How developed is the mech combat and customisation in this?

Not a deal-breaker, but don’t want to get my hopes up for a proper Mech-lite game when it’s not really the case at all.

Is Harvest Moon the good one?

I was confuse this with Story of Seasons, and the OTHER bad Harvest Moon-y game that’s actually just bad.

@Ralizah Probably the best introduction to the Visual Novel genre I could ask for. Really thought it struck a perfect balance of text-to-gameplay.

Haven’t seen many other examples of the genre that were as actively engaging as this.

Loved the story, Lord of the Flies mixed with Battle Royale vibes for me. Voice acting was unbelievable across the board. Yeah, just can’t wait for 2 and 3 to go on sale so I can pick them up!

@aznable It’s not about optics, it’s about maturity and good practise - and tbh it’s also about sheer business sense. Companies are petty things and it’s not a great idea to prejudice one of the biggest against you, whether that’s for business reasons or legal ones

Without seeming too dour, rubs me the wrong way a little that A) VGC would questions a Dev on the actions of another company (outside of particularly serious subjects) and B) That they would so happily stick the boot in.

Reminds me a little of the scene in Better Call Saul when Saul runs the ad without running it by his partners, regardless of the truth of the statement, I don’t think it’s a good look

Playing a switch game for graphics? Not a brilliant decision, playing Pokemon for graphics? Even worse. Arceus is getting brilliant reviews from everywhere, sometimes a good game is just a good game

@michellelynn0976 To be fair there’s hundreds of critics out there, it’s a bit silly to imply they should be in consensus about everything - some reviewers will prefer short games, some will prefer long, yeno.

Has the game added any sort of “item explainer” or something similar? I used to play the game on PC and that was an absolutely essential mod. The blatant Christian theming of the game makes me a bit uncomfortable, but what is confession for eh!

@Meteoroid I mean, a 10 point scale leaves pretty huge gaps between each score, wouldn’t you say? A 7 is ‘probably don’t buy’, and an 8 is ‘buy’ for me. There’s pretty big differences between each one

@Atticus-XI Eh? The game has a 9 here, 82 on metacritic, and generally 8s on every other site I’m seeing - don’t think politics has anything to do with it

Absolutely brilliant game - as a No Man’s Sky lover, feels amazing to play a handheld equivalent to that!

@BlackenedHalo It implies the game has failed at illuminating the concepts, or it’s just straight up too hard - absolutely something to be highlighted imo

I’m perpetually a wee bit worried that a new botw would make this classic a wee bit redundant - I hope the sequel is different enough to really separate the two

Really good game IMO, very simple but not necessary a bad thing

@abdias They’ve released a number of major patches since then, so I’d argue you’re missing out - but I loved it for what it’s worth!
