Re: Subtle Character Design Changes Spotted for North American Version of Azure Striker Gunvolt

Dark-Link73

@Capt_N I know it's not all Americans, that's why I said "a lot". I've worked on retail, grocery, restaurant, office; studied at community college level, private university level, undergrad, postgraduate; and mingled in other social circles. It has been my experience over the years that, again, a lot of Americans are not as receptive to open sexual behaviors and expressions unless they conform, and fit, their societal expectations.

But I've known some of the same people commit the same actions they renounced when they thought they were in complete anonymity.

When it comes to breaking the sexual stereotypes of gender roles, the American people are the quintessential example of hypocrisy. On the one hand, a lot of Americans tend to critic others for being open minded, outspoken, and show comfort in practicing sexual roles pertinent to the opposite gender; but on the other hand, those same people that critic and chastise such behaviors, have some of the craziest sexual behaviors behind doors.

Re: Job Cuts Hit Sega's London Office

Dark-Link73

This truly sucks, but only from the standpoint of people losing their jobs, but also because of the bad image these layoffs might give SEGA since they are occurring not too long after the acquisition of ATLUS.

It seems that perhaps SEGA wasn't in a real position to but ATLUS. The best of luck to them and the people laid off.

Re: Feature: How A Team Of Dedicated Fans Is Fixing Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Dark-Link73

"For the folks that spent years learning the ins-and-outs of Melee, it (Brawl) came as a harsh surprise...."

I'm sorry but those folks need to move on and adapt. Making Brawl be like Melee is not "fixing it". Overall, there's nothing wrong with Brawl. Do the Project M people want to "fix Brawl"? Fix the online lag. Then you can say they're "fixing Brawl".

Re: New Online Multiplayer Modes Revealed for Super Smash Bros. on 3DS and Wii U

Dark-Link73

@Varoennauraa Exactly! Smash is about chaotic fighting with items in an ever changing arena. To all today people that complaint on Brawl about having items making the game OPed for beginners, they should just go and play on a traditional fighting game like Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter.

I think those people just can't handle being beat by a novice player, lol.

Re: 'Mr. Tetris', Henk Rogers, Discusses Game Boy Sales and Nintendo

Dark-Link73

"It was created by Alexey Pajitnov in the Soviet Union in 1984, and in one of the smartest video game business deals ever made Henk Rogers travelled to Russia to secure publication and licensing rights for distribution outside of Russia."

And us westerners wondered during the Cold War why them Commies didn't like us. We were, and still are, nothing but a bunch of "capitalist pigs". LoL.

My two favorite Tetris titles are Tetris for the GB and The New Tetris for the N64.

Re: Nintendo Releases An Awesome Mario Kart Infographic

Dark-Link73

@grayadamson Ahhh Double Dash!! Just like you, it is still my favorite Mario Kart to date. Since I enjoy local multiplayer more than online, having 8 people in my house playing MK is so much fun! (I'm trying to get a third broadband adapter to have 12 people LAN matches

Baby Park!!!

Re: Video: Check Out The Mario Kart 8 Visual Upgrade in This Retro Track Comparison

@JohnRedcorn I don't know if I speak for other "Nintendo fans" (as you call us), but for me, is not that "graphics do not matter"; is just that at the end of the day, doesn't matter how pretty or ugly the graphics are, what brings me back to play a game again and again, is the gameplay experience.

I still have my N64 with a library of over 70 games. Do you know howe painful to the eyes can N64 games be, specially nowadays when all TV's are at least 720 and the N64 image gets stretchded and distorted? My eyes are watering at the end of each N64 session. But I still love playing those games because they are fun and innovative in their time.

Graphics are as important to me as they are to the PS4/X1 fan. But they're not a deal breaker to me (and perhaps most Nintendo fans) as they are to the PS4/X1 fan.

