The long-awaited final bundle of DLC, or AOC as Nintendo likes to call it, for Super Smash Bros. including Bayonetta and Corrin will be landing on Wii U and 3DS systems on 3rd February in North America and the 4th in Europe.
Nintendo has yet to confirm a time but judging from the official Nintendo of America and Nintendo of Europe Twitter accounts it'll be a simultaneous launch across all regions that slips past midnight for Europe and others further ast:
It feels like the end of an era, but with whispers surrounding a potentially new or definitive Super Smash Bros. arriving with the launch of the NX it could only be the beginning. Perhaps.
As always chuck your ideas, opinions, or breakfast preferences down there in the comments section; we'll be waiting.

Hoping the amiibo aren't too far behind. i need me that Baymiibo.
Wow! Awesome!
Mii and @SheldonRandoms (he wanted to be mentioned : P) will be getting this day 1, we got everything for both versions, it has been worth it for mii, shame that it has to end here, but it can't keep going forever sadly, there is two highly requested things would of been grand to be done and that is to have Wolf return, and have Magicant on the Wii U version, shame that it won't happen, however thou is very thankful for the DLC that has been made! thanks daddy Sakurai!
^ I would also LIEK that stuff, but I would also shout "HAIL COBRA!"
Also DLC has been pretty swell, wish Ristar made an appearance as a Mii costume hat or something, but I got my ballot vote dream come true in the end! Also shame Wolf didn't come back as a playable fighter, hopefully Sakurai explains this in the future, and we can see Wolf (along with Krystal) in the next Smash game as playable fighters!
I don't know how you top this definitive version of Smash Bros in the NX. But yeah, bummed the DLC updates are ending. This latest incarnation of SSB had the potential of only getting bigger roster and gameplay wise.
How much is all of the DLC altogether? I think I worked it out before at being around €80. And that's just the Wii U version. The DLC is a fraction of the main game and yet it costs more. Ridiculous! I haven't bought any of the DLC and won't until a reasonably priced season pass is released.
Bowl of Kellogs Cornflakes (any other brand is just a gross copycat!) with semi skinned milk, a glass of apple juice and a mug of piping hot green tea to help it all go down.
Oh, and the AOC looks pretty good too
Prepare for servers meltdown... I'll still be trying to get them on Thursday morning, because I'm a fanboy.
@Sligeach Together, the characters and battlefields are 50$. That's a lot, but I find it's worth it: those DLCs didn't make themselves, and they add a lot.
@Sligeach what article will he complain on next? Stay tuned for the next article kids!
^^^ WARNING! Stalker Alert! ^^^
@Kosmo Here in Europe it costs more than that I'm sure. I'll check in a short while.
@Sligeach nope I just read most of the articles on this site. When somebody pops up over and over and over again for months on end with nothing but complaints I can't help but notice and wonder why they are here in the first place. It's like your getting paid to be disgruntled.
@Sligeach i was about to get the cloud dlc a while back then saw that the dlc came in packs and decided to wait. since these are the last ones, i figured there would be a 'final smash' pack with all dlc and 'final smash edition' with the games as well from the eshop. the price should be less than the sum of it's parts.
They're both coming out on my birthday (3rd)? Well, gosh! I feel double excited now. Heh.
@RaymanFan2 yes. bayonetta mustb e on my desk NOW. there might be a final smash collector's edition of the game with both games, all dlc, and the 3 new amiibo, but only useful if you don't have the games already - unless it comes with an nx version code as well. maybe they'll have a final smash amiibo pack like the triple amiibo packs they had for splatoon and animal crossing.
Still more excited for Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth this week tbh.
Just checked the eShop, it's €68(Wii U only)for all the bundles and that's before the Bayonetta and Corrin bundle.
Want Corrin/Kamui, also the amiibo .
Bayonetta was the one character I was really hoping for besides Shulk in the run up to the game's launch... I'm so hyped for this!
Getting Bayo day 1!
Will they be available after a direct or something?
...
That was quicker then I thought.
Waffles.
Better be up by the time I get back from my appointment that day.
