Re: Feature: Inside The Twisted And Abusive Culture Of Yasha Haddaji's Nintendo Russia

link422007

@goggles789 I really don't, I just think about on both perspectives. Empathy has to be applied on both sides of the spectrum to understand all.

My profession has taught me that.

Like I said, we all fall on the court of public opinions, but we should always be fair to all things or risk being vindictive and blind to what is actually just and fair for all. That includes the accused because I've had my fair share of false accusations and rebuttals in my workplace. Trust me, you won't be saying that if it happens to you.

I didn't think it would happen to me but it did. And I'm glad that they were dropped when I began pressing for charges and damages. I would like nothing more than to find a definitive solution to this as much as you. But knee jerk reactions are reserved for the ER when life is actually at stake just in my point of view.

I'm not defending Nintendo, I'm simply stating how bureaucracy and the rule of law works.

Re: Feature: Inside The Twisted And Abusive Culture Of Yasha Haddaji's Nintendo Russia

@goggles789 It's not tinfoil hat wearing when we don't even get to hear the other side of the story to collate and compare. We have two courts, the court of public opinions and an actual court.

Although we try to be fair and unbiased, we always fall for the court of public opinions. I would reserve judgement when it is due, until I hear the other side of the argument. We may hear what actual employees say and witnessed, but witness statements are less reliable than actual physical evidence such a video or a photograph. Eye witness accounts must first be corroborated by time, place and person present in order to be recognized as enough proof of guilt.

One video of breaking down does not prove of chronic mistreatment. Thus, Nintendo of Europe has to investigate further and corroborate all necessary evidence to justifiably fire this guy or risk union subpoenas on an actual court and violate administrative policies for companies. They have to follow rules too.

link422007

@Equinox Being a cultural relativist makes you more of an SJW than some other people. Notice that this guy doesn't even look Russian and his name doesn't even sound Russian. If he was going to behave, then he should behave according to Russian laws and Russian culture.

Seeing this guy's name, I'm not surprised, I've heard stories of people like him having certain views on blue collar and standard employees as a whole. There's a story of a turkish socialite that looked down on a Filipino worker over there saying they don't deserve vacations.

Really makes the noggin joggin'.

Re: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Includes 59 Unique Assist Trophies

link422007

Isaac relegated to being an assist trophy again.

You know, the only people to blame for Golden Sun getting the shaft again is Camelot. If only:

1. Golden Sun isn't stuck with the Takahashi brothers

2. If they can't come up with anything, sell the IP because its just sitting there.

It's such a waste seeing as the games should be one of the gems competing with the xeno series, pokemon and the mario RPG series.

Re: Both Xenoblade Chronicles 2 And Torna – The Golden Country Have Just Been Updated

link422007

@Trajan Finished mine before this post. Not the most frustrating to fill out on all the rare blades since T-elos rewards you so freaking much (Say hi, Ursula and Dagas) but it's just way, way too annoying if you're still going through the motions with it. Now I'm just finishing the affinity charts for blades I had no interest in earlier and for the Torna blades to sort out and max my party's lineup before going for challenge mode. So far, I have:

Poppi QTpi, alpha and QT
Mythra/Pyra (I still use Pyra too, she's got a lot of output on specials)
T-elos (interchangeable with Roc if I don't want healer Rex because aside from Mythra, has one of the highest crit rates and his evasion art with Rex is super helpful against Kurodil with Moon matter chip without the aux cores)
Catalyst Scimitar
KOS-MOS (Rarely use Herald, but she's a great choice for Dagmara)
Zenobia
Ursula
Brighid
Agate (Her party damage boosts make monsters like KOS-MOS, Zenobia and T-elos really shine)
Kasandra (Interchangeable with Aegeon and Newt and maybe Electra)
Dromarch
Boreas (With Dahlia for more offense and Vess for max healing along with Ursula)

Re: New Study Suggests That Playing Violent Video Games Leads To Increased Physical Aggression

link422007

correlation is not causation. Has the researchers presented their limitation of data? What are the backgrounds of the samples that the researchers obtained? Family history? Social history? Prior military or occupation history? What about the behavioral assessments before and after the trial?

