Rocket League Partners With Grimes For 'Neon Nights' In-Game Event

The latest in-game event for Rocket League will be called "Neon Nights", featuring music and cosmetics themed around the singer Grimes, who is perhaps best known for her song "Oblivion" and her relationship and child with tech entrepreneur Elon Musk. In anticipation of her new album, BOOK 1, and its single "Shinigami Eyes", the singer has partnered up with the car-football game to promote her brand and music.

Neon Nights will give players the chance to unlock Grimes-themed items to pimp their rides, available only through new Event Challenges:

• "Shinigami Eyes" player anthem
• GRIMES gravitator
• Space Queen topper
• Braided trail
• Grimes decal
• Grimes wheels
• Grimes player banner
• Fireworks (multichrome) universal decal
• Uncanny boost

The Heatseeker Ricochet mode will also return to the game for a limited time, during the Neon Nights event. Players will also be able to earn Golden Moons to unlock items from the Impact, Nitro, and Overdrive item series.

Neon Nights is Rocket League's first in-game event themed around a musical artist, but it's far from the first time that games have had tie-ins with popstars — Fortnite's in-game Ariana Grande concert last year pulled millions of players in with its towering digital version of the diminutive singer.

The Grimes event will be happening alongside celebrations for the Lunar New Year, which gives players access to a free Year of the Tiger bundle, which includes a Tiny Tiger topper and a Tyger decal.

The event will run from January 26th to February 8th, with "Shinigami Eyes" releasing on January 26th.
