Re: Random: God Of War Director Praises Witcher 3 On Switch, Says It's "Some Kind Of Dark Sorcery"

I had no problems with the visuals at all, certainly they don't compare to systems that have the power of a PC or the PS4/XB1 but as a handheld system or even docked the game still looks pretty good. As did Doom and the Wolfenstein games. All looked great for being on a system that has to be powerful enough to play them but also not have 30 minutes of battery life.

I wasn't trashing the Wii U, I loved mine. But it was an abysmal failure compared to what the Switch has accomplished in terms of consoles sold and games sold and in way less time. 3rd parties for the most part ignored the Wii U in pretty short order. The Switch is also way more powerful, not sure if you were trying to say otherwise. But I love the Wii U, it just did very poorly. If it didn't they wouldn't have cut its lifespan so fast (4 plus years and after 4 years almost all development for the system was non-existent)

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Is Releasing Two New Versions Of Switch This Year

Like I have been saying for a year now, there is literally zero chance the present Switch is what Nintendo depends on competing with in 2020/21/22. A more powerful Switch will sell like hot cakes, and they know it. Sure the base Switch will be here for 7 years or more but cheaper/smaller and also more powerful versions are a certainty.

There are multiple triple A 3rd party games on the Switch right now. They are older games though, like the "new" Doom and Doom 2 and Skyrim etc. If the system was more powerful you would see a ton more. And Indie games are mostly driving the Switch and some Nintendo releases. Triple A game makers will support Nintendo when they can make games that will be portable in some form to what Nintendo's console can play. No way does this system stay just as successful in 2022/23/24 with the same specs it has now.

Good post but the system needs to be at least powerful enough to allow great developers to port games to the system. I can live with Doom style ports on my Switch any day of the week. But to continue to do so with the other system sellers going up again in specs the Switch as it stands now will need more memory and a bit more CPU/GPU power. It is inevitable unless you want to see no ports at all by 2021. Just my opinion..

I don't disagree with your comment for the most part. Trust me they will sell a ton of new consoles because new games will start to be made for those consoles and gamers will buy those systems. My point is it will be nay impossible to bring games that are made for even the high end PS4 Pro or XBOX One X over to Switch let alone the new games that will surely come out for their new consoles. It is a matter of ports, Nintendo is living now mostly off of indie games and their own games. Very few triple A titles that appear first on the PS4/XB1 come to the Switch. Imagine if the same Nintendo Switch is Nintendo's main console in 2021? There will literally be no ports at all. Maybe there will be a lot more Nintendo produced releases in the future once the 3DS is no longer being supported. They still will need to upgrade this system so they can add more memory and a bit more power. To not do so for 2021 and beyond is IMO a mistake.

I think no doubt about it there will be a NEW 3DS type update. What will you see on there? How about systems from their past like N64/DS/3DS/GCN games with an online membership and the updated model? Or just being able to get full 1080p/30-60 FPS on some of those titles that don't quite get there in docked mode. They had a ton of success with the jump to New 3DS and then didn't support it that much with NEW 3DS only games. I would bet they do it again but this time make it more worthwhile.

Re: Head Of Abstraction Games Addresses Technical Performance Of The Switch

BOTW wasn't built from the ground up to be a Switch game, it became a Switch game one year into it's development for the Wii U. Either way it would have been impossible (when it was developed) to put any more horsepower inside a tablet without raising the price through the roof and having terrible battery life. A more powerful Switch will hit stores in the next few years, probably fall of 2020 or spring of 2021. But Nintendo will always go this route over just putting a big powerful console on the market especially when there are 2 other hardware makers out there doing the same thing.

Re: Ubisoft Will Not Release Rainbow Six Siege On The Nintendo Switch

@EightBitMan You having fallen out of liking Nintendo franchises has blinded you to the tens of millions of people who don't feel the same way apparently. The Switch is a huge success, there is a metric F-ton of 3rd party games and indies and a lot of them have sold very well. The Switch may not get all the top AAA 3rd party games but those other systems don't get the AAA Nintendo releases. Those others also don't have portability which for me is very important. Wii U comparisons are laughable, the amount of games already available on the Switch is insane and a ton more announced every week. Switch is a huge seller and will remain so going forward. The Wii U was dead in the water before the 1st year of its life ended.
