I preordered Bayonetta 3 and Metroid 4 on August 27, 2018 along with Fire Emblem Three Houses. Finally I will get that sweet sweet 20% discount that Amazon stopped offering shortly after I preordered!
Double Dash!!! I miss the strategy of picking characters for items and weights and playing multiplayer on the same kart.
8 deluxe is also very great with introduction of accessibility options that allow my little kids to get into the action. Mario Kart 7 was also very under rated. The GBA Mario Kart was very hard to play on my breaks at work on the OG GBA but had a ton of content for the time. Mario Kart 64 has always been my least favorite and the only one that I never owned.
@SteamEngenius I feel you. I am trying to speed my way through my second play through of game (this time on the Switch) and hitting a wall of being under leveled for the area and can not progress any further. This game really wants you to do the boring and annoying side guests. It would be a great qoL for this next game to make side-quests more optional since there are players who don't have time to spend hours getting 30 wolf pelts or x rng item or bring y to Bob across the continent. Or make the side quests actually interesting - take a page from the Witcher 3.
I bought both at launch and have been firmly in the Nintendo and PC/Steam camps.
Since getting the steam deck I have not touched the Switch. I love the ability to play my vast and mostly un-played steam library on the couch or in bed. The same benefits I love about the Switch. The trouble is figuring out what plays well on the Deck since you can play pretty much anything. Obviously RTS's are difficult and most games are not optimized. But you can change settings and troubleshoot. When a game doesn't perform well on the Switch there isn't much you can do about it besides waiting for a patch.
So any new games that come out I will get for the PC/Steam Deck unless its a Nintendo Exclusive like Xenoblade Chronicles 3, BOTW 2, Metroid 4, and Bayonetta 3.
The real problem is Contracting companies are the worst - they charge the company double (or more) the amount the employee actually takes home, offers minimal benefits and has very little incentives to transition employees to the company they are contracting for. Corporations love them for high turnover positions because it is so hard to terminate employees once they are hired that its worth paying the contracting rates. There is also a whole cottage industry of hiring managers getting kickbacks from contracting agencies.
I think there is a key bit of information that is being missed: This is a condition that is, sadly common, in the contracting world for many industries. I and many friends worked as contractors in IT for Healthcare, retail, service and other industries and faced the same challenges.
This is a problem and I counted my blessings when I finally got hired as a full time employee for the company I was contracting for but I know people who were contractors for many years or never got hired by the company they were working for. That being said it is not just Nintendo's problem, its also the contracting companies and the industries as well.
I think it doesn't deserve all the hate it gets but they had a lot of problems baked into this game. I loved the 2.5d elements and the counters after I got the hang of them. The 3d sections didn't land and all the story and game elements surrounding Adam did a disservice to the game and Samus as a character. I am glade the recent 2d games save some of the better parts of the DNA from this game.
Its worth a play if you get a chance, there is some really cool moments and fighting normal monsters/getting around all feels good.
My biggest regret is going all in on both the 3DS and Wii U launches. For the 3DS I went to Toys R Us for the launch because that had a buy 1 get 1 free deal for the launch games so I got Street Fighter IV, Ghost Recon ( there was not good games So I spent a long time trying to pick the least worst games). I did not play either of those games for more then a 1 hour or two. I did show them off and talked up the system to everyone I could. I was desperately trying to justify the system to myself you see. It took a long time to get some really interesting games and by that time they brought the cost of the system down and all the early adaptors felt burned. The Ambassador program was fine but I don't make a habit of replaying old games so it didn't do a whole lot for me.
Obviously not learning my lesson I went all in for the Wii U, getting the deluxe with Zombie U, Nintendo Land and New Mario U. The most I have spent on a launch bundle. I was excited to use all the tablet for all these unique ways like controlling your TV and cable channels. When I got it and played Zombie U I almost believed too. Then we got nothing and I ended up using it primarily to watch Netflix and Wii games.
