Re: Mobile Phone RPG Coming To WiiWare

Clayfrd

@x.SuperMario.x
I usually remember people by their avatars, not their names, so it really throws me off when people change them (Corbie). I'd like to think that people recognize my Weegee avatar by now, but I used the SMW sprite for a while on VCR. I'm thinking about changing to Captain Falcon...

Re: Top 20 WiiWare Games in USA (17th Sept)

Clayfrd

I'm hoping MM9 edges Spogs off the list. I'm hoping MM9 is #1, and I can guarantee that I'll help that cause. If fate is on my side, I shall download Mega Man 9 on September 22, 2008, as soon as I possibly can! Mega Man 9 FTW!!!

Re: Review: Plättchen: Twist 'n' Paint (WiiWare)

Clayfrd

After reading the comments, I'm piecing together why everyone hates WiiBoy, but could someone give me an abridged rundown? I'm slightly confused. I've been a member of WWW since its launch (I was a VCR member since near its launch too), so I don't know how I missed the WiiBoy controversy. Please clear this up... somebody!

Re: Review: Plättchen: Twist 'n' Paint (WiiWare)

Clayfrd

@x.SuperMario.x - They probably haven't taken off points, but complaints are definitely there... The Groovin' Blocks review is a fine example...
"Whilst it is understandable that online play was not included on this offering from start-up developers, it is sadly a glaring omission for a game of this nature."
No offense is intended in quoting the reviewer (Corbie, I think), but the complaints, small though they may be, are there.
To make this comment relevant. I shall not get this game!

Re: Review: Plättchen: Twist 'n' Paint (WiiWare)

Clayfrd

@Mario64DStyle - I wasn't saying that he based the whole review on that, I was just saying it is complained about commonly on this site. You are putting words into my mouth (or text...). I agree that I may be exaggerating when I say points are lost over online functionality, but it is true that lack of online play bothers sitegoers of WiiWare World a little too much. Hundreds of amazing games don't have online even if they could use it. Maybe I'm alone when I say that online play is usually the last thing I look at when I judge a game. If any disrespect was taken by anyone, I apologize. I could also point out dozens of other things that are complained about (and I complain too) on WWW and VCR, but the online stuff just really bothers me.

By the way, Super Mario Galaxy was a sarcastic exaggeration of what some WWW goers' comments consist of. I know a game like Galaxy is not fit to have online functionality.

Re: Review: Plättchen: Twist 'n' Paint (WiiWare)

Clayfrd

@Pegasus - I agree that points should not be shaved off every time a game lacks online functionality. As much as I love WWW, the online whining has got to stop. Oh, Super Mario Galaxy... great platforming, great levels, great controls, great graphics... WAIT! It doesn't have online functionality! Hmmm... 5/10. No, it doesn't work that way. I think it's great when a game has online, but it is never necessary (except for deathmatch shooters). Phantom Hourglass would have still been great without online even though I think the online is a creative and fun experience.
That said, this game doesn't look very good. I don't like games that have too much going on at one time. I'll pass on this one.

Re: Potpourrii Coming To US WiiWare Next Monday!

Clayfrd

@tantrumario (16)
You said exactly what was on my mind. Mega Man 9 would make the worst day of tiresome school a good day. I have 1100 points rotting away until Mega Man 9 comes to swallow my points. Eww... rotten points.

Re: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars

Clayfrd

WOOO! I downloaded this the exact minute it came out. I love it! I just started obviously, but the game is good fun so far.

@Objection Blaster - It is 60 blocks. It is very nice size if you have to move games from SD to Wii all the time like I do.

Re: Ristar

Clayfrd

@Will - Look it up on Gamespot or IGN or whatever you like. You have to play every game like 25 times. If you want to cheat, you can just start and exit the games over and over, but it still takes a while. It's worth saving 8 bucks to take a few minutes to unlock it. Good game.

