@PhilKenSebben - Glad you're enjoying it too. I reviewed it over on my site and I really enjoyed it as I became addicted to it for about three weeks or so before launch. It's much better than the Mobile version, even though that one is free, because the pacing is so much better and all MTs are stripped out.
I've found a few games really fun and addictive on the Switch after launching as free on mobiles - Space Pioneer is another one which I reviewed back in December.
@KitsuneNight - I guess it's not for everyone. I've completed the game and got the bad ending and finished two of the five side stories (about 2-3 hours each) and about 4 arcade modes out of over 20. That's about 30-35 hours so far. If I aim to 100% everything, you're looking at around 60+ hours, so the price doesn't seem that bad to me (although, I did get a free review copy for the game)
When you look at it in comparison to the 'free' mobile game though, as others are, the Switch is actually much cheaper, a better experience and more consumer-friendly, even though you're paying upfront for it. It's not like most mobile ports, a five-minute and you're done type of game.
If, like me, you tend to get absorbed and lose time to addictive games on your mobile - this is a perfect alternative which is free of the MTs and totally re-structured around the new progress mechanics. But, if you don't care for those types of games, this wouldn't interest you. Depends what you like.
Lots of people complaining about the price in here...
Basically, yeah, the mobile version is 'free' - but that version is held together with energy limits (stopping you from playing unless you pay for more energy), up to £100 in 'gold' microtransactions, buying weapons for real cash, paying real money to buy dog biscuits to take them with you, multiple premium currencies, a VIP subscription monthly payment to access content, etc...
Whereas this version took all that out, put in everything in the mobile version (bar a few weapons) and delivered it as a single product. The physical version contains the Ghostbusters and Night of the Living Dead DLC for free as well. Also, these packs are more than a reskin, you get new weapons, unlock new companions, there's a new 12-part story in each of them lasting at least three hours per franchise, and it introduces some new gameplay modes which are slightly different.
Reading the above review, the writer clearly just didn't enjoy playing it. Yeah, the XP and gold trickle out slowly but that's so you keep playing and upgrade your items gradually - doing the Arcade missions and Side Stories grants you bigger rewards so you can buy upgrades faster. Believe me, the pacing and progression in this version is much faster than in the original mobile version.
My advice - download the mobile version, ignore all the in-app purchases and just try it out - if you like it, grab the Switch version, it's much more consumer-friendly. If you don't like it, it's cost you nothing to test out the gameplay (which is the same).
Personally, it's more than a 4/10 for people who want to play something mindless for a few minutes at a time. I've spent about 30 hours or so in it so far - probably more. It's fun
@Warioware the US doesn't have VAT, we do - so a direct conversion is about £246 - then if you add the 20% VAT you get ~£295 - so we actually get it cheaper than a direct conversion
@Grez however, not all those android users will be on a compatible version. I would guess about 30-40% of android users will be on a compatible version, unless Nintendo want to make it compatible with older versions - on iPhone it's 8 and up, so about 2 years of OS'
It's probably going to be the first 2/3 episodes where he gets pikachu, earns its trust, meets misty and Brock and battles team rocket. Should be pretty good. Will feel strange with different voice actors though. But like how I watch the mirage Pokemon film with original actors then when it came out to to buy they had replaced the voices with the new ones.
Will be buying this once it's out in English though, like I have done since day one
They missed a trick there. Giving the bankers the wii u version then releasing a chargeable switch one.
I feel sorry for people who can't afford new consoles on release who backed this expecting a wii u version. I hope they can get a full refund due to the devs not delivering the game they promised.
This was really cool, however, the first statement saying 'why shop at Amazon' made it seem like the only reason was to big up Best Buy - hopefully it was done through kindness and not business
@therealgamer IMDb can be edited by imdbpro subscribers. So don't take what's on there as truth.... Literally any oh the thousands subscribed could have put that up
Loads of companies do this, they just don't always make it clear that they pay for the services, but a lot of places do. Even Apple, Sony and MS pay you if you find a valid exploit and document exactly what it does and how it can be abused and replicated - so they can fix it
@HappyMaskedGuy don't be silly. There are 'ethical hackers' - that's their job title, they freelance a lot and hack systems to report what they find and get compensation for it.