I spent a long time debating if I should get the Switch considering everything. I actually only reordered the Breath of the Wild collectors edition to have the extras and sell the game if the system flopped.
I of course had a change of heart and went down to the local store on launch day and somehow managed to get a system. Work loved that lol. I proceeded to play Breath of the wild for the next 8 months exclusively. Granted I just had kids and could only play 15 minutes here and there.
Hmmm... IDK I am less excited then I was. Not by this key art or anything, its just the fact that the previous game struggled with the switches aged hardware back in 2017. So realistically XBC 3 will struggle just as much if not more so. Graphics isn't everything obviously but at times when the dynamic resolution goes down to like 360p in handheld I start wishing for that mythical Switch Pro/ Super Switch.
I love Metroid and I love free stuff. That being said I will not use this mode because I had a hard enough time beating the bosses the first time. Now if there was a expansion or epilogue of some sort....
The only game subscription I pay for is Nintendo's and that's because its cheap and it also gives game save backup which has been great the few times I needed it along with the retro games that I almost never play.
As a PC gamer as well as a Nintendo fan I have tried the Game pass subscription when they were giving 3 months free. It does have a good selection of games however to get any real use out of it you will want the ultimate pass which allows you to stream games from anywhere. That is 15$ a month, which is great if you are going to use the service a lot however for a gamer like me with little free time I prefer the traditional buying games on sale and sitting on them for x amount of time and eventually playing them. I got Shadow of Mordor through a humble bundle years ago and I finally just installed it on the Steam Deck.
I am curious when they will drop Bayonetta 3 with Xenoblade Chronicles 3 coming out in September and Pokemon coming out in November. If it was the summer/spring you would think it would have announced so that has be thinking Dec or Oct. Personally I am thinking Dec seems likely.
Nice, haven't played many Kirby games. The first being on the game boy advance and then on 3ds. Neither have been completed or even close. The 3ds one has perhaps 1 hour of play time. IDK why, I like the character and is in my rotation in Smash but the games have a certain amount of aimlessness to me I guess? That being said I did like the demo so perhaps I will give it a shot sometime
I have this game but never finished it. I liked the story, 3d graphics was great at the time and the multiplayer was even fun. That control scheme though. I was never a big fan of games that required using screen for complex controls and thought it worked best as mini maps, info, bags, radar or just a extension of the main screen. At least this helped give birth to all those commentary skits in smash bros.
@BloodyMurder lol I do wonder how they set expectations for their sale numbers for games. Since these are perhaps considered lower effort niche games they get some kind of pass? Like Guardians of the Galaxy is the over achieving big brother that still can not get the time of day from Mom and Dad and Triangle Strategy is the lazy little brother that gets a cake for rolling out of bed in the morning.
My first introduction to F-Zero was that odd blue guy with the Ascot who yells his name a lot in Smash Bros. Melee.
Then I saw him on the cover of his very own game right when I was wondering what game to get next.
Having come from racing games like Mario Kart and Extreme G I thought I could handle F-Zero GX but man it was TOUGH and there was no weapons to help cover for sloppy driving. Luckily I was at a time in my life where I had the time to dedicate to a single game to push past the steep learning curve and "get good". I also appreciated that Sega hid all the arcade levels in the game too so its really like 2 games in 1.
Instead of going backwards I would love for Nintendo to give the wheel to a 3rd party like Shin'en or Sega again.
The Real Time aspect has me very curious and skeptical. Real time strategies can be tricky to pull off on consoles. With the pause option I wonder if it plays like the crpgs like Baldur's Gate. Honestly I prefer crpgs that got the option to do full turn based like Pillars of Eternity 2.
I did all the quests, shrines, and upgrades for Link's equipment. Then did all the content for the DLC. I also did a fair amount of wondering in the world just because. I didn't get all the seeds however just got enough seeds to get all important rewards. Then decided to finish the game. Using a paper map with all the general locations of the shrines and some guides online to help find some of the trickier upgrade material I finished all of the above with 120+ hours on the clock.
