Re: Deals: There's Really Never Been A Better Time To Buy Starlink On Switch

stylon

I bought this at launch and I although I loved it, I quickly realised that the toy aspect of it just didn't work for me. I prefered the ease and speed of switching components digitally, in game. So I kept the game cartridge and sold everything else on eBay. Think I got about £35 for it which I put towards buying extra digital ships and weapons. No regrets at all!

Re: Guide: Fortnite - How To Visit Different Named Locations In A Single Match

I normally hate online shooters because I'm rubbish at them but strangely I enjoy Fortnite. I'm still rubbish but because you can stealth your way into the top ten on a regular basis without even firing a shot it doesn't 'feel' like I'm rubbish. If I manage to get the odd kill along the way then I feel really pleased with myself and I've managed 2nd quite a few times. I don't have the ninja reflexes or building skills to ever get 1st but it doesn't really matter in this game.

These guides are really helpful to me too as I'm new to all this. Haven't even figured out what those vending machines do yet!

Been playing this since yesterday (thank you SimplyGames) and it is fantastic. The story, characters, music and voice acting combine superbly to pull you in and time just flies by whilst you play or watch the story unfold in the terrific cut-scenes. On a slight downer I can also attest to the drop in quality when playing mobile but it's certainly no deal-breaker and being able to continue playing during my lunch break is priceless!

Re: Guide: Pokémon GO Raids, Bosses, Rewards And Winning Tactics

Nicely done guide... about a month too late mind as I've already had to figure it all out by trial and error now but should help a lot of newer or more casual players

I play every day and have done since launch. My wife and I (yes she plays too) went to the Pokemon event in Chester a while back when they introduced the Legendary raids. I find the raids have really re-ignited that feeling of camaraderie there was at the beginning when everyone and their dog was out playing it, especially the legendary raids.

I've caught one Legendary myself (Moltres) and although I'm a little disappointed I've not been able to get any of the others yet, they wouldn't be quite so legendary to own if everyone had one!

Re: Oceanhorn Devs See "Bright Future" For Switch, Despite Smartphones Already Overtaking It In Raw Power

@MegaTen Depends on your idea of "remaining true", because in my eyes they most certainly haven't with the Switch. It won't play ANY of my back catalogue of Nintendo games in any shape or form - necessitating the re-purchasing of remasters or keeping the previous gen system. Microsoft's system lets you play most last generation games on the current one for free and will soon offer the generation before that too. Sony don't fare quite so well but at least they offer PS Now which gives you access to a lot of PS3 games. Nintendo offer nothing and even when they launch their online they are only going to be offering ancient NES/SNES games that we've already bought countless times in the past in different formats.

Re: Minecraft Won't Take Up As Many Blocks On Your Switch As You Might Think

stylon

@nhSnork But it's not a fresh version though is it? It's just a port of the most recent console iteration of the game. Besides - I bought Minecraft on PC when it first came out and it was £15. I bought it again on 360 when it was ported to that platform and it was £15. When it was ported again to the Xbox One it was still £15 (and existing owners could get a discount). It was the same price on the PS3 and PS4 too. I'm talking about the price it was at launch on those platforms too... not a discounted price now. This is the first time I've been looking at buying it on a Nintendo platform but have to say I find the price quite shocking to be honest - I see no reason why it should cost any more than the other platforms did.

All the console versions come with a nicely crafted world for you to explore - this one might be Nintendo themed but that doesn't justify a massive price hike.

Re: Video: Listen Up, We've Reviewed LucidSound's LS20 Gaming Headset

Such a shame the Switch doesn't support bluetooth audio. All my mobile devices from the past few years have supported it and I've already invested in a good set of noise cancelling Bluetooth cans. Fortunately they also support a cable so this is definitely a first world issue but a shame none the less.

Re: You Can Now Save Credit Card Information on the Switch eShop

stylon

I'm sorry to be a bit jaded but I'm not going to congratulate Nintendo just for adding something that is taken for granted on other systems and should have been there from inception - it's not like the eShop is a new invention or anything...

I suppose I should at least find comfort in the fact that it's not another 'stability update'

Re: Review: TumbleSeed (Switch eShop)

stylon

See I don't mind a challenge, I enjoy the Dark Souls games for example, but even those games allow you to save your progress (periodically) at a bonfire. Going right back to the start and losing all progress in Tumbleseed is a total turn off for me - I'm out.

Re: Review: Snake Pass (Switch eShop)

Really charming and unique little game but holy smoke, some of those coins are infuriatingly tricky to reach!!! I've nearly thrown my switch across the room with frustration a few times after repeatedly dying trying to reach a few of them. I guess I haven't quite nailed the controls yet...

Re: Lego City Undercover Box Reveals a Mandatory 13GB Install

stylon

Ludicrous - so you could pop into a shop whilst on holiday or in a motorway services and buy the game to keep little Jonny quiet in the back of the car and he won't be able to play it because you have to download the rest of the game? Seriously WTF???? If it's bought physically then it should work out of the box!!!

Re: Review: Skylanders Imaginators (Switch)

stylon

@Nico07 Thanks - I've always played these games on my Xbox so have no experience of using them on the 3DS. I have to say the prospect of having my entire collection on tap without carting the figures around is actually quite exciting... seriously thinking about making the switch version my primary Imaginators console now. I guess the only downside would be having to re-scan them all again at some point to use them with my xbox again!
