Lost Sphear, published by Square Enix and made by the team behind I am Setsuna, isn't too far away from its 23rd January Western release on the Switch. In this case the story revolves around attempting to return memories to the world, and in terms of smart mechanics it boasts of the ability to move your characters around between moves in battle.
Square Enix is now offering gamers a taste of the RPG, with a demo going live in Europe. You can find it in a News article on the system or by tracking down the game page in the eShop.
We'll certainly be checking that out to see how the localised version is shaping up; we expect the same demo will also be live in North America soon enough.

I may check it out. Possibly next year, after I've finished xenoblade chronicles 2.
Alrightalright, I'll be getting on this. Hope it's better than Setsuna because that was...
SquareEnix said the Physical Retail version could be ordered from SquareEnix directly.
But... actually we can pre-Order from Playasia or E-Bay...
I loved Setsuna so if the reviews would be favorable I will buy Lost Sphear for sure. In recent years Square with games like Bravely Default, Setsuna, and Octopath earned fans respect again. But we’re still waiting for a proper FF Tactics and Front Mision.
i cannot wait for the demo!!
I'm starting to regret buying a switch last month, still on zelda with Mario waiting in the wings and so many good games comming, I just can't find enough time, I have to work and eat and sleep. Universe damn you, you sexy little hybrid you.
@Anti-Matter Play-Asia must have some deal with SE about it or Has a distributer that gives them a lot of exclusive games and consoles. Also if preordered within a certain time from SE you got Lost Sphear for $40.
I have seen a lot of limited edition / Asian-English games on there that I have seen no where else. When you it it from eBay more than likely, you are getting it from People who order from either of these places.
I was foolish enough to wait on Preordering the NTSC/US Pikachu 2DS XL and now its completely out of stock, more than likely never to come back in-stock.
@Bobbycuckoo So you don't regret buying a Switch, you regret that you don't have enough time to play it.
I tried the Japanese Demo a while back, but honestly, I was just randomly selecting stuff to get through that first fight. After that, I gave up on it for the time being. I wasn't big on Setsuna, and based on what I saw, Octopath is going to be more my style, but once I'm done with Xenoblade, I'll probably give the demo another go. I liked that positioning was a part of the game, even though I have no clue how much it'll matter through
Anyways, I wonder if that rumored January Direct is going to happen. It's about time we get some information on what the next are going to look like. I wouldn't mind if Octopath made it out sooner rather than later next year.
I bought Setsuna but gave up on it after a few hours, it's ok but not as good as the 16 bit games that inspired it. I've downloaded the demo so I'll be giving it a go later so we'll see
@kyleforrester87 - I don't think that is entirely a bad thing. It definitely felt held back, budget or otherwise.
Having said that I feel the system they have for the combat has room for improvement and make the future games in the same vein much better.
Also, if this succeeds, we may see S-E consider Bravely Third for Switch.
I'm really tempted to purchase Setsuna whilst it's on sale and I can use the Paypal discount too. The piano music, snowy landscapes and bleak story really appeal to me. I just know that it will go on the pile of shame though...
I am Setsuna - 5/10 (Too much piano)
(just joking)
@Steven_the_2nd
Aye, twas a bait and switch.
Get it........
I'll get my coat.
downloaded the demo, will play it tomorrow
@Paraka it wasn't awful by any stretch. The samey locations got boring, the story was a bit meh, the combat system had a lot of layers but they didn't actually add any real strategic depth to the gameplay. The music was ok, but after a while all piano got old.
Like I say it wasn't BAD but a 6/10, I guess. SE seem pretty confident with the pricing on this one so hopefully it's an improvement overall.
I'll play the demo in an hour or so, but right now I'm more excited about Octopath Traveler.
As for Bravely Third I'll always be up for that. Maybe they should "reboot" it somehow for Switch, though...
@kyleforrester87 - That's all fair. I, technically, feel genuinely similar (except the music, I enjoyed that greatly). I am just seeing it for what it was; an attempt to see if a battle system like that can take off. From what I see that was its highlight, so hopefully they can build around that in the next one.
Will download for sure.
I'll try this. Although with Xenoblade just released, the more interesting looking Octopath on the horizon, and me finally getting into FFXIV... I think I have more than enough life-consuming RPGs in my life.
Really liked a lot about Setsuna, so as long as this game improves on the few problems I had with it, I think this will end up being another great game from Tokyo RPG Factory. So bring on that NA demo!
Ctrl+C ‘I am Setsuna’ Ctrl-V
Oh cool. But smack between Ninokuni2 and Monster Hunter World. No way I can drop 170 dollars on videogames in a month.
I'll come back to this after I'm done with AAA game releases that are up early next year.
It is also available in the NA eshop
Octopath Traveler will be the Switch's best RPG, but there's nothing wrong with having some good-but-not-great ones like this one seems to be.
I have not enjoyed it, I'll skip this game.
actually i dont like it ...it feels too cheap, too mobile-like and uninspiring ..i dont like the world, graphics and music ...i just dont like or enjoy the demo
Dammit - I preordered the game on a gut feeling but after the demo - seems pretty meh... will cancel my preorder.
