Phew! Not only has Capcom confirmed a new Mega Man game and the launch of two 8-bit Mega Man collections on Switch, it has also revealed that all of the entries in the popular Mega Man X sub-series are also coming to Nintendo's hybrid console.
All eight 'X' games will be coming to the Switch in Summer 2018, alongside releases on the PS4, Xbox One and PC.
We'll be getting more info on this particular collection in the coming months, but how's that for a huge helping of Mega Man goodness? And you thought Capcom had forgotten about the Blue Bomber!

Never payed any of these games so maybe this time...
Playing 2.5 D Megaman games is better on Nintendo Switch.
Easy and simple.
Good! I’m very interested in these X series. Actually like them more than main series.
Great to see a new game and all the old games on Switch, but I do wonder if 19 Mega Man games in a year on one console may be a widdly bit overkill?
Not much of a Megaman fan but X4 and X6 have always intrigued me. Former for the hilarious voice acting and cutscenes and latter for the infamy and BS, and the godtier soundtrack. Seriously the soundtrack in X6 is amazing.
Time to play X7 on the toliet... which is where it belongs.
YES! I have always like the X series! And Axl is my main man.... Haha even if it wasn't the best game, still loved it
Haven't played any of the X games. Looking forward to it. Also the new one. 2018 is on the right track!
Well guess it's time to buy all the Mega Man games including (if it turns out good) the brand new game. No excuses now.
Have them all on GameCube, but will probably double dip for portability sake.
From what I've heard, Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 & 2 have input lags and other 'faults'. Have steared away from the Steam versions because of this, and I'm worried about the X emulation also. Hopefully this can be fixed before the Switch release, but I'll wait for reviews. If they're good, I have to get both these and the X-series on Switch.
As for 11, I'll get it - just because...
My mind is blown. I swear I joked about Mega Man 11 as well as Capcom giving us ALL original series Mega Man's and MMX1-8 on another thread and called them longshots. But Capcom has actually made a fool out of me, and I couldn't be ANY the happier. I will FINALLY get to play MMX7 and X8 at long last; The ONLY Mega Man main timeline games I hadn't played. Now I just need to know if they will be distributed as one collection or separate, but I'm betting on the former. I'm impressed, Capcom... still don't forgive you for Monster Hunter, but I will accept this as an apology. Now, how about Mega Man Legends 1 and 2?
Great news!
MegaMan Zero Collections + Zx Advent on the Switch will be great next! Those games needs more love
Particularly curious on how they plan on releasing these. The lack of the word collection in their description makes me think they might take the “trickling” approach.
Hope I’m wrong.
As much as I like the first X games, I'll pass.
The X colleciton on Gamecube/PS2/Xbox should be enough.
Never liked X7 & X8.
@MeloMan "Now, how about Mega Man Legends 1 and 2?"
Now that would be awesome. Especially if the added The Misadventures of Tron Bonne as a bonus.
That’s a lotta mega man.
I actually have that X collection game on PS2 still. Never played X7 and X8, I heard those two weren’t that great. I’ll probably end up getting this on Switch.
Tough play without a D-pad.
Some of you guys never playing the X games... wow! Go play the first Mega Man X on New 3DS, Wii or Wii U, or SNES Classic, or... ar matey! Just go play it. One of my very top favorite Super NES games, nevermind my favorite Mega Man aside from 3 on NES and V on Super Gameboy.
Now I can have X4 on the go...and I finally get to play X8! X7 also, but nobody likes that one, so I'll play it once since it's a Mega Man game, but I doubt I'll enjoy that one.
Also, I've been wanting Mega Man 9 and 10 on a handheld for a long time, and we're finally getting that now.
So that's two more than the X Collection already on PS2 and GameCube.
Well, X7 seems to be one of the most panned sequels (even before the AVGN video) and X8... I'm not sure, it's at least... better than X7?
But I guess it's not counting the RPG spin-off on the previous two consoles, though.
Ok Nintendo. With all of these 8 and 16 bit treasures coming out, please make a joy con with a d-pad!
I’ve always wanted to finish up X4 and 5 on the go! Thank you Capcom!!😭😭😭😭😭
2018 is gonna be good for Mega Man fans.