Re: Mario Golf

Clayfrd

I rented this once a few years ago. I liked it a lot. I'd recomend it whenever it comes out.

Re: Mega Man 9

Clayfrd

I just beat Mega Man 1, and I'm moving on to Mega Man 2 on the old Anniversary Collection. I'm trying to avoid saving when I can to keep the play as pure as possible... Here's hoping I can beat all of them before MM9 comes to WiiWare! I don't know why everyone hates the disappearing block puzzles. I found them easy, at least in MM1. I hated those platforms that fly and shoot out of the sides (in Iceman's stage and Dr. Wily's Castle). GAH!!! Without the magnet beam, they're highly irritating. They're more irritating to get past only to realize you lack the magnet beam in Wily's Castle. Grrr...

Re: Bomberman Blasting Onto The Wii

Clayfrd

WiiWare is finally looking forward to a season of good games. Alien Crush, Bomberman, and MegaMan.

First appearance of Bomberman on Wii? Does Bomberman '93 not count?

Re: USA VC Releases: Ys Book I & II and Samurai Shodown II

Clayfrd

Hmm. While I am dissappointed by the lack of SMRPG, I am not in the least surprised. The released games look great. Is it pronounced "Whys" or "Why Ess" or neither? Hmm. I was thinking about getting a points card and then buying SMRPG, FFCC:MLaaK DLC, and sitting on 1000 for MegaMan 9. Alas, my plans have been destroyed. Nintendo's release dates are so random, though, so I don't even care at this point. My emotions have been numbed to reaction to release dates. Sigh...

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog

Clayfrd

I played this when I was younger at my cousin's neighbor's house; I'm almost certain. It's a great game, and I like it better than the Genesis version because I think the levels are better on MS. I really HATE Marble Zone... My top list is:
1. Sonic 2
1.5. Sonic 2 & Knuckles
2. Sonic CD
3. Sonic 3
4. Sonic 1 MS
5. Sonic Advance
Unfortunately, the only games on that list that I've completed are Sonic CD and Advance, but I've yet to collect all the emeralds on either. I haven't played S&K enough to put it on the list, but it is good... I've come painfully close on Sonic 2, S2&K, 3, and 1 MS, Final boss, Final boss, Final Boss, and Last few levels respectively, but I fail epicly every time I get close...

Re: Review: Block Breaker Deluxe

Clayfrd

I'd call this game surprisingly addictive. I'm stuck on one of the most terribly frustrating block breaking game levels ever created, but the game's fun.

Re: Review: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King

Clayfrd

I called my Kingdom "Mushroom" (It didn't work out like I thought it would... they all just call it Mushroom instead of Mushroom Kingdom...). Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knows what happened to Mogtillo. I got the dandelion so he could draw a park, but I can't find him! Does anyone know where he is? By the way, later tonight I'm getting 2000 points and with that I'll buy Super Metroid and either Block Breaker or some other SNES game. Anyway, are there any DLC recommendations that I can get?

Re: Mega Man 9 Opening Cinematic - Retrotastic!

Clayfrd

@Jeph -
As much as I'd love a New SMB 2, I'd prefer a new Sonic. Sonic has failed to release a truly good 3d game, and I'd love to see some new 16-bit Sonics that are of the Sonic 2 caliber. Lately I've been working on beating Sonic 3 and Sonic 1 MS, and those are the kinds of games that are actually worth mentioning. I'd like to see Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Toad return to subcon, though. What would REALLY be good is a New Super Mario *World*!

Re: Review: Dr. Mario Online RX

Clayfrd

100th comment . My internet has become more reliable lately, and while it is not strong enough for the likes of Brawl , it is strong enough for Dr. Mario, and I have been playing online more lately. Yay.

Re: Braid Is Too Big For WiiWare

Clayfrd

My fanboyishness refuses to let me give in and buy a 360. I shall instead continue to ineffectively bitch about a hard drive on websites like this! My voice will never be heard by anyone other than the "geeks and otaku" on this website, but I don't care. Also, how can I fit Ocarina of Time or Paper Mario on my Wii, but not Braid? If I can keep the lion's share of my 45ish VC/Wiiware games on my Wii, why can I not keep this?