The data without these factors seem incomplete and the researchers decided to call it a day before saying 'there is a correlation but not really.' There has been numerous studies done concerning this. I just wish these researchers would delve deeper rule out more factors. Because if this is all it's ever going to be, then it's better to let the neuropsychiatric, pediatric and family medicine doctors do more in-depth research into this study moving forward. There are still a lot of factors to consider before we can conclude a definitive causatíon.

Re: Hands On: The Future Of Gaming Is Cardboard, Thanks To Nintendo Labo

link422007

I don't have kids right now but I work as a pediatrician. Making stuff out of cardboard for kids especially for those recurrently confined to the hospital, they'll need something to look forward to even just to take their minds off of their sickness. Fortunately, I have a Switch and this is the perfect toy/software for them.

Re: Poll: Have Your Say on the Best Main Series 3D Mario and Zelda Games

link422007

64 era- Although Mario became the very successful and often times served as the base for the many, many 3D platformers that followed with varying degrees of success, I feel that its game design was as earth shattering as that of the Zelda 64 eras. Although I have reservations with Zelda at this time seeing as it was such a departure for the original, it more than made up for the fact that many of the design choices made during this era is still being used today or at least paved the way for game designers with their projects that soon followed. Ocarina of Time and Mario 64 was such a massive step up in the industry that it was hard to choose. In a very, very rare occurrence, I would have to place quantity over quality for this era, going to Zelda.

GC era- I've played Mario Sunshine and played Windwaker as well. Although both games are a shakeup to the formula used in 64, Windwaker's art style and design was what made it work. Besides, for over a decade and I still think Windwaker's art style is still not an eyesore, not only that, Windwaker had a much more varying number of challenges and memorable moments (fighting the Helmaroc King and the Giant Octos were a blast).

Wii era- This is where it goes to Mario for me. Galaxy was such a great game. Just when I thought that Mario met its limit with Sunshine, Nintendo surprised me with just how good the formula was in the Galaxy series of games. It just worked. Twilight Princess, however, suffers from a lengthy prologue that you would wish you could to skip, was too much like Ocarina of Time and had so much hand holding. It was the total opposite of what I've come to know about Zelda since playing the original it was like a an insult to the intelligence of the player base. Skyward Sword had this problem as well as the repetition of such an annoying boss (The Imprisoned) which is why I never finished it but points to them for the story on SS.

Wii U era- Not much new content was given here, 3D world wins by default and also because I never thought I'd have so much fun playing Cat Mario and laughing out loud when fighting against Meowser.

Switch Era- Odyssey vs Breath of the Wild, I honestly have no idea how to approach this seeing as in terms of gameplay and design over all, the two of them are just spectacular to play. Mario was a refinement of its past 3D games since the N64 era and has run away with it that it was so much fun. Whenever I play this game, I feel like a little kid again, Odyssey was such an enjoyable experience I hardly find in most AAA games these days. On the other hand, Breath of the Wild changed, shattered, and ruined open world games for me. Every time I finish just about another reading on a skull exam or a chest exam on the x-ray, I think of this game. When I look at the Negatoscope, I see another place that makes me think about how to storm a stronghold of Moblins and Bokoblins. Yes it is flawed, yet all games are, but this was such an addiction that I couldn't stop until I eventually had to, when I was sinking more than 100 hours already. Zelda wins this one for sure.

Re: Soapbox: Breath Of The Wild Is Amazing, But Is It The 3D Zelda That Enthusiasts Expected?

link422007

Anyone who complains that this game isn't Zelda like need to look into the first game.

Everything that was in between the first until now was unlike the original. This sounds pretentious as every contemporary soon after that stuck with the franchise was made by the third and fourth game. BOTW didn't have those contemporaries because the developers based it on the first game rather than reviewing the A Link to the Past or Ocarina of Time formulas which strayed from the original formula.

