Last week was an exciting time for Xenoblade fans - with the confirmation of Xenoblade Chronicles 3, coming to the Nintendo Switch this September.
If that wasn't already enough, Good Smile Company has now officially revealed its Xenoblade Chronicles 2 painted plastic 1/7 scale Nia figure. It can be pre-ordered from now until 30th March and will be available in "limited" supply.
It's priced at $259.99 USD and is expected to ship in August 2023.
"A figure of Nia in her awakened form! From the Nintendo Switch game "Xenoblade Chronicles 2" comes a scale figure of Nia in her awakened form! Nia's dignified and beautiful appearance has been carefully captured in figure form based on an illustration by character designer Masatsugu Saito! Translucent parts and pearl paintwork have been utilized across the figure, perfectly capturing the distinctive textures of the materials that make up her outfit. Sculptor: Akimofu"
On a related note, Good Smile company also recently revealed it would be releasing a Samus Aran Figma based on her look in Metroid Dread.
Will you be adding this Xenoblade Chronicles 2 figure to your collection? Comment down below.

that looks... interesting
Make a figure of Morag or Morag and Brighid teamed up and we’ll talk.
That thumbnail's kinda a pretty big spoiler... I feel bad for anyone who hasn't finished the game yet and sees it.
This is a huge spoiler
Should have a talking feature, where when you pull the string and it says one of her lines
1. Thats a spoiler as mentioned earlier
2. It looks amazing but not $259 amazing
If you guys have not mentioned it as a spoiler, most of people who
didn't play the game would not realise it is a spoiler.
The game has been out for close to 5 years now, it's a spoiler sure but it's not like the game is brand new.
Martha Vader is Luke Skywalker’s mum?!
@FX29 It also just had a sequel announced less than a week ago that likely got more people interested in the series. If people are avoiding spoiling things like Final Fantasy VII's big twist due to the remake, I think it's fair for people to avoid spoiling something from a game that's not even 5 years old yet
@pdapanda Still a chance that they'd remember it and make the connection if they do eventually play it though. Better to just not post spoilers without warning.
@FX29 There are heaps of 5+ year old games that I've never played but may one day and I'd prefer not to get spoiled on any of them.
@FX29 Irregardless of age, spoilers should always be avoided because there are plenty of reasons that someone might not have had the opportunity to play the game. It's not fair to those who were interested in the game but couldn't get around to playing it yet.
"I don't need it...I don't need it...I definitely don't need it...I don't need it...I don't need it..."
There was a point that I owned pretty much any and all Xenoblade-related swag (including X). Then with Xenoblade 2 they started releasing these ridiculously expensive figures that my wife probably wouldn't want me to display in our living room for some reason. Maaaybe I can get away with the Siren-robot-thing, though $100ish for a dust-collecting statue is still pretty hard to justify.
@ReaperMelia I don’t think it’s a spoiler. Thumbnail doesn’t have enough context. If anything, it just looks like an alternate skin to me.
@FX29 No matter how old a game (or a movie or whatever) is, a spoiler remains a spoiler.
I understand spoilers and stuff, but the game is more than 4 years old by now, most people had the chance to play it.
Because by that logic, we should avoid spoilers for Ocarina of Time too... (in other words avoid the internet, or take the risk)
Not to mention, seeing her alone is not spoilery enough if you don't know anything of the story.
Anyhow the price is not even that bad for her, I have seen more simple figures go for more.
Yet I am not getting her, not a franchise I would buy such figure from to begin with.
It’s not spoiler.
There is a thing called context and anybody that never touched XB2 before in the 4+ years it has been out wouldn’t have connected the dots that this Nia is anything substantial just from a pic of the figure and an “awakened” tagline.
The comment section here ironically does more damage in spoiling people by bringing it to attention that anyone that reads it that it’s “plot important”
@ReaperMelia @Liam_Doolan yeah thanks Liam, I had NO IDEA! I still hadn't finished XB2 and thought I still had some time before XB3 came, but now this reveal has been spoiled.
And I will definately miss the sybaritic XB2 character style in XB3
I never liked this design. The way Nia looks for most of the game is much better.
Y’all complaining about spoilers, go tell GoodSmile to remove it from their socials as well lol
This figurine can make you feel spoiled in more senses than one.