It's good that Nintendo are now offering to pay for this service. Also, if a modder finds a way to mod the console would he release the method for free or get up to 20k for telling Nintendo? I'm sure they will do the latter
@ThanosReXXX not only are you a sad little individual but you also can't read. I never once said it was 'fake' - I said there is nothing new and it is all stuff that has already been circulating as rumours - so all she is doing by posting that is trying to claim 'ownership' of the rumours. Which is stupid.
What if the guy in charge of eurogamer went on Twitter with a hand written note saying the same things - will people instantly believe it is all 100% correct and he was the one who got the info first and because it's him then it must be true? No, I don't think they would, unless it was someone like you who seems to think that anyone who works or worked in online gaming news knows everything that is happening with companies they don't work for.
Chances are it will be true - but most of the guesses aren't really hard to guess based on how Nintendo work and what was in the trailer.
I'm guessing you googled the woman's name before you originally replied to me and read her wiki or something - I didn't bother because the article itself should have stayed who she was if they wanted us to actually care about what was being said
@Warruz no issue with anything. Just find it stupid the amount of people coming forward saying 'my sources say this...' When it's just a copy off what other places have said.
Well done to the people claiming leaks are theirs I suppose
@Raylax yeah but all she had there is a document she has typed up of all the recent leaks. I don't see what's new about this? It's like if I got all the rumours, typed up, made up a few things about games being delays and presented that as coming for a 'source'.
It's all very pointless, we have all head these rumours over and over
@Warruz loads of people had slims before they were released. Here in Manchester there was about 5 on gumtree a few weeks before the announcement which led to official leaks as eurogamer went and recorded it in use
A random nobody has typed up a list in word and expects everyone to believe it is true? It's just a collection of the various rumours that have been floating around recently.
It's just another people trying to get their 15 mins of fame online
@HopeNForever covers can change, it might be a feature they weren't going to implement but due to people wanting it, they have decided to put it in there?
@gcunit there are only 2 laters. The lcd then the touch screen. So if it's under there you have to take the whole pad apart - about 10 mins then using a sharp tool, pry the touch off the lcd which will remove the glue - or you could just pry a corner and scrape it out if it's near a corner?
It's not too difficult, it all depends if you think it's worth it or not
@gcunit it's not too bad. I bought some screwdrivers off eBay for a few quid - took about 15 mins to take apart. There are a few guides online. Where is the bug though because the touch screen is literally glued onto the lcd so you have to pry it off
Not really one step closer though is it? They have just gutted out the wii u pad and put in a Pi - not exactly the most difficult thing in the world. Now if he had been able to incororate a switch to flick from wiiu to Pi mode then that would have been impressive.
However, I've recently took my pad apart to replace the touch screen as it was broke and there is no room for anything else in the case, so he has simply gutted it out.
There is another uk store - not gonna mention it's name as you lot seem to have blown the whole thing out of proportion - they put a temp price of £9,999 when you pre order the switch - it's their standard placeholder which will reduce to the correct price once everything is announced - they don't take a penny off you or try and claim anything until you pay on release day - which by then it will have reduced to the right amount.
Game should have disabled PayPal for this preorder though, again, it checks you have the money but doesn't claim anything, it's the way PayPal works - then they adjust and it takes the right amount on release.
I don't see the issue, plus regarding why people are pre ordering now - maybe they just want to be sure they get one on order in case it sells out like the psvr and the wii did. Nothing worse than waiting til the last minute to find there is none left to pre order and you have to wait a few months after release to get one
@Mega_Yarn_Poochy seriously, that's your 'defence'? Bit-Trip runner had an End to each level, as did that one the Pokemon company team made on 3ds and the Rayman one.
Might not be endless as such but it's the same style, 1 button constantly running with you jumping every now and again. I dunno why you are defending it though, do you expect it t be more than a simple runner? If you do then you are going to be disappointed.
