If ever there was a spiritual successor to Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest, it’s the new DLC for Bloodstained - Classic Mode 2: Dominique’s Curse! Really hits all the same beats and scratches that itch. Enjoying that this weekend.
New Fortnite battle pass has me feeling like I’m beyond Thunderdome. That’s a win for me. I believe I’ll stay camped out on the Battle Bus this weekend.
It’s Wrestlemania weekend, so I’ll prob bust out some old school NES Pro Wrestling, if you smell what the Great Puma (the real “Final Boss”) is cookin.’
I’ve been on spring break with my kids this week, which has yielded more time for gaming. My daughter and I have been watching One Piece and playing Pirate Warriors 3 together, and both my kids have enjoyed our quiz show mornings of Big Brain Academy and Knowledge Trainer. I’ve spent considerable time back in Hyrule activating lightroots and solving shrine puzzles in TOTK. I’ve rediscovered the arcade magic of Sunset Riders and Ghosts ‘N Goblins Resurrection. My third attempt at playing Astral Chain over the past few years seems to have finally taken. I’m about 5 hours into the game (case file 4), and now, I see the awesomeness (but wow, that felt like the longest cutscene-heavy tutorial ever to get here). Lots of Fortnite with my wife and stepson, and I got past a sticking point I had in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak.
TOTK! Finished exploring the Gerudo regional phenomena this morning & had so much fun with that. Felt like I was Lara Croft or Indiana Jones solving the puzzles in the Lightning Temple. I also picked up my first solo Victory Royale of the new Fortnite season, and I plan on spending more time in that this weekend, too.
I’ve largely been riding through Hyrule atop Epona knocking out shrine quests in TOTK this week, but I picked up a few titles on payday (Nine Years of Shadows, Squad 51 vs the Flying Saucers, Tomb Raider, and What the Dub). I also downloaded demos of Pepper Grinder, Unicorn Overlord, and Contra to check out. I had to play Killer Instinct again after the Direct announcement. It’s prob been 20+ years since I’ve played it. Sadly, It is not like riding a bicycle (I totally forgot everything).
I played the demos for Another Code and Mario vs Donkey Kong this week. Then, I dug into my backlog, pulling out Cave Story+. I’m near the end and have met the conditions for the best ending. Looking forward to wrapping that this weekend. It’s been super fun!
I picked up a few deep discounts on the eShop and have been playing those this week: Dragon’s Dogma, Trailblazers, Unsighted, RWBY, and Cris Tales. I’ve also found myself revisiting Persona 5 Royal and some beat’em ups Streets of Rage 4 and River City Girls. Got stuck on the scarab beetle boss fight in Mummy Demastered and have shelved that for now. Kinda been all over the place. For chill time before bed, it’s Klondike Solitaire on 51 Clubhouse Games or Palia to explore the Maji Market event.
Been on a WayForward kick this week. Dove back into River City Girls and Mummy Demastered. I started both of these several years ago but never finished them. I forgot how much fun both are. The zombie trash compactor scene in RCG was a total treat, and I can’t get the soundtrack outta’ my skull.
I beat Super Mario Odyssey last night. I also dove back into TOTK this weekend and the usuals (Palia and Fortnite). My son also wanted to help me solve mysteries aboard Return of the Obra Dinn. So, with our combined sleuthing, we solved 3 of the deaths on there yesterday.
Playing a lot of things lately (AEW Fight Forever, Suika Game, Cassette Beasts, Arkham Asylum, The Missing, Townscaper, Children of Morta, and Severed Steel), but what really grabbed me unexpectedly is Palia. I’m hooked, and I’ve been absorbed in that almost all weekend.
I saw a lot of posts about Ghostbusters Spirits Unleashed on here last weekend. So, I picked it up as a treat to myself on payday Friday. Not disappointed at all. It’s been a blast running around and bustin’ ghosts! Other than that, I know I’ll be readying up in Fortnite OG with my wife & kids squad.