@Tademaru "GoodSmile merch spoils the game!"
Super Smash Bros Ultimate, with 27 million copies sold:
@Modsandsods1 It's not a matter of whether or not they're big fans now, it's a matter of people who might have recently gotten into the series after the announcement of the third game stumbling across this article and seeing a huge spoiler in the thumbnail. There are people who don't get around to playing games until well after the initial release and still wind up loving them. A lot of people in the Xenoblade community still use codenames to avoid spoiling major plot elements from the first game that released almost 12 years ago, it's really not that ridiculous to not want to spoil the game when there are people checking the series out right after the new game was announced.
@Modsandsods1 I never said they'd be buying it... the issue isn't with the figure existing, it's Nintendo Life posting an image of it as the article thumbnail with no warning. And how is this not a spoiler? Nia's Blade form isn't revealed until like 75% of the way through the game, the fact that she keeps it hidden is a huge part of her character and this form represents her learning to not be afraid of who she is. Showing off her Blade form with her core crystal right there in the thumbnail is a pretty big spoiler for anyone browsing the site who happens to be playing through the game right now, and one person in this article has already said the thumbnail spoiled the twist for them.
@ReaperMelia
In truth, it's the sort of thing that would only spoil someone that is currently playing the game.
Someone who hasn't started playing yet is not likely to notice the major important element of the character design.
@Modsandsods1 I don't think you're understanding my point. I never once said that anyone who hasn't played the game will be buying it. I said that people who are scrolling through this website and playing the game will see the article thumbnail and have it spoiled for them. It doesn't matter if they're interested in the figure or not. The ARTICLE is the spoiler I'm referring to.
@RupeeClock We already have one comment here from someone currently playing the game who had it spoiled due to the thumbnail. Depending on when someone gets around to the game, they might still remember the picture and connect the dots as well. That sort of thing has happened for me in the past. It's not like it's hard to choose just a stock image of the game for the thumbnail and say "spoiler warning" in the header or something.
@Modsandsods1 it is a spoiler. im a big Xenoblade fan, just because I haven't completed a mammoth 100+ hour game doesn't mean im not a fan. I have started the game but im also busy.
When I saw the figure I didn't even recognise it as being Nia. I thought 'really? that's such a poor likeness' then googled Nia, as I only know her in the game to be younger. Then I got so many spoilers while looking at google ha
@Modsandsods1 Have you never played a game at least a few years after it came out? Not everyone has the time or money to get and play every game that interests them right at launch. I don't think it's hard to just not openly spoil a game that's still fairly recent. Four years is far from "ancient."
And it still ruined a surprise for one person when it wasn't necessary to do so in the first place. Again, it's not hard to just handle this in a way that doesn't put a huge spoiler in the thumbnail.
It's not a spoiler. The game is over 4 years old. Honestly, the things about which people cry on the internet. 🤦♂
@piecez looks to me that you went on Google searching for spoilers, then complained about spoilers.
What about looking at the figurine and keep playing and discover what happened to Nia organically? If I post a picture of Mythra am I spoiling the game? I don't think so.
@Arawn93 Hell, even someone who has put 10ish hours I to the game wouldn't know this is a spoiler
Just becuase the game is old does not mean stuff that is important to the plot is not a spoiler. Goes for pretty much any game regardless of age, it is inherently a spoiler to know of plot relevant details before starting/getting very far into a game. Same goes for movies too.
Only "exceptions" are when said game is part of general cultural importance, like how Sheik is actually Zelda in ocarina of time. Everyone knows about that just because of how popular the title was at the time and still is to this day, hence its pretty much impossible to be mad at that, even more so given the game is over 20 years old. Same goes for final fantasy 7, to some extent, except people still try to keep that unspoiled because of not only the remake but also because fans of long RPG game series tend to want people to go in as blind as possible.
With xenoblade 2, its a 4 year old game that has not punctured the genral gaming sphere anywhere near as much as final fantasy 7 or ocarina of time. Like, NOWHERE near as culturally relevant. So it is absolutely fair to say this nia thumbnail is a spoiler, just because the game has been out does not mean people should already know everything about the game. Like others have said, xenoblade 3 is coming this year, some will want to catch up on 1 and/or 2 before then, and seeing an image of this form of nia or another similar spoilery character from xc1 WILL inherently spoil the game for them.
