I thought the first one was really good. I didn't care at all for the story, the narrator and the attempts at humour - all of which I thought were really terrible, but the gameplay itself was nice and I really enjoyed that. I thought some things - like the combat - were even better than Breath Of The wild.
@Medic_Alert When I see articles like this, I don't really feel bad or blame EA. It's people like Konami that I think are the really stupid people. Imagine if they released a proper PES or whatever it is called now, it would blow these Legacy Editions away. Anyway I'm hoping the Mario soccer game is good fun. Will play that instead of Fifa
@Octane_st1m I think it basically depends on how soon after it came out that it became f2p, and also how quickly the lobbies start becoming quite inactive. If I bought Rocket League a year or even 6months ago and found that after a while it was getting really difficult to find anyone to play against online and then it gets announced that the game is going to be f2p, that would be great news to me because it is extremely annoying to me to have a great or fun multiplayer game with few or no people to play against. I no longer play SF 20th Anniversary and quite a few other games with online play that I own and like because of this reason. People are different though so I can understand that not everyone sees it that way.
@Octane_st1m disappointed about it becoming free? How does that make sense? If it does become free, a lot more people will definitely get the game and so you can expect the lobbies to be a lot more active which means that those who bothered to buy the game will THEN get their monies worth because there will be a plentiful supply of people to play against, instead of waiting for long periods to get a match. There are many fighting/online games that I have bought or want to buy but empty lobbies ruin the experience. If they made them free so many more people come online, I will be glad.
@Specter_of-the_OLED What sort of lame excuse is that? The online play was terrible. End of. I have other fighting games on Switch like MK11, Power Rangers, Naruto, Fantasy Strike and Smash, and 20th Anniversary has the absolute worst online gameplay of all of them. And Capcom and SF is much bigger than most of the others and yet they can't get online right. They had online play for the 4 most popular games (even though I would rather have had Alpha 2 instead of 3) and you think that that shows they didn't really have online in mind? It's no wonder why the game was going on sale regularly not long after if it was released. If that game was released with decent online and cross play, I bet the lobbies would still be very active even today but instead most people have already forgotten about it.
After the terrible online experience with 20th Anniversary, I would not come near any SF games or collection on Switch. People complain about how bad Smash Ultimate is online but 20th Anniversary is 100 times worse and somehow it is hardly mentioned.
Sephiroth should have been buffed. His nair should have longer active frames and the end lag on some of his moves should've been reduced. And his grab range is terrible.
@Bass_X0 No that's not how it works. Most people believe that the N64 and Genesis should not add more than $10 or $15 to the regular plan so that would come out to about $30 or $35. So that would mean Nintendo is probably charging about $15-20 for the DLC. That may seem ok now to an AC fan but next year and the years after they too will have to pay $15-20 for the same DLC. Makes no sense. This should have been broken up into different packages where you can opt in if you want. I don't play AC so have absolutely no interest in that DLC. And absolutely no fans asked for Genesis games on NSO (and this is 100% true simply because Genesis is not a Nintendo console so no one would have had any reason to argue that their games should come to NSO).
I remember these guys saying great things about Baldo...Do not make any purchasing decisions based on their reviews if you're really careful with your money
Not very surprising when the game is almost always on sale - like 75% off. Happy it's on the switch and I've put in quite a few hours in it but honestly, it is not a really balanced game.
@BionicDodo I came here to say that exactly. I do not blame EA. It's Konami that's the totally useless party here. This crap EA us pulling would've been their opportunity to grab some serious marketshare but they seem to have thrown in the towel without even a whimper.
@Magrane The game just feels funny...and not in a good way. The graphics and effects are quite terrible (and this is coming from someone who NEVER complains at all about graphics in any Switch ports). It's not so much that they are terrible but it seems even worse than I remember EX Plus Alpha 2 being. The character designs for the most part seem to look worse than EX Alpha 2 - I mean like their look, clothes and stances. I was a big fan of Kairi, D-Dark, Sharon and V. Rossi but I don't even like the way they look here. And the gameplay didn't even excite me at all. Don't take my word for it though - try the demo out for yourself. You might have a different opinion.
I was a VERY big fan of the Street Fighter EX Series. EX 2 Plus Alpha is probably my favourite SF ever so I was really looking forward to this. Downloaded it as soon as it showed up on the eshop but it's been an absolute letdown
My favourite genre in games are fighting games such as these but unfortunately I find that many of the fighting games which I like the most do not have great online like SF 30th Anniversary which has really terrible and laggy online and KOF 98 which doesn't even have online. I've been eyeing this game for a long time but my worry is that the online experience will be poor or the online community is almost non existent with no one in the lobbies. Does anyone know what online is like with this game?
Capcom Vs SNK 2 was a game I really enjoyed on the PS2. Would be a really pleasant surprise to have it on the Switch BUT WITH decent online gameplay. The terrible experience playing SF 30th Anniversary online ruined the game for me so what should have been one of my most played games on the Switch has instead turned to something I hardly ever play. The same goes for KOF 98 (my personal best KOF) but without online gameplay, I hardly ever play it now since I haven't anyone around me to play with.