At least one thing for the Deck is that the joysticks are designed to be relatively easy to replace with regular tools. I am still waiting for my email from Steam, hoping it comes to my inbox on March 7th! Still super pumped for it, however the delays on delays are getting annoying but in today's world it can't be helped.
Like many, I am skeptical that they will successfully pull off a truly open world Pokemon game that: looks good, runs good, and plays good. Also the fact that they are saturating the market with so many Pokemon games so quickly. They just released Arceus last month and releasing new content for Pokemon Go. My guess here is that its going to look and run just like Arceus with some a few upgrades like less separate load zones. Really they are running squarely into Switches hardware limits and should have maybe held this back for Switch 2 or whatever because that is when you will really see that concept be executed well. That or make 2d open world, each would be great too.
Having played two demos of this game, I am still on the fence on it. I like turn based strategy games, having beaten most of the FE series but this seems to be more finicky with gobs more text and story to wade through. Its been rough to get through FE 3 houses because of all the school activity stuff. I am really itching for faster story/combat I guess. Which reminds me... Advance Wars 1 + 2 is coming sometime.
I would love to see a LoZ and Metroid animes. I think animation is the best medium for both those franchises. They both have managas to draw from as well. Its funny to see Red Dead Redemption on list because it is a love letter to all the old western movies. Full circle.
Have they ever did a demo for this series? I would like to try it but jrpgs are kind of a dime a dozen these days and I don't have the best track record with finishing/enjoying them.
@GregamanX That are just expanding their fan-service to include boobs. You see the traditional focus of the fanservice (The thicc thighs) are still present and accounted for.
I can appreciate the occasional fanservice moment however I don't think I could have own something like this even before I was married w/ kids.
@HeadPirate Agreed, it was announced way too soon and they shouldn't use early access as a crutch.
Though that is nothing compared to their kickstart campaign for their Divinity Original Sin Board Game. That was supposed to be released December 2020 however they are nowhere near completing it. Just recently they decided to completely change many of the game elements after 6 months of radio silence.
I am super worried for Larian and their ability to get these products to market.
Wii U: Total Play Time: 4148 hrs. Games played: 64 Most Played Software: Netflix: 1613 hr Top 3 Software: Netflix, Hulu and Crunchyroll Favourite Genres: Other, Video, and Multiplayer
3DS: Total Play Time: 1319 hrs. Games played: 156 Most Played Software: Fire Emblem Fates: 158 hr Top 3 Software: Fire Emblem, Street Pass and Bravely Default Favourite Genres: RPG, Action, and Adventure
As above indicates I used the Wii U as mainly for streaming but I did play a lot of games but much shorter bursts Whereas 3ds was all games and collecting street passes. I do miss the street passes it was such a interesting feature that encouraged you to move and be by other 3ds owners.
So Glad I got the special edition, I am feeling a little guilty that I never finished the 3rd campaign. Like other's said, I wonder what the equation is for Nintendo. I know it costs money to run and host these eshops and as time goes on the purchases decrease substantially and I suppose they are at a point where its costing more money then they get in sales. Maybe they could donate the games they are not intending to sell again to the abandonedware or something. Cold business sense tells me they will not since that would rob them of the opportunity to make money if they choose to re-release it in the future.
Not enough content yet to bite. I am not paying for something to be eventually a good deal. I too, as others mentioned like owning versus renting because you know NSO will not be around forever and/or might want stop paying for it some day.
Playing the new demo for Triangle Strategy I think I might actually get it.
I feel like having Metroid Dread up there is a little misleading since its only getting some difficulty options and a boss rush mode. I would really love to see some DLC for new content. Excited for Advance Wars though and never tried Front Mission so that might be worth checking out. 48 tracks for Mario Kart 8 isn't anything to sneeze at either.
