2022 marks the 35th anniversary of Capcom's legendary Street Fighter series and the company's already started celebrating by sharing a special new logo with fans.
Shared on social media, Capcom's new design depicts a large '35th' written in the original game's iconic styling. "Cheers to 35 years of epic fights, fireballs and iconic rivalries," the caption reads.
As spotted by VGC, however, a similar post shared on Capcom's Japanese channels goes one step further. According to VGC's translation, the official Japanese Street Fighter Twitter account not only discusses the new logo, but also offers a passing tease at the "future development" of the series.
"Street Fighter will celebrate its 35th anniversary in 2022. We have created a logo to celebrate the 35th anniversary with our supporters.
Please look forward to the future development of the Street Fighter series."
Of course, the last time a brand new entry in the Street Fighter series arrived on a Nintendo system was when Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition launched for the Nintendo 3DS, but Switch has been treated to the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection since then.
It's not yet clear whether a theoretical 'Street Fighter VI' is in development, nor whether any future games will launch for Nintendo's consoles, but here's hoping it's a 'yes' to both.

Excited to see what happens, despite being a bitter early adopter of Street Fighter V. All of Capcom’s major releases have been stellar the past few years (apart from maybe the Resi 3 Remake). One of the few big publishers who’s releases I approach with optimism.
With just a new logo they have done better than Konami's Castlevania "celebration".
@Enigk unless their surprise are NFTs lol
Wow, I thought this was going to be another NFT auction for that picture.
Thank god I was wrong
Really eager to see what Street Fighter 6 running on the REengine looks like.
Another Street Fighter anniversary collection with just these 12 games for Switch would be nice. These are the 12 we didn't get on the previous collection.
Street Fighter 2010: The Final Fight
Hyper Street Fighter II
Hyper Street Fighter Alpha
Street Fighter Alpha 2 Gold
Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max
Street Fighter the Movie: The Game (Arcade version)
Street Fighter the Movie: The Game (Console version)
Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha
Street Fighter EX2 Plus
Street Fighter EX3
Super Street Fighter IV
Ultra Street Fighter IV
Street Fighter V on Xbox and Switch? 😁
@DiggleDog I love Resident Evil 3, it's a bit short but fantastic.
@Banjo- Sony paid for SFV's development and exclusivity, so neither will probably ever happen.
@Magician They paid part of the marketing and tournaments but it wasn't developed nor published by Sony so who knows, that can't last forever. I think it will come to other platforms eventually.
@Banjo- yeah Sony have stolen the Street Fighter franchise for themselves. Street Fighter is HUGE in competitive gaming, Sony accommodated that community very early on which gave PlayStation the sales advantage historically with the franchise. They basically own the IP now, or rather, Capcom have a contract with them on it.
I guess kind of like Bayonetta on Nintendo, similar situation.
@Gamer_Zeus Well, they reached an agreement about the tournaments and marketing of V, nothing more. Nintendo funded the development of Bayonetta 2 and published it.
I don’t play, but I do enjoy watching the high level tourneys
@Gamer_Zeus SF V's exclusivity to PS4 was a one-time deal. It's all but guaranteed SF VI won't be exclusive to Sony platforms. Capcom won't need funding this time around with all the Monster Hunter money flowing through their coffers.
@DiggleDog Have you tried not being bitter at Street Fighter V?
@Banjo- Capcom went to Microsoft first to help fund Street Fighter V in return for exclusivity. Microsoft turned them down, preferring to back Killer Instinct instead. So Capcom went to Sony.
So I read years ago.
Would love Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition on Switch
@Balta666 Hopefully they read the room last week.
Street Fighter is a series that I find absolutely fascinating in it's world, characters and music but have never taken the plunge into actually getting an entry. It would be a great way to get into more traditional fighting games after playing smash for as long as I have (and it may actually make me want to learn the shotos for once) and I'd finally get to play as some of the characters I've found the most interesting like Vega. I'll probably get that collection on the eShop with all of the SNES - PS1 era games after every other one of my priorities is taken care of like Animal Crossing and Celeste.
