I'm with Thomas here. I find the auto-stereoscopic 3D absolutely brilliant. I always have the 3D at the maximum setting, even though I only have the very first model 3DS. It's really unique, pretty, and fun.
Honestly, I've never been disappointed with Nintendo consoles or games, so I'm simply looking forward what they have to offer. It's exciting, really. The internet has so much of an effect on people, we seem not not to realize it anymore. Whether or not it's gimmicky or whatever, does it really matter? Weren't the games top notch recently? They were, I believe. You can't seriously be worried about a company going bankrupt, now can you? And that's the only thing you might be worried about. Other than that it's just an opinion you want to force on others. Nintendo's great, has always been, and I'm glad I can witness how it evolves.
This was nothing. It was made sure by taking the picture from that exact angle that you can clearly make out the sticker saying 'confidential property'. As if it was necessary to be there.
No offense, but anyone who was fooled either really wanted it to be real or, well, rather gullible.
It's funny how the lowest annual income option is 10.000 GBP+ per year. I earn so much less than that. Then again, buying expensive video games is not meant for folks from sh**ty countries.
It looks like it's a mixture of the last couple of Mario & Luigi games, which I'm more than fine with, as I'm an avid fan of the series. Maybe it was a bit rushed and a lot of things seem to be rehashed, but it's a day one buy for me nonetheless.
I had the same experience with SMB3. After months of learning to play Super Mario (SMB3 was the first Super Mario game I played), I finally managed to get to the airship in the first world. When I beat it, bam, I got to world 2. I was shocked and utterly confused, for I would never have imagined that that one map was not the entire game. But, my god, we now very well know that neither is there one, nor are there only two worlds in that game.
Regardless of the fact that I can be a rather emotional person, at the age of 33, I started to think that something was wrong with me when I was crying on and off since his passing away reading fans' comments, watching tribute videos and pictures, re-watching videos he appeared in.
People only really do that if they lose a family member. I am shocked to realize that it is that kind of effect his passing had on me. I'm beginning to believe that only some exceptionally kind, loving, nice (as Lisa has argued), jolly, good men can have such an effect on strangers.
I mean it can't be a coincidence that so many people were heartbroken about losing him. He was not some kind of a movie star teenagers fall in love with — he was, I believe, a genuinely good man, and it is his goodness that has enabled him to touch many of us so remarkably profoundly. Directly.
That site gave us an unprecedented insight into the inner workings of game development. And those interviews were long! There are so many incredible things I got to learn about some fantastic games simply because he just kept doing those interviews. And this is just in addition to the many funny, goofy stuff he was doing when he made a public appearance.
Even though, as most of us, I obviously didn't know him, I will genuinely miss seeing him.
I'm so glad you guys are covering this again, as I'm absolutely thrilled that I am seeing the show in Milan.
When I saw the follow-up news on the show in February here, I though I'd take a look at flight tickets, and found an excellent deal, so I immediately cajoled my friend — an avid fan of A Link to the Past — into considering the trip, and he agreed to join. It's going to be quite the pricey trip, but I know that it will be an experience of a lifetime.
This article brings up a good point as to what I should be wearing for the semi-formal occasion of crying like a baby during the 'Time of the Falling Rain'.
I know this guy. I don't like him. He doesn't show his face, because he's afraid that it would interfere with his career. Oh yeah, he loves Nintendo, but is ashamed to link a face with the avid video game collecting habit. I don't trust faceless people.
I don't really understand why the Wii U hasn't gotten a Mario RPG already. It should at least be in the works — as well as a new on-rails Starfox shooter.
I do think that Mario RPGs are popular amongst the Nintendo fan crowd, so I'm sure it would be rather successful. Yoshi's Woolly World is fine, I will be buying it, but wouldn't a goofy Mario RPG with that style be much better? I think so.
I just can't get over the fact that they are releasing it AFTER the holiday period. My brain WILL explode. This would have been THE main game I play this Christmas, but noooo: I'll play it during my summer days off, no problem, it's almost the same thing. ˇ.ˇ
Anyway, I always considered the DKC series to constantly evolve, and I still believe, therefore, that DKC 3 is the best one. I find the second very gloomy — maybe that's it. Granted, it has some amazing music, but so do the others in the series.
