While im not sure you could buy a PC with the GPU power of the OneX AT $499, slightly more (like $100) could net you the same GPU power + much more CPU power. Considering you have to add XboxLive + more expensive games, im not sure is still worth what you are paying for the OneX compared to a PC (in reasonable priced countries at least like USA, well also in Europe too which we know 499 euros =/= 499 dollars)

Sold my PS4 a while back and never looked back, i was tempted to buy a a PS4Pro or a One X sice i do have a 4k TV but not worth it, my PC does a fine job at running games at 4k, medium/high settings at 30fps locked so it would be essentially the same... i do need a way (a cable maybe?) to connect my Pc to my TV without having to move my tower lol

that looked like the worst Monster Hunter game ive ever seen

DMC all over again, mainline will probably stick to Nintendo actually

@OfNullAndVoid Honestly, i think the real problem here is that you cant really sell 60fps to the people, hence most developers rather crank up the graphical quality of a game instead of the frame rate.

Higher framerate = Better gameplay 100% of the times, at this point, just a handful of games have better gameplay because they have better graphics; most games are the same, they just look nicer, which comes to the problem, its much easier to sell pretier graphics than smoother animation.

PS4Pro and OneX could have gone the better 1080p60 lane, and give everyone a better gameplay experience, but how do you sell them ? most people dont recognize the benefits of better framerate until they take the control in their hands and realize not only how much better a game can look when being smoother, but how much better the gameplay is, you feel much more in control of whats happening.

Which is why i always praise nintendo, sure their games dont push the boundaries of graphics but they push 60fps, and that makes games better just for the sake of it. Of course there are games (Zelda) that can get away with a lower frame rate to show a bigger world, detailed scenery, etc... but most nintendo games rather sacrifice some quality for a much better experience.

And thats the reason i rather go for PC gaming instead of the PS4Pro and OneX, i can mix those 2 settings as much as i want

@OfNullAndVoid I mean, theres no console capable of doing 4k/60 like at all, unless you go less than low settings

My PC can do medium/high settings 4k/30fps locked no problem, RX 480 8GB OCd to 1400/2175, Ryzen 5 1600 OCd to 3.9ghz, 16gb DDR4 @3200mhz

the Switch should be all about portability honestly, it was makes the Switch stand out, of course being able to use it as a home console helps too, the 2 joycons being detachtable makes everything also much smoother when it comes to co-op play.

Im happy about it, cant wait for me to buy it (in September as i will be in LA for vacations, its much cheaper in USA)

Honestly, pretty sure they want to save the pokemon game on the switch for when the console slows down a little bit (next year/version) and they have enough supply for the stampede that would generate a new REAL pokemon game on the Switch

not worth it just for a remaster/remake/wathever Ultra Mon/Sun is considering they cant get enough supply for what its right now in the market

@Musashiden wut ? Splatoon was bought by more or less a 1/3 of WiiU owners (4.5 millions), you really think people arent hyped over Splatoon 2 ?

it will be a massive month for the Switch when Splatoon releases

And again, March is a pretty awful month for consoles... this is not even holidays, if nintendo can keep the momentum throught this year we can see the Switch doing incredibly well for the rest of its lifespan (good first year = third party support)

Unless you pay for the access to online gaming you are not getting the entire experience of the game you actually paid full price for

Why the F do i have to pay a monthly fee to access stuff on a game ive already paid for ? Why is part of MY GAME being stuck behind a wall ? Theres so much wrong with this paid system that it blows my mind people just go and pay like its nothing.

@PotatoTheG Im with you there, PS+ was so good on the PS3, but its so bad on PS4 is not even funny.

Steam has the best infrasctructure, the best party system, the best voice system, incredibly fast servers, great online, its secure, has a big community and Valve its expanding on that.

Going for a different approach is, in my book, the way Nintnedo can keep their consoles in the game (yes, the WiiU was a disaster but i blame that on the lack of actual advertising and "knowing what the hell is supposed to do that thing" than the console itself)

The only reason to use newer arch would be to have a chip that would run cooler and be more power efficient, but even thats not important because its all up to what Nintendo wants with the Switch.

Assuming this stuff is portable, i was expecting Pascal, but a heavy modified Maxwell (to run cooler and use less energy) is pretty much the same. And Ps4 power ? i mean, its totally possible but this thing is portable, not even top of the line phones have the power of the PS4 and those cost almost 2.5 times the price of the Switch

"3 HOUR BATTERY LIFE" --> Who knows, its a rumour, and even if its true, most tablets run out of juice incredibly fast while gaming, pretty much any tablet would die in less than 4 hours in full gaming... so im not sure what are you expecting.

"No more details till january" --> Weird, but not that far fetched considering the console IS coming in March and giving too much info on the NS might hurt their 3DS/WiiU sales on the holiday season, Nintendo is pretty much trying to sell as much 3DS/WiiU they can before the NS drop

The hypest pokemon game is coming (thanks to Pokemon Go), saing the NS will kill the 3DS is stupid, Nintendo might hit a record this holiday if Sun/Moon is everything that it seems to be

The lastest tablets all run out of juice in under 3-4h when gaming.

So, sure i would have loved a little bit more of juice (if thats its true), but running those specs while playing zelda and what 5-7 hours ? you are honestly dreaming

the thing is, the gamepad was PART of the WiiU, it was integral (ok, it wasnt because nobody knew what to do with it, Nintendo wanted to believe it was...) to the part of the console... you bought into it

@cleveland124 The base unit WILL come with a dock, the probably is that there might be docks also sold separatly to have 1 on the living room and aonther in your room, for example.

you NEED the dock considering what we know so far because its the charging station

The only big "?" for me is that if the 3DS will keep on going or not, thats about it

Otherwise i think the message was well done and people pretty much knows this is the next step for Nintendo.

@sandman89 Thats another situation tho, because that would be a special bundle, im pretty sure the core one would come with the dock

Hopefully, if they do that, they market it well enough so people can realize that the one without the dock is just a special version for special cases and not the "norm"

Probably because if you say a lot about the NS now, youll probably miss some potential buyers on the xmass holidays, they pretty much want to keep the 3DS/WiiU as relevant as possible to sell a few more before the NS

@XCWarrior Come on dude, the dock is like a 100% part of the console, it will come with the Switch.

Battery life must be still in propper balancing, would not be surprised if the console is still on being built or in test.
and no backwards compatible seems so obvious, the wiiU had PowerPC arch, this one has ARM (maybe iOS/Android ports ? that could be pretty huge)

Yeah, theres a lot of "jumping ship" or low term investors that cant risk the new announcement because they might end up losing money and for their strategy of buying and selling in short periods thats a no go.
