So, things have gone a bit quiet with the Metroid franchise. Metroid: Other M divided fans on the Wii, 3DS ambassadors received a copy of Game Boy Advance title Metroid Fusion, and the IP made an appearance in Nintendo Land. None of those have quite satisfied fans in recent years, it's safe to assume.
While Nintendo's no doubt considering its next move with the series, fans will continue to pay homage in various ways through art, music and good-old YouTube videos. A user on the latter, DaveRapoza, has produced a short animation based on Super Metroid, and it's certainly eye-catching. The prospect of this being a series rather than a short experiment in animation is certainly going onto the wishlist here at Nintendo Life HQ.

EPIC. Love the music
I want another metroid other m game on the 3ds without the first person mode and long cutscenes.
That animated video was really nice. I certainly would that if it was an animated TV show. I could see it fitting in nicely on Cartoon Network. It has a Samurai Jack vibe to it.
I'd like to see both a Sin and Punishment and Metroid game on the 3DS. In regards to Metroid, I'd really like to see a 2.5D Metroid Other M title on the 3DS.
Love the Heavy Metal look.
wow.. this is like a show out of the 80's! Sir, if i had the Money, i'd Fund you and release it for free.
@Dyopri, perhaps Dave Rapoza could kickstarter fund this with Nintendo's approval?
So sweet.
Wow, this is really good.
Impressive animation is impressive
I was unimpressed. The frame rate was super low and too many shortcuts were taken.
Best video game theme ever.
Haha, OMG. I went to high school with this guy.
The lighting was really cool towards the end. I'm an animator as well--a vector animator. I have a lot of respect for frame by frame animators, especially when the art is this detailed.
This is really cool.
yeah awesome XD
Is that supposed to be Kraid?
I like the art style and the approach. Staging is okay. The animation and poses need much work, though. Shooting from the hip is VERY unlike Samus and completely silly for instance. Not a very feminine look for Samus under the visor either. Without sound effects or music that matches the situation it just feels like a work in progress.
Still, I bet that was fun to make.
I need dis. To be a full length series.
It's short and sweet.
Very very nice!
I've said this before and I'll say it again. Metroid has so much potential. It could be Nintendo's awesome, action-packed, cinematic, dare I say it, "mature" series. It's such an amazing IP, but it's like they just don't know what to do with it. The overwhelming response from things like this is all the proof they need.
Pretty cool for what it is. I don't find the lack of a talking Samus disturbing.
Metroid needs a comeback now Nintendo. Three, going on four years without a new entry is long enough. You've released more ZELDA games in a shorter timespan now!
@NorthLightSuplx Replace "3DS" with "Wii U"...
And "Other M" with "Prime" and it's a deal.
Metroid Enemies Within is forgotten already...I do love the short, but the fan in me had to point out the lack of mention.
Not great but I like all the attention Metroid games have been getting recently.
Metroid: Other M satisfied me but I'm not the biggest Metroid fan. Can't really understand all the hate towards an exceptionally good game.
This would be a good kickstarter project for sure and would fund it or as much as i could and would love to see it seeing how i am a HUGE metroid fan ever since the original Metroid. As for all the hate on Other M i just don't understand as it is a great game and while not like the prime series which is why is great as it's different but also picks up after super metroid the game was well made and different and unless you don't like a challenge that is the only complaint i could see even though isn't no harder then any other metroid game.I do think we will see a new metroid at some point next year on Wii U just give it time.
Pretty nice!
