@Greenspan So you can lend the game to people who aren't in your family plan. So you have something to put on your shelf. So you can save space on your console's SSD. So when servers eventually go down you can still always have access to the game, even if it's not the original version. I mean... there ARE reasons.
I think the new Donkey Kong design is great, and let's not forget that Rare's take was a redesign from the original arcades. It's more than fair that Nintendo should get to redesign him again all these years later (and they did keep the tie).
@Not_Soos Agreed. Also that just isn't how things work. Nintendo farms out their IP like 2D Metroid, Smash Bros., and Star Fox to other studios. They are the big publisher and platform holder partnering with smaller studios where appropriate. They aren't a small studio looking for work.
@CaptainCapture There were a lot of problems with the Wii U. The branding and messaging were both misfires but I think the problems started with the whole concept. People were over motion controls and the dual screen design ultimately didn't result in any compelling gameplay.
@PipeGuy64Bit Sure, but for games like 3D Land and Pushmo it was arguably integral. Even with a game like Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon it doesn't really impact anything gameplay-wise but the graphics totally lean into the stereoscopic 3D. Link Between Worlds too.
I'm concerned that game preservation will be a serious challenge for the DS and 3DS libraries. Even in cases where these games get ported to newer platforms, the true original experience that relied on two screens, and in cases stereoscopic 3D, will be lost.
@mr_benn It has a different body (modelled after a Genesis redesign I believe) and comes with the six button controller instead of the three button controller the original Genesis mini had in the west. It's also emulating Sega CD games so the emulation software is probably different or expanded. To my knowledge, besides the games themselves those are all the differences.
Sorry, is it just me or are the first two cup names missing from the list? What are the names of the ones that look like a super mushroom and... a beehive?
@aznable This was meant for you: always leave 2 trees, one on either side, at the camps or they stop spawning peasants for you to recruit. Otherwise clear out all the trees for hunting and farming. Don't stop recruiting and lean into farming when you can.
@Donutman always leave 2 trees, one on either side, at the camps or they stop spawning peasants for you to recruit. Otherwise clear out all the trees for hunting and farming. Don't stop recruiting and lean into farming when you can.
@nessisonett Not entirely... beyond publishing, Yacht Club is also helping with playtesting and providing the developer with feedback and advice. I know that's a far cry from a development role, but given their experience I think it still bodes really well for Cyber Shadow.
@lankysi Understandable, but there's a big difference between the amount of time and resources that needs to go into a remaster vs. a new game. Think about the prototyping, design, and iteration work alone that is saved when making a remaster.
So, the choice is really less between a remaster of an old Mario game vs. a new Mario game, and more between a remaster of an old Mario game and completing 1/10 the effort on a new Mario game.
@lankysi You're not behind remasters? But considering that you missed Mario 64, Sunshine and Galaxy that you are exactly the kind of person that remasters are meant for!
I would like wireless video streaming. That is, instead of the dock, I'd like to see a Chromecast-like fob that plugs into an HDMI port and lets you play Switch games on a TV without any wires. Heck, it would be great if it just integrates with Chromecasts!
This looks very appealing to me, but I think it's an interesting choice going with a portrait design (vis-Ã -vis the original GameBoy) rather than a landscape design (i.e. the GBA). I think I would prefer the latter.
@skulltulips You have 80 days to circumvent the globe, as in travel all the way around the world. If you don't plan your trip in such a way that allows you to meet that goal in that timeframe, or if you run out of resources, you would fail.
I just wish someone would make a case that would let me charge my switch with my current power bank. You know, just a pocket for any power bank, and slots to route the cable to the Switch.

Re: Super Mario Galaxy 1 + 2 Prices Are Live, And It's Sticker Shock Time
Is Mario Galaxy on 3D All Stars also getting a Switch 2 upgrade, or is the idea here to punish people for having bought the earlier collection.

Boo, Nintendo! 😡

@BIG3 I'm thinking 'Switch Up'.

Re: 8% Of Developers Are Apparently Working On Games For Switch's Successor
@Nintendo_Thumb Didn't know that's what the NES toploader was called.
Re: 8% Of Developers Are Apparently Working On Games For Switch's Successor
@DreamingSpirals I'd say it's more of an accessory since it's useless without an actual console. Still, credit for thinking of that.
Re: 8% Of Developers Are Apparently Working On Games For Switch's Successor
@ThatZeldaNerd Sure but that's just a placeholder and for that purpose it's as good as anything.
@Synecdoche I'm thinking SwitchUP.
Re: 8% Of Developers Are Apparently Working On Games For Switch's Successor
@ThatZeldaNerd when has Nintendo ever released a console that was a name of a previous console with a 2 slapped on??
Re: Review: Red Dead Redemption - A Fine But No-Frills Switch Port, For A Fistful Of Dollars

Re: Japanese Charts: Pikmin 4 Comfortably Holds Onto Its Throne
@AmplifyMJ Not at all 🙂
Re: Japanese Charts: Pikmin 4 Comfortably Holds Onto Its Throne
@AmplifyMJ Nope, genuinely didn't get it before, but I guess you're probably right.
Re: Japanese Charts: Pikmin 4 Comfortably Holds Onto Its Throne
"This takes the game's total sales to a rather ominous-looking 666,377."
In what way is it ominous?
Re: Review: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection - The New Gold Standard For Retro Compilations
@Hikingguy I think many people would argue that Metroid was very similar to Castlevania.

Mario Kart 7 is too low imo. Otherwise it looks about right to me.

@OcarinaHolder52 I'm pretty sure PlayAsia is putting out a physical version.

@romanista Guess I missed that. Thanks!
Re: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Version 2.0.0 Now Live, Confirms All DLC Cup Names
Well, I guess from the image above the list we can see that the first one is called the "Golden Dash Cup"

@N8tiveT3ch I played a demo at PAX East 2019 and I was very impressed. Ended up being my favorite demo of what I played.

@Arkay I had Cruisin' USA on the 64 and really liked it. Looking back now though, I'm not sure the series was really that great.

Super want Outer Wilds in Switch. Metroid Prime Trilogy just goes without saying.

Towerfall. Just saying.