Plus 'endless' runner doesn't just refer to the level gains no end it also refers to the fact you are endlessly running - as in you can't stop
@Mega_Yarn_Poochy it clearly is. Go look at the ones based on sack boy, sonic or Rayman and compare the 2. They are identical. You press the screen/1 button to make him jump. Now and again you may get special items that let you fly if you press it repeatedly - but at the end of the day it's a bit-trip style runner without the rhythm
Why are people jumping to the conclusion that it will be on Sony/Xbox? Are you all stupid or just really young?
It being made in unity is nothing special, it's just an endless runner like the sonic, Rayman and sack boy ones - its nothing special. It probably will be on the switch as it has 1 button for you to press, so it's not exactly complicated or touch screen reliant.
In regards to the others like fire emblem it all depends on how much they use the touch screen of the phone - if they use it a lot then they probably won't come to the switch unless the controls can be easily mapped to the control pads
@DanteSolablood okay, most the games you just mentioned have quite a few sequels which have 'copied' off previous versions of the games so they don't 'count' as we are talking about recent games, not the first release based on what you have said.
Wario touch copied project rub which in turn copied the mechanics of warioware on gba. Trauma center - there have been medical games back in the age of DOS where you used your mouse to cut into people.
Smash brothers is just a standard fighter with the rules and mechanics tweaked a bit (which is what all games do - which is what I was getting at)
If you play rise of the tomb raider then go play uncharted 4 you are not going to think your in the same game. From an ignorant point of view you may think that but if you actually care about the story and gameplay then you know they are different.
Like I said though - these days in modern games you probably won't see an original game, they all borrow and enhance on previous versions or other games. You play a game because it looks/sounds interesting or it's something you like.
If you don't like the current games on the ps4 who cares? The console wasn't made just for you, there are hundreds of games out for it, plus the VR as well, it has 40m owners so there are people out there who enjoy the games that have come out for it. You sound like you are going to always be disappointed and angry if you just look at a game and go 'that's tomb raider' , 'that's cod', 'that's lego' etc...... Sounds very shallow and ignorant
@khaosklub rock band instruments work, just not the pro controllers, they didn't use these because they were crap, nobody used them and they got poor reviews because they didn't work properly all the time. But other than that literally every previous instrument works....
Regarding the 'are they any better or could they have been PS3 games' shows how ignorant you are. I am not going to continue this conversation as you clearly don't have an interest, you are just out to wind people up. Go run star ocean or ff15 on your PS3 then see if they could be done on the PS3 (a system that stopped having games released for it about 2 years ago)
@DanteSolablood that's what I mean though, based on your way of thinking nothing is original and everything is imitating something else. You can't name 5 games that are truly unique on any platform which doesn't have aspects of other games in them. It's impossible.
Originality in gameplay mechanics is gone but the story and implementation is what makes a game, however that isn't what your looking for - so good luck seeking a new original game that isn't 'like' something else. Not just on ps4 but I can't think of any on the Xbox one, PC, wii u, 3ds or vita....
@DanteSolablood why wouldn't you accept yakuza, just because you don't like them? What a crap argument. I don't like it, therefore it isn't a good game..... Yakuza is miles better than GTA with a more in depth story and so much more to do (they are single player and on 5 alone I've spent over 250 hours on it) but I wouldn't disregard GTA just because I don't like it....
The kingdom hearts are new remasters as well but they are ps4 only but they are remasters of the PS3 titles as far as I'm aware and you said ps4/3 games.
Again though, you are looking for games to justify to yourself why the ps4 is good and I can't be bothered with that, you will shrug off any of the Japanese rpg or random games I mention because you don't like them so I won't bother.
@khaosklub so your mains complaint is that sequels to games are like the game they are sequels of? Look on any platform and name me true originals that do not enhance on previous games or follow on from them.
What did you expect rock band 4 to do? Allow you to play a holographic guitar whilst you sat on the toilet and it read the news to you? Literally every rock band since 2 has been pretty much an add on to the previous one.