OMG, the Switch just keeps taking my money!
@MrGawain The Switch wouldn't have it any other way it seems. It's either a lot of games or none at all
Not sure this is for me, but I remember playing Command Mission once (the odd one out), and as far as memory serves, I think i actually enjoyed it quite a bit - at least for the short time I was playing. If this were to be part of the collection (doubtful I guess), I might be inclined to pick it up at some point. I mean, potentially I might pick it up anyways, but that would definitely be a plus for me. Nice to see Capcom finally showing the blue bomber and the Switch some real love.
@WaveBoy X2 would be my favorite too, if it were not for the need to collect all Zero parts quick or else they disappear. That has always bothered me, because since it's random on which stage they'll appear, chances are it'll mess up your preferred boss order. For that reason my all-time favorite will always be the original X.
Just being able to play all these mega man games on switch is making me foam at the mouth. Plz don’t make me wait too long!!!
The first X game, and both other SNES entries, are truly great. By the time the series got to the PS2, however, it was utter dross. Mega Man X7 is one of the biggest disappointments of my gaming life.
The fact they decided to mar the tried-and-true, pristine gameplay loop with endless skippable cutscenes was the writing on the wall, as early as the PSone entries.
Still, I'm getting this. There's more than enough great moments to salvage in the X series, even though the aforementioned problems mean it doesn't really hold a candle to the original series in my opinion.
Damn- while I understand that the first 2 Collections is Capcom playing catch up on the Switch, why is this collection 7-8 months away?? Strange....🤔😯
I would love a Battle Network collection.
"8-bit Mega Man collections"? How are 7 and 8 8-bit? And technically 9 and 10 aren't 8-bit either, they just look like it.
Anyway, I might get this... I only beat the first X, and played some of X2, but I gotta say, I like the classic series more. I mean MUCH more.
Also in thinking of it further, the more I see these classic games released on Switch independently of Nintendo’s forthcoming classic service, the harder it is for me to imagine exactly what that service will offer...🤔
@8-Bit_Zorldo they could do classic NES and SNES themed joycon
@Krisi I also enjoy the classic series more but would buy collection 2 just for mega man 9! 9 feels like a direct sequel to mm2 or mm3.
I didn't get a chance to finish both X3 and X4, so I stopped there. The boss name screw ups also dampened my giddiness. Even though I own the GameCube collection, I was never inspired to go back to beat them.
With X7 and X8 now officially in this collection and presuming an HD fix, I'm inspired to own it and commit to beating them all and on a pseudo portable Nintendo system too! Physical copy, please!
Btw, I remember playing the first level of X6 onceand thinking how incredibly hard it was 😳😕
It worries me that Capcom did NOT say they were a collection, merely that they were coming to consoles.
@Daruncic
They'll be a Collection... just split into 2 like the Legacy Collection 😉
4 separate games to have all of them, 5 if you count MM11... instead of doing one master collection for the main series, one master collection for the X series, and a separate release for MM11. Which, I wonder, will it be getting a physical release?
@Daruncic yep. they never said it is a collection. they only said that all X games are coming.
@JaxonH you can't know that. they released all NES games separately on 3DS before they released the collection.
@KingMike You also had to realize that the PS2 and GameCube collection also had that one Mega Man racing game in there too and Mega Man X: Command Mission (which is available as its own separate game) which would not be on this new collection.
Awesome to see this and Dr. Wahwee on the Switch!
So is Command Mission going to be on the collection?
Im actually curious how all 8 X games managed to fit into one collection while Classic needed 2...
Classic: 6 NES, 1 SNES, 1 PS1, 2 "New" ones
X: 3 SNES, 3 PS1, 2 PS2 titles.
Thats a pretty meaty bunch. But im hyped beyond words.
Im hoping for a physical release on all of these (probably in vein) but ill get them no matter what.
@GameOtaku Nope.
"All 8 X games" refers to all 8 mainline games. And i have no clue what deity we'd have to pray to, to get an "Extras collection" with the GB games, Battle&Chase, the two arcade games, both Legends titles and maybe even Rockboard xD
The two Gamecube megaman anniversary collections are better ports of these old games then the legacy collections are. I'd rather play the Anniversary collections on the Dolphin emulator.
