Re: Super Grand Prix Mode Is Coming to Super Bomberman R

3DiddyKong

I freakin' love that they're continuing to support this game so strongly, It's so different now then it was at launch, and I wish more folks would give it a try,

As a game truth be told Bomberman has more depth than say Mario Kart, both are really simple and have a balance of luck and skill but in Bomberman the skill factor outweighs the luck, and it's incredibly engaging at a high level, I can play it for hours on end with the right group or opponents.

Mario Kart does have greater production values though, and even if it's ultimately just as simple as Bomberman it can mask that a lot easier.

This game has been nothing but a good time since ver 1.3, It's an essential multiplayer game for the system if you ask me.

Re: Super Grand Prix Mode Is Coming to Super Bomberman R

3DiddyKong

@Hughesy Bomberman Live had 1 playable character in 8 colors, as opposed to this games 20. It had 8 stages in comparison to this games 28, It had no team battles, story mode, 8 person local multiplayer or extra content to unlock beyond weird looking costumes.

And comparatively to Bomberman R or any Hudson developed Bomberman that released in the prior two Generations and afterwards, it was lacking from a gameplay standpoint with loose controls for movement and input lag for several actions like kicking, punching and throwing, In a game about precision this was annoying to no end.

As of the latest version Bomberman Live doesn't have as much content as Bomberman R and it could be argued that it never did, I really wish people would go back and play it and then compare it to this game or gems like Saturn Bomberman, and Bomberman Generation you'll quickly realize it was only 10 bucks because it was weak compared to every entry developed by Hudson and lacked the depth and fun of those games.

Re: Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 Outed By Korean Rating, Nintendo Release Uncertain

3DiddyKong

@Tempestryke With you on the Mega Man Battle Network and Mega Man Star Force collections idea, those games actually have something to gain from collection releases, and haven't had them before.

In Both series' case could allow Overseas players to access much of the Japanese exclusive content, In Battle Networks case it'd be a great excuse to localize the DS enhanced port off BN1, Operate Shooting Star, and in Star Force's case the series could undergo a big resolution boost(DS games are much prettier when this happens.) The battles could go from 30 to 60 fps, and they could bring back the Online multiplayer systems and features, as well as all the wi-fi events that were unfortunately lost to the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection shutdown of 2014.

There's plenty of artwork in both series, and the gameplay in those games is so diverse that there are several creative ways they could go about more modes in the style of challenges, boss rushes, survival etc.

Collections for those two series' NEED to happen eventually.

Re: Video: The Top Five Nintendo Switch Co-Op Games So Far

3DiddyKong

@DCorp Super Bomberman R is a pretty good game actually, it's just a little light on content especially when compared to past Bomberman entries, Given how safe the game plays it, it should have done all it could to make the most out of the classic Bomberman gameplay, hopefully Konami continues adding to the game beyond the upcoming DLC, the potential is certainly there.

Btw I'm one of those weirdos who really likes having story modes in Bomberman games, hated that the last few north american titles were Vs only, and despite what people say, Live and Ultra felt shoddy and cheap compared to most entries in the series, it was competent and justified by it's price, but I'd rather pay at least 40 bucks for Bomberman R, gameplay is tighter, and it's more visually appealing doesn't come off as "soulless" like Live and Ultra do.

Re: Super Bomberman R's Retail Price Has Finally Been Confirmed

3DiddyKong

@Jayvir Generation wasn't 20 bucks at launch, it was $40.00 and basically had a healthy amount of content, moreso than the standard of games from that generation.

Jetters was $20.00 because it was more of the same for the most part, and came out two years later, but it had more content than generation. That game honestly was a steal at 20 bucks, it would've been fine at twice that.

Re: Super Bomberman R's Retail Price Has Finally Been Confirmed

3DiddyKong

I'm just gonna order this game from Amazon Prime, the 20% off discount will bring the game down to 42 bucks which is something I can work with, I hope this does well because I really want to see more Bomberman in the future, but judging from the reactions it's not gonna be a pretty launch.

Re: Super Bomberman R's Price Still Has Yet to Be Finalized

3DiddyKong

I hate how people act like a Bomberman game can't be justified at full price, While I agree Super Bomberman R shouldn't be full price, (it should be $39.99) I don't think it's impossible to make a Bomberman game worthy of full price, If there is a Bomberman game with the scale or size of something like Bomberman 64, it's sequel, Generation, Jetters etc. the price would be just fine.

