Re: Review: Tunic - Old-School Adventuring With Nods To Zelda, Unforgiving And Ingenious

DashKappei

I wish Digital Foundry or some other reliable tech outlet would review the game’s performance on Switch because impressions still don’t paint an exact picture and I know firsthand how unreliable the internet is concerning anything that’s more in-depth than “graphics suxx/great and runs good/bad” which can mean everything and nothing.

I’d rather play this on Switch (portable mode only) than tied to the TV on my Series S, but not if it’s super blurred out and especially not if framerate is disappointing (I can do with some hiccups here and there, not with inconsistent framerate in the 20s).

Re: Nvidia Employee Comment Confirms Chip Rumoured To Be Used In 'Switch Pro' Is Real

DashKappei

@sixrings NSW is probably my fav console in 40 years gaming but let’s not kid ourselves. The opposite is also true, more power allows more creativity, however, that’s not the issue. Many current and (let alone upcoming) INDIE games struggles to have decent performance (framerate, which DOES impact gameplay) right now, let alone in 2 years. 5 years? That is just a bad joke.

Re: Octopath Traveler Has Now Sold Over 3 Million Units Physically And Digitally

DashKappei

@Ralizah Imo SE didn’t want a GP version on day 1 jeopardize the sales of the other versions and why make it themselves when they can get it on GP a year later with a nice check and Microsoft paying for porting duties, while Microsoft obviously didn’t care enough to pay a bigger check bring it to GP on Day 1. Also obviously, SE didn’t think it’d be profitable enough to develop OP2 as a retail/digital Xbox title. Will see, it’s all speculation, but I don’t see this game staying Xbox-elusive forever.

Re: Nintendo Direct Showcase Confirmed For Tomorrow

DashKappei

@ThePizzaCheese he said the days, not something vague. He said they were thinking about delaying for the queen and sure enough that conversation was real and Nintendo UK is only having a VOD instead of streaming the Direct. Only trolls and people who don’t have any idea how insider info works can hate on Grubb like he’s a lucky guesser. I worked in the industry 20 years, things change at any given moment, just because a game he said might be in the direct isn’t shown doesn’t mean he’a lying or unreliable. Heck, Square Enix, Microsoft, Bungie, have pulled announcements and trailer at the last second at many past E3. Leaks should just be taken as “it might happen”, if you get angry at leakers who’ve been right many many times then simply don’t pay attention to them, it’s that easy. If you enjoy the discourse then by all means understand that things can change. If you can’t see the difference between someone like Grubb and the latest fake insider trying to ride someone else’s source or lying, it’s your fault.

Re: Random: Ever Wanted To Know What It's Like To Peel A Pokémon And Eat It?

DashKappei

I had no idea so many people on this site didn’t know how to not read an article they don’t like or a video they don’t want to watch.

Happy to help! Follow these simple steps:
•Open NintendoLife
•Seek an article you don’t care for
•Now, do NOT click on it.

It seems difficult at first, but with a bit of practice you’ll be skipping on articles left and right in no time! 💪🏻

Re: AeternoBlade II Dev Accuses Publisher PQube Of Withholding Payments

DashKappei

Lol yeah right for 2 years the devs didn’t want to get their game back because… reasons. A whole bowl of nothing from PQube’s statement, as expected. Did you pay them, where are the answers to the devs’ accusations? Reverted the rights long time ago they say, and yet the game was up as of last week on every platform with PQube as the publisher. Put up and shut up.

Re: Video: YouTuber's Switch OLED Screen Still Standing After 7,000 Hours

DashKappei

@iLikeUrAttitude Not much. Switch at full draw (most intensive games, docked for the Tegra at full clock) consumes LESS than a SeriesX on standby. It is truly a marvel what the custom clocked Tegra/Switch are able to pull graphically with such a negligible power draw/consumption, and most definitely a cutting-edge technical feature that sadly doesn’t get the praise it deserves.

Re: Mini Review: Severed Steel - A Heart-Pounding FPS That Makes You Feel Like John Wick

DashKappei

No gyro no sale. Also long loading times are enough to ruin a game for me. Hopefully a patch comes soon

@BlackMayge why would it be a con for you if it supported gyro? Or even a pro that it doesn’t include them? Gyro aim/controls is an option, never mandatory. Just don’t use it? Pretty sad way to think, imo.

Also, more options= accessibility you know, which I stan for even when it doesn’t directly affect me.

Re: Exhilarating Shmup Duo 'Bullet Soul' And 'Bullet Soul: Infinite Burst' Land On Switch This Fall

DashKappei

@Royalblues One? There are a gazillion great ones on Switch:
Layer Section & Galactic Attack S-Tribute (it has a demo) R-Type Dimensions (iirc has a demo?) R-Type Final 2 (demo), Arcade Archives Gradius III, Arcade Archives Thunder Dragon 2, ACA Neo-Geo Aero Fighters 2 (not exactly spaceships tho, but souped up airplanes lol) Andro Dunos 2, Thunderforce IV, Thunderforce AC, Super Hydorah, Zero Gunner 2-, Arcade Archives Raiden… and many more.

