Re: Nintendo Download: 28th July (Europe)

That's cool about the TurboGrafx-16 content - it must mean Nintendo are extending the eshop titles onto NX - otherwise I don't see why it would be worthwhile porting over an entire new system

@NewAdvent Call it instinct! I was looking at the grainy-ness in the dark patches of the photo - that suggests it was taken with a camera with auto iso, like a camera phone. With a high iso, I would expect the screen to look more blown out and overexposed. There's no light spill around where the control sticks are and the lines are far too neat. Try taking a photo of your Wii U gamepad in a dimmy lit room and you'll see what I mean

On the other hand, I could be completely wrong!

Also - other posters are suggesting it's real but it's a mock up made of plasticene. It also seems "unfinished" to me, nintendo hardware designs are usually so much better, even at prototype.

Oh that's so fake. Apart from the fact it doesn't have the prongs/handles you see in the patent, the lighting is all wrong. I wouldn't expect the screen to have such clarity and brightness while the rest of the image is soft, dark and grainy - even with an HDR photo.

How do I know? I'm a cameraman for a living. I know.

Re: Rumour Buster: Let's Clarify Some Issues With Those Recent Nintendo NX Predictions

Let' take these one at a time:

"- It has a wireless HDMI dongle"
It seems like an expensive and rather unnecessary alternative to just having an hdmi cable. I call FALSE.

"- Allegedly the analog controls for movement has small motors in them for full haptic feedback"
It's long overdue for console gaming. But I think for thumb-powered analogue sticks, a resistive stick would cause your thumb to slide off all the time. I don't see it passing the nintendo hardware quality test, unless its a radical redesign of an analogue stick, which would make it very incompatible for third parties. I call FALSE.

"- It can literally Bluetooth synch with everything"
In theory this is already possible with all existing consoles. I think the fact the deNA have collaborated on the Os with nintendo lends this an air of credibility. I don't know about syncing with phone calls but I'm sure mobile cellular data will play a part somehow for the portable. I call TRUE.

"- The closest in terms of "power" it gets to is the Xbox One"
Why not? This has been reported in various guises elsewhere. Fundamentally because it would be suicide to release a closed system midway through a console generation, I'm calling TRUE.

"- Look to Pokemon GO to get the idea of the type of social features that will be in NX that will take multiplayer"
This isn't guesswork, it's already happening. Safe bet, I call TRUE.

- As if "Samsung and the Nintendo 2DS" had a baby
It wouldn't fit Nintendo's design aesthetic up until now. Remember things like 2DS are designed to be dropped about a million times and still work. In terms of hardware, I expect chunky robust plastic that won't break on impact with the floor. In terms of software, I have an inkling that the source is looking at demo versions of the OS, which will be nintendo-fied closer to launch to be more family friendly. On both counts I'm calling FALSE

All in all though, I am about 100 times more excited about NX now! Roll on E3!!!

Agree with most people here - looks like nintendo will update the 3DS this year, and update the Wii U next year, and they'll work together.

I suspect the new handheld will also work with Wii U, owing to Shibata's comment that NX is "something different". i.e., like gameboy and DS they don't officially expect them to compete (but hope they will)