@Enigk I am hoping for the same but it is not out of the possibilities. Just saying ...
After the terrible online experience with 20th Anniversary, I would not come near any SF games or collection on Switch. People complain about how bad Smash Ultimate is online but 20th Anniversary is 100 times worse and somehow it is hardly mentioned.
@Fizza I would recommend Ultimate Street Fighter II on Switch as well.
I'm up for a rerelease of some of the cross over titles that have not been re-released, but i guess that would maybe be more of a capcom celebration than a street fighter one.
However characters for Street fighter are front and center in those games. I'm down for Marvel vs Capcom 2 / 3 on , Tatsunoko Vs Capcom Xmen Vs Street fighter / Marvel vs Street Fighter / SNK vs Capcom 2 on switch / PC /PS5 / XB money left all over the table come on people
@Alztru A majority of the audience who bought those games for Switch bought it for the portable or local tournament multiplay with friends. Online was never the priority, it's just an extra inclusion which is why only 4 of the 12 SF games had online play.
I still play Streetfighter V CE.
Best streetfighter game ever, love that game.
Ultra IV on Switch and a new TE2 for Switch please! Can’t think of anything the other systems could need.
Honestly, a remaster similar to what they did with II a while back (new characters, stages and graphics) applied to the Alpha Games would be a fine enough collection.
I say Street Fighter 6 will be announced this year. Capcom honestly needs to take another crack at an anniversary collection because I feel the 30th anniversary game was a bit of a letdown.
@Specter_of-the_OLED What sort of lame excuse is that? The online play was terrible. End of. I have other fighting games on Switch like MK11, Power Rangers, Naruto, Fantasy Strike and Smash, and 20th Anniversary has the absolute worst online gameplay of all of them. And Capcom and SF is much bigger than most of the others and yet they can't get online right. They had online play for the 4 most popular games (even though I would rather have had Alpha 2 instead of 3) and you think that that shows they didn't really have online in mind? It's no wonder why the game was going on sale regularly not long after if it was released. If that game was released with decent online and cross play, I bet the lobbies would still be very active even today but instead most people have already forgotten about it.
If SF VI comes to a Nintendo console, I'll drink 750ml of whiskey on the day it's announced.
That's how little I believe it's coming to a Nintendo system.
What will be the storyline for SF6 ?
And what characters will be join ?
I'd like to see Street Fighter 4 port to Switch
@Alztru The best kind, you probably don't have many friends or your online connection just sucks hence why no one but you complained.
@Alztru I put in 850+ hours online with the 20th anniversary collection and it's a shame how the shoddiness took away from the experience at times. Obviously I had plenty of good times with it but I also had no signs of stopping. I agree the lobbies would prob be brimming if the overall connection was better, it's basically why I dont go on it anymore. I even tanked my Sf2 turbo ranking (which idgaf about anyway) from disconnecting out of crap connections. Overall positive experience from me but i feel ya
anouncemt of Street Fighter 6 for PS5/PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One e PC at E3 2022?
@Banjo- can’t happen. Sony was involved in the project so it can only be on PlayStation console. But they let Capcom put it on PC
@Giancarlothomaz unless Sony decides to have SF 6 exclusively on PlayStation AGAIN, then yeah we will see at E3
@Blackrosewaifu9000 Street Fighter 5 can’t come to Switch. Sony paid for the game to be developed and therefore they have it exclusively on PlayStation console only
@Magician well, we don’t know if SF 6 will even use the RE engine. There is a chance it won’t though. But if for example is coming out as a cross gen game then it couldn’t be RE engine because the base PS4 and Xbox One RE engine games don’t always hit the 60 fps mark unlike PS5 and Series X/S.
Example: DMC 5 on base PS4 and base Xbox One runs at like 40 to 45 fps, doesn’t hit 60 a lot. RE2R had frame drops too
@blackknight77 I kinda hope to see it too
Since you already did an anniversary collection, there's a perfectly good version of Third Strike on PS360 you can port over...
35 years is big but moving on from SFV is the real celebration.
