@LittleMac - Or... perhaps you could clean up your "grammer" (it's spelled "grammar"). I guess since you're a conservative, changing is beyond your capacity (see? Isn't it annoying to be stereotyped based on party alignment?).
@Article I think I might get this game. I really like the 8-bit Sonics a lot.
@shadx- I was kidding, I know that the ESRB has nothing to do with the controversy. I was simply saying that the ESRB is justified in slapping an M - 17+ on the cover.
@Ricardo91 - Actually, it's "It takes a village to raise a child."
@LittleMac - Well... I may as well quote the whole thing... "@clayfrd there you have it folks.... another liberal ! Crying and whining. i suppose you believe in the phrase..."it takes a village" lol what an idiot i have the right to voice my opinion as everyone else just because you find it offensive you delete it, thats how liberals are"
1. I think Liberal is a term of endearment. Oh, is that word to big for you? Look it up. 2. I was neither crying nor whining; I was calling you an idiot, idiot. 3. I didn't delete your comment. Those that run the site did because it was slanderous, rude, and completely uncalled for. Crude language doesn't prove a point, is inappropriate, and is deleted when used in excess. We liberals had nothing to do with games not being released or with your impish and flat out rude comment being removed. Now go admire your poster of The Dub and leave us all alone.
@LittleMac - You're an idiot. Your comment was removed for obvious reasons. You misspelled several words, you used inappropriate terminology, and you bashed liberals for something they are not entirely responsible for. The ESRB (something you misspelled) is an organization that rates games just like the MPAA rates movies. It is not replacing parenting, it is just a guideline for parents to follow since many parents don't know just by a title or box cover whether or not a game is appropriate for their child. Secondly, the ESRB has nothing to do with how fast Nintendo releases games, refer to Bass X0. Oh, and just to let you know, Jack Thompson is one of the most outspoken anti-video game activists, and he is about as right-aligned as you can get. He was disbarred for being annoying.
"just like everyone does when Grad theft auto comes out."
Indeed, Grand Theft Auto ought not to have a rating. How dare the ESRB appropriately gauge which age group should play GTA?!
@MetroidMania - Hey, jerk! "The real fans are the boys and girls that grew up with the NES or SNES." What? I grew up on the N64, and that makes me a poor fan? I actually went to the effort to purchase those consoles myself, and I didn't have my mommy buy them for me (like those that "grew up on them" did). You really ought to rephrase your definition of a real fan. Age, which is something I certainly didn't choose, should have nothing to do with whether or not I'm a real Nintendo fan. How about the folks that grew up on any system, but they still went to the effort to collect and play all of the Nintendo classics and have supported the games that Nintendo have made excellently and aren't just old? I'd be willing to bet (unless you have a VR-32) that I even have more Nintendo machines than even your-hardcore-30-something-Nintendo-fan self. By the way you punctuate and structure your sentences, I'd have to assume you're actually much younger than 30, and therefore not an NES-child, and not a "real fan".
@Viral - I recently came across a game on Xbox Live Arcade (assuming you have one) that I don't think is terribly well known (of course, I could be completely wrong). It's called Smash TV, and it was made by John Tobias (former Midway imployee, responsible for Mortal Kombat along with Ed Boon (spell their names backwards to get Noob Saibot, a character in the series)) and some other guy. It's an arcade game about a game show that takes place in the futuristic 1999 (released in '90 in arcades), in which game shows consist of contestants shooting hordes of enemies for fabulous prizes. It's got dual joystick controls (like Geometry Wars, if you've played that), and there are various enemies, fantastic futuristic prizes like VCRs, great bosses, and the co-op is fantastic. It's really a must have, if you ask me. It's hard, but unlimited continues are allowed. Anyway, you asked for an obscure game (that really might not be that obscure), so there you go.
@Alexsays (66) - As much as shadows has been unnecessarily annoying, I must say that I doubt that's an alternate account of his/hers. The sentences of kentatm are fairly well constructed, and too coherent for the likes of shadows262.
@Boringman54- Indeed. I haven't read it, but that seems pretty ridiculous right there. Was Banjo even on it?
I already have a 360, but I don't really want it anyway. This is good news for those of you that want it though, so I'm not going to complain; I'm just indifferent.
@Corbie- You need another Rare avatar... now. Oh, a witch hat you say? I doubt Rare has come up with any notable witches... especially not any that have appeared in any recent games. I've been doing a lot of manual labor lately (you might call it grunt work), though so maybe my mind is clouded with fatigue. Yep... I had to heave this massive boulder that landed on some poor fool... The victim was still alive, but was in a skeletal form. I hear the victim is currently little more than a skull, brain, and eyes being sustained by a highly advanced robotic suit.
