Shmup fans will be delighted to hear that 3 old-school style shooters are headed to the Switch on 14th May. While they might not have the prestige of some of the best shmup games on the Switch, they come in at a low price of £13.49 for the trio on the eShop. In North America it will also be possible to buy Armed 7 DX, Satazius Next and Wolflame individually it seems.
These three shmup games are from the vaults of Astro Port studio and have been lovingly remastered for the Switch. Here's a bit more info from the publisher, Storybird:
With ARMED SEVEN DX, discover 7 stages of pure mecha-shooting action with customisable weapons. Use all laser beams, space rockets and missiles to suit your needs. Gear up and fight!
Discover SATAZIUS NEXT the new classic shoot them up for your console. Completely redesigned and animated for more gaming pleasure, Satazius Next takes you in a galaxy far away. Lost on planet Agano, resist the attacks of space pirates and save the universe from destruction. Aim to kill to defeat your enemies.
With WOLFLAME, defend the living humanity of planet Sig Fildonia. Your mission is to destroy the invaders military base and turn Operation Wolflame into a successful resistance campaign.
Enter the futuristic resistance and use all your skills and weapons to defeat alien forces from eradicating all life forms.
Features:
- 3 Shoot Them Up classics on 1 cartridge.
- All games feature a wide range of customisable weapons.
- Four levels of game difficulty: from easy to insane.
- Various Shmup Styles to accommodate all players.
It sounds like quite a cool package for shmup fans and collectors will no doubt want to opt for the limited edition boxed copy, although this comes at a bit of a price...

Really great set of games, patiently awaiyting the arrival of my physical version.
Satazius looks excellent x
Is the physical europe only?
Lol, the descriptions definitely have that All Your Base feeling going on.
Pre ordered at PixelHeart.eu for Wii U ❤️
I came across two of these on the eshop a few weeks ago. They look great. Added them to my wish list right away.
Expensive compared to Steam...about twice the price.
I’ll toss these on the wishlist.
@Aurumonado No, it can be pre-ordered in USA from VGNYsoft and in CA it can be pre-ordered from VideoGamesPlus
You have no chance to survive! Make your time!!!
I'll buy it. Ouch... I see they're sold separate.
Waiting on a review to see how the ports have been handled. Individual games had decent reviews on Bullet Heaven but these were the Steam/Dreamcast versions. If reviews turn up decent I'll be plumping for the physical since I don't have any Shmup representation in my collection. They look a bit rough around the edges but gameplay looks solid so 🤞
I previewed the Dreamcast version of Armed 7 when it launched, it was very fun!

Pixels are not supposed to rotate. In arecade gThese little things matter to me, sorry.
3 Shoot Them Up classics on 1 cartridge!
The person who wrote that might be Japanese
Just waiting for my physical copy to arrive from PixelHeart.

Pixels are not supposed to rotate; they never did on classic hardware and in classic games. That's a lazy shortcut and these little things matter. It puts me off, sorry.
Each one seems like a different rip-off of gradius, Aerofighters and thunder force.
By the looking at the graphics i am a bit reluctant. I have almost all shmup on Switch, Raiden 5, Sine Mora Ex, Ikaruga, Damaku 3, Ghost Blade HD, R-Type Dimension, Anger Force, Twin Bee, Tengai, Dragon Blazer, Esprade, Vasara collection, Rolling Gunner and more have better graphics than these 3.
Might grab them during deep sales.
Physical has just been delayed, for the UK at least. Shame really but understandle. Not sure why they left it so late. It's only two days until the originally scheduled release.
