Re: Donkey Kong 3

Looks.. alright. But I would prefer to play the arcade version rather than the outdated NES port. But even then I can live without this game.

Re: Talking Point: Is the Virtual Console On The Slide?

Well for me the VC has been fantastic since it first started I have downloaded 60+ titles. It has gotten me into games that I never got the chance to play since I only started gaming during the N64 days. I was always interested in retro gaming but I never liked setting up multiple systems. I even play VC games way more than regular Wii games.

Although I do have to admit I am starting to get a tiny bit worried since there seems to be slowdown in recent weeks with even just 1 game a week for NA which doesn't look to good for Europeans either especially if a game that comes out that will not interest anybody. I also wish something was done about different games been released since they can take far too long to come over here like Secret of Mana and Mario Golf and ST 2 which we are still waiting for. Oh and then there’s the 50hz problem since I can't stand some games with slower music especially Castlevania and Sonic The Hedgehog.

Re: Kirby's Dream Land 3

There will be quite a few Hanabi titles coming around sometime this year even if Hudson doesn't announce any Turbograpx games. Although i am not too sure about this game, I still need to play Kirby's Adventure.

Oh and I could have sworn Super Turrican 2 did come out in PAL.

Re: Super Smash Bros.

I have this on N64 since i was a kid. Quite good fun although cumbersome nowadays since the sequels offer far more depth. I still play it today though.

Re: EU WiiWare Update: World Of Goo And Lots More!

slangman

I know I don't usually post here (only use this account for VC-R), but this is another fine WiiWare week for Europe. I might get WoG sometime time soon, the only thing that puts me off is the large block size. Wiiware is starting to get real good despite the WW library having quite a lot of shovelware titles.

I hope we get SoM next week.

Re: R-Type

slangman

Kinda similar except Gradius II is a CD game that came on the TurboDuo which was an add on for the TurboGrafx resulting in CD quality music. The extra feature is well worth the 200 points.

Re: R-Type

slangman

@ lockelocke
Because we have the extended version of this game. In japan the PC-Engine version of R-Type actually came on two Hucards which means they have to pay 1200 to download both.

Re: Impossible Mission II

slangman

Sounds very decent but sadly i will have to pass with this since I found the original too hard. Then again puzzles arn't my cup of tea.

Re: R-Type

slangman

"The TurboGrafx port of R-Type is a faultless rendition of the arcade original with hardly any differences"

Well i disagree with that too. The sound, the music and the graphics are downgraded in places. This is more of a conversion than a port. If you need an arcade perefct port I hear R-Types on the PS1 is your best shot.

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog 2

slangman

I thought NA never got this game. Even if it comes out this week i doubt i will get this since i never liked this game much on gems collection.

Re: Life Force

slangman

@Betagam7 according to Gamefaqs this did come to europe. Might reconsider getting this myself if it means slower music.

Re: Metal Slug 2

slangman

@RadioShadow dunno about HD support but the PAL Metal Slug 2 takes up about 170 blocks. For NTSC regions it's slightly less most of the time.

Re: Donkey Kong

slangman

I really can't see whats so great about this game. The NES conversion is terrible, it sounds terrible and the fact that the 2nd level in this game isn't included really puts the final nail in the coffin for me. If you really want to play this game play the arcade version on DK64. The sounds are way better and it even has the factory level.

Re: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars

slangman

Finally finished this awesome game. For me I enjoyed this so much that it goes up there very close to my favourite games list. One of the best SNES games ever released, and judging by the readers rating i can see how people feel very strongly about this game as i am. Not to be missed.

Re: EU VC Update: Metal Slug 2, Forgotten Worlds and Space Invaders

slangman

Disappointing week for me. If it wasn't for the fact I already own the Metal Slug Anthology I would have downloaded Metal Slug 2. Oh and it's great we finally get a SNES game but why Space Invaders instead of Secret of Mana? NoE really knows how to delay anticipated SNES games don't they?

@Starwolf_UK According to wikipedia there are a couple of Mega Drive games released on the VC that never got released in Japan (Vectorman for example)

Re: Nobunaga's Ambition

slangman

Dunno. Looking on Gamefaqs I can't see an EU date nor can I see PAL copies on eBay. I guess this is one of those SNES games that got quickly got forgotten about overtime.

Re: USA VC Update: Boogerman

slangman

Meh! I am sure most people are annoyed by the lack of Castlevania III. Shame it's also another 1 game week again. Almost as lame as waiting for Secret of Mana.

Re: Mega Man 3

slangman

Snakeman is actually very easy when you know when to do those slightly tricky jumping bits. Although you do need needleman's weapon to make the boss fight easier.

Still the key to easily completing a robot masters level is to know the bosses weakness as well as the layout to the level. I actually think the Mega Man games are easy and are not as hard as people say they are.

Re: Mega Man 2

slangman

Weird, I managed to get up to the Dr Wily stages in just 1 day and this was in difficulty level, although i still haven't completed the game yet . A very good game but not as hard as people say it is.

Re: Mega Man 3

slangman

I think this might be my favourite Mega Man game. I really like most of the music in this game as well as the level and boss designs. Must finally finish 2 and 9 after i finish this game off.

@Mipsymoodle This game is easier if you use the right weapons for right boss. Keep practising the layout each of the stage. They get far easier when you know how they work and when you should jump in the right moments.

Re: EU VC Update: Phantasy Star IV and Mega Man 3

slangman

Well there was me thinking about downloading PS4. Since i found out that the music runs slower than the NTSC version i think i will give this a miss for now. Keep up the poor conversions Nintendo/Sega all it's doing is stopping me from downloading more games that have slower music.