@Thatoneguy - Actually no, shadows said first that he doesn't "play any of those [sports] games..." Only to return and claim that he does indeed play EA Sports games, making him a liar and therefore removing what little credit he may have previously had. Of course, anyone that is willing to represent themselves with any reference to Shadow the Hedgehog has no credibility . Either way, the artist formerly known as x.SuperMario.x Wins! Flawless Victory! Fatality! Calling him an idiot was also completely inappropriate.
@Stuffgamer1 - Thanks. This is the second time I've gotten MS's new system late only to have it replaced two years after I got it. Ah, well. I'll enjoy it while it lasts. It's good to hear that all of my downloads will be compatible with my L.O.G.box 720, whenever it does hit the market. In fact that's very nice.
@lockelocke - Wrong. You can link your My/Club Nintendo account with your downloads.
@Jazzem- I completely agree with everything you said. I love the virtual console not because I can buy a bunch of games I owned years ago, but because I can download imports and dozens of rare games or games that I never had a chance to play. I love so many Virtual Console games that I own, and I just hope Nintendo can give us some more classics this year. Don't get me wrong; I'm not apologizing for them, but I think people need to consider that there are over 250 games on the service! That's dozens of classics, and plenty of rare games that would go for much more on eBay.
Oh, and by the way, you should really try Ikaruga. I got it on Xbox Live Arcade, and it is really fun. It's one of my first shmups (hard one to start on!), but I love playing it despite it's difficulty.
@stuffgamer1- Thanks. I might get Golden Axe one of these days, so I'll check it out on 360. Although hardware reliability could also swing me to Wii on just about any game available for both. What happens when my 360 craps out after MS stops supporting it? No more games for me.
@Kelvin - I think Bahamut was also referring to the Paper Marios, which were made by Nintendo in cooperation with someone else (I forgot the company's name, not Square).
@Mickeymac- I'm afraid you misunderstood me, but I can see how since my wording was bad. By final boss, I mean the boss in the first level of Ikaruga, not the last level. Anyway, I'll definitely take a look at some of those, and thanks for the list.
Wow! I only have 1/5 (SMRPG). I'll have to try some of those other games after I clear some of the games from my holiday collection. Time to get jiggy with it and see if anyone can guess which game I'm clearing off the list first. There's a hint...
@Corbie - I got my 360 and downloaded Ikaruga, and it is difficult! I've enjoyed the first level, though; I've tried to beat it a few times, and I've died at the final boss (I think) every time. I'll keep trying, though. Maybe I can find another shooter that's a little easier on XBLA or maybe that Thunder game on the list (forgot if it's Lords or Gate). Any easy-ish recommendations? I suppose I could always just muscle through Ikaruga like I have through several Mega Mans (which I've found are comparitively as difficult, at least so far... lots of trial and error).
WoG clone or not, this game looks like it is shaping up to be much better than I had predicted.
@shadows262 - Get Super Mario World, Sonic 2 (Genesis), Earthworm Jim, Streets of Rage 2, Super Mario Bros. 3, F-Zero X, F-Zero, Sonic 3, Baseball Stars 2, Ocarina of Time, LoZ: A Link to the Past, LoZ, Kirby's Adventure, Kirby's Dream Course, Bomberman '93 (more fun than BMB if you have friends to play locally, IMO), Gradius, Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 2, SMB: Lost Levels, Donkey Kong Country 1-3, Super Metroid, Contra III, Mega Man 1-3, Bonk 1-3, or Donkey Kong, Jr.. Did I miss anything? Probably, but I'll add more later.
@Captain_Konami - I agree with you almost entirely. I think the Laser Hockey is great, and my favorites are Billiards and Tanks. I rarely play the game, though, but it's an okay buy if you need an extra remote.
Wait... I was taken aback there for a second. I think, though, after much scrutiny that... WiiWare is getting a puzzle game! Who would have thought? Well, I can't tell what's going on, so I'll check the website. Anyway, I'm kind of tired of people blabbering about having another puzzler. World of Goo was a puzzle game, but it was brilliance. It's not the quantity of puzzlers that hurts WiiWare, it's the quality. Don't misinterpret me, I'd love to see some platformers, but genre shouldn't matter, quality should. If I can find out what this game is about, I just might enjoy it.
@slambert215 - True... true. 2009 will be much better than 2008 for Nintendo. Then again (except for Brawl), 2008 was probably, I dare say, the worst year for Nintendo EVER. Hardly any games were terribly worthy of note. I'm not saying there weren't any, WoG, Brawl, and de Blob were all great, but they were so spaced out. 2008 was the hell that forced me into Microsoft territory. 2009 will really be good for me (maybe not my wallet )!