And so this is the end, it's been a pretty good run in terms of Smash DLC and I've gotten everything. Bring on the Hyrule Warriors DLC next Nintendo! (Wind Waker and Linkle stories as well as Great Sea adventure map)
@Undead_terror I also would have liked Wolf to return. One of the many good things Brawl did, was introduce more villains. Star Fox being one of the biggest franchises, Wolf was a natural choice. Maybe he'll be back in the next one. Possibly made even more diverse than Fox and Falco.
Awesome! I was thinking it would release in the middle of the month, so this is earlier than I expected.
So now that us Europeans will get to play as Corrin in Sm4sh next week, can we please get a European release date for Fates Nintendo?
@gb_nes_gamer Wolf isn't really a villain, he and his team helps the Star Fox team in Assault and some paths of Command. I'd say he falls into the same category as King Dedede.
I've not givenup hope for wolf! Although I think I'm on my own now
@Grumblevolcano That's interesting. I've only played Lylat Wars where the Wolf team were enemies. So Wolf is more of a grey area character.
I will buy at least 3 Bayonetta amiibo..gawd I love that witch
@DoctorOverbuild I'm of the view Wolf is still possible though very unlikely, the only way I see it happening is if there's a Nintendo Direct on February 3rd late evening in UK (e.g. 10pm GMT / 5pm EST / 2pm PT) so the characters arriving gets treated as "shortly after this presentation". If that's not happening then I don't think there's any chance.
Remember people, we all waste money on far less "good stuff", like coffee and sweets.. ..oh, mmh, a donut ...
@Grumblevolcano I hope so it would make sense "speaking of star fox we've got a surprise" then wolf! We need a direct soon anyway games are getting close to release dates and people aren't entirely sold on them
@Sligeach well if you waited for that it's kinda gonna add up like that. but looking them as they came out one by one, it wasn't that much, not for a game that many will play for many years to come. people still play smash 64 after all.
@DoctorOverbuild The situation's worse for Europe, 2 of the biggest games this first half of 2016 don't even have release dates. FE Fates is February 19th for NA but TBA 2016 for EU while Star Fox Zero is April 22nd for NA but TBA April 2016 for EU (+ rumours for delayed to July).
Sweeeeeeeeeeeeet.
Why can't they just release it on the same day everywhere? It would make it more fair for people.
@kenrulei But that's how much it costs(€68 Wii U only). Buying them one by one as they come out won't escape that fact. There's examples of DLC done right, this isn't one of them. MK8 and Hyrule Warriors were fantastic, offered a tonne of DLC and were a fraction of the cost of Smash's DLC. That's how it should be done.
I can't wait to get Bayonetta and the umbra clock stage!! I played both Bayonetta games and I loved them!
Been lookong forward to Corrin!! Not so big on the overbearing witch. Many other well known characters through the years and we get some soft porn witch. I guess my taste are quit different than the voters on the ballet
@GrailUK There better not be a direct! (I'm away until the 5th of February next week...)
@Grumblevolcano I think Nintendo just doesn't think they have enough stuff for the next few months for 3ds and wii u to warrant a direct. Or perhaps they're clearing the deck for a NX reveal direct next month?
Idk. I definitely think Kimishima will use directs more sparingly. They'll still happen but only when necessary. Kimishima won't do a direct just to do a direct.
i can almost taste the final dlc
My birthday! Sweet
@Undead_terror Don't leave me out. I plan to get them too.
Rest in piece Fourside, your stage and music will be missed
I would get these, but...I don't have any money on the Eshop...damn. Also, you better start prayin' for a direct, Etika!
@superKsonic48 It sure does suck that we didn't get any Melee stages out of this.
I just want them to throw a sale on the 3DS version AOC... (It's too expensive imo) as when the game is remastered for NX, you can bet it's not gonna be the 3DS version
@NintendoFan64 I know, Melee had some of the best stages and...My favourite Final Destination
Since Sakuri says he doesn't want to make anymore smash games and I think this time he's serious. These games have only had about 1 year if life so making an enhanced NX version us perfect giving the games more time to be played and with a fresh breath of air too! Plus if the NX is powerful with third party support smash on NX will have wayy more players! Still @GrumbleVolcano yup in Europe we need a direct telling us about FE Fates where the heck its release date is! And other games people want to see more of before buying!
