@JJtheTexan Bad fix, since it's also for Europe mainland. Saying "Nintendo UK" would be as if I said "Nintendo Texas". An important territory, for sure, but not nearly the whole thing.
@Jack_Goetz Definitely, that's where I saw and subsequently bought one for second TV, and then another for on the go. Works perfectly fine so far. I wished I could have gotten the LAN version, but it doesn't really seem to exist (yet?), at least it's not actually listed on their website.
Co-op has been a part of the original game already. I think you'll find a number of people reminiscing about it, considering it was very early to have co-op for this kind of immersive game.
Funny, how people think the matchmaking problems are from no one playing anymore. They are happening because the servers were absolutely pummeled with record breaking amounts of requests. It's not only the game matchmaking itself. The reward requests giving experience after matches all timed out so you got no progession (although the error states you'll get them later) and Epic's friend platform also was hugely challenged. Game invites often timing out after a second or so.
Whenever you made it through the queue on the server, games were full in a split second.
Give it a day or three, and it will just work much better.
Honestly, if this is "without a doubt" the best game in the series, it should be a rock solid 10. The first one was great, and the second one one of my two games of my personal GOTY last year.
There should really be something about the price of the game in the article, and a link to the game page. I'm quite interested and thought if I should make a Japanese account... https://store-jp.nintendo.com/list/software/70010000035767.html
6380 Yen... 😳
Noping out here.
@stvnorman I got a "unknown country GB" and a couple of other messages when entering my address, but just pressing save again and going back, it showed correctly and I could order.
While interesting, it's not really news, is it? Most larger cooperations offer internships all the time... even at Nintendo there is more. Besides those jobs in the American HQ, there are numerous internship openings in the other main locations:
In Japan (Global HQ): https://www.nintendo.co.jp/jobs/internship/index.html These are called "internships", but really are one-day experiences. The Director course has you accompany a game director for a day, open to ten people (registration ends very soon!), the artwork track an art director, etc. Must be super exciting. But chances are impossible, probably?
@Yosher It's a pity you couldn't get one. I'm pretty sure that all shirts were available when I ordered mine, a Chaos M. Can't wait to wear it to work.
Thinking about it - anyone wanna swap? I have the unused gear code from the shirt, looking for a poster code. Write your mail address and I'll get in touch!
@Yosher I get that you are disappointed because you couldn't buy the shirt, and that a credit card was needed sucks if you don't have that. But I don't get the comment about them being live at a time were most people have to work or go to school... I ordered mine only on Sunday. And some wrote they bought theirs on Thursday already. That's plenty of time imo.
What bugs me much more is that I missed the poster. Those are much more interesting to me than gear I'll never use. The poster page is still up, and I still hope for the chance to grab one.
@ryancraddock Just a few days old, but these rather more exciting rewards were missed? https://my.nintendo.com/news/b3be229f5edd367e Four 3DS games available for coins. Not discounts, but the full games.
@Pod Ah, yes, that makes a lot of sense. I think developers will actually have better English knowledge than the average salary man, and depending on the team, I imagine they may not have such a strict requirement? But remembering his story, he probably studied to quite the proficient level. Must be rather interesting to work there every day.
@Pod To be honest, N3 means you can barely speak, and while N2 is construed as "business level", it really is not sufficient to work as a professional in an all-Japanese environment, unless you add up on top a lot more practice, but then JLPT will become irrelevant anyway. Any company that can afford to be an extremely selective hirer (like those on the list) would certainly not be satisfied with an N2 level.
@Supadav03 Before today, you got way less points for any game, no matter if bought on the console, or retail, or code. The stuff you linked from your log is from January, so that's why. Same codes would net you 900 points now (if they are all 59,99 over there).
@Supadav03 Actually, they do mention it, and you are wrong. From the MyNintendo website (UK):
For redeeming a download code, you automatically earn Gold Points worth the equivalent of 5% of the undiscounted Nintendo eShop price of that content at the time of redemption. Only commercially distributed download codes qualify for points.
Scrolling through the article for the third time, finding no mention of Golf Story. Searching for the term, seeing that everyone and their dog did the same in the comments.
The only conclusion: Nintendo Life editors misspelled "Golf Story". Ending up with "Rocket League" is quite the typo! But for real: at the very least, it should have been in the vote. No doubt it would end up top 5.