Looks like they took most of the game elements from XC2 and put them into a world very similar to XC1. I guess that would make sense if they are trying to tie them together.
I hope its not just a rehash of those games scrambled together though. I for one would love to see a lot of QoL enhancements, less time in menus and more meaningful side quests.
Interesting if true, I wonder if Nintendo and Microsoft negotiated a deal to release their respective versions? Nintendo can have the original port to add to the NSO and Microsoft can release the 2010 version? I would love to play both myself.
I turned the dub to the Japanese track in the original Wii version because I just couldn't anymore. Then I got tired of the Japanese cast as well. I just turned the games volume down. Xenoblade X had some seriously bad music choices but the voice acting was meh enough not to be distracting. There also seemed like there was much less voice acting in X but I didn't make it too far because how vague, convoluted and grindy that game is. Xenoblade 2 dub really grates on me for certain characters but not as much as the first one. Would I like a more variety of accents? Yes. Will it be a factor in whether or not I buy the game? No.
I had mixed feelings about this direct. No Zelda, Bayonetta or Metroid 4. We did get some DLC for Metroid Dread but its just difficulty options and a boss rush. Mario Kart news but its DLC. Fire Emblem news but its Warriors game. More info on games we know about. More sports games. Ports Ports Ports.
Xenoblade Chronicles was the only true surprise. Even with that I have had a real hard time finishing all of those games because how convoluted and grindy they can be. I will probably end up getting it though. Even if it isn't Mario Kart 9, getting 48 tracks is great, though I hope they are interesting not just a lot of simple snes/gba/ mario tour tracks.
I am excited for Advance Wars and see they delayed the game to add voice acting, online/local multiplayer, undo button and map editor. All welcome additions!
Getting a meaty 3 chapter demo for Triangle Strategy is also very welcome for those on the fence like myself. I had a hard time liking Octopath traveler but loved Bravely Default 2. Love FE but hard time with FF tactics.

Whereas 3ds was all games and collecting street passes. I do miss the street passes it was such a interesting feature that encouraged you to move and be by other 3ds owners.
Re: Fire Emblem Fates: Revelation And DLCs Will Also Disappear From The 3DS eShop
Re: Poll: Will Mario Kart 8's Deluxe Booster Course Pass Make You Buy The NSO Expansion Pack?
Not enough content yet to bite. I am not paying for something to be eventually a good deal. I too, as others mentioned like owning versus renting because you know NSO will not be around forever and/or might want stop paying for it some day.
Re: This Official Nintendo Direct Infographic Showcases All Its Reveals
Playing the new demo for Triangle Strategy I think I might actually get it.
I feel like having Metroid Dread up there is a little misleading since its only getting some difficulty options and a boss rush mode. I would really love to see some DLC for new content. Excited for Advance Wars though and never tried Front Mission so that might be worth checking out. 48 tracks for Mario Kart 8 isn't anything to sneeze at either.
Re: Nintendo Introduces The Protagonists Of Xenoblade Chronicles 3
Looks like they took most of the game elements from XC2 and put them into a world very similar to XC1. I guess that would make sense if they are trying to tie them together.
I hope its not just a rehash of those games scrambled together though. I for one would love to see a lot of QoL enhancements, less time in menus and more meaningful side quests.
Re: GoldenEye 007 Remaster Could Be Announced In The "Next Couple Of Weeks"
Interesting if true, I wonder if Nintendo and Microsoft negotiated a deal to release their respective versions? Nintendo can have the original port to add to the NSO and Microsoft can release the 2010 version? I would love to play both myself.
Re: Poll: Do You Have An Issue With Xenoblade Chronicles' Accents?
No.
Re: Round Up: Everything Announced In The February 2022 Nintendo Direct - Every Game Reveal And Trailer
When I saw the beginning of the trailer for Live A Live I really hoping it was a surprise Golden Sun Game.
Re: Round Up: Everything Announced In The February 2022 Nintendo Direct - Every Game Reveal And Trailer