I never understand these comments. There has never been a Club Nintendo in my area (since the mid-nineties, but there were no rewards anyway), yet I'm a happy Club Nintendo member, registered with another country which has a Club Nintendo, so there's no problem. You can't get physical items, since you don't have a local address the goods could be shipped to, but that's fine.
I certainly hope that if this is real, it's free DLC. Otherwise, frankly, screw this.
Nintendo should not be going in this direction. Yes, this would also mean that the new racers and battle modes could have been available from the get-go, but you're gonna have to pay 5 quid or so to have the full package. Fantastic. Call me old-fashioned, but that pisses me off.
What I hope for is an overall support for the Gamecube controller for games that could utilize it well, say, for the Wind Waker HD (I would love that), Mario Kart 8, and anything else that the developers think it would work well with.
@Subaru
I hear him. The one thing that should have been available from the get-go is an account system that lets you redownload titles already bought. It's totally unacceptable this way. And, yes, why would Nintendo feel obligated to create one when people still buy digital anyway? That does, in a way, send the message that it's fine this way.
There is no account system, for God's sakes! Once your Wii U dies, ALL of your conveniently organized purchases — hundreds, nay, thousands of dollars — are gone, just like that.
Even with an account system, once Nintendo (or any other company for that matter that) goes out of business, or stops supporting that segment of their business — allowing to redownload software from their servers in the unfortunate case of somehow losing your data --, your hard-earned gems of games are gone. Whereas, of course, if you can procure a functional console, you're back in business again, since you have your games neatly placed in your favorite drawer, display case, whatnot, waiting to jump right back where the belong.
Of course, if you're thinking in the short term and don't mind losing a lot of money spent over the course of several years, sure, digital all the way. Bah!
This looks real. I can't imagine a Link and Hylians in this environment and setting that are not overly realistic. But does anyone really want to see Link's facial hair and whatnot? On the other hand, if everything was this realistic, but the characters would have a different art style to them, they would be way out of place.
So as much as this is a jaw-dropping demo for some, I don't think it suits the Zelda games' overall artistic style.
@Kolzig
Yes. You have to link your Nintendo Network ID to a UK Club Nintendo account, for instance. That's not too difficult, I guess (unless it somehow interferes with the games you've already purchased via the eShop, as unlinking may lead to your missing some of your purchase bonus points tied to the Nintendo Network Premium Deluxe Digital Promotion — but I'm not sure about any of this; what is for sure that something is bound to change once you unlink), but it is crucial to do so. The other thing to do, as others have said, is to buy a UK physical copy along with the Club Nintendo game-registration code included with it. Of course, if you set your Wii U to the UK region (and do the unlinking a re-linking if necessary) and buy a digital copy of the game, you will get the download code for your free game.
I haven't really thought this through until now, since my physical copies have always come with the Club Nintendo game-registration codes, so all of them must have been UK imports — I don't live in the UK either.
You should be registered to the UK's Club Nintendo (and have your console set to the UK region — though I'm not sure this is necessary), and you should be able to reap the benefits of the promotional offers. I know I did many a time, and we sure as hell don't have a Club Nintendo where I live.
I'm glad that handlehld games are being released on the Wii U, since that way I can play the games on the tv. I never play on the go, so I'm totally disinterested in handheld gaming. Of course, there are a lot of GREAT games on handhelds, so I now have a 3DS, but play on the couch, as if I were playing a home console. I really liked the GameBoy Player for the Gamecube, and that's how I played Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga, for instance, on the TV — without ever owning a handheld console.
So I think it's better to release the games you've only been able to formerly play on tiny screens for the Wii U, to play in the tv, since it gives a sort of a new type of experience with the game. Also, as others mentioned before, it's likely that if there was a simultaneous release for both platforms, the Wii U versions wouldn't sell as well, so, as far as I'm concerned, it's all good!
