They're playing the long game... they can see the switch selling well and so want to space out the 3rd party software instead of opening the floodgates and drowning the eshop. This starvation is building anticipation for even the smaller games meaning these games are selling better. It actually makes good business sense.
They also said from very early on that they didnt just want to rely on ports but accept "new games" in equal measure to ports. Yes, that may disgruntle developers queuing at the door to get their previously released products through and sour previous relations but from a consumers point of view I like seeing new and original content on my new and original console... so the ports can wait and be patient.
This must be incredibly frustrating but dont be too disheartened, i've had a marvelous time playing Digger Dan and I for one will be keeping an eye on what you rustle up next. From the looks of this thread you also have the support of the community. Chin up, dust yourself off, dont give up.
Anyone know how we can get hold of French and German sales figures? I know we use chart-track.co.uk for the UK but frankly im more interested in seeing the rest of Europe.
Fairly sure it'll come over to Europe, they brought over A-Train, gotcha racing and tank hero which were all new/unknown IP. I think it's a safe bet they'll bring over a known IP like this.
@marakassi ... agreed on Shadow Wars... its a barnstormingly good strategy game and my first ever game on 3DS... held off playing Mario Kart because I knew i'd get addicted to it and ignore Tom Clancy... didn't happen!
A was abit unsure about this idea... that was about an hour ago, since that moment i've been endlessly listing every game I can remember playing...and i'm absolutely hooked... great idea!... Steel Divers on a lowly 5.7?? pffft ... soon see about that : 3
When Square-Enix finish a product they ask for consumer feedback afew weeks post release, one complaint was that it was not always entirely obvious if a side-quest's decision would result in a good/bad ending. Theory is, when your playing such a large game many players are unlikely to re-play the entire scenario, so what the localisation team did was try to make the experience as satisfying as possible for the likely one playthrough... yes it was a hatchet job, yes the costume and tomahawk class scenario are unfortunate, but they do not retract from an otherwise fantastic game. Strange how the boobtastic adventures of Senran Kagura and Project x zone dont hit the flesh editor button? Probably because it was Square Enix who made the decision to make the cuts, not Nintendo. On a side note, localisations are often edited across all platforms, why is Nintendo taking all the flak recently?
So, a studio tries to keep afloat by re-making their DS games (which were excellent at the time) and creates a stopgap game in Xeodrifter and you'd think they'd just decanted themselves onto a hornets nest. I think they deserve abit more slack. Sure, they're notorious for announcing new projects before finishing older ones and Jool's whinges about sales figures but fact is he IS still supporting Nintendo hardware and still trying to push the boat out with cross system support and experimenting with episodic releases. RK have proven themselves a solid dev in the past and crowdfunding a game means they have some freedom in regards to time and resources to invest in 2016 worthy level design, scenarios, game engine the works... So yes for Dementium 3.
This reviews really stirred some debate!... Just remember though, it is one person's opinion and whilst the reviewer may have a strong base of experience, its not reflective of how YOU will find the game.
OH.... boy oh boy oh boy... what a delicious line-up, can probably expect afew Japanese e-shop titles to come over also... the battle Cats and Mamotte Knight look fantastic... now if only I wasnt still hopelessly addicted to Kid Icarus Uprising I might actually find time to play these : /
Can we just change this to a European report already? For whatever reason the UK dosn't perform it takes the gloss off Nintendo's European ventures as a whole... i've now stopped caring about the UK market but the French and Germans are keeping the ship afloat and really competing. I understand that this an english language site but frankly the constant doom and gloom of this UK report makes it sound as if big N are about to pull out of europe at any moment! It would be a nice psychological incentive to stick with Ninty news knowing that its not just blind loyalty keeping us here but that Ninty CAN and DOES perform elsewhere around Europe.
@Sligeach I agree completely, rubbish cyber-whatever-week deals and no chrimbo discounts on 1st party is a pretty poor showing, also where's the yearly Level 5 and Sega 3D classic sale? They usually sell bucketloads...
I doubt Nintendo are doing this to give 3rd parties a chance at sales, FAST NEO and Steamworld Heist have had their Christmas spotlight already, the only thing 3rd party here is the 3DS sale we've all seen over and over again. Come on NOE, pick the ball up...
Hmmm, heres a thought... instead of posting just the UK sales, show the German and French markets also. I understand that the UK is the largest singular market in europe, but the other big euro nations combined exceed the UK sales (vgchartz)... if nothing else it paints a nicer picture then the doom and gloom of just the UK market.
Nintendo does it's own thing at it's own pace, it dosn't concern itself with being as competitive or market competent as its rivals and just continues trundling along in it's own world... yet continues making some of the best games we're ever going to play. No, Nintendo are not going to monopolise the gaming scene or have the numbers they did 20 years ago... the gaming industry has grown and evolved from the NES dominance years where the industry had previously fallen over... NES was the recovery of the gaming industry as a whole and now it has competition which frankly is good news for us all. People don't jump ship from Nintendo, they themselves evolve and explore other avenues... and in my case, after enjoying what its rivals have to offer, still find time to power up a ninty console on a regular basis.
You helped bring so much joy, laughter and happy memories to countless numbers of people. You shaped our sense of adventure, wonderment and imagination. We are all better people for the effect you have had on our lives. Mr Iwata. Thank You.
Wow, this has received a bucket load of response... my 2 cents...
Simply advertise the vc library more, lower prices slightly, offer bundles for vc series (donkey kong land set for price of two etc) Get the the GBadvanceware onto the new3DS, give away vc releases with new updates in series ( example Kirby... we're already paying £30+ for the new WiiU version, give the vc for free ) Have demo's for the vc releases which arnt guaranteed sellers. With such gems as Super Monsters Ate My Condo getting the nod? Groovey...
Well said @sub12 regarding the large publishers void. Quite sad to hear RK having trouble making ends meet, perhaps the big N should be offering more support to these small loyal developers (without necessarily buying them out!) Hopefully Xeodrifter sells well and maybe they'l consider an expansion as like Mutant Mudds... A beefed up Xeodrifters could be epic. Keep up the good work RK!
Cheap yet fun, not to the standards of megaman or gunman clive but not a bad effort according to a Japanese 3ds site... pixel art by a person named Neko Penguin... how can anyone resist?

still remember the day i finally cracked the last cheat... Facility in under 2 minutes or something ludicrous like that... ran around the house like a ferret on fire ... very happy days
Starting to wish Zordix would just permanently reduce the price for their moto racing games instead of sales every other week. This tactic dosnt seem to be shifting many copies according to their eshop popularity positions : /
Didn't Assassin's Creed Liberation win the handheld bafta last year? Credit where its due however there were some superb games nominated this year.
"BAFTA does not receive any funding from the government, so instead relies on income from membership subscriptions, individual donations, trusts, foundations and corporate partnerships to support its ongoing outreach work."... so basically an industrial back patting exercise... ignore them.
