@Yoshis95 the problem with that comparison is that pokemon and yokai watch are two completely different series that somewhat compete with each other
it's more like if they announced that a new pokemon game would be coming out soon and someone said "I hate the regular pokemon games so i won't be getting this, but i am looking forward to seeing if they ever end up localizing the pikachu detective game"
it's not like this artbook is competing with awakening's, it has literally the same topic and audience, that being fire emblem
presumably anyone looking at this at all has some interest in fire emblem, so it's not like no one else here would be interested in that (and as I said, I wasn't aware of it and i'm glad i know of it now)

@Lucina Oh come on now, if anyone's being a douchebag right now, it's you. The guy just said that he didn't want to buy the book because he didn't like the game and posted another artbook that he said he was interested in. It's still relevant and tells people (including myself) about another cool artbook similar to this that they might be interested in (and I certainly am, since it's for one of my favorite games). If you don't agree with the guy's comment, then just ignore it instead of calling him a douchebag and an "elitist tool".

@BranJ0 Haven't played Birthright but as someone who's played quite a few Fire Emblem games and followed the game up until its release I can say that the story is... quite disappointing, to be honest. Fire Emblem stories are almost never particularly great (Path of Radiance's story was decent I suppose) but for the most part they're all the same level of inoffensively bland. I've read through a significant amount of Birthright's script and story and it seems to be on the same level as most other Fire Emblem games. However, while they tried to do something unique for Conquest, I can't help but feel it was a fair bit worse than the usual Fire Emblem story. Without spoiling anything, I can say that the characters just sort of all seem to act very irrationally and the main character just came off as a very badly written and annoying protagonist who never really does much actually good in the story. The plot twists also all seemed rather ridiculous, and the villain lacked any real interesting motivation. The gameplay of Conquest is pretty fun, but I wouldn't recommend either one of them for the story. It does fix most of Awakening's problems such as the pointless subplots being thrown in and not having a real consistent storyline or villain, but I feel like the story still managed to be even worse.

@Nintendian Does it get Snake Eater running any better? I love the original game and considered getting the 3DS version, since it's pretty cheap, but the framerate in the demo I played was godawful. Getting it running at even 30 fps on 3DS would be pretty incredible.

@Patriplexity Nah, smashing it with a hammer probably wouldn't work either. We all know how stable a 3DS is after all these updates.

@abbyhitter It's a bit ridiculous to say that this game is "completely unplayable" because it doesn't have features a newer game doesn't have. The only legitimate criticism there is "unbalanced". Aside from that is just things introduced in newer games. And that's a ridiculous thing to judge a game by. By that logic, the first entry of every game series is terrible.

Re: The Art of Fire Emblem: Awakening Releases in North America in Summer 2016

Huh, that's... a pretty interesting idea. Is this just Knights of Iris in English, or is it something new entirely? Either way, I might consider picking it up if I can find it. I'm not even a big fan of the game itself or its artwork; it's probably my second or third least favorite of the series, but the amount of content in this book seems pretty good. Maybe I'll wait until it's cheaper, although 40 dollars seems like a decent price if you're a big fan of the game. I'm not myself, but I still might pick it up when it's around, say, 20 dollars.

Re: Review: Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon (3DS)

8tM

@BlatantlyHeroic The thing is, not everyone thought that about those games. I had the exact same problem with Explorers of Sky that seems to be mentioned here, that being the tedious and not particularly varying gameplay. I was curious whether or not that was changed, and it doesn't seem to be.

Re: Pre-Orders Open for the Cute But Deadly Marth Nendoroid

8tM

@AVahne Well, in the SNES version, he carries the Fire Emblem around from the moment he gets it, I guess for luck. And it's often shown as being used as an actual shield, so he CAN use it. In the remake it even increases all his stats, so there is some benefit to him carrying it.
@Bat-Moves98 The thing is, Link (including his other versions) is the only character in Smash who actually carries a shield. So it's something unique to him.

Re: Review: Paper Mario (Wii U eShop / Nintendo 64)

8tM

@joemama93 Can you explain why this game is not a "true nintendo game" instead of just saying that my long recommendation is wrong? I played this game and loved it, I have numerous friends who have played this game and loved it, and I can't just accept a comment like that without hearing you elaborate on it in any way.

Re: Review: Paper Mario (Wii U eShop / Nintendo 64)

Alright, so if anyone here is considering getting this game but isn't sure, buy it it's absolutely magnificent. I've played through it all the way through and I loved every second of it (well, aside from Sushi. Screw Sushi. But that was short so it doesn't matter). Some things about it aren't quite as good as the sequel, which is practically a remake, but it's still a great game in its own right. Even though that game might have things like the train and the Glitz Pit, this one has some great chapters like the Shy Guy Toybox, and the chapter with Tubba Blubba, one of my personal favorites from the series. You might not get into it too easily since the beginning is somewhat boring, but the moment you get the item from Twink, you'll be having a great time from beginning to end. Highly recommend this one.