@shadows262 - Let's face it. If it weren't for shovelware, it would be impossible to have a release day once a week. They have to put something out each week.
@Supermarioman - What Alex is saying is that Nintendo can't afford to give you free stuff for buying games they don't turn much of a profit on (i.e. third party games). They'd lose too much money.
Like many others have said, I'm glad to see more Art Style games. I only have Orbient, but I really like that game. Cubello and Rotohex didn't really interest me that much, but Orbient shows some real potential for the series (so do the others, but they just didn't catch my eye). I still want a DSi. I won my DS Lite, so I don't feel ripped off, but Nintendo's revisions still bother me. In fact, the Wii is arguably just a GameCube-i. Seriously, think about it for a second. DSi = DS Lite + more aesthetic + DLC + camera Wii = GameCube + more aesthetic + DLC + motion
I'm not saying I dislike the Wii... but I'm starting to see a pattern here. Nintendo seems to think that the DSi is a new system as opposed to a revision. That's disturbing.
@slambert215- The late 80s/early 90s were great times to be a Nintendo fan...
@Zbomber - They should if you linked your accounts properly. I can't link mine because my My Nintendo account is registered under an email address I no longer have access to.
@Mr. Cheez - My thoughts exactly (I too am getting a 360 come the 25th) minus the Wii Sports Resort thing. I think Wii Sports and Miis are largely responsible for Nintendo's problem.
Screw it. I'm just going to make a new account. I won't get credited for my DLed games, but so what? I've already figured out that I have enough eligible games to get G&WC. Fun.
Scratch that. I'll wait. They found out my address has already been used.
@The Fox- Your response to Nintendork is what I, a former Nintendo fanboy, finally came to realize a month or two ago when Banjo-Kazooie slapped me in the face and woke me from my slumber... and plenty of other games. Again, I'd rather play constantly released good games on a system that's doomed to Red Ring sooner or later than play one great game per semester (which means six months, not just half of a school term). Nintendo has failed to deliver, and I hate Sony, so that leaves me with SEGA! Wait, this is the 2000's, I guess that leaves me with Microsoft! I used to have the same mentality as Nintendork until I saw great game after great game pass me by. Hooray for capable systems! I really hope Nintendo figures it out next-gen. Ah, well. I'll keep my Wii around for the occasional VC release and games like MadWorld and Brawl.
@Alex - I have enough games to get G&WC, but I have to migrate my My Ninty account over, so it'll be a few days before I'm ready to register my software. It takes 16 Wii Disc games to get one copy of G&WC.
I already have enough games to register to get G&WC, but I have to sort some things out with Ninty before I can migrate my My Nintendo account over. Ah, well.
@Manicfatty- I too am getting Banjo Kazooie 1 and 3 for 360 (and 2 whenever it comes out). I'm getting 360 because Nintendo failed me, not because I failed Nintendo, but especially not because of Gears. I hate "core" gamer's whose only support for being "core" is because they've shed photo-realistic blood in their favorite FPS. Playing fully-fledged, quality content-filled games of any genre constitues being a core gamer, not just playing Halo. Oh, and I second your whole 2nd paragraph. I'm also going to spend a different brand of points this holiday season, Microsoft Points! For great games like Banjo, Ikaruga, Smash TV, and Bionic Commando. I still love Nintendo, but they haven' t been loving me back (that sounded all kinds of awful). Anyway, I'm no longer a fanboy, and it's Nintendo's fault. That money being printed will eventually diminish once all of the casuals own the "Wii Series" and are tired of their toy. Maybe we cores can eventually take back N, but until then, I'd rather play on a system with an atrocious hardware failure rate with good games than on a system with good hardware reliability, poor memory, and a gem every 5 months. Oh, and about that letter. I've stopped sending them my money, so if enough people will do likewise, they might just hear me. Until then, I'll save my breath.
@Stuffgamer1- I'll check that out later, but I need to go to sleep now. I didn't mean that SB was bad necessarily, but this is a poor week in terms of quantity, and SB can only partially make up for the quality. I'm always glad for a release week that pleases the masses, even if that doesn't include me, but this one has pleased only those who like SB.
Edit: (still @stuffgamer1)
Wario Land was great! I only have WL2, 4, and Shake it!, but I've loved every one of them. It would be great if Nintendo would release an episodic 2D Kid Icarus game with all new levels (assuming the rumored disc based game doesn't exist). 2D platformers are underappreciated these days; I'd love to see some good ones on WW cough Sonic cough.
