@Bengyman I know right? How dare Budweiser depict America a land of opportunity where anyone who's willing to overcome downfalls and work hard can be successful? Bunch of sjw's there.
@lighteningbolt79 Anecdotal evidence is the same as evidence, right? I mean, It's not like people tend to know people with similar interests or anything.
Cue operation rainfall ppl complaining and acting like that did anything when xenoblade was already being brought over and the last story and Pandora's tower got released by third party publishers and Nintendo wasn't going to.
@night Wow. The age on entitlement is in display with this one. Miiverse is a private space. Freedom of speech means you can't be arrested for what you say. It doesn't mean people have to let you say whatever you want on their private property.
The owners of any social media site have every right to make you leave of they don't want to put up with you anymore. Just as I would have the right to kick you out of my house for spewing the bs you are now. Don't like it, go somewhere else.
@AugustusOxy EXACTLY! The SNES went months after release with only two games at launch. The n64 didn't have any games that weren't one of its two launch games released in na for the entire first year of its life. Nintendo has gotten a LOT better about this crap.
Of course most of the whiners are too young to actually remember these systems.
@CamWFC91 I think that might be the problem. Nintendo announces their biggest stuff in their own terms now and that leaves them little to talk about come e3. The smash stuff and the earthbound announcement would have jazzed up the e3 digital event, for instance. Or of the smtxfe trailer had been premiered here it would have been something to talk about.
They simply don't seem to want to play the game everyone else is playing.
Yeah. I'm calling bs on that statement. Western devs milk franchises WAY more than Japanese devs. There are very few Japanese franchises with literal yearly releases. Ea, ubisoft, and Activision are the real "kings of milking."
Although I find that to be a pretty idiotic way to insult a company anyway. "Ha ha. People enjoy your product so much that they want more of it asap and will pay for it. Therefore that means you're bad for some reason."
No, you do not have a "right" to post ANYTHING on miiverse. Miiverse is not a public space. It is a private website and the owners can stop anyone from saying or posting pics of whatever they feel like.
Freedom of speech just means you can't be areested for saying things. It doesn't mean people have to give you a forum to say it on their private property.
Exactly what I expected from the comments. People who wouldn't buy any remake for any reason whining about how other people spend their own damn money. Congrats, folks.
I agree that the first Mario gave doesn't control the best. Which is to be expected being the first game and all. But its about a million times better than Wonder Boy's. At least it didn't have a power up that actually made the game less controllable.
There actually are a handful of places in the world where that's not true. But that's actually part of why this is so stupid anyway and just helps prove my point. You have to accept the EULA to use the device. All of the devices i mentioned and more. And you just should because it probably isn't legally binding for you anyway unless you live in one of 5 us states.
Do you have an iPod? A smart phone of any kind? Pretty much any commercial computer software? A credit card? Then guess what, you've agreed to far more restrictive Eula's. Nintendo's is way less strict than the ones for any of these things.
And guess what else. Those things don't work if you don't agree to their Eula's either.
If you don't agree to the EULA at time of purchase you are supposed to return it to the store for a refund. The EULA even says so. That's why there's no decline option. Not agreeing to the agreement means you're deciding you don't want the license, which means you can't use it.
This is just more of the dumping on Nintendo for doing things every company does crap that's been going on for at least the last year.
Laughing at the people who think that the Nintendo Seal of Quality ever meant a game was good. It just meant Nintendo allowed it to be officially released.
This seems fine to me. I bought all the pikmin dlc and this seems similar. Inexpensive and gives a tonne new content. (The pikmin dlc wasn't really tonnes of content per se, but getting platinum on all the challenges takes forever so my point stands.)
That is assuming "new adventure map" means what I think it does. From reviews it seems the old adventure map is where most people are spending the bulk of this game.
Maybe ubi would sell more of their multi platform games on the Wii u of the Wii u version wasn't always clearly the absolute worst version of every game and actually had effort put into them to make them good.
Performance issues on games that work fine on less powerful systems, releasing basic patches late if at all, no dlc support, missing modes sometimes for no adequately explained reason especially when those modes are on less powerful systems. It just goes on. And it's not limited to just the AAA releases either. Just dance is mixed for 5.1 on other systems and is stereo on the Wii u.
People really expected them to follow the EU in new movies? A movie has to appeal to the broader audience, not just the hardcore fans who read all the books and comics and stuff.
Besides, star trek having an official canon never stopped its expanded universe from rolling on.
People who are surprised or offended by this don't know thing one about nintendo in the first place.
Nintendo has never been just a video game company. At this time they also make board games, playing cards, and have other more out there stuff like being the owners of the Seattle Mariners.
Their incredibly expensive go board was news on this very site not too long ago, for example.
And they hired new people to do this: they didn't divert their current teams. The hiring blitz they've been on has also been news on this very site.
It never fails. I make completely uncontroversial statements and people decide these statements are fodder to troll and flame me.
My original post about it boils down to three points, none of which are anything anyone ever argued about until now.
1. A large amount of non gamers bought the system for DVD playback.
A completely uncontroversial statement that every single article that ever analyzed the system's success states as a fact.
2. The audience that owned the system had more casuals and non gamers.
Also a completely uncontroversial statement. In fact, it's a "no duh" statement. The larger a systems user base the more casual it usually trends.
3. There's a lot of shovelware on the system.
Also something that was completely unargued about until I said it. Also a "no duh" statement since a system with a more casual audience will have more shovelware.
But people seemed to interpret that as some sort of insult even though the same points also apply to the Wii. Of course if I had said the same thing about the Wii no one would have given a crap, but because it's about their manly, precious ps2 I guess it's a problem.
I expect this bs at gamefaqs. This place is usually less of a craphole.
There's lots more if you want to bother to Google it. The DVD player being a huge part of the ps2's success is considered to be an undisputed fact. Sorry that fact upsets you for some reason.
@MC808 No. It's something that was commonly written about at the time. Here's one article that showed 60% of people in Japan bought it as a DVD player.
@MC808 you don't seem to remember how expensive DVD players were back then. An entry level dedicated DVD player cost 50-100 more than a ps2 did. DVD playback was a core selling point for the system.
And I know 4 people personally who bought it for that purpose and never bought a single game for it. Including my wife.
Those 3000 ps2 games that the other systems didn't get are mostly the kind of cheap cash in shovelware that the Wii would go on to be plagued with. It even had the best selling version of a few mutiplats, soul calibur 2 being the prime example. And had successful this party exclusives and timed exclusives like resident evil 4 and rogue squadron.
Whatever the GameCube's problem was, it wasn't third party support. Do people just back port Wii's third party support problems to justify the GameCube's poor sales or do people who didn't own the console just assume it has no third party games? I'm curious.