If all you think is the games are the same but prettier then you are never going to be satisfied and it's pointless replying to you. The games progress and build upon what they are, I buy every assassins creed because I love them, play to the end and aim to plat - every one feels different to me and really enjoyable. What I don't get are people who buy Fifa every year as that literally can't change the rules - it is the same game with new players and new graphics. That's one I would agree with you on (same with any sport). - but other games I would say that unless it's a remaster (which is purposely the same) then no, they are not the same games being reproduced with a slightly different story etc
@khaosklub sf5 is on PC but the ps4 version didn't have issues at the beginning like the PC. The definitive MK is ps4 atm until xl is out on PC and there are a few Japanese fighting games and blazblue is out this week (dunno if it's out on other platforms) and we had King of fighters recently as well and a few others - I don't really play a lot of fighting games like those.
We also got things like one piece burning blood a while before the PC version was announced - true they are out for Xbox as well some of them, but we all know the ps4 beats the Xbox
@DanteSolablood kingdom hearts and horizon (due out soon), infamous, the last of us, last guardian, ni no kuni 1and 2, uncharted 1-4, until dawn, yakuza 3, 4, the zombie one, 5, 6, zero and others. Not to mention the load of Japanese style games and koei games that have only just been ported to PC
@khaosklub very opinionated post there. You forget about the Japanese style games, fighting games (like SF), strategy games and slash-em-ups as well as many other genres that the ps4 does better than other platforms.
Your comment should have been 'ps4 is great if you like the games that come out on it as either exclusive or console exclusive' as there are a load of games 1 own that you have probably never heard of due to them not being on other platforms
@Robo-Knight no. The switch is not a 3ds replacement. Why don't people understand that? It is a new console to play new games.
There is no dual screen and probably no VC until the 3ds is gone (which isn't going to be for a very long time)
Just keep your 3ds for those games and get this if you want the new switch games. I wish people would stop going on about playing your 3ds and ds games on the switch, it's old and irritating
Considering this is 'standard' size and not the max size (no where in the tweet does it say it's the max) then fine.
However, the smaller the better tbh.
Imagine the carts were 32-64 gig in size, means we can get great frames right? Sure - then look at the common sd card size - 128gb.
So if you bought the games digitally then you could get about 2-4 games per sd card.... That's the good thing about the 3ds, I have a 64gb in mine and I have about 50 games on it with tonnes of room left. So unless the device has a built in 1tb hd then wanting bigger sized games may not be the best thing in the long run
Been telling people this since the switch announcement but everyone seemed to think it was replacing the 3ds when it clearly isn't.
Plus all those saying 'they said the same about the GB when the DS came out' are morons. The ds had full BC with the GB and GBA carts, that's why it replaced it as everyone bought a DS yet we're still able to play their games. You can't play 3ds on the Switch so you can not compare the 2 situations - it's so stupid.
@Drake ahhh OK, thanks for that. I don't understand Japanese so can only watch the subtitled episodes, so unless they do these I prob won't watch them.
I thought it was like the mini specials they used to do on the wii where Arino would play VC games.
I'm still waiting for a translation of the movie as well
People thought the footage was real? Probably real as in running on equiv hardware, but was so obvious it wasn't actually on the screens.
What I don't understand though is why the reduced the framerate of zelda on the pad? Expecially when earlier that day an amazingly smooth trailer was released
what is this? Is it a spin off of Game Centre CX but with the producer instead of Arino? I love GCCX, watched every subtitled version multiple times (if you want to see them for yourself Google 'gamingCX' - there is a site all the subbed videos get dumped onto)
Will watch this one later, altho without Arino it won't be as good - even if it is Zelda BotW
@Bflury the quality would be crap as the standard ds/3ds resolution is so low, and again - possibly no touch screen. Plus it's something else to buy and the kickstand wouldn't work - meaning there is a 100% chance it won't happen.
All these 'theories' you are coming up with are just that, Nintendo have released a small amount of info, but none of it seems to be what you want it to do. You are going to be disappointed if you actually believe what you are saying.
The base station is a tv out dock - so you can't use the tablet and TVs at the same time, the patent for cloud processing of other units is about 3 years old and wasn't used, they won't release add ons to allow playing ds style games as no confirmed touch screen, the device is technically a console, not a hand held and previous handhelds didn't cost £300-350 so I doubt they will develop functions which would require the same person to have 2 of them etc....