Re: Capcom Reaffirms Commitment To Resurrecting Its Vast Catalogue Of "Dormant IP"

3DiddyKong

I'll take Mega Man anything as well as a host of other Capcom franchises(Power Stone, Rival Schools, Darkstalkers, Viewtiful Joe and more etc.) but with Mega Man's 30th anniversary coming up I think a crossover game that unites all the series' would be welcome, and could appeal to fans of all kinds, It could be a mostly original game that simply derives elements from all the series'.
Since the staff for all of the series' are mostly gone, I'm not sure right now is the safest time for Capcom to attempt a traditional game in any series.

I would like to see Capcom make a collection of the Mega Man Star Force series, up the visual resolution and bring back the online features(even expand upon them with the 3DS' internet capabilities.) add art galleries, challenge modes, and replays for PvP, It'd be amazing and I don't think it'd cost too much.
The Star Force trilogy was a bit ahead of it's time in the connectivity regard, and the series itself is great, just dreadfully overlooked and released in a time where people were sick of the constant releases of Mega Man games.

I think a collection would be a great way to let the trilogy shine and introduce it to those who originally missed them.

As a major fan, I want Capcom to do more with Mega Man outside Classic and X, I didn't need another classic collection with the games having been re-released plenty of times over, and I can say the same about the X series(that and the fact that the X series is the most inconsistent when it comes to overall quality)

I'd like to see a collection for Star Force most, and if not that Battle Network, both of those series are more than justified for a collection release.

Re: Video: Looking Back At Metal Slug, Everyone's Favourite Run And Gun Shooter

3DiddyKong

I've been playing this series recently through the PS2 anthology available on PS4.

The first 3 games are fantastic and only get better with each installment, while 4 is a completely competent game it definitely is the low point for the series, 5 & 6 really pick up the pace and deliver the quality action expected, but I just don't find them as remarkable as 1,2/X and 3.

I played 7 way long ago but unfortunately I no longer own that game, I remember it being good though.

Really starting to hope Metal Slug 8 will come one day.

Re: Official 25 Hour Live Stream of Sonic the Hedgehog Games to Raise Money for Charity

3DiddyKong

@SamirMalik Thank you for that, as well as noting the 2 fighting games, Battle is very unique and a lot of fun boasts a lot of modes and arguably the best written storyline in the Sonic Universe, it really deserved a sequel.

Sonic the Fighters is arguably the most mis-understood fighting game on the planet, everyone judges it for it's weak AI(On Normal too.) and claims all you do is mash, but then immediately cry about how hard Metal Sonic is, I however always found StF incredibly fun and charming as a kid, it had nice character models that animate very well even to this day, the slapstick presentation and Classic Sonic feel were great, and I always thought the games mechanics showed promise and had potential I bought the PS3 version and joined a player lobby and got my ass kicked hard by a bunch of people, it showed me just how intense the game could really get, so I befriended them and we all had several play sessions and we learned the game together, mashing will get you nowhere in StF against someone who knows the game especially because most punch strings can be dodged out of and punished accordingly, StF has some really unique mechanics with it's hyper mode, variable techs, barriers and 3 button set-up, it's my favorite 3D Fighter of All-Time behind Project Justice by Capcom.

If anyone's interested in hearing more about StF here's two video links, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kqFYIssBGL0(StF can be competitive.)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdpwDA6J_vM (StF player tutorial features mechanics often unknown to most players.)

The guy who made these was a good friend of mine back when we still played so if you like the videos please support him with a thumbs up, and if anyone's curious about learning feel free to reply, I don't play StF often anymore but I'm always willing to help others learn the game.

Re: Writer Of Divisive New Mega Man Cartoon Asks Fans To Give It A Chance

3DiddyKong

@Rei you shouldn't say the spin-offs like .EXE aren't Rockman games, they very much are, all the key elements that make Mega Man stand out among other platformers are represented in the RPG games in an appropriate form, the setting is still the future that has progressed through technological advancements, you still control a blue character with a helmet and an arm cannon, you still take the weapons of your defeated opponents and use them to exploit the weaknesses of other enemies, Your enemies themselves are still virtually just like you only with elemental powers(Classic MM is a blank Robot Master who battles elemental Robot Masters, .EXE is a blank Net Navi who battles elemental Net Navis, Star Force Mega Man, is a blank EM wave being who battles elemental EM wave beings. etc.)
The games themselves still emphasize things the Mega Man platformers emphasize, like pattern recognition, weapon stealing, finding health upgrades(like MMX), Stages themed after a boss that include obstacles and enemies that also follow the theme, tight reflexes are also needed especially when battling the secret bosses, and the use of special weapons to create a style of non-linear combat was also something the games emphasized.

My point is the RPGs were very much Mega Man, and I'm not just saying this, developer Interviews and commentary from the complete works books have long revealed this, although I can see the similarities in design simply by playing the games.