@superKsonic48 Yep...no Fourside...no Fountain of Dreams...no Brinstar Depths...and no Big Blue...this sucks. Ah well. There's always next game.
@NintendoFan64 no mute city, no pokefloats, there is always next i guess. Or just play more melee haha
@Grumblevolcano As soon as I saw the headline I thought this lessened the chance of an ND anytime soon. I think they'll let TP HD come out and then have an early March ND for Pokken and SFz and My Nintendo and Miitomo.
Those "no dates" for the EU, and I thought Reggie was a highly overpaid hack.
@Sligeach And don't forget the money they are making on amiibo at $13 each.
It didn't bother me too much the $600 worth of amiibo that accompanied SSB, you do get a lot of characters and levels and mini games for the original $60 and the amiibo seemed completely unnecessary. But now that they are charging $7 to unlock the character in game, plus another $13 to play besides the character, that seems greedy with a capital G to me. You don't strike me as a fan of Skyland erstwhile or Disney Inifinity, but you probably know about them. Imagine if those games charged you $13 to buy the toys and then another $7 to unlock them in game. Those games would have died at launch.
Cloud, Bayonetta and Ryu aren't $7 each, or $13 each, they are $20 each for the full ecperience. You can't get much more of a ripoff then charging for a toy to unlock in game DLC and also charging for the in game DLC.
Bayonetta and Cloud are two of the only characters they have released that I am guaranteed to purchase. I'm about 60% sure about Ryu, and the others I am not too interested in. Especially for the prices they charge. No big deal though. If you don't want them, you don't have to buy them. Doesn't get any easier than that.
@rjejr The timing of release for this DLC is awkward though if there isn't a Direct. For NoA to say afternoon of February 3rd and NoE to say morning of February 4th, the only way both of those can be satisfied is around 5pm PT / 1am GMT (give or take less than an hour) in which the eshop is never updated around that time unless there has been a Direct beforehand.
Man, I was wishing for School Uniform Mii Costumes for quite a while
Regardless, all good things must come to an end and I'll be buying the whole thing. Can't wait for Corrin
wow so soon! man next month just keeps getting more stacked!
Quick. Someone find out how much both versions, all the DLC for both versions, and all of the Amiibo will cost together.
@Whopper744 I can't agree more with your statement. It just seems to me like such a missed opportunity. Corrin looks cool though.
Can't wait for Corrin . Bayonetta not quite as much, but I'm still interested. Still, I can't help but feel they should have gone with Elma instead of Corrin. Xenoblade could use another character after all, and Elma is in pretty much the same situation as Corrin release time wise (coming soon or recently came out).
@Whopper744 Same here. I'm not so big on Bayonetta, but Corrin I am looking forward too. At the same time though, I didn't have any more specific characters I wanted in after Roy (except maybe Elma like I mentioned) so I guess I'm good.
@NintendoFan64 Hey I feel ya. I wanted those stages back too along with Poke Floats and Great Bay, but hey...best to be thankful and focus on what IS there right? And there is a lot there to be thankful for.
Smash 4 is about to be complete, guys!
@amiiboacid They should be sure to account for Amiibo inflation as well.
@NintendoFan64 It's already too late. Early January ended two weeks ago and Etika is a lying * at least he should be but he's too much of a * to chop his * off and eat em'.
@Grumblevolcano
Maybe they need to get these things out so they can focus on a new Direct for things we know nothing of yet.
@Whopper744 I take it you don't play zero suit samus then.
@Sligeach Which is never on Nintendo platforms. You either buy the DLC now or never lol.
@twadezelda3dsxl They are releasing it at the same exact time, it just happens to be "different" in other areas. While it's February 4th in Japan and UK, it will be the 3rd still in America. In the end it's still the same thing.
@sWiTcHeRoO "Which is never on Nintendo platforms."
What?
I can't believe New Pork City isn't in the new game. It would've been great for 8-Player Smash. They should've included it with the Lucas DLC.
@twadezelda3dsxl They release it at one time. Meaning, it is technically the same time.
How early Thursday? I need Bayo, like instantly.
