Watched the trailer yesterday and tried to convince myself it might be even remotely as good as SSX but... nahhhh.

I'm surprised it's made by people who worked on the SSX franchise previously. What did they do, exactly?

I preordered this. I played 2 minutes of the 3DS version once upon a time and watched 80% of the trailer for this one. Otherwise I'm going in blind. At £60, I better like it. There is fighting in it, right?

Yeah this is a better than average game. Not great, but a 6-7 in my book. I played it through in 1 sitting with a friend on PS4 (using the game share feature, which actually worked pretty well) and we had a blast. Probaby not so fun single player, mind.

One guy has a special attack which involves him pooing into his hand and hurling it at the enemy, so yup..7/10.

@moroboshi they did patch in 60fps for PS4. And it isn't that difficult.

New area? How big we talking?? Might double dip here. Played it on PS4 a lot, NG+ was harrrd! And I've tried a few no death runs, always seem to die about 10 times though!

@YummyHappyPills First Ys game here too. Watched a few videos but sort of going in blind. I want to get it at launch but I also want Octopath at launch and don't want to be playing them at the same time so something has to give. I guess if this launches in a bit of a state it would help make my mind up and I can hold off and play Octopath while it's fixed up. But if I hear good things day one I'll probably jump on it and Octopath'll wait. Choices choices!!!

@idtgatt I did NG+ on PS4. Was pretty tough in places but I had mad skills by the end. The 800 dash trophy was.....interesting.

Not much to say with it all being in Japanese but it looks good?

One of my most anticipated for the year, I hope it has more to it story wise than BD1 and 2 ever did. It seems to be better in that department based on the demo.

Well the header image looked like the cutscene in FF7 where the Tiny Bronco gets shot down at first glance, so now I kinda want to play that, but I don't know. I'm chilling on the sofa listening to music and drinking tea at the moment. Like @Spectra I'm also on the last chapter of Ni No Kuni 2 so would like to finish that up, and then come back to mop up the aspects I'm interested in once I've seen the credits roll. On the Switch front I will hopefully play some more Owlboy. Some guys probably coming round tomorrow so it'll be Everybody's Tennis and maybe some Mario Kart. Really looking forward to Mario Tennis!

So just treading water until God of War really, I got caught up in the review hype and put a preorder in.

Ni no Kuni 2 on PS4 and Owlboy on Switch for me. I'm quite impressed with Owlboy so far, actually.

@BensonUii Basically what you're saying is it's a different culture, therefore it's bad. I often mention Nintendo on PS and have no problem, but then I have other stuff to say too. Trouble is you see the same people popping up just to talk about Nintendo without ever really contributing to the topic at hand and they rightly get knocked back for it. As I say, the culture might not be the same as it is here, and I agree that the mods don't always get it right, but I promise it's a cool community 👍🏻

@BensonUii Well I've been on PS the same amount of time you've been on here and generally find it a great place with very nice people.

I'm not a big poster here by comparison but NL are guilty of one or two crazies too.

I have to say, the weird NL/PS rivalry is quite funny, though. "PS readers are the worst!" Uhhu ookaayy!

@mikegamer I'm kind of thinking PS4 since it'll look so good in higher res with HDR but I don't deny I'd probably get more mileage out of a Switch version.

@gortsi why don't you think there are power issues though? I can easily see them needing more time to better optimise the game for Switch. PS4 and Xbox have bigger overheads so developers can simply be a bit lazier.

Look at some games on PS4, off the top of my head games like EDF, Evil Within 1, even 2D games like Bro Force struggle, or at least struggled at launch due to poor optimisation, and that's on more powerful hardware. It's not that the Switch isn't capable, it's just not as easily capable.

Pretty sure it will show up on Switch, why wouldn't it? Likely just allowing time to optimise for the weaker hardware. Or perhaps they dont want to take the spotlight off the Crash Switch port, or even want to see how it performs before committing resources.

Anyway, I'm sure it'll show up next year at some point.

Boys and girls, having beaten the game (but not 100%) I've taken myself off this and I'm playing Zelda now. I will get the expansion pass soon now that new quests are included. But out of interest are these new quests pretty similar to the format of the existing ones? Any new voiced cut scenes or extra depth?

Shame it sucks. Big fan of Cool Boarders, SSX, 1080 and the like but this game left me cold (lols).

Cool, i'll have a watch later on. What's a "mini" direct, though? Are we expecting a full fat direct later, or...?

1080 was awesome, but a SSX beater? Not a chance. Still, these days I'll take whichever snowboarding games I can get so excited to hear more...

Xenoblade 2. But, I have yet to play Zelda.

Although I'm looking at a Switch game shaped box under the tree right now...

@QwertyQwerty sure.. my point is that personally I am not having a tough time ignoring the technical shortcomings. Appreciate it won't be the case for everyone though. Especially with crashes.

The character design is fine as far as I'm concerned. Some of it is a bit much for my tastes but then there are certain songs, locations and story beats that resonate less with me than others so it's not a big deal. All in all the game is great and I'd rather have some mad character designs with a few questionable choices over a bunch of generic knights and mages.

@QwertyQwerty Fortunately I have had no crashes (touch wood!!) but I agree the performance is kinda janky. But to be honest I don't expect PS4 Pro performance from my Switch, and after a while the technical problems drift into the back ground. Perhaps if I was playing other high resolution games along side this it'd be more noticeable. Its fine both docked and portable for me though.

@Ralizah Yeah it's funny really. £30 is around 65-70% of the cost of the full base game. But you can almost guarantee you won't get the equivalent of 65-75% new content! Still, I wouldnt mind the idea of spending £70-£80 on the base game alone as I reckon it's worth it. Of course, mileage with vary for everybody.

@cadaver138 Glad they have DLC in the works. I know people moan about being sold incomplete games but when it's a game you're loving it's nice to play knowing there is more to come..!

How good is this game though?! A good chunk through chapter 7 now, really loving it.

@Grawlog agree, and I'm not against it, we could just do without the fan fair and slow trickle of releases. Just drop them all on the store already and don't ask £20 a go and I'd be okay with it lol.

Not interested in overpriced ports of past FF games, I already have multiple ways of playing those..

New RPGs like Octopath, Bravely etc please!

@Paraka it wasn't awful by any stretch. The samey locations got boring, the story was a bit meh, the combat system had a lot of layers but they didn't actually add any real strategic depth to the gameplay. The music was ok, but after a while all piano got old.

Like I say it wasn't BAD but a 6/10, I guess. SE seem pretty confident with the pricing on this one so hopefully it's an improvement overall.

I'll play the demo in an hour or so, but right now I'm more excited about Octopath Traveler.

As for Bravely Third I'll always be up for that. Maybe they should "reboot" it somehow for Switch, though...

I'm a cat lover but found this game dull and uninspired. 2-3 hours then deleted, sadley!

Taro is awesome and Nier Automata is incredible!

It's not great, but I can accept it. It's kind of a shame, because some of the locations are so beautiful. But it's easy enough to get over. Maybe they'll fix it up a bit with a patch. That'd be a bonus.

I set RGB to full on my Switch and dropped the sharpness on my TV down a bit to tidy up the jaggies and it looks nicer.
