Update:
We've been advised that the free update originally due today (30th September) has had a small delay to 7th October. That free update will now arrive alongside the paid DLC next week.
Original Article:
The Switch is certainly not short of roguelites, but Children of Morta is a popular game in the genre and is pretty decent on Switch. Now it's been confirmed that Dead Mage's title is getting a paid DLC expansion (priced at $4.99USD) on 7th October; you can see a teaser trailer above.
The main addition is a new playable character; some of the PR blurb is below.
Parallel, albeit distinct lives, can sometimes bond and start a new life, resembling both of their natures. It all becomes clear with the arrival of a warrior with two spirits. This new character expands the established party of available warriors and is playable within the Family Trials mode. This newcomer’s combat mastery and unique playstyle cannot be compared with the skills of anyone else in these lands.
A free update is also rolling out today which "enriches the game with Consecration, a new objective added to the combat-focused Family Trials mode". In addition the update is adding two full localised languages, Persian and Japanese, with the Japanese voiceover being provided by Takaya Hashi (Naruto, Sailor Moon).
Let us know if you're a fan of Children of Morta, and whether you're planning to jump into the free update and DLC!

I am a huge fan of roguelikes but I sort of bounced off of this game. Enjoyed the gameplay but was having trouble with figuring out the meta of it all. But maybe I wasn't in the right frame of mind, going to redownload and give it antoher whirl.
Too many roguelikes and soulslikes out, Death's Gambit: Afterlife is also out today, ack!!
The combat can be rewarding, but the narration/story is unbearable. Just like the above blurb for the DLC, every line in the game sounds likes it’s coming from a pedantic first-time DM who thinks repetition makes for fancy language and who worships the thesaurus like the Bible.
What a good game
This game is straight up AMAZING. Only thing is that the performance can stutter a little bit on switch. Not a big deal though. I loved it!
I loved the story in this game, and even the way it was delivered after each run. So much so, that I wouldn’t let my children play unless I was home just in case another story sequence unlocked.
Wife and I finished it twice, 2nd time on hard. The pets/animal free DLC was cool - would like a big more information on this one to see if it's worth a 3rd playthrough.
NB: played a lot of roguelikes but this one is my fave.