@Kalmaro I'm cool with Samus (and Zero Suit). I know not everyone agrees, and that's cool, but I personally just have some issues with alot of the themes with Bayonetta, and just thinks she looks a bit odd with the rest od the cast. To be fair though, I guess Snake looked off amd I was cool with him.
@Sligeach "MK8 and Hyrule Warriors were fantastic, offered a tonne of DLC and were a fraction of the cost of Smash's DLC. That's how it should be done."
That's arguable, MK8 had the quantity per price factor right but the number of packs completely wrong (there should've been at least 4 instead of 2). As for Hyrule Warriors, to get all the DLC on the Wii U version you have to buy the Hero of Hyrule pack (which is great value for money) but also Hyrule Warriors Legends for 3DS and a Link amiibo.
I'd say in general, Smash did it the best because of the frequency at which new content arrived (April, June, July, September, December and February). MK8 suffered from being so spread out and colliding with the big new releases (Smash in November and Splatoon in May) and Hyrule Warriors suffered from having to buy the 3DS version to get all the DLC in the Wii U version. Don't get me wrong, I would've bought Legends even if all the Legends content came to Wii U via eshop download but if someone either doesn't have a New 3DS or doesn't want the 3DS version then they're out of luck for the extra characters.
@Giygas_95 Right. I should still be thankful for what I got. Besides, they didn't even have to do dlc anyways, and we still got more N64 stages, so...good.
I despair at times on this site. I think I'm done for today responding to all the nonsense. But I'll part with this, mark my words the Legends DLC will end up on the Wii U, for a fee of course. All Hyrule Warrior's DLC is a 1/3 of the price of Smash Bros. Sure MK8's 2 DLC packs were spread out but they're here now. Releasing a track every month from each pack in the long run wouldn't have made a huge difference. It was a year for both packs, less time than Smash Bros. DLC schedule. And MK8's DLC was less than 1/4 of the price of Smash Bros.
@Sligeach "I haven't bought any of the DLC and won't until a reasonably priced season pass is released."
That. Nintendo doesn't do that.
Could they not get the rights to the vocals for B's music? Sounds odd without it.
I like organic slightly sweetened corn flakes with a bit dark brown sugar and lots of whole milk.
Bayonetta seems kool.
:V
We had a good run... I'm certainly satisfied.
I can't stand that annoying "AAAAAAH" voice that Bayonetta makes when she's knocked back, I think it's worse than Fox's "NEEEYOW"
And I just bought an eshop card. Sweet! Will be getting both on the 3rd.
I like pancakes topped with fried apples.
@Joestar
Lol, I know what ya mean. Ryu's english voice has always bothered me in Street Fighter IV. I always set it to Japanese, can't do that on Smash unfortunately.
Anyways, Febuary is a big month. I gotta get Smash DLC, Fire Emblem Fates and Street Fighter V.
Corrin on the 3rd should hopefully help me wait for that Fates release. So hype for Feb xD
I'm still holding out hope for a Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam Stage myself.
Anyone?
@Whopper744 I see. Bayonetta is certainly more in-your-face about her sexuality. It doesn't bother me much but I could see why it would bother others.
@Sligeach I'm not counting the Mii costumes. Those are dispensable. The additional characters and battlefields aren't. It's around 50$, and it's a steep price, but it's still quality.
And I'm in Europe too...
@Grumblevolcano Announcing an ND Monday for Wed before the DLC becomes available makes sense, but I've given up on Nintendo making sense. I don't think the new President is in love w/ ND's as much as the old President was. And wouldn't they just announce the ND for Wed now, and leave this info for in the ND? Isn't that more in line w/ past ND's? I'd be more than happy to be wrong, but the pieces just don't seem to fit.
@amiiboacid If you have to ask you can't afford it.
IDK, hypothetically shouldn't you have double the content if you're paying around 70 or 80 dollars for all of the DLC, since that's what the game costs? So basically, 100 characters and stages, and like, a bunch of other modes?
The Smash DLC is very expensive.
@Kalmaro I was being a little harsh I guess but yeah that's part of it. The whole demon thing kind of keeps me from getting her game more than anything. A bit of a shame since the gameplay seems fun. Parts of what I've seen of it though just makes me uncomfortable,
Bayonetta's voice when hit is stupidly annoying. Corrin looks sick though, hyped for fates.