The freaking Mastersword didn't even have its concept cleared until the third game.

I don't understand Zelda fans' disingenuous stance on this. The first Zelda was an open world fantasy adventure set in a ruined medieval kingdom with unimpressive bosses and dungeons but the exploration of discovering secrets and puzzles. BOTW feels the same and as such is more Zelda than any of the titles that came before it.

Re: Chinese App, 'Pocket All-Stars Smash Bros.', Uses Nintendo, Capcom and SEGA Franchises

link422007

This is web browser rpg level. You cannot control your character but only your roster. This looks more like a game of chance than actual game.

I remember another browser game called i-Ninja that stole content from two anime (Bleach and Naruto) and basically created a trailer to hype people up with horrible gameplay elements. Good thing it was free too or I would have raged for wasting my money on horrible content.

Re: Nintendo is Making a Subtle Shift in Company Focus

link422007

Nintendo's competitors are multimedia giants. Sony and Microsoft make profits that are non-video game related as well. So it stands to reason that they expand and keep afloat. To think that they should focus otherwise is narrowminded and doesn't see that business adaptation is key for survival in any industry.

Re: Editorial: Mighty No. 9 and High Profile Disappointments Don't Invalidate Crowdfunding

link422007

It shouldn't. But people should take backing projects seriously like actual business investors do. Think of your $40 this time as something that is as good as it gets for an investment. If you are willing to back a product that you think is high quality, then better to read between the lines before forking over your money.

People are mad that this came out mediocre, they have had multiple chances to retract their investments for as far as 2 years with a year as a honeymoon period. I do not know why it took them 3 years to realize the production value problems placed by Comcept and the ambitious goals that it set borderline to unrealistic.

This is why I never supported Mighty Number 9 and why I placed my money elsewhere like Bloodstained, Shantae, etc. Hell, I would have donated to Shenmue III too seeing as that has more substance presented than Mighty Number 9 had.

Re: Good Smile Is At It Again, This Time With a Rather Handsome Skyward Sword Link Figure

link422007

Ah, I imagine the price for this would appreciate given time. You won't find a re-sale of this lower than its intended original price given that Good Smile does figurines like this made specifically to pre-order.

It's a good thing that there are stores here that do payment plans, I'll get mine at the beginning of 2017 and my payment would finish by september or october. and already saved my spot at a pre-order. You guys should definitely look for stores that have different payment plans

Re: Hong Kong Pokémon Fans Protest Over New Translation Issues with Sun and Moon

link422007

@Maxz The gist of what I can understand is that Cantonese Chinese do not like to be grouped in with mainlanders because they find mainlanders to be irritating due to some political tensions that's been raised regarding many of the government policies placed upon by the CCP on mainly autonomous Hong Kong.

There's been subtle hate coming from the Hong Kong Chinese against mainlanders due to this and being lumped together with mainlanders as well as the immense difficulty of adapting Mandarin and the Cantonese language alphabet is pretty much a reason for it.

Hebei and Jiangsu are vastly different from the southern provinces of Guangdong and Guangxi. Let's not forget Tibet and Xinjiang.

Re: Meet The Edgy And Mature Fan-Made Pokémon Game That Aims To "Fix" The Series

link422007

Fan games are made as either an homage or an experiment. Even then, I find the creation of fan games for the sole purpose of restructuring the original series with all that time and effort absolutely wasteful and useless. Time is a precious resource after all.

They should just put all that creativity into making a profitable product rather than a doomed one.

Re: Koei Tecmo Confirms That It Has Nintendo NX Software In Development

link422007

@PleaseUnderstan Mushroom Kingdom, Sarasa Land and Beanbean kingdom in place Wu, Wei, and Shu?

That sounds like a self-parody of Dynasty warriors, that would honestly be awesome!

