as CDPR with The Witcher III.
@anoyonmus you may be right, but we can still dream…
Until then I won’t buy Doom Eternal, even though I have patiently waited for it since 2019
Curious as to which are downloads and which are on the cart.
Freaking awesome! DOOM is the best fps on the planet!
@RupeeClock ikr I bought all of them I'm still waiting on the doom 1,2&3 collection from lrg but already own the doom 2016 and doom 64 physical. They should put doom eternal physical if they are gonna make a physical game then.
I saw and read this:
https://www.nintendoenthusiast.com/doom-slayers-collection-apparently-coming-to-switch-next-month/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter
And there it list one that wasn't suppose to be Physical.
The Doom franchise in particular has received a whopping six releases on Switch, including Doom, Doom II, Doom 3, Doom 64, Doom (2016), and Doom Eternal
The Last one is interesting.....????
Also I am guess but this this big release those LRG collection prices will drop as well from eBay sellers. Now that buyers can get all 6 in One collection.
Regardless if whether all games are on the cart or not (likely not), this is a great bundle for those who haven't played any of the Doom games on Switch.
@tonyp1987
I suspect that Bethesda might be waiting for Doom Eternal to be DLC complete before they try for a Switch physical release.
It will take some miracles to get that game to fit on a 32GB cartridge.
Day 1 purchase for me!
@Shambo I agree. Game collecting too much $$. Shantae slip cover to put all 5 games into is currently going for $100 on ebay! It's just a box!! LOL
@stuntz0rZ Shantae slip cover for $100 on ebay!
Holy Pirates.....
@RupeeClock now we have to figure whom is telling us the truth from Bethesda if we get Eternal on cart or not? As the link I posted says we get Eternal on cart or not??
@stuntz0rZ that's insane... But hey, the whole world has clearly gone utterly insane anyway.
I do still buy physical games, I prefer them that way, but the kind of "low print" that are available in regular stores. Not full price AAA games, not insanely expensive strictly limited prints, but games like Vampyr, Wargroove, Sayonara Wild Hearts, Little Nightmares (1 and 2), Iris Fall,... To name a few, and rarely did I pay full ("budget") price for any of them as well. I get them when they're at their probably cheapest ever, when I really want them.
Well that was lame and a waste of hype. At least I know the Limited Run Games version of the Doom Collection will be all on the cart, I do have all of them on physical now, just need Doom Eternal.
@SwitchForce They already updated that info so Doom Eternal is not included as part of the collection and only Doom 2016 is on the cartridge while the rest are just download codes.
@Specter_of-the_OLED yea stinks but hopefully they changed their minds.
That's a great deal! Too bad I've already bought all of them individually and played them to completion!
Why can't they release a collection of games that aren't already on the switch!?
Give me Fallout Anthology, Wolfenstein quadruple pack, Dishonored collection or even morrowind/oblivion!
Alas, almost definitely wont happen at this point
Or free on Game Pass.