The preselected choices are odd... why no Golf Story or Gorogoa in there? I'd imagine GS to be a more popular vote than many on the list (surely topping out on Blaster Master Zero at least...)
@shani I'd agree... if the very same games weren't also available in Europe. Art of Balance for example: https://my.nintendo.com/rewards/8932f1fce34ada96 Only available until 1st October in Europe though, because they were released quite a while ago already.
What's wrong with the file management? Just checked and the numbering of file sizes is weird... but what else is bad about it? I don't recall ever using it as I had a hard disk attached basically from the beginning.
@ironside1911 You definitely get points based on the default eShop price. I don't know how that would make it the official eShop, but it certainly makes it an attractive alternative. Other online retailers have good offers for codes, too, so it's worth shopping around.
That would actually make a good NL article. I bet these alternatives aren't widely known yet, even among fans.
@ironside1911 nice comment. One point though: I think you're mistaken for of thing, as you should get the same points if you buy the game from MMOGA. I often get games via code as it saves money, and is actually quite convenient now that you can redeem them on the web. Since the start of my Nintendo I got gold points for every single game I got that way. Should be six or seven by now. Bunkering hundreds of unused points...:/ I'm glad to get Chase, and it may sound weird, but I kinda wished it would reduce the treasure chest by more than 10... At least it puts the points to use...
@Sakura I'm all for voting with wallets, but here it doesn't make sense to me, as it is a decent offer. Let's say there would be launch discounts on all games through my Nintendo - I'd be quite content with that.
I believe, not using this reward on purpose will not scream "free stuff", but just show up in the data as "discounts on older big name titles working better". And you don't want more discounts on old stuff games, do you?
I just realized that Persona is only 18£ digitally, even without this discount. The card version is annoyingly stable in price, 31£ on Amazon. Genuinely good offer, will bite with the reward now.
@Kolzig But US prices exclude taxes, while Euro prices include them. The VAT average in Europe is >20%. Add 20% onto the 23.60 EUR and you end up with 28.32.
I also envy those cheap prices in the US, but that $->€ conversion just doesn't work as the companies need to pay their taxes.
@Pahvi: That's completely not true, procedurally generated does not mean they are the same. It's the opposite. The boss formations are randomized and will never be the same between any two plays.
@gaDronilDdos So far we actually got more games before the US on Wii U. At least Puddle and Zen Pinball 2 were here first, and both by a margin. IIRC only MSF came out first in the US, but that appeared rather quickly here too.
For some of the multiple choice questions maybe it would have been better to limit the number of choices? For example, everyone is going to want those changes in the improvement question. This means the results will basically not say that anything, but limiting the maximum choices would deliver the "most desired changes".
Nintendo Land is quite meaty for a pack-in, plus a number of strong downloads that seem to pull a fair share of gamers. Trine2 community on Miiverse is quite active.
Also almost all retail games are available as downloads, which as some stated before don't go into this stat. They should have quite an impact, shouldn't they? I wouldn't be surprised if the effective attachment rate is actually even higher than for Wii.
Even though square's DLC for some games is outrageous, I don't see the slightest bad thing for this one. got the Japanese version and it has at least 60 or 70 songs in it. Then there are about 40 or so download songs 150 yen each. To be honest, I'd go as far to say that 90p per track is a pretty good price. Certainly lower than what I'd have expected, and much cheaper than for any other music game I bought songs for.
Only thing I wonder about: songs for the Japanese game were reduced for 100 yen at start and then went up. Are the 90p a start offer only?
Hmm, so this is a kickstarter for a game that is already finished, but funding is needed for cartridges? How about releasing it digitally instead, then the funding problem would be solved.
@LTD: How do you get the idea it would only have six holes? The trailer says "Play 108 holes in 6 far-out spots". Likely means six distinct courses with 18 holes each.
Am I the only commenter that read the article? Iwata says that development costs (not game prices) will rise if you fully employ 3DS tech. And then Zach wonders if it may affect game prices. But everyone takes it as if it says that the prices will rise.
Maybe the headline of this article could have been written a bit less lurid to prevent such misinterpretation.
Anyway, just like everyone else here I hope games won't get more expensive.