@andyg1971 @Kraylis @DarthNocturnal
Just to name a few things
One of the main characters has blue hair, wields a rapier, and has an outfit similar to most Fire Emblem lords. That's a relationship not only similar to the characters, but to the gameplay as well, since only Lord characters can wield rapiers. Also he looks like Prince Marth. There is probably some relationship.
Another character has long blue hair, has a spear, and rides a Pegasus. This clearly confirms that Pegasus Knights will appear and use their same signature weapon. In addition to this, that desciption basically fits Caeda perfectly. There's probably some relationship there, too.
Also Chrom with a mask! Yay!
Also singer person who looks a lot like Lyn! Yay!
Archer class and some variation on Cavalier are clearly shown. The game is very clearly going to be using the Fire Emblem class system.
Also there's Tiki. Not a similar character, that IS Tiki. It looks exactly like her, and there are posters saying "Tiki" on them.
So yeah, the game is definitely Fire Emblem in numerous ways.
Also there are a few similarities I didn't mention how the cavalier guy vaguely resembles Cain but that's mainly just because red hair cavalier

Re: Video: Check Out Every Fire Emblem Intro So Far, From NES to Current Day

8tM

Okay, I know people like to pretend it doesn't exist because there's only about 5 people who liked it, but where's Shadow Dragon? It had possibly the best rendition of the Fire Emblem theme in the series, it really should've been here. Also I fully admit to being one of those 5 people.
My favorite intro is probably Thracia 776, oddly enough. I just really like the story of Leif being told there. It really made me actually want to sit through the intro, whereas a lot of the other ones just made me want to skip them a few seconds in. I haven't actually played much of the game because difficult, but it's still cool.
@ZurrrrBlattTron
Do you mean the intro? I'm not quite sure if it would be the best one, but it's definitely up there. If you mean the actual game, that's veeeery subjective and you can't really call just one the "best".
@AVahne
Huh, that's not the most popular choice, but I can understand why that might be your favorite in the series. I didn't actually finish it myself, in fact I only started playing it fairly recently, but there's a lot to like in it, with the gameplay, the characters, the supports, and even the battle animations.

Re: Gallery: Gaze Upon Fire Emblem Cipher, the New Card Game Unlikely to Escape Japan

8tM

It's a cool idea, and I'd get a lot just for the artwork but ummmm...
A lot of them look very strange. I mean, Tiki, Linde, and the Marth card with a 1 in the corner all look great, but a lot of the others just look wrong. Marth with a 2 in the corner looks extremely strange, Pegasus Knight to the right of him I can't even tell if that's Caeda or Catria, and Navarre looks the absolute worst. Still, I'd really like to see more of these, and I would love to see cards of some other characters like Xane, Lilina, Sigurd, and Roy. Yes those are my biggest picks don't judge me.
Also, you can check fecipher.jp to see a few more cards.

Re: Nintendo Reveals the Final Club Nintendo Elite Rewards

8tM

I'm honestly extremely disappointed by the 3DS rewards. I own every single one of them that even vaguely interests me aside from Animal Crossing, and that's still not too high on my list of games I want to get. The only 3DS reward I really care about is Mario Deluxe, and that costs like...5 dollars?

Re: Modder Makes Chrom Playable in Super Smash Bros. Brawl

8tM

@Captain_Gonru I honestly do see where you're coming from with that. In fact, I thought something along the same lines when I heard Robin was announced, and I wasn't expecting him to be in for the same reason. For a mage character, though, I think Alvis would be a good fit. Not only is he a mage, but he would also be a good villain representative, since Fire Emblem doesn't have one of those in Smash Bros. Although, he hasn't been in a game for years and therefore basically has no chance, and even if he did the only way he would get in is if Sigurd or Seliph was.

Re: Modder Makes Chrom Playable in Super Smash Bros. Brawl

8tM

@AVahne The one I was thinking of was actually Sigurd. I'd love to see him in Smash Bros., but there's the minor problem of the fact that he's always riding a horse, and never gets off of it in game, since he starts off in that class, and the dismount command was removed for some reason. It would be kinda ridiculous if he was riding a horse, so I suppose the closest character we can get it Seliph, although at this point there's not really much unique they can do with either of them.

Re: Modder Makes Chrom Playable in Super Smash Bros. Brawl

8tM

@Ducked He doesn't really have anything unique to stand out among the other swordsmen, and we already have a few reps from Fire Emblem. Would kinda be a pointless decision. Robin was a much better choice, since we hadn't seen a Mage represented in Smash Bros. yet. This isn't even mentioning that Chrom is basically the most boring and forgettable Lord, although I suppose that's not as important.

Re: Modder Makes Chrom Playable in Super Smash Bros. Brawl

8tM

@AVahne Ehhhh
Whether or not he's more forgettable than Marth is kinda debatable. I've heard more people say that Marth is more forgettable, although I personally liked Marth a lot more than Chrom. But yeah, it kinda sucks that they chose to do Chrom of all characters, although if my favorite lord was in instead...well that would look kinda ridiculous. You can probably guess who it is from that.
