Re: Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Walkthrough, Tips And Hints

Debo626

@Tharsman If you're going to play either previous game before XC3, try to play both, honestly. They're both great stories. If you can only play one, play 1, as in XC1, as it's a slightly better story with better, more fun combat mechanics, no gacha (Blades), and no anime-waifu-cringe. All opinions are subjective of course, but I feel it's a great disservice to advise you to play XC2 and not the first game. IDK, maybe check out the trailers for each and see which one strikes your fancy. Otherwise, watch one of the many available YouTube videos summarizing the relevant plot points from the first two games and dive straight into XC3. Enjoy, and happy gaming! Xenoblade Chronicles is one of my favorite game series and the first game is pretty much my favorite game of all time, or tied with XCX and BotW. 😁

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Executive Director Teases Series' Future

Debo626

I wonder if the fact that he says "...the conclusion of the Xenoblade story that began with Klaus’s experiment." leaves open any room for remastering XCX, or continuing that story. It would be nice to see that game get reworked with some QOL updates and a "Future Connected"-type short cliffhanger-resolving extra story included for a Switch port.

Re: Designing The Characters For Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Was Apparently 'Hellish'

Debo626

While my favorite is and likely always will be XC:DE, I'm wicked hyped for this and can't wait for my cart from the special edition to get here. I'm really glad the characters aren't designed to be half naked over-sexualized embarrassments. It'll be nice to be able to play on the big TV without wondering if I'll get an awkward comment from the neighbors.

Re: Hideki Kamiya: Nintendo Hasn't Ever Asked Platinum To Cover Up Bayonetta

Debo626

@TimeGuy You're not wrong. I just summarized quick. "Agoraphobia[1] is a mental and behavioral disorder,[5] specifically an anxiety disorder characterized by symptoms of anxiety in situations where the person perceives their environment to be unsafe with no easy way to escape.[1]" - straight from Wikipedia. I have it, and it affects me as a strong aversion to crowds, but there are definitely other symptoms too, depending on the person. Thanks for clarifying. 🙂

Re: Hideki Kamiya: Nintendo Hasn't Ever Asked Platinum To Cover Up Bayonetta

Debo626

@Not_Soos Um, just responding to this line: "an agoraphobia slider that removes spiders;" did you mean an "arachnophobia" slider? Lol. "Agoraphobia" is a fear of crowded places, not spiders.
That said, I agree with you that modes like this should be an option. I don't agree with any premise of censorship being forced. (I know your comment didn't advocate for forced censorship; I was just drawing a comparison.)
Have a great day and happy gaming! 😁

Re: Poll: So, How Do You Pronounce 'Live A Live'?

Debo626

I never imagined it to be anything other than "live" with a long "i" sound followed by "alive" which also has a long "i" sound. The other pronunciations would literally never have occurred to be as being correct. 🤷‍♂

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Special Edition Pre-Orders Go Live June 30th (US)

Debo626

I waited from 12:50 this afternoon til just about 20 minutes ago (roughly 18:30 I guess) and it all of a sudden brought up the pre-order page and I was able to get one ordered. Haven't seen the confirmation email yet but it shows up in my Nintendo account under my order history, so I guess/hope that means good things. Now the million G question is will they ship it early to arrive on launch day. 🙄

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Reveals More Details For Character Classes And Arts

Debo626

@nhSnork
"For Swordfighter, Heavy Guard, Medic Gunner (all from Agnus), their gauge fills up over time. While for Zephyr, Crusher, Tactician (the Keves classes), their gauge fills up by auto-attacking"

Isn't it Noah, Eunie and Lanz who hail from Keves (which appears to house former Bionis/Mechonis races)? -----it is; I think the translation or the article swapped it by mistake. It's likely the characters from Keves will recharge via a timed delay, like XC1, and the characters from Angus will recharge via auto-attacking, like XC2.

Re: Nintendo Shares The Basics For Xenoblade Chronicles 3's Battle System

Debo626

This game is going to be truly wonderful. The combat looks to be a solid improvement over that of 2, and possibly almost as good as 1. The exploration promises to be the most epic yet, as we might have a truly open world like XCX but with a great story also. As always, the soundtrack will be amazing. How awesome they've moved it up! No one does that! 😂

Re: Poll: Will You Play Splatoon 2's DLC Now That It's Included In Switch Online's Expansion Pack?

Debo626

I'm not sure there's anything that Nintendo could add to be worth an $80 yearly family plan price. It's just too much money. I prefer to prioritize playing, and setting aside money to play, major tentpole releases, like the upcoming XC3, over allocating such a large amount of fundage for the ability to play online and have access to some retro games. Plus, like all DLC, I'd rather buy it and own it than rent it with the expansion pack. The second the user no longer feels the expansion pack brings enough value to continue purchasing, or the second Nintendo shuts down the servers, the user loses access to that content. That unfortunate truth paired with the still-too-smegging-expensive price, and it's a big fat no-bet for me.

