@NoTinderLife I'm 58 and you got it right. My reflexes aren't what they used to be so it is turn based JRPGs and SRPGs most of the time now, though I can still do well at games like Diablo. Regardless, I've been playing RPGs since my C64 days and Shin Megami Tensei series is my favorite. Digital Devil Saga and Strange Journey in particular...
Why in the heck is the playfield so small, especially when so much of the screen is wasted? I am really getting tired of all these games that think small is better. Am I really the exception? Us older players can't see all this small text either. When developers produce games for Switch, they really should consider portable play and size things appropriately.
NSO it's a deal compared to the competition. $20 a year for online play and backups is fair compared to them. For me, the retro games are a bonus. I probably won't upgrade to the expansion unless it's just $5 extra a year. I have no interest in most of those N64 games (early 3D games give me motion sickness) and I already have the Genesis collection on multiple consoles.
Others have mentioned it's exclusion, but where the heck is The House in Fata Morgana? The game is amazing and is ranked #1 Switch game on Metacritic, even ahead of BOTW. Why hasn't Nintendo Life reviewed it???
I've played almost all the Picross games. Jupiter has a great format with lots of features, but the pictures in the puzzles are getting more and more unrecognizable (Kekono Friends, looking at you!) It may not have some of the QOL features Jupiter has, but my all-time favorite Picross games is Piczle Cross Adventure, a funny 2D RPG.
i think $349 is probably fair for this new unit. Bigger screen, double the onboard storage etc. A true Switch Pro would have been more, like $399 or higher. They should have called it Switch XL or something. I am not surprised at no increase in processing power etc. They never really took advantage of the New 3DS power increase. Even though I think the price is fair, I will not being buying the OLED version. I have q Lite for handheld play and a regular Switch for playing on the TV. I'd rather use a Lite since its weight is lighter.
Both my Switches have this problem. I changed DNS to Google servers (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4). I still get the error, but I just keep trying the download and it eventually works. I don't leave the downloading page while it downloads. It's a pain but I have gotten games to install.
This problem is inexcusable since Nintendo is running a huge sale right now. Lots of people are buying multiple games and can't download them. And I'm sure a lot of people aren't as informed about workarounds or tech savvy enough to adjust DNS or clear cache etc.
Am I the only person who thought Octopath looked terrible? The artwork was nice, but the background blur hurts my eyes and I can't bear to play the game. This game looks better so I might try it. It has been years and years since I played it on GBC...
58 year old eyes here... Switch has been a huge letdown for me because of small text. I still prefer my 3DS since those games were designed for small screens. On a TV, still, many games are unplayable for me except on my 65" TV in the living room. My 43" in the bedroom doesn't cut it. I don't like the whole tiny text movement on my PC games either. It's ridiculous!
SMT: Digital Devil Saga 1 & 2 next, please. Better story and characters and the same great combat and demon recruitment. Still my fave games among SMT and its spin-offs including the Personas...
I really, really hated this game when it came out, for the reasons the reviewer mentioned. Die, die, die right from the beginning with no direction at all. I don't know why Square is putting so much effort into rereleasing SaGa games. They had so many great non-Final Fantasy games from that era. Xenogears, Vagrant Story, Parasite Eve series, Front Mission 3, Brave Fencer Musashi, Threads of Fate... I would so love to see some of them polished up and released, especially Xenogears.
For those of you complaining that Mario 35 was replaced by this game, you need to know this is a Namco product, not a Nintendo product. So don't blame this game on Nintendo's poor decisions.
Just get a Legends Ultimate cabinet. Comes with 300 games, ArcadeNet for online multiplayer, and the ability to add all the games you want, including these... comes with 2 sets of controls, including 2 spinners and a trackball...
I don't know why anyone is surprised with the censorship. It's an Atlus game that is published by Nintendo, emphasis on Nintendo. Atlus games often have a more mature, more political bent to them about modern Japanese culture, especially in the Shin Megami Tensei series, of which this is a spin-off. Is anyone surprised that it would get scrubbing of such content by Nintendo, the king of kid-friendly games?
I really, really hated this game. I bought it when it first came out. It is too open ended. Everywhere I went I was grossly underpowered. There was no direction. I was always lost and extremely frustrated and tired of getting wiped out over and over again. There were so many other Square games back then that were better. How about a remake of Xenogears?
I never was a fan of Mappy, but Mappy-land is great fun. So is Mendel Palace. A nice surprise. Legacy of the Wizard is interesting. I love Gaplus, so I'm happy it is here. Super Xevious isn't super. I like Dragon Buster 2 better than the first one. Dig Dug 2 is weird but I'm glad it is there. Overall, I'm enjoying this volume better than the first one.
I find the controls on both Pac-Man and Championship Edition to be very sloppy on my Switch Lite. 😕 As a result, I'm enjoying Volume 2 much more. The chibi Splatterhouse is pretty cool, though.
@KingMike I have them all on my RG350 but it would be nice to have them on Switch. Namco Museum sets of late have really been lacking. And these new sets just duplicate too much from the existing Museum collection on Switch. I wish they would be more like SNK which has so many of their early games and Neo Geo available on the system.
Too many duplicates with Namco Museum Switch! What about Bosconian? Rally-X? Pole Position? Or lesser known games like Phelios? Cutie Q? Motos? Phozon? Blast Off? Baraduke? King & Balloon? Libble Rabble? Etc...
For those saying they don't see PS1 beating N64... World-wide sales: PS1 102 million, N64 33 million Back then JRPGs were most popular genre in Japan and many were "depressing" compared to Nintendo's more lighthearted games.

Another good entry to start with is the upcoming SMT: Strange Journey Redux. The original was amazing. My favorite SMT title along with SMT: Digital Devil Saga on PS2.
I loved Culdcept on the PS2. Only one problem. Games could last hours and you couldn't save in a game. You had to make sure you had a really long block of time set aside before each playing session. I hope this isn't the case this time.

SMT III: Nocturne. About halfway through it. Always playing tournaments in Pinball FX3. And various Picross games.