Re: Mega Man 9

Clayfrd

Things like Contra 4, Yoshi's Island DS, and this make me very happy. Bringing back classic 2d games is fantastic.

Re: Top 20 WiiWare Games in America (23rd July)

Clayfrd

I really hope Megaman 9 tops the charts. I never really liked Mega Man (because I used to think it was too hard), but I've had the Anniversary Collection on my shelf for a few years. I pulled it out today and tried Mega Man 1, and I was blown away. I love it! I can't wait for MM9! The 8-bit graphics make it that much more awesome. Toki Tori also deserves to be higher... like #3.

Re: USA VC Update: Super Fantasy Zone and Gley Lancer

Clayfrd

@North99 - Are you having a bad day? I know Ninty has slightly departed from core gaming, but chill! The Wii's lifespan is far from over! Those SNES games will be out eventually!

@Anyone that knows... Does anyone know why Pikmin 2 (used or not) seems to cost so much on ebay? It's often above $70! I just bought a used copy for $50, and it seems a little outrageous.

Re: Retro Gamer Magazine Interview VC Reviews

Clayfrd

Actually, this magazine is available in the States (at least at a book store where I live). I'll check it out. I actually have a copy here at my house with Street Fighter II as the feature/cover. I had no idea a subscription was $160!

Re: Review: Toki Tori

Clayfrd

I bought this game a couple of days ago, and I'm glad. The game is enjoyable, and completing levels is rewarding. That said, it is also hard. I, uhh, attempts to swallow pride am on the last level in the sewers, and I am stu... chokes on pride, cannot complete sentence

Good game. Buy it. Very good. I plan on Sporifying Toki Tori. Insanely good...

Re: Mega Man 9 - New Video, Online Leaderboards, NOT Exclusive!

Clayfrd

@Link79/Chipmunk777 - I agree with your call on "kiddies" going for the polished games instead of a game like Mega Man. While I, a kiddie (15), love and appreciate classic games and have collected damn near all of Nintendo's consoles (the Virtual Boy is all I really lack), my friends complain about mode-7 graphics and the fact that you can't see the sweat trickling down Captain Falcon's face in "Brawl" after a Falcon Punch and that said attack causes no photo-realistic blood to spew from its recipient. It is sad that the friends in question will miss out on such a terrific game.
@Cowmansr - I would pay lots of money for a SMB3 remake.

Who thinks Ninty should make a free roaming Captain Falcon game where he actually bounty hunts and actually Falcon Punches IN GAME? He could free roam in his massive home town of Port Town, and the freedom could be GTA style (please don't argue about how GTAIV is not on the Wii). If nothing else, where are the new F-Zero and Pikmin games? E3...

Re: Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa

Clayfrd

I just bought this along with Donkey Kong (I merely got it for collecting purposes, and to finish out my VC Mario collection), Zelda 1, Harvest Moon, and Ninja Turtles (because the Angry Video Game Nerd reviewed it). I hope it is as good as others have been saying.

@Big=Sexy - Ha. Your name brings forth a good chuckle. Anyway, I believe the option for difficulty was left out of the Famicom Disk System version, which must be the version we got. Wikipedia says so, at least.

Re: Will You Be Bursting Bubbles Today With Pop?

Clayfrd

@breaderer- I also stopped playing Pop after about a week. It's not that I didn't like it, I just stopped for some reason. Maybe I'll play it soon.
@pagster- I know! I don't get the multiplayer! There needs to be an option on whether or not you want to play cooperatively or competetively.

Oh, and I wish a happy 4th to my fellow Americans.

Re: Dig Dug

Clayfrd

@koresh1959-
Ha! I hated those too! I can assure you that Dig Dug is much more fun. I have it on Game Boy Advance.