Massive Xeno fan here and... this isn't a spoiler. Without the context, it just is as someone said can look like an alternate skin or a special design for a collaboration (a very common practice that happens all the time). And you won't get the context unless you open the article, read the article and google the context yourself... at that point, that's on you, not Nintendolife. I can show someone who has never played Xenogears a picture of Id and they'd have no clue that I just showed them a spoiler without the context of who he is and what his importance is. As for this article, it does not give much away and is rather tame.
Anyone who is in the camp of no spoilers at all please! Will probably avoid any articles about Xenoblade 2 anyways. And I think Mythria is a much larger spoiler that is just out in the wild thanks to Smash Bros. I mean... the fact Pyra has an alternate form at all was a massive surprise for me when I first played Xenoblade 2 and now it is just a known fact by millions of people who never touched a Xeno game... so yeah. That and if you're on a gaming website like this that reports on the merchandise you're already playing a game of Russian Roulette with spoilers about all kinds of Nintendo IPs. I mean there was an article posted years ago about the Black Knight's true identity thanks to Fire Emblem Heroes and that was a massive spoiler for two fantastic Fire Emblem entries. Please don't look it up, I was just using that as an example. You can't control what a news site posts that has been officially shown off by Nintendo and partners.
As for the statue itself? It looks very nice! I can't afford it right now, but I'm glad minor characters are getting some love in merchandise.
Oh no! A spoiler of a 4 year old game!!! The humanity 😱
I love Nia and her Design... but I don't know if I want this in my house for anybody to see.
@ReaperMelia unless you tell the spoilerphobe that it's actually Nia's true form, they will think it's an alternate skin or a dlc blade.
@Wexter I get seeing an image of X character and not knowing any context, thats plenty fair. And it really is on the person if they go looking for more info, but it really comes down to how the genral thing is percieved.
Like with your example with Mythra, you consider her more spoilery than awakened Nia. But mythra was featured in some of the marketing material before the game even came out, and blade form nia wasn't. So in that regard mythra was never really much of a spoiler unless you decided to or happened to not see the trailers prerelease. Similar thing happened with metroid dread too, I remember people were upset that one trailer featured kraid and considered it a massive spoiler.
Really it depends on so many factors, but in the case of nia it likely is gonna be the fault of the curious person if they look further into it, though sometimes you have instances of smash ultimate spoiling Seven in xenoblade 1. I think its more prominent to be upset with spoilers for RPGs cus they are so story heavy and rely on the user knowing nothing going in, at least with my dread example it isn't really plot relevant. Kraid is just there to fight at some point. Spoiler talk just differs heavily on a case by case basis.
I actually just managed to beat mass effect 1 and 2 without ever havinh been spoiled. And I’ve been active on gaming forums since before they released. I agree with the people saying it’s a spoiler, more and more apps and websites support spoiler tagging so it’s becoming less of an internet issue and more of a decency issue. If you can avoid spoilers just avoid them or spoiler tag them and don’t be a jerk saying “well game is old so it’s your own fault for now playing it”, not everyone is your age, not everyone has been a fan of the genre, not everyone knew they liled a series, not everyone had the time or priority to play it and not everyone knows wether they will ever end up playing a game.
@negw I already said I googled because I thought they got the likeness wrong, if you don’t believe me that’s your problem.
It’s only my fault for looking because I didn’t anticipate Mia would take on another form. That is what makes this figure a spoiler
As other people have mentioned, hoo boy that's a spoiler. Ah well, I guess out of context it's fine. Now the problem is convincing myself that I don't need that.
Looks cool, but I still need to hunt down Pyra & Mythra first.
@Matl The thing is while she appeared in promos it was not really being pushed in my face that she was Pyra's alternate form or "true form" it was just a "hey who is that blonde character? Is she important? Does she tie into the first game?" So it was a natural surprise for me that just does not exist anymore. I consider that more a spoiler than a random figure that exists in the wild and you only understand that it is a spoiler when you've played the game. Which is kinda my point as you can't even play dumb anymore who Mythria really is unless you somehow avoided the Smash hype train. I used Id as an example because he was used all over Xenogears marketing and even in the manual, but you don't know his importance till you've played the game.