Please is there anyone here FROM THE US that plays Smash Ultimate online? On the average, how long does it take you to find people to play against in Quickplay and secondly, in Public Arena are there usually lots of rooms to join whenever you search for them or is it often empty?
This game has so much potential but some really terrible choices makes it quite average. Like pig tails - they ruined it online by removing what made it a competitive game when playing offline.
@Clammy Well I'd like to hear it. Is it really that good or just gimmicky? And does it have decent replay value (or long enough to keep one engaged for a long time - 100s of hours hopefully)? And also, do you it can offer decent exercise like maybe for someone trying to lose some weight?
@Kalmaro me too! I actually thought of the game just a few days ago. I was wondering what happened to it. I was very interested when it came out but somehow with new releases I totally forgot about it since then.
I feel like when games like these have terrible online experience, it should be docked a lot of points in reviews. People are always going on about how bad Smash Ultimate online is and yes, it isn't great but it is miles ahead of some other switch titles like SF 30th Anniversary Collection. The online experience was EXTREMELY bad!!
@Mateo_El_Goron @jtmnm Ok. I never understood why they didn't just make one of the jump buttons a short hop and the other one a full hop. I guess it is to seperate the pros from the noobs since it takes quite a bit of skill to master.
@Swifthom Yea, I also fear the controls will be worse than they were on the Wii U. I really hope analogue sticks won't be the only way to play it. I didn't even realise that was an option when I was playing Pikmin 3 until long after I had completed the game. My nunchuks had an issue so It was frustrating playing with them and one day I somehow found you could use analogue sticks but the experience was sooo poor compared to the analogue sticks that I gave up on the game. Losing the Gamepad screen will be less of an issue to overcome
@RazumikhinPG My thoughts exactly. Everyone acting like it's just a little cute mistake because it's BOTW, but to me it shows a total lack of professionalism when you just Google something and copy it into your book without doing any research on what your search revealed. But in this age, I'm not sure there's anything really strange about what he did as it seems to be the norm, when almost every tech/game site news, tech/game reviews and even movie reviews are basically just copies of what some other person or site said but when you check actual User reviews, it's totally different. It kinda annoys me when such people are referred to as journalists, so you can probably imagine how I feel about this person here being called an author.

I hope the Origami King is more like TTYD
I think it would be cool if Microsoft buys them, if only so they could make a crossover game with Mortal Kombat and Killer Instinct. I think the characters from KI will fit in perfectly with MK. KI now looks quite dark and MK has become a very combo heavy game
@Eddster I've said this a few times on other articles about the game. If it wasn't a Nintendo game, no one would even talk about it, Nintendolife would not bother reviewing it and even if they did, the comments would be filled with how Nintendo is allowing all sort of crap into the eShop but because it's a Nintendo game, all of a sudden, it's the best game of the month. Ridiculous!
@glaemay Please mention one place in any of my posts on this article I talked about money? I just hope you're not one of those people who everything Nintendo is automatically = wonderful regardless of reality? Go see the reply on my comment from @dazzleshell and ask yourself why I didn't reply his comment. Because he simply understands that my argument is that this game is given so much absurd recognition and high ratings simply because it is a Nintendo game and I also clearly understood his point. I don't think it's terrible game so to speak but it is totally unremarkable.
@glaemay I didn't argue about the price! Because it's free and doesn't take money from anyone is hardly a good reason why it should be given 8/10. It looks bland, sound is dull, isn't very accurate, and has no variety or options but because it's from Nintendo and it is free they are suddenly talking about it like it's the next Ring Fit Adventure. I bet if it wasn't from Nintendo, you would have been one of the people that would've come to the comments to talk about how Nintendo is letting the eShop get flooded with crap.
@nessisonett seriously, the game is so basic, it makes no sense! It's kinda like one of those games you launch and try it out for a few mins and then hardly ever come back to it again and they are giving it an 8/10. It isn't even very accurate and totally miscounts your jumps! If this wasn't a Nintendo game, they wouldn't even waste their time reviewing it.
This review is a joke! 8? If this game was made by anyone other than Nintendo they wouldn't even consider it worthy of a review! There's hardly anything to do and it gets old very quickly and then to make matters worse, it isn't very accurate - counting skips for you when you have hardly moved or even worse continuing to count skips for you when you have stopped "skipping". On top of that, the presentation is very bland.
It's a waste of space. Gets old veeerry quick! People are just making noise about it and acting like they love it simply because it is from Nintendo. I am a huge Nintendo fan myself but this is a waste of time.
So many people are getting upset here...and with good reason too, but I believe the only reason EA can get away with this for this long is because they have no competition in that field (no pun intended 😁). So the company I'm really pissed off at is Konami not EA. If they were releasing PES on Switch, EA wouldn't try this.