Why not just stop making up imaginary things and wait for Nintendo to tell you what's it can actually do??
@faint Well there has been no mention of a touch screen, plus once its on the dock you can't access the screen anymore, so having touch screen compatibility would be useless and would cost more to produce as it would only be active during portable mode and would require the devs to program extra functions to allows it (one of the reasons the wii u lost 3rd part support was because they had to develop their games with the wii u gamepad in mind)
And regarding most vita games not using the touch screen, I have a load of vita games, about 100+, and apart from maybe 1 or 2, the rest all use the touch screen (most don't bother with the rear one though as that one is pointless).
I just don't see why people believe this is a replacement to the 3DS - there has been no mention of the 3DS stopping production, or that this is replacing it - Nintendo have numerous times said it is NOT replacing the 3DS. The 3D is truly portable and pocket sized as it is their flagship handheld, plus with the 3D and dual screens, it offers things the Switch can't do. Both products can easily exist side by side, one doesn't threaten the others existence.

Re: Random: Raspberry Pi Hack Takes The Wii U GamePad One Step Closer To Switch
@gcunit it's not too bad. I bought some screwdrivers off eBay for a few quid - took about 15 mins to take apart. There are a few guides online. Where is the bug though because the touch screen is literally glued onto the lcd so you have to pry it off
Re: Random: Raspberry Pi Hack Takes The Wii U GamePad One Step Closer To Switch
Not really one step closer though is it? They have just gutted out the wii u pad and put in a Pi - not exactly the most difficult thing in the world. Now if he had been able to incororate a switch to flick from wiiu to Pi mode then that would have been impressive.
However, I've recently took my pad apart to replace the touch screen as it was broke and there is no room for anything else in the case, so he has simply gutted it out.
Re: Random: GAME 'Opens' Nintendo Switch Pre-Orders, Though Using Paypal is a Bad Idea
Re: Super Mario Run Has Been Built on Unity
@Mega_Yarn_Poochy seriously, that's your 'defence'? Bit-Trip runner had an End to each level, as did that one the Pokemon company team made on 3ds and the Rayman one.
Might not be endless as such but it's the same style, 1 button constantly running with you jumping every now and again. I dunno why you are defending it though, do you expect it t be more than a simple runner? If you do then you are going to be disappointed.
Plus 'endless' runner doesn't just refer to the level gains no end it also refers to the fact you are endlessly running - as in you can't stop
Re: Super Mario Run Has Been Built on Unity
@Mega_Yarn_Poochy it clearly is. Go look at the ones based on sack boy, sonic or Rayman and compare the 2. They are identical. You press the screen/1 button to make him jump. Now and again you may get special items that let you fly if you press it repeatedly - but at the end of the day it's a bit-trip style runner without the rhythm
Re: Super Mario Run Has Been Built on Unity
Why are people jumping to the conclusion that it will be on Sony/Xbox? Are you all stupid or just really young?
It being made in unity is nothing special, it's just an endless runner like the sonic, Rayman and sack boy ones - its nothing special. It probably will be on the switch as it has 1 button for you to press, so it's not exactly complicated or touch screen reliant.
In regards to the others like fire emblem it all depends on how much they use the touch screen of the phone - if they use it a lot then they probably won't come to the switch unless the controls can be easily mapped to the control pads
Re: Nintendo Switch to Reportedly Include 4GB of RAM
Re: Nintendo Switch to Reportedly Include 4GB of RAM
@khaosklub rock band instruments work, just not the pro controllers, they didn't use these because they were crap, nobody used them and they got poor reviews because they didn't work properly all the time. But other than that literally every previous instrument works....
Regarding the 'are they any better or could they have been PS3 games' shows how ignorant you are. I am not going to continue this conversation as you clearly don't have an interest, you are just out to wind people up. Go run star ocean or ff15 on your PS3 then see if they could be done on the PS3 (a system that stopped having games released for it about 2 years ago)
Re: Nintendo Switch to Reportedly Include 4GB of RAM
@DanteSolablood that's what I mean though, based on your way of thinking nothing is original and everything is imitating something else. You can't name 5 games that are truly unique on any platform which doesn't have aspects of other games in them. It's impossible.
