@Heavyarms55 I think one of the little fallacies people make is assuming the minority group is the one who is less capable.

In the UK, affirmative action works on an interview basis - not hiring. So people implying these things will somehow lead to less qualified people doing jobs is obviously very alien to me!

@Zuljaras The answer to the question depends solely on WHY you think they didn’t do as good.

1) They felt uncomfortable in an IT environment, due to the discrimination against women in the past (my guess)

2) Women are inherently bad at IT

3) Women inherently don’t care about IT or don’t care about education to the extent men do

4) Various soft factors, being made to feel unwelcome etc

@Mountain_Man Nope, that’s wrong.
https://www.payscale.com/data/gender-pay-

The controlled gender pay gap, which controls for job title, years of experience, education, industry, location and other compensable factors, measures equal pay for equal work. The controlled pay gap has also decreased since 2015, but only by $0.01. Women in the controlled group make $0.98 for every $1.00 a man makes, meaning that women are still making less than men even when doing the exact same job.

the controlled gender pay gap increased to as much as $0.78 for positions such as Waiters and Waitresses

@Heavyarms55 Genuinely not having a go. But what if the reason they’re under skilled is intrinsically linked to their ethnicity?

Look at aboriginal people in Australia, who’ve only been permitted to attend university for a few generations or so. Imagine the impact that has had on accruing wealth etc.

Then move to the modern day, is it genuinely fair to judge them with the same eye, when one is affected by historical racism?

@Mountain_Man If hiring policies have been completely fair for 40-50 years (I’m assuming that’s what you believe), and yet 999999% of executives are still male, you can believe two things:

Either there is structural discrimination

OR

Women are inherently genetically inferior because there’s nothing stopping them, but they still can’t reach the top

What is it?

@Mountain_Man This is genuinely the last I’ll say on this. Women being allowed into the workplace is more important than a 8/10 review turning into a 7/10, if you don’t accept that proposition, I don’t know what to tell you.

This is the important bit. If you accept we live in a sexist society (we do), you can’t then ALSO expect companies (who are made of people, who are sexist, as per society) to act completely fair.

This is what you people don’t get. We aren’t playing a fair game. Companies NEED things like this forced upon them, otherwise they can simply grade their own homework and ignore it.