Well I guess the legacy collections are better than nothing on the Switch.
No Command Mission? That's sad if true ;(
Capcom:”Lets just dump all the Mega Man on Switch owners they can handle. They’ll shut up about Monster Hunter World.”
Just shut up and pour it on me. Mega Man X ftw.
This is awesome the Mega Man X series is the best!
@rushiosan The reason why it won't be included is because Mega Man X: Command Mission plays nothing like the other Mega Man X games as it is not a 2D action side-scrolling shooter but a 3D turn based RPG. Basically it is what Mega Man: Network Transmission for GameCube should had been but instead Capcom flip-flop the two. Command Mission became the turn based RPG and Network Transmission became the 2D side-scrolling shooter when originally it should had been the other way around.
Emulation + Digital displays = Input lag.
Input lag + Mega Man = Impossibly frustrating!
The Mega Man games are very much of their era, though it's always nice to have access to classic games in collections like this. Good work Capcom.
Yeah yeah yeah Capcom this is all well and good.............but when do we get Monster Hunter?????????
@manu0
It was just a wisecrack
Whhaaaaaa!!??? Why did I read the WWE 18 post before seeing this!?!? Best news ever!!! And exactly what I wanted announcing at this stream!
@MrGawain nah.
@Axlroselm same here. IMO X is way better than Mega Man.
@Einherjar Even with all 8 games, they could quite easily fit onto a single cartridge. However, unfortunately Capcom worded their announcement very carefully, only stating that all the games were on their way. They never stated if they would be part of a collection, multiple collections, or individual eShop releases.
Since I only have Megaman X 1,2 and 3 (the Snes outings) on Wii vc, this might be worth it!
@NESlover85 I know, right? 9 is easily my favorite game in the whole franchise! I just beat it again yesterday. I pretty much have the whole game memorized by now, room for room. Same with Mega Man 1 and 2.
@shonenjump86
X7 and X8 are among my favorites under X4. X7 gets heat because of its 3D sections but I enjoyed them and still feel it's a great game.
@Krisi 2 beats out 9 for me because of nostalgia. I remember renting 2 many times back in the day.
I am in shock, and am totally stoked!
@roadrunner343 Very true.
But my question was half tongue in cheek anyways ^^
But it is still a rather meaty package, if they go for untouched image emulation rather than making them run natively.
@NESlover85 I never played any Mega Man games until I was like 13 or 14, and that was late GameCube era. I absolutely loved each entry that I played (even II for the Game Boy, which was my first game in the series), and I was all over 9 a few years later when it came out. All I'm saying is that I'm equally nostalgic for both 2 and 9, but I found that 9 has the best soundtrack and weapon balance in the series, which makes it the most enjoyable for me - the difficulty and creativity is perfect in my opinion as well.
I absolutely do love 2, but let's face it, the Metal Blade is broken, and you almost never use half of the weapons. Seriously, Leaf Shield is only useful against Air Man, and in some parts of Crash Man's stage, Atomic Fire is usually only used against the Wood Man rematch and theWily Machine, and I don't really go around throwing Bubble Leads and Air Shooters all the time either.
It also has a great soundtrack (seriously, which Mega Man game doesn't), but honestly my favotire in that department out of the NES games is got to be 4.
CAN'T WAIT!
@Krisi I can agree about the weapons being unbalanced and metal blade being too powerful. I was 4 or 5 when Mega Man 2 came out and it was the first MM game I played. After playing Mario and Duck Hunt to death, MM2 was a breath of fresh air. Having never played a game like it before, my little mind was completly blown away! My Dad would rent it for me on the weekends and during the weekdays I couldn't get the catchy tunes out of my head!
Hoping for a physical release too.
@NESlover85 Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love 2, even with its so-called problems. It's my favorite NES game next to Super Mario Bros 3 and Kirby's Adventure. Heck, I even did a run in Difficult Mode without dying or using any E-tanks!
Awesome X8! Get it? Awesome times 8? No dice? What a drag! - SMB3 kings