Originality in gameplay mechanics is gone but the story and implementation is what makes a game, however that isn't what your looking for - so good luck seeking a new original game that isn't 'like' something else. Not just on ps4 but I can't think of any on the Xbox one, PC, wii u, 3ds or vita....
Re: Nintendo Switch to Reportedly Include 4GB of RAM
Re: Nintendo Switch to Reportedly Include 4GB of RAM
Re: Nintendo Switch to Reportedly Include 4GB of RAM
@khaosklub sf5 is on PC but the ps4 version didn't have issues at the beginning like the PC. The definitive MK is ps4 atm until xl is out on PC and there are a few Japanese fighting games and blazblue is out this week (dunno if it's out on other platforms) and we had King of fighters recently as well and a few others - I don't really play a lot of fighting games like those.
We also got things like one piece burning blood a while before the PC version was announced - true they are out for Xbox as well some of them, but we all know the ps4 beats the Xbox
Re: Nintendo Switch to Reportedly Include 4GB of RAM
@DanteSolablood kingdom hearts and horizon (due out soon), infamous, the last of us, last guardian, ni no kuni 1and 2, uncharted 1-4, until dawn, yakuza 3, 4, the zombie one, 5, 6, zero and others. Not to mention the load of Japanese style games and koei games that have only just been ported to PC
Re: Nintendo Switch to Reportedly Include 4GB of RAM
@khaosklub very opinionated post there. You forget about the Japanese style games, fighting games (like SF), strategy games and slash-em-ups as well as many other genres that the ps4 does better than other platforms.
Your comment should have been 'ps4 is great if you like the games that come out on it as either exclusive or console exclusive' as there are a load of games 1 own that you have probably never heard of due to them not being on other platforms
Re: Nintendo Switch to Reportedly Include 4GB of RAM
@Robo-Knight no. The switch is not a 3ds replacement. Why don't people understand that? It is a new console to play new games.
There is no dual screen and probably no VC until the 3ds is gone (which isn't going to be for a very long time)
Just keep your 3ds for those games and get this if you want the new switch games. I wish people would stop going on about playing your 3ds and ds games on the switch, it's old and irritating
Re: Rumour: Nintendo Switch Game Cards To Boast 16GB "Standard" Capacity
Re: Nintendo Will Continue To Develop 3DS Software After Switch Launch
Been telling people this since the switch announcement but everyone seemed to think it was replacing the 3ds when it clearly isn't.
Plus all those saying 'they said the same about the GB when the DS came out' are morons. The ds had full BC with the GB and GBA carts, that's why it replaced it as everyone bought a DS yet we're still able to play their games. You can't play 3ds on the Switch so you can not compare the 2 situations - it's so stupid.
Re: Video: Game Center DX Shows Off The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
@Drake ahhh OK, thanks for that. I don't understand Japanese so can only watch the subtitled episodes, so unless they do these I prob won't watch them.
I thought it was like the mini specials they used to do on the wii where Arino would play VC games.
I'm still waiting for a translation of the movie as well
Re: Fans "Shouldn't Assume" That The Nintendo Switch Reveal Trailer Features "Actual Game Footage"
People thought the footage was real? Probably real as in running on equiv hardware, but was so obvious it wasn't actually on the screens.
What I don't understand though is why the reduced the framerate of zelda on the pad? Expecially when earlier that day an amazingly smooth trailer was released
Re: Video: Game Center DX Shows Off The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
what is this? Is it a spin off of Game Centre CX but with the producer instead of Arino? I love GCCX, watched every subtitled version multiple times (if you want to see them for yourself Google 'gamingCX' - there is a site all the subbed videos get dumped onto)
Will watch this one later, altho without Arino it won't be as good - even if it is Zelda BotW
Re: Nintendo Switch Will Be a Single-Screen Experience
Re: Xbox Bosses Praise The "Bold Vision" Of Nintendo Switch