I also forgot to mention they literally have some of the most creative game design I've ever seen in a video game, seriously the battle system in both .EXE and Star Force are incredible, they have a ton of depth, yet remain easily accessible(Star Force especially.) I've love another game in those series' Maybe not immediately, Mega Man needs to get back to form first, but later on definitely.

The difference between those games and this new Mega Man is that those games knew what they wanted to be, an alternate take on Mega Man with more of a collection RPG/TCG atmosphere, they still remember the sources they based the new universes on(lots of nods to older characters, elements and even mechanics.) and pulled off what they were trying to do with flying colors.

You don't gotta like the RPG games, but saying they aren't Mega Man just seems inaccurate.

Anyways, this cartoon sounds like it wants to be strictly classic Mega Man, but not as we know the Classic Mega Man which almost kills the point, it sounds way too much like the old Dreamwave Mega Man comic which wasn't very good.

I'll give it a chance though, I was never against it, and I don't actually hate the design or mind that Mega Man was redesigned in the first place, after all when you've seen so many iterations of the character it doesn't exactly come off as a surprise to see another take on the blue hero, I just hope the art style doesn't stay this ugly looking.

Re: Nintendo Download: 10th March (North America)

3DiddyKong

Glad to see Battle Network 6, The BN series as a whole is great so anyone who hasn't played one should really give them a try.

Now I'm hoping Capcom will still do Mega May this year, I'd love to play the Mega Man Star Force series and the Mega Man ZX series on the big screen.

Re: The Original Mega Man Gets a Fresh Coat of Paint with Mega Man Redux

3DiddyKong

@Sticker @MitchVogel
Not that I necessarily disagree with you guys about the collection feeling a bit lazy or unfinished, but I am aware that Capcom only included 1-6 because Digital Eclipses new engine was only made to run NES games, making the engine run NES, SNES, and Playstation sounds fairly complicated for something that aimed for accurate performance to the original systems these games were released for.

Mega Man 9 and Mega Man 10 look like NES games, but they aren't and they weren't developed with the same hardware as MM1-6 so adding faithful ports of those would've been yet another complication.

Personally I wish Capcom would consider releasing collections for the Mega Man Star Force, Battle Network, and Legends series, That doesn't really sound too hard because every entry in those series' run on the same hardware.

and better yet those games haven't been archived in the past, so existing fans would have more reason to invest in those, and curious newer fans could try out the entirety of some of Mega Man's sub series' for the price of one.

I can't Imagine any of these would be too expensive to make either.

Re: Talking Point: Pokémon and Mega Man Show Us Extremes of Nostalgia's Value

3DiddyKong

I'll be picking up my Legacy Collection collectors edition tomorrow, but honestly If there's a new Mega Man collection I'd like to see from Capcom, I'd want a compilation of the Mega Man Star Force games, They're heavily underrated I dare say the most underrated Mega Man series, and there's so much that could be done for a compilation, If they brought back the online multiplayer from those games in a new compilation I would pre-order in a heart beat, seriously those games had a crap ton of depth and content and I enjoyed every bit of them.

Re: Talking Point: Pokémon and Mega Man Show Us Extremes of Nostalgia's Value

3DiddyKong

@KrakenSoup The last Classic series Mega Man to be released before MM9 in 2008 was Mega Man Powered-Up in 2006 and before that Capcom released Mega Man & Bass for GBA in 2003 and Mega Man Anniversary Collection in 2004, Classic Mega Man took some breaks but it was never as gone as people made it out to be, and while those games weren't released, We got Mega Man Battle Network , Star Force, X, Zero, and ZX games to hold us over.

Re: Nintendo Download: 14th January (Europe)

3DiddyKong

Mega Man games are fantastic, The download week is always considered great for me if Mega Man shows up.

I'm excited to see if the Mega Man Star Force series and the Mega Man ZX games will arrive on the Eshop. Star Force 3 Never got an official Euro release so VC would be a great place for people to experience one of the finest Mega Man games of all time, if they missed out on it initially.

Re: An Enhanced Version of River City Ransom is Being Made for 3DS

3DiddyKong

@Djreisat There was a Kunio game that was localized for PS3 and Steam recently this year called River City Super Sports Challenge: All-Stars Special. The release was extremely quiet though as if they didn't want it to sell. Still hoping to see this and some other Kunio games get localized, especially since Arc. System works themselves said they wanted to bring more of the Kunio-kun property to the west, earlier this year.

Re: Preview: Crossing Over With Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam Bros.

3DiddyKong

@VanillaLake Never heard of Baten Kaitos, so I wouldn't know, I just said Mega Man because i'm used to that term from Mega Man Star Force and the character cards kind of remind me of the Mega and Giga class cards where a boss character would be summoned to unleash a powerful attack on the enemy.