But Fire Emblem and its continents of Akaneia, Judgral, Ylisse, Tellius, Elibe, Magvel, Valentia, Valm and that of Fates? It has more content and fits perfectly with the Warriorss Formula.

Re: Weirdness: The NES Zapper Just Became Much Deadlier

link422007

some people do not seem to understand cultural relativism.

There are countries in Asia where the ownership of firearms legally means jumping through a lot of hoops before earning a license, yet because of this strict compliance, black markets thrive and not for the middle class, who exactly buys them? Warlords and their death squads. Because I happen to live in one of those countries, I feel that criticizing Americans for their culture is kind of silly when we have knives pointed at our throats.

Honestly, if you're going to criticize a culture on firearms make sure you are coming off as having intellectual empathy. Because what Americans claim as a defense from mad tyrants is not entirely unfounded.

Re: Rumour: Retro Is Working On A Game It Pitched To Nintendo, And It's Not Metroid Prime 4

link422007

@rushiosan Dude, you sound like a jerkoff.

Kid Icarus was dead for multiple console lifetimes and its last iteration before the 3ds game was on the gameboy. Are you so self-entitled that you have to whine about it because they can't find anything worth to add on a game like Metroid or F-Zero? A console leap is nothing compared to all the dead franchises that existed since the NES era.

Re: Talking Point: Sweeping Internal Changes Show That Nintendo Is Ready To Tackle New Challenges

link422007

>Nintendo releases sequels

"Nintendo should be more ambitious! They need new IP!"

>Nintendo releases new IP

"Where's Star Fox!? Where's Metroid!? Where's Zelda!? Where's F-zero!?"

And you keep asking WHY NINTENDO doesn't listen to fans? I keep thinking that video game enthusiasts are in a state perpetual of demands. This has been an old saying before. As a guy who had a famicom, a SNES, N64, GC, PS1, PS2, Wii, PS3, I can tell you that some people here have nostalgia tinted glasses and suck as much as analyzing and rely more on what they feel as good rather than objectifying. They're stuck in a time when Video Games were still the new frontier, now it isn't and you should all accept the fact that progress has to slow down at some point. Maybe you should stop playing long hours of video games, find other hobbies you're going to love. Get out and experience life and talk to people. Obtain skills on your own like cooking or music. Just don't focus your hobbies on video games all the time. If you keep eating crackers, eventually you'll think that they're stale even when its given with honey and milk.

Re: Masahiro Sakurai Tackles Criticisms of Bonus Features in Games

link422007

I find it hilarious that people who insult others as weebs find it disturbing that they are playing a game made for weebs.

Fire Emblem has been that way even before the 'muh weebs' Fates game that asshats have been doing. The incest, the rape and all that jazz has been discussed before with one of FE's greatest games before Fates, Genealogy of the Holy War. Now if people are still disturbed about it, then go play Animal Crossing to make you feel comfortable. And please, not brutal and no perma-death? Why are you even playing FE anyway if you don't want the hard as nails difficulty but still like a challenge? Did you not like Dark Souls because of the same difficulty? Why should Fire Emblem adjust to different standards? The save feature may be horrible but I've never once complained in playing the game even if Radiant Dawn kicked my ass more often times than not. It's part of its charm and Fates can have that while also trying to rake in new fans.

My impression of people about the difficulty are either too weak to adjust for a new strategy, or too judgmental to other communities who now play the game too because of the additional features. Tell me again more about your accepting community, tell me again how everyone is good, tell me again how there are no exceptions, because the more you people say it, the more idiotic you look.

Those precious support points may be important in raising your army, but it's not a problem if it's not, you're going to have to adjust to them.

Re: Mighty No. 9 Delayed Until Early 2016

link422007

Off to the bargain bin with this. I'm glad I had second thoughts on this kickstarter and it became even more obvious now with the Red Ash pitch. With new info coming to light, it makes me wonder who is more awful at this point, Capcom or Inafune. Capcom may have dropped the ball with the Megaman series out of spite, but at least they tried to release content unlike this guy.
