@PepperMintRex I think Embracer are done purchasing following the Saudi fall-through. If anything, theyve been cancelling and projects and selling off their studios
When they've purchased second party studios before like Next Level Games or Retro Studios, it's been based on the prior working relationship that has seen those studios match Nintendo's culture, style and ethos. Hopefully we'll continue to see Nintendo work with more new studios and cultivate additional positive relationships.
This is great news. Based on the rumour that Take Two were going to quietly phase out or shut down Private Division, we get those jobs saved plus a AA publisher that continues to bring alternative titles from what big business will.
I wonder if the announcement of the plan to announce the Switch successor was a double-edged sword. It's gotten people excited and investors aware of future plans, but the Switch sales slowing leading into Christmas is signs of people holding off and waiting for the forthcoming announcement.
@RubyCarbuncle "Not everyone likes Mario games or other types of games you and I like and I think everyone here needs to get over that."
While I fully agree with your sentiment, I see where the comments are coming from. The IGN reviewer doesn't have to like Mario but should still provide an objective review on pros and cons.
If it was a case of "not everyone likes x game" youd end up seeing Metal Gear or Final Fantasy games get 1/10s by people who only like first person shooters or 3D platformers reviewing them
With the reveal of Xenoblade taking us into March, I was previously thinking January 2025 reveal for the Switch 2 and June release (just in time for Summer), but it could be a March reveal and September release.
Wii U games I still want on Switch are Paper Mario Color Splash, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, Wind Waker HD, Twilight Princess HD and Yoshi's Woolly World, Sonic Lost World, Game & Wario
@CooCooKaChoo it's one of those ones where I'd speculate Microsoft bought Rare just so that Nintendo didn't have them anymore rather than because they planned to do anything with them.
@Ulysses I agree it sucks we wont see these games on NSO, but it sounds like the best way to experience them will be getting this collection on physical cartridge
Im guessing they'll still add Stairway to the Destined Duel, Dungeon Dice Monsters and Destiny Board Traveler to complete the OG GBA games
Although doubtful, imagine they added in sixth gen console games like Forbidden Memories, Falsebound Kingdom, Duelists of the Roses and Dawn of Destiny
I reckon Switch 2 will be revealed early 2025 (they confirmed it would be revealed/announced before the end of March), and then the hype begins. It'll either be a May/June release just in time for Summer, or an August/September console release.
@Yoshi3 You're mixing up the role of a producer and director.
The director oversees the design, story, world, team and creation of the game itself
The producer oversees the business aspect, ensuring deadlines are hit, that demos/trailers are completed on time, that contracts are signed, budgets aren't exceeded.
I love that three of the companies are filing an appeal even though the screenshots/promotional material include the likes of Pikachu, Charmander and Squirtle.
Iizuka took over Sonic in 2008 after Naka left, so I don't think he had as much involvement or awareness with the Chao Garden stuff, especially when it was on mobiles and Dimps' GBA games.
Best wait until he leaves/retires and maybe the next Sonic Team head will see the value...
or someone can interview Yuji Naka in prison for his opinion on a standalone Chao Garden as the creator.
@Zeebor15 yeah, when its a code in the box, you can sell it on a website such as eBay instead of redeeming it and recoup some of that money from buying the bundle.
@Zeebor15 One of my theories on a possible reason for that is that while the Switch Sports deal may get purchased by new users, a lot of the Switch OLED audience is existing Switch owners upgrading.
The existing Switch owners may already have Super Mario Bros Wonder in which case reselling the code becomes an option.
@Porky I saw that too about DM6. My first thought was that Amazon may just be mistaken as that isn't specified anywhere official other than their listing.
But on second thought, your analysis makes complete sense. If they include WW:SDD as a separate game then they have no need to translate Duel Monsters 6 and would keep it in Japanese.
I hope what youre thinking happens and that we also get the rest in English. I'll be playing lots of Yu-Gi-Oh on the Switch it seems.
I hope theyre all translated/localised. It would be pretty cool to get the Stairway to the Destined Duel in place of Duel Monsters 6 as well.
It says "and more" so The Sacred Cards is probably coming too. I wonder if we'll see any console games like Forbidden Memories, Duelists of the Roses or Falsebound Kingdom.
In response to the speculation about when the Switch successor will be announced, I genuinely think they'll leave it until January so that they can get one more Holiday season out of the Switch/OLED/Lite.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For LEGO Horizon Adventures
@MatoFilipovic this wasn't developed by the same studio as the other LEGO games
Re: Sonic Team Producer Says Revivals Of Older Entries Remain Appealing
SEGA would be best just working with the developer behind Project P06 to give their game some polish and release it as an official remake.
Re: Feature: Sonic Boom At 10 - The Good, Bad & Ugly Of Sonic The Hedgehog’s Brief, Nintendo-Exclusive Sub-Franchise
The cartoon would make me laugh out loud with its fourth wall breaks and self-awareness

@Spider-Kev Nice. We're twinning!
Re: Nintendo Reconfirms Release Windows For Major Upcoming Switch Games
@Spider-Kev I'm now officially gonna start referring to the game as "Pokemon Za", ill see if it catches on in my friend group
Nice name by the way

Chose January in the poll, lets kick off the new year in style with a big announcement after the holiday season is out of the way

Re: Nintendo Reconfirms Release Windows For Major Upcoming Switch Games
@Olliemar28 went for Brothership and Prime 4. Xenoblade and DK are remakes so it would feel unfair to pick them over brand new experiences.
Re: Nintendo Reconfirms Release Windows For Major Upcoming Switch Games
@Olliemar28 multiple choice then? 😂 I can't pick just one
Re: Nintendo Reconfirms Release Windows For Major Upcoming Switch Games
An "all of the above" option? I plan to get them all minus Fitness Boxing 😂

Croc 2 was a great improvement, so I'm hoping this paves the way for that to be remastered.

I know others have already mentioned it, but Diddy Kong Racing on NSO would be a big win.
Id also like to see the Donkey Kong Land games on the GB NSO

@BLAZINOAH I agree. This more plastic-looking art style reminds me of Sonic Heroes.
Re: Random: Shigeru Miyamoto Apparently Isn't Credited In Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom
Miyamoto deserves to be in "Special Thanks" section for every game series that he was involved in the creation of originally for the rest of his life.

The Switch 2 following up by adding the accurate pointer control tracking that was missing is a win for me.
I hope they'd patch existing Switch games to use it, such as the Pikmin series.

@X68000 I don't know if its intentional or not, but Big Run gives me "We don't have Outrun but are trying to have our own version" vibes

@kkslider5552000 now they just need to give us an English version of "The Frog for Whom The Bell Tolls" on GB

Re: Konami Reveals More Game Boy Titles For Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection

There were only four Blue Eyes cards and Kaiba has three. The fourth belonged to Yugi's grandpa but was torn by Kaiba because he was being a Heel.