Re: Review: PAC-MAN MUSEUM+ - A Gaming Legend's Best Collection Yet

DashKappei

@farrgazer awful lag on Xbox. No lag at all on NSW portable, while docked sometimes can have an hiccup with frameskipping on Pac-Man arrangement (same on PS). Actually, lag-wise this is a really great collection on Switch. Everything runs snappy as it should, including Pac-Man CE, Pac-Land and both Arrangement.

Re: Review: PAC-MAN MUSEUM+ - A Gaming Legend's Best Collection Yet

DashKappei

No TATE mode, awful implementation of online leaderboards, and the worst CRT “filter” I have ever seen. I don’t care about the overworld running at 20fps on Switch but the two issues I’ve mentioned (plus awful implementation of score uploading/online leaderboards) are a big bummer. Still it was cheap on the polish eShop and I love my pac-man, so I grabbed it.

Re: Art Of Rally Speeds Onto Switch With A Physical Release, Pre-Orders Now Live

DashKappei

Is the port as bad as it was when it launched? Did they add analog throttle/break to the right stick?

I love the game, but the port’s quality was super disappointing. I played it briefly and man was I glad I didn’t put down the money to get it. I do have the Xbox and PC versions but I only really play portables so it was a huge bummer when AoR released in its state.

Re: Dying Light Switch Patch Includes "A Number Of Tweaks, Updates, And New Features"

DashKappei

@MPWolfie you can get it physical, with full EFIGS+ support, one and done. You don’t need a region-specific account to get patches. But just because I’m curious , what would be the problem about having a US specific account? And when you delete a game, you can archive it (the icon stays) and then you’re just a click away from redownloading, whatever account you’re currently using. I’ve done since 2017, changed 3 Switches, no issues whatsoever.

Re: Dying Light Switch Patch Includes "A Number Of Tweaks, Updates, And New Features"

DashKappei

Amazing game. Brilliant port. Fantastic support. Honestly, if you didn’t play it already on a different platform, and value portability , this is absolutely a must-have for every Switch’s library. As far AAA 3rd party ports go, I find this the best as a game/port combo (I personally hate Alien Isolation’s severe deadzone and input lag, I know others don’t mind, too bad)

Re: Review: Pocky & Rocky Reshrined - A Thrilling New Interpretation Of A SNES Classic

DashKappei

Btw, this review was a pleasure to read, one of the best I’ve ever seen on NL. Competent in discerning the technicalities (btw thanks for confirming the scanlines filter’s 4 degrees of intensity) and in discussing the art, gameplay mechanics, the intent of Tengo Project, what made the original magical and how this one compares, touched on difficulty and longevity, it had it all. It touched on everything I wanted to know, as a man in his forties who’s enamored with the series and with Tengo’s “remakesters”. You didn’t mention the framerate, and maybe you could’ve given it a few words, but I’m pretty sure it means that it’s locked 60 most of the times. Great job @Tom-Massey

Re: Review: Pocky & Rocky Reshrined - A Thrilling New Interpretation Of A SNES Classic

DashKappei

Tengo Project is the absolute KING of 2D remaster/remakes, they nailed it outta the park with every release so far.
Ninja Saviors doesn’t get enough clout, imo it’s easily on par with SOR4, it’s a great, replayable, amazin-looking, way deeper than it seems, beat ‘em up!

Wild Guns Reloaded is absolutely stunning (minus the mandatory sharing of lives’ pool in mp! That sucks!).

This is going be a very looooong and hard wait -_- but I just can’t justify 45€ (either digital or physical, that’s what is going to cost me when all is said and done… I wish I had a japanese credit card to grab it straight from the eShop). Especially because I can get the western version for a good 17€ less than that.

Re: Shin Megami Tensei V Tops 1 Million Sales Worldwide

DashKappei

@Gamer_Zeus lmao it’s pretty obvious you should inform yourself better on how game dev works and costs. If you think SMTV is a true AAA production with high-end budgeting I don’t know what to tell you. I’ve worked in the industry for close to 20 years, nodoby here knows the budget for SMTV but if you truly think it costed over 40M I don’t know what to tell you. There is no way it costed anything close to 80M, zero chance. 1M in 6 months on a single platform for this release is, without a doubt, a smashing success. The fact that the game might get ported to other platforms (for sure it’s coming to PC) later doesn’t mean anything, the same would have happened if it sold 5M. Doesn’t seem you have much of a grasp on the industry, sales and development/publishing.