Re: Hideki Konno Emphasizes That Mario Kart 8 Balancing Means It's Not All About Luck

Dark-Link73

@AshFoxX Just like you, I never had a problem with balancing issues online. However, I did feel that the precise timing in which I would get hit by consecutive red and blue shells in a way that would allow CPU opponents to catch up to me, was a bit OPed.

Nevertheless, I still love the series and I can't wait for May 30. I still have hope that NoA might announce a bundle by the last week of April.

Re: Hardware Classics: Sega Saturn

Dark-Link73

I never really appreciated the Saturn. A friend of mine had it and we had lots of hours of fun playing with it. However, I was more immerse on my N64 so I never accepted the Saturn for how great it was. It was the middle of the Sega/Nintendo console war. I had picked sides. I couldn't bring myself to be disloyal to Nintendo.

Re: EA Boss Peter Moore Apologises For Frostbite's "Stupid" Wii U April Fools Prank

Dark-Link73

@arkady77 You are correct. Disney owns Star Wars and all the properties under the Lucas Arts umbrella. However, Disney closed (or is still closing) LucasArts Interactive as a developer and they're outsourcing their games. Disney apparently doesn't trust their own Disney Interactive division because they (Disney) have EA (of all people) exclusive rights to make Star Wars games.

Go figure.

Re: Video: What Could The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword Look Like In HD?

Dark-Link73

@arkady77 @Action51 I want to start by saying I'm a huge Zelda fan, I even dressed as Link form SS flour Halloween twice in a row. That been said, I was rather disappointed by the ending of Skyward Sword and I wasn't too kin of the "Forth Goddess" plot.

To me the forth Goddess plot undermined the significance of the creation of Hyrule by the three (not four) Goddesses and undermined the symbolism and meaning of the Triforce (again, three, not four).

Anyway, going back to topic, I think Majora's Mask, Twilight Princess, and Ocarina of Time would've been better candidates to see how would they look like in HD instead of SS.

Re: Report Suggests That June Could Be Crucial For Iwata's Future At The Head Of Nintendo

Dark-Link73

@JohnRedcorn By the "average consumer" I mean the 25+ y.o. parent who lets they little kids use their smartphone to entertain themselves while away from home. Or those parents who buy their kids a 3DS/2DS for the same purpose but only hey a few games because they're $40 a pop.

Do you really think the "average" 9 to 40 is playing GTA V? The "average" percent of such population (about 66 to 70% from a statistical bell curve point of view) do not care less whether a game is a AAA title or shovelware. They only care about having fun. Why do you think there is so much shovelware on smartphoned and Wii? Why do you think 90 million Wii owners haven't bought a Wii? Because they are your average "9 to 40 y.o. gamer who doesn't care about quality, only quantity.

You and I along with every member at this site, belong to a very small percent of the gaming population. We're avid gamers. Your average 9 to 40 gamer is the casual gamer. They have as much fun playing Mario ad they do playing Farmville, Angry Birds, and Candy Crush Saga. They'll be confused.

Re: Feature: The Biggest Wii U Games of 2014 - Spring Edition

Dark-Link73

I thought this list would have only like three games, lol. I don't think Watch_Dogs should've been dropped out. After all the official word is that the game is still coming. Btw, you forgot q.u.b.e. Which is coming out this year as well.

It was hard to decide which one is my "most anticipated" game of the year, so I just voted that is not on the list.

Re: Report Suggests That June Could Be Crucial For Iwata's Future At The Head Of Nintendo

Dark-Link73

@JohnRedcorn Let me give you a simple lesson on the psychology of marketing. Do you know why most of Walmart's prices end on 6, 4, or any number other than 9? Because when people see $1.96 vs. $1.99, their brain fools them into thinking they're getting a bargain because they see the 6, which is three numbers smaller than the 9.

Avid gamers like you and I will know the difference in quality vs quantity when looking at a $2 mobile Mario game vs a $40 3DS Mario game. But your average consumer (the vast majority), won't.
