Or maybe video game reviewers are so out of touch they cant accept that lots of people like a game they gave a 3/10 too. I miss the days of "Nintendo Official Magazine when video game journalists weren't pretentious uni grads.
Add 4 review points If you're a fan of Nights and Billy Hatcher. I'd give it a 7/10 but I'm 35 and hate most modern games, so balan reminds me of a more enjoyable time in gaming.
@Reaktor in the UK we had the red variant and the blue variant of the boxes(plus allstars & world) all released at different times. But the cartridge art was always the USA art regardless of the box art version.
Peoples memorys often get confused in Europe as we tended to get different box art but 9/10 we got the USA art on the cartridge itself. Smash bros 64 is a great example of people miss remembering the PAL box due to the cart art
Ps5 looks good but both times I've been sucked in by Sony I have been epicly disappointed. First was with the original PS1 I traded my megadrive console and all its games for a PS1 with crash bandicoot and porche challenge. Only to then go to a friends house several months later to play Mario 64 and Diddy kong racing. That PS1 was swiftly sold, and a N64 was bought!
Then the PS2 e3 demos came out and the gamecube was way off. So I got myself a PS2 with SSX and Silent scope, couldnt afford a £39.99 memory card for the first 6 months. SSX was good and Silent scope was a solid port, but that fuel shock controller thumb sticks made it impossible to tilt the right stick left, and the left stick right at the same time without bashing your thumbs together. Nightmare!
Eventually the gamecube came out, and smash melee and SSX tricky so I again ditched the Playstation and got a gamecube. And havent bought a playstation console since.
After the gamecube I got a 360 then Wii u then xbox one (sold it, it was crap), and presently the switch.
Not sure about PS5 or Series X, I'd definitely need some convincing based on previous experiance especially in regards to Sony.
My first N64 game was Silicon valley! After getting the goldeneye N64 bundle for £129.99 for Christmas then that was it for an entire year! Absolutely would love a remake / sequel to Silicon Valley!
@cleveland124 I think I've just got worse at video games aswell as having less free time as the years have gone on, pikmin 2 I completed in less than a week!
@brunojenso I think theres a huge disparity in what people think is a short / long game. I work full time and it took me well over a month to complete this back on the wii u. Its definitely alot longer than pikmin 1 and and 2, if you have played those for comparison. If you dont have a job or have alot of free time then I can see how it could feel short if you're playing it for 6-8 hours a day over several days.
After spending the last 2 years trying to develop a 2d platformer I have nothing but the upmost respect for any "one person team" developer to get something out on the switch and reviewed by a main stream gaming media site.
@Ghostchip yep randomly happened to me out of nowhere. Was just me and one other player left then suddenly millions of lakitus and bloopers etc, I had 120+ coins and got 3 pow blocks in a row and they all just cam back instantly. 100% someone hacking.
@JMR_Alden as in you pull the trigger all the way down to spray standing still and partially pulled to run and spray. This original mechanic will not work natively on the switch. By seeing mario doing both actions in the screen shots shows they have found a work around for the analogue triggers that the switch does not have.
@Wavey84 "i'm sure it's already gotten to a point where most 30-something year olds have sold off their shrines because they're just sick of it all" Midd 30s here, can confirm entire collection was sold 2 years ago..........£23,400 richer and less stressed about storing and preserving fragile cardboard boxed games from the 80s/90s.
@SnackBox people today just baffle me on what they want? It seems like nothing is ever good enough for anyone anymore? Is it the "in thing" to be a critic and to be negative and find fault with everything. I see it with games, movies, comics, music? It's a wonder any of these industry's even exist anymore as all I hear is negativity and headlines and hashtags and petitions because "it's not what the people want".
@SnackBox I paid £80 for mario 64 in 1998. £55 for sunshine in 2003 and £40 for galaxy, all in 4:3 and all in SD. So I dont undertsand how you and others get to the conclusion that mario 64, Sunshine and Galaxy in HD with re done textures and menu graphics and new controls on a modern portable device all for £40 isnt quality for price? That's £13 per game! Thats insanely great value for 3 AAA titles.
@Benhop07 but its 2020 and everyone thinks that they should have exactly what they want immediately. Imagine them being sent back to the 90s...... "look heres a new game, yes it's out in Japan, no you cant have it yet, we need to wait 12 months then release it in the states, then wait another 12 to 18 months and now you can play it in the UK." They would lose there bleep online!
@SnackBox its flaws? Its 3 of the best games ever made that I'd never imagined I'd be playing on a handheld. What more do people want from it? Mario 64 in your pocket that just blows my mind! And I would have happily paid £40 for just Sunshine in HD. So I'm getting 64 and Galaxy as a bonus! Super Hyped for it!
Well I have my pre order and I'm super excited to play these 3 games again. I dont get all the negativity around it? If it's not for you then just dont buy it? I didnt buy the crash or spyro trilogy's as I thought those games sucked back in the 90s, yet others went crazy for them. But I'm not going to bring them down if they got enjoyment out of them.
@KayFiOS for those who were there the war never truly ended........... a moment of silence for Atari, Sega, 3DO, Amiga and all the others that didn't make it to the HD era.