@Betagam7- I almost did once, but I ended up not sending my angry letter. Maybe I'll organize all of the angry posts here and send them off to Nintendo.
@Stuffgamer1- Hey, I saw that you got Sonic Unleashed and like it. I rented it, and I must say that I also enjoy it. I got the Wii version, and it's lots of fun. I plan on trying the 360 version as well (after I get one on the 25th).
Well. This sucks. This is one of the many reasons why I'm abandoning my previous promise to keep the Wii as my sole current-gen console. Too many 3rd party devs don't pay attention to it, I have most of the good VC games, and quality disc based software has been slimmer than ever for Nintendo this year. I've been riding on Brawl all year, and it's been too hard. I'm getting Banjo Kazooie, and I'm going to have a great holiday celebrating with decent software! Sorry Nintendo, you've screwed me over long enough; I'll be glad to support any great games you do release every 5 months, but I have to have something in the downtime, and MS is my ticket to that.

Clayfighter sucks. It's a good thing Street Fighter IV is on its way.

@Cally - Starwolf_UK meant that SEGA found a way around emulating the SEGA CD.
Re: USA VC Update: Sonic Chaos

Cubello and Rotohex didn't really interest me that much, but Orbient shows some real potential for the series (so do the others, but they just didn't catch my eye). I still want a DSi. I won my DS Lite, so I don't feel ripped off, but Nintendo's revisions still bother me. In fact, the Wii is arguably just a GameCube-i.
Seriously, think about it for a second.
DSi = DS Lite + more aesthetic + DLC + camera
Wii = GameCube + more aesthetic + DLC + motion
I'm not saying I dislike the Wii... but I'm starting to see a pattern here. Nintendo seems to think that the DSi is a new system as opposed to a revision. That's disturbing.
@slambert215- The late 80s/early 90s were great times to be a Nintendo fan...
Re: Club Nintendo Comes To North America
@Zbomber - They should if you linked your accounts properly. I can't link mine because my My Nintendo account is registered under an email address I no longer have access to.
Re: USA VC Update: Enduro Racer
@Mr. Cheez - My thoughts exactly (I too am getting a 360 come the 25th) minus the Wii Sports Resort thing. I think Wii Sports and Miis are largely responsible for Nintendo's problem.
Re: USA VC Update: Enduro Racer
@timp29 - Well... eh... I'm just pissed off !
Re: Club Nintendo Comes To North America
Screw it. I'm just going to make a new account. I won't get credited for my DLed games, but so what? I've already figured out that I have enough eligible games to get G&WC. Fun.
Scratch that. I'll wait. They found out my address has already been used.
Re: Review: Big Kahuna Party (WiiWare)
Not bad. I don't want another puzzler, but if the review is to be trusted (which I don't doubt), then this game is at least decent.
Re: USA VC Update: Enduro Racer
Re: Club Nintendo Comes To North America
@Alex - I have enough games to get G&WC, but I have to migrate my My Ninty account over, so it'll be a few days before I'm ready to register my software. It takes 16 Wii Disc games to get one copy of G&WC.
Re: Club Nintendo Comes To North America
I already have enough games to register to get G&WC, but I have to sort some things out with Ninty before I can migrate my My Nintendo account over. Ah, well.
Re: USA VC Update: Enduro Racer
Re: Review: Tetris Party (WiiWare)
@ReZon - No.
Re: Neko Porting Two More Playstation 2 Titles To WiiWare
@Gabbo - Do I detect sarcasm?
Re: USA WiiWare Update: Strong Bad Episode 5 & Big Kahuna Party
Re: Review: Strong Bad Episode 5 - 8-Bit is Enough (WiiWare)
@Stuffgamer1 - Any article can turn into a discussion on something unrelated at anytime. Let me get us back on track.
Great review, Marcel! I never tried the SB games, and I don't plan to, but it's nice to see the review so promptly.
Re: USA VC Update: Enduro Racer
@Betagam7- I almost did once, but I ended up not sending my angry letter. Maybe I'll organize all of the angry posts here and send them off to Nintendo.
@Stuffgamer1- Hey, I saw that you got Sonic Unleashed and like it. I rented it, and I must say that I also enjoy it. I got the Wii version, and it's lots of fun. I plan on trying the 360 version as well (after I get one on the 25th).
Re: USA VC Update: Enduro Racer
Well.
Re: USA WiiWare Update: Strong Bad Episode 5 & Big Kahuna Party
@Starwolf_UK - This is definitely one of the worst combined WW/VC weeks ever.
Re: Niki - Rock 'n' Ball Coming To European WiiWare This Friday
@Corbie - It sure was. This game looks fairly stupid, but I won't judge it until I see a review or two.