I've gotten more chilled about spoilers over the years because it is the internet. I was spoiled about the Last Jedi in a video about an NHL outdoor game when the film was still in theatres. I think that is when I learned my lesson that anything and everything will be spoiled for me and I just accept if it happens. Sad, but kinda true.
You're telling me an anime character has another form that looks a little different? This is unheard of!!!
Shame on GoodSmileCompany for producing this plastic spoiler and posting spoilery pictures of it all over the internet. This is even worse than their figma Lucina from Fire Emblem: Awakening. The existence of Lucina is also a spoiler.
@Wexter I'm pretty sure one of the story trailers just flat out used the mythra's awakening scene, so its likely that mythra being pyra's true form was out in the open for a long while. I would argue its not really close to the nia being a blade reveal is, just due to it being much later on in the game. Mythra's awakening is like chapter 3 of 10 if i recall, whilst nia's reveal was chapter... 8? I think?
This just goes back to how stuff is presented to people through the marketing and how story centric a game is. Someone will be made that they saw even one second of gameplay for a game before it came out, hell i know someone who doesn't want to see a single thing of botw2 til the game comes out to retain the true experience. Its down to personal preference mostly, but there are things that can be seen much more clearly as "oh yeah thats a spoiler" than stuff shown off in a trailer or from the first third of a game.
Also, sorry that you've just come to accept spoilers as a natural happening of media. Must suck a lot.
@piecez I don’t have to believe or not, I just stated a fact. Once we determine that spoiler = any graphical change of any character in a game each of us can have an idea if this is a spoiler or not. In my case definitely no. In your case I’d say stay away from internet
Unfortunately the novelty of Nia's blade form and Seven's identity which really should be spoilers, are just too widespread in gaming and internet culture, so it's hard not to be blind by those things.
As for the figure, hot damn! I can't justify spending that price but that is a beautiful statuette. I'll just wait for my Pyra/Mythra Amiibo instead, thanks.
@Wexter I agree with you that without context, even just an image of this won't be a spoiler for too many people, even if they are playing the game right now as it most likely will seem like an alternate skin thing. Once you start going into detail and mentioning that it's a spoiler, people can piece things together. However the description of the figure does actually say what this is, that's a part I can't forgive.
To me, this feels as much of a spoiler as me saying Pneuma. Nobody who is playing the game right now can know what that means. Even people saying "Pneuma is a spoiler for the game" means nothing because what the hell are you supposed to associate that with?
@UsurperKing I agree the description of the statue is rather bad. Granted "Nia's Awakened Form" still reads to me the same as the umpteenth Saber skin in FateGo (if you've never heard of FateGo I'm sorry... but Google FateGO Saber and you'll have a fun laugh attack going "are they all the same Saber?"). I find the biggest spoilers are people who cry spoilers when you mention an episode number. I just wish people would chill a bit as sometimes mentioning something is a spoiler... is a spoiler itself.
@Wexter Followed your advice and holy cow you weren't kidding, how are those all the same character?! With practices like that it's not a surprise when things like this are just seen as an alt form or something
I agree with your gripe at the end. What people who watch a show/anime or play a game often forget is that they have all the context that a newer person simply doesn't have. Thus, being a boy who cries spoiler you're more likely to spoil something than if you just kept shut. Not every spoiler is as obvious as "this character dies."
There's also a different way people can spoil things that I've come across. I have friends that are super sensitive to spoilers and don't want to hear anything. Then I start watching a show they saw and they say stuff like, "oh you're gonna cry your eyes out in Episode 11," or "oh you like that character now? You won't like them later," or "did you notice this character said this thing?" which only resolves during the last episode. Like, you're not being coy or clever like you think, you're ruining the experience for me because I don't yet have the knowledge you do and now I'm speculating about things I shouldn't be thinking about yet!
Sorry, that was a bit of a personal rant about spoilers.
I want it, but my wallet is telling me not to. It makes all the final calls
I really want this... But how could I ever explain it my real waifu?
Flabbergasts me as to why someone would buy this but you have to appreciate the meticulous art and work that's gone into this. Not something I'd like or want, but still....
That's cool, albeit expensive though. I just want me Pyra/Mythra amiibo next to me Shulk amiibo already.