@sWiTcHeRoO "@Sligeach "I haven't bought any of the DLC and won't until a reasonably priced season pass is released."
That. Nintendo doesn't do that."
Maybe not titled Season Pass, but they have released economy packs for (nearly) all DLC. Might do a SSB Ultimate Pack or something later now that the DLCs are done.
Haven't posted for ages, But I do enjoy some Granola and OJ for brekkies......But seriously I'm sad to see the Smash ride end this week and I'm happy to be supporting DLC that has been great fan service and has kept a great game like this going. Bad Service (imo) Star Wars Battlefront Season Pass..........,I say no more
No prices?
@StraTTtheRipper In the US, Bayonetta is $6 for one system and $7 for both, while Corrin is $5 for one and $6 for both. Bayonetta's the same price as Cloud and Ryu in the US, and Corrin is halfway in between the other newcomers and the vets, so that may help you figure out EU prices if you live there since I don't know them.
@donniedarkenson Smash DLC is expensive IF you compare to content included in the base game. But compared to Street Fighter DLC, or BattleFront DLC it's cheaper. The cost proposition is this is content not made simply to get money (SFIV costumes) but fan chosen content created after the base game was final. You can choose to buy all, some, or none of it. It's much more in cost if you add all of the Amiibo (DLC) but you don't hear too many amiibo collectors complaining about that.
That said Im all in for a Smash Bros NX definitive edition.
Awesome way to end a week, and even better way to start off the next! Can't way to try 'em out!
Can't wait to try Corrin. Looks great so far.
@MagicEmperor My birthday is also the 3rd! Gonna be awesome! So excited!
@Nico07 If we exclude costume packs for either game...
When Street Fighter 4 released new characters as DLC, they gave you 5 characters and 6 stages for 15 dollars.
According to smashbros.com, using their most cost efficient bundle for fighters, you have to pay $34.93, for 7 characters + the 3 character specific stages. The stage bundle (5 extra stages?) is an additional $10.45. So it costs about $45 right now to get it all.
So it's about... 2.5x as expensive as SF's character and stage pricing model? And, Street Fighter IV is the cheaper game too, although they do release a lot of versions and you gotta keep your Street Fighter up to date if you want to compete.
I just don't really get why people think Nintendo invented cheap DLC or something. These games are expensive, not to mention the base price of these games.
Finally, I can keep any replays I create after the 3rd. About time!
Yessss!! Can't wait to play as Corrin..
"UHHHHHHHHHH!"
"YAHHHHHHHHH!"
I just have coffee and sometimes an apple.
@Sligeach It seemed to be more like $120 ($60 for the actual game and another $60 for the DLC).
@GhostMitch I bought the game for €45,- (the store made a mistake)
This DLC is a no brainer buy
A week when I'm broke. Figures. Still happy these will be out soon.
Super excited, especially since there's this rather big regional tournament where I live at the end of the month and since Bayo and Corrin are being released over two weeks before the tournament, they'll be legal in it.
My eShop money is ready, Nintendo.
I think its the cheapest to go for the character and stage bundle. But the problem is, if you have Mewtwo you can't download character-packs that have also Mewtwo in it! Ah well, we'll see!
@Henmii Luckily for you, and I really only did mental math here, but I added up all the characters separately, and there doesn't really seem to be a difference between buying the characters in a bundle or buying them individually.
@Sligeach hold on a sec. Cause the reason why they were more in smash 4 was because there was more dlc than both MK8 and Hyrule Warriors combined. MK8 really only had 3 things for dlc so it wouldn't be very much in the first place. Hyrule Warriors had a little more dlc but it still didn't compare to smash 4, which has more dlc than basically any game on the eshop.
Any world on when the update will go live? On GameFAQ it's assumed that in NA it will be after the scheduled maintenance ending 6:30 PM PST. Anyone else heard differently or been able to download already?
Is this the final wave of DLC then?
@HeroLink98 Happy belated birthday, HeroLink! February 3 FTW!
@donniedarkenson,
Thanks for the answer!