I got back into Metroid Dread over my kids’ Fall Break and have been playing a lot of Super Hot lately. Just picked up Hellboy: Web of Wyrd, and I’m looking forward to jumping into that.
I bought Super Hot awhile back (prob during an eShop sale) and finally started playing it this weekend. This is the perfect game I can pick up and play for a round or two OR get totally lost in for hours. Im hooked.
Tetris 99, Klondike solitaire on Clubhouse Games, Fortnite with the fam, picked up Fight n’ Rage on the eShop sale, and downloaded the demo after reading so many comments about Sea of Stars. Looking forward to MythForce release this week.
Happy day after MAR10 Day! Will likely grab one of the discounted Mario titles (got my eyes on Mario Party Superstars or Yoshi’s Crafted World). Slime Rancher has been sitting in my backlog from a sale awhile back. Finally, jumped into it and am absolutely hooked (also, it plays a lot like Metroid Prime Remastered…which I’m also playing). Trying to keep up with my son in the new Fortnite Battle Pass, but he’s already level 26 after one day of play (got my work cut out for me). Still cruising through Disney Dreamlight Valley and playing a lot of the NSO titles lately (Comix Zone, Tetris, GoldenEye).
My wife, daughter, and I have been completely sucked into Disney Dreamlight Valley this week. I kicked off the weekend playing a few rounds of Fortnite, Among Us, and Splatoon 3 with my son. Been spending more time in NSO Gameboy on old school Tetris and peeked in for a couple Tera Raid battles on Pokémon Violet to pick up that mighty mark Pikachu. On my own, it’s more Slay The Spire. Don’t know that I can drop the $ on Octopath 2 yet (LOVED the 1st one), but I might pick up some bargain basement games in the eShop. Co-op crawling on Dark Dungeon Warrior for under $6 is appealing.
My 9-year old daughter has turned Disney Dreamlight into a competition: “Dad, have you unlocked Maui yet?” I just got Wall-E.” So, I’ve been having a lot of fun playing that. I picked up Poison Control for $5 in the eShop, and I’m digging that. Slay The Spire, Animal Crossing, and Among Us with my son have all been games I’ve returned to this week. And Fortnite….always.
Beat Pokémon Violet last night, and I’m excited for the post game. Joined my kids in wrapping the Fortnite chapter yesterday and starting the new Battle Pass today. Also started Persona 5 and picked up Dreamlight Valley on the Black Friday sale.
Arkanoid, Shredder’s Revenge, ACNH (always) & Fortnite are getting the most play on my Switch right now. I’m a sucker for a good metroidvania, so I took @Smug43’s suggestion on Ghost Story. It’s very cool so far.
I’m playing through NieR Automata, but I discovered Howl-o-ween Hero in the eShop this morning (for less than $5) and got sidetracked trick or treating. Definitely a treat!
Been on fall break with my kids this week. Totally got sidetracked from Tunic by Nier Automata, which I’m loving. Dropping in daily on Ooblets (the Dance Battles are the best), turf battles in Splatoon 3, battle royales in Fortnite, and daily errand loop in Animal Crossing New Horizons. I also jumped back in Super Mario Odyssey after forever and forgot how great this game is.
I tried Splatoon 3 this week, but for the money, it really doesn’t seem much different than 2. If anything, the matchmaking seems way more lopsided (or else my Turf War skills are just that rusty). Tunic held my interest more, and that’s what I’m spending my time on heading into the weekend.
I am wanting to get the Cowabunga Collection & Splatoon 3, but I also can’t put Ooblets down. Between todoozies, wishys, gummies, and dance battles, I’m hooked.

I’ve been absorbed in AfterImage. Scratches my metroidvania itch. Nice mix of so much of what I love about these types of games.

The new Wolverine skin in Fortnite is sick. I’m going to be running around with just my pickaxe, and by that, I mean…SNIKT!

TOTK for me, too! I almost produced tears when I saw my horses from BOTW were at the stable. What a cool find! Loving it so far. Cheers for Tears!