Re: Best Nintendo Switch Single Player Games

Debo626

@moodycat I couldn't agree more about not including XC1. 1 is my favorite of the numbered games right now, mainly due to the combat (which I may be a minority in preferring) and the voice acting. The second game is also glitchy (walk around with whomever as your lead character and press the jump button, for example. In XC1, the character always makes the jump sound; in XC2, it happens about half the time, just as an example). And not being able to continue auto-attacking while repositioning your character to take advantage of position-specific attack bonuses (think "back slash" or "slit edge") was a huge turnoff for me with 2's combat that did tremendous damage to my ability to enjoy the game. I can't wait for 3, but I hope they've fixed this so it's back to being like 1 and X. Can't tell yet from the trailers shown so far.

Re: Feature: Will These 10 Classic JRPGs Ever Come To Switch?

Debo626

@ShadowofTwilight22 I understand your point, and while I don't disagree about the alleged quality of the remake (I've heard the same thing from other people), not being able to see it for myself on a Nintendo console, when a Nintendo console made the original game famous, is just wrong imo.

Re: Feature: Will These 10 Classic JRPGs Ever Come To Switch?

Debo626

I want the remastered version of Secret of Mana. It's ridiculous that it's a Sony exclusive when the original game was a SNES masterpiece, and beyond iconic to boot. That game should have been brought to Switch on day 1, and IMHO it's inexcusable that it's not come to Switch in the years since its PlayStation release.

Re: Nintendo Updates Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Game Page With Stunning New Artwork

Debo626

I'm looking forward to this a great deal as I'm a huge fan of the series. The artstyle looks incredible and the colors are so vibrant and dazzling, it really is going to be very visually impressive. The exploration should be enjoyable too, as there are clearly landmarks from 1 and 2 scattered throughout. There should be plenty of cool references for longtime fans. My only nervous hope/wish right now is that the combat is closer to that in XC1 (with a proper battle palette with more than 4 arts, the ability to continue auto-attacking while repositioning to take advantage of position-specific arts bonuses, and chain attacks that aren't a confusing mess) than XC2 (where the player is literally punished for repositioning in battle by much slower movement and no auto-attacks). Honestly, I love the story in both games, though I do find the characters in 2 to be noticeably more campy and cheesy, but I hope the dialog is written to be more emotional and heartwarming like 1 rather than as campy and goofy as 2. The story of 2 was great, but the writing and voice acting were hit and miss.
Anyway, since BotW's sequel has been delayed, we'll have plenty of time for this.

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles 3

Debo626

@Vortexeo Same! And now we're not getting BotW's sequel, this is basically my only anticipated game this year but what a game! This is tied with Zelda for my favorite game series, and XC1 is my favorite game story ever. I can't wait for 3! 😁

Re: Random: Requests For Zelda Ports Increase Following BOTW 2 Switch Delay

Debo626

@Matty1988 XCX on Switch would be a day 1 buy for me. I'm not remotely interested in any old Zelda ports. Maybe a complete HD remake of Zelda 1, preferably in the ALBW or Switch LA art style. But I couldn't care less to play WW and TP specifically again. Thank goodness XC3 is coming out this year. This delay, of BotW's sequel, is actually a blessing in disguise since it gives me a bunch of time to play through XC3.

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Has Been Rated In Australia

Debo626

@Truegamer79 The first one is my favorite, but the second is an awesome game too. The story is really good as well, and like the first, has plenty of emotion and heart. I'd at least check out the story cutscenes before going through 3 if it were me, since there are some confirmed returning characters from each game. Knowing their backstory might provide some context to their actions in 3.

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Has Been Rated In Australia

Debo626

@MegaMari0 "F" I'm so sorry to hear about your gamepad. Gotta hand it to your son though; he did try to be considerate and do the right thing. I'm sure it was a sad day at your house though. I'd agree; trying to get a new Wii U at this point wouldn't be a good investment. Their price has skyrocketed since there's only 13.5-and-a-bit million out there. Watching the cutscenes is an ok substitute I guess for playing through it, but the story wasn't even really the point of XCX; it was the exploration and combat gameplay. I hope for your sake they do port it to Switch or a future system so you get the chance to enjoy it all the way through. In the meantime, hopefully XC3 is as good as the first two.

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Has Been Rated In Australia

Debo626

@MegaMari0 Myself as well. Le sigh. 😫 I played over 900 hours of XCX on the Wii U and I'd buy and play it again in a heartbeat if they'd port it. Maybe next year? If the Switch is really at the "midpoint" of its life, there's still hope.

@Truegamer79 I hope you love it. The story and characters are so well done it's like playing through a really good anime with a huge open world. Have you played XC2 yet? If not, and it's too much, I've advised a gamer friend of mine to watch the cutscenes on YT to catch up with the story before XC3; might be an option for you too if time is in short supply. 😁

Re: Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Has Been Rated In Australia

Debo626

@Truegamer79 They are well worth your time. XC1 is my favorite game story of all time, and tied with BotW and XCX for my favorite game full stop. If you have XC:DE on Switch, the quest tracking makes the side quests significantly more manageable. Just go slow, take your time and enjoy it, and try not to get overwhelmed. Played to completing all the sidequests, it's about a 100 - 125 hour adventure. More if you want to level every playable character all the way with arts and skills and whatnot. But the main reason I think it's worth it is the story is amazing and has plenty of "feels" moments, and the exploration and combat gameplay are simply amazing. I hope you give it another go. Good luck! 😁

Count me among the number who are massively excited for XC3.