I would prefer that the next Street Fighter game use the cel shaded visual style, that Arc Systems uses in their fighting games. That would look really stunning. I remember how almost every SF sequel had a distinct graphical change. Personally find SF V’s graphics too similar to IV and just boring looking.
“ It's not yet clear whether a theoretical 'Street Fighter VI' is in development...”
They’ve said it is multiple times, plus it’s in the leaked documents.
Does anyone check these articles before they get posted!?!?
Its a shame that Nintendo Life always forgets about Ultra Street Fighter II in these articles about SF and Capcom and never mentions it. The version of SF4 that came out on the 3DS was NOT the last new Street Fighter to be released on a Nintendo console. The last new SF release to be on a Nintendo console was Ultra Street Fighter II, and that game was a Switch exclusive. The 30th Anniversary collection, while fun, should have been built with better net code. Ultra Street Fighter II has superior online connections compared to the 30th collection and is the best way to play online SF on the Switch. And yet, it is always forgotten in these articles.
Are the SF games on Capcom Arcade Stadium worth it?
@Bionicman08 If you are into the games for the single player experience, then yes. You can speed up, slow down, or even rewind the game so you can take back any hits the CPU gets on you. You can play both the US and Japanese version of the games and see the differences (such as the Japanese version of Super Turbo being much easier compared to the insane difficulty of the US version), and you can complete arcade high score challenges to get on the online high score board.
Well that's cool. Happy 35th Street Fighter.
@anoyonmus Sony didn't pay Capcom for development as you said in one of your comments, they only paid for part of the marketing and tournaments costs.
@Banjo-
Lol if they bring streetfighter V with all DLC packed in. I will double dip for full price easily. Best streetfighter game ever.
30th anniversary collection was just too hard even on easy, for the casual player, the enemy is intentionally cheap, they should have changed the arcade difficulty as it's a steep learning curve for an casual SF fan like myself
@dleec8 is ultra street fighter 2 worth it on switch. Does it run good on switch?
@Banjo- Capcom themselves said Street Fighter 5 won't come to other consoles.
Since they said it themselves, best to leave it alone because Street Fighter 5 will never come to another console.
And besides, if they were to put it on other consoles, they would have done it by now or earlier.
https://www.techtimes.com/articles/59816/20150611/capcom-confirms-that-street-fighter-v-will-never-be-on-xbox-one.htm
@Magician yeah, SF 6 will be on Xbox, Playstation and PC.
It won't come to Switch. I know that FOR SURE.
@anoyonmus I would say if you are a fan of Street Fighter it is definitely worth it. It has all the characters from Super Turbo including Akuma and 2 bonus characters, you can use either classic graphics and sound or the HD graphics and new sound, it has normal arcade mode and buddy mode where you can fight 2v1 with powered up boss characters, and the online is IMO pretty good as well. You can mess around with a color editor and make custom colored characters too.
@anoyonmus That doesn't mean that they won't in the future or other consoles. Seriously, do you believe what you're saying? That Capcom won't ever re-release SFV on other consoles?
@The-Chosen-one Yep I have it on PS4 and I would also buy a definitive edition on Series X. Gameplay is superb.
@Banjo- they would re-release it on other consoles. On another PlayStation console after PS5 lol.
And yes, they won’t. They made it clear that Xbox One won’t get the game
@dleec8 I bought USF2 at launch, and I still play it! Lots of other folks do, too; I rarely have to wait more than a minute or two for an online match.
@DonkeyKongBigBoy I'm hardly a hardcore player myself, but my impression is that with the exception of the very first SF in the collection, there is a kind of a method to the seeming madness. Blocking and moving around always help lots.
@anoyonmus You are naive. It will be re-released on all platforms eventually. I didn't say last-gen platforms, that ship has sailed. It's their property and that's what they have been doing since the NES era.
@Banjo- don’t ask about it. It’s not happening. Get a PlayStation or PC if you want to play it.
No need for insults
@anoyonmus I have a PS4, a PC and the game. I didn't insult you. I ask for whatever I want. Grow up.
