The Switch has been my favorite Nintendo generation so far. Not suggesting in any way the previous ones were bad. And I have enjoyed every single one of them. The switch just edged it with the portability.
It does get to a point where you wonder who is still buying it. But it is what it is. Mario Kart 9 or whatever they end up calling it is going to be a nother monster hit for Nintendo... A system seller all on it's own.
I never made an innapropriate comment though, which is the very issue of this type of thing. People can't see what you posted and assume it was bad in some way.
Not sure what rules I was breaking though, the comment section should promote an healthy discussion on this subject, and not merely be an echo chamber for the merits of the article. Whichever side you fall on.
Totally different things, Nintendo were in s new unknown market with both the Wii and DS, so when their successors came along mostof the casual gamers had simply moved on.
The Switch is a totally different proposition, that being said we do not really know the price as yet.
I think we are all overlooking why Nintendo have gone down the hybrid route. If done right the portability aspect leans itself to changing and upgrading more.
This was awesome............ And thank god sombody told Nintendo to simply go with a number, rather than some abstract name for the next generation Switch console...
Up to now Valve have sold around 10 million units of the steamdeck, not sure how this is not niche, or not even a slightest bit of competition for the Nintendo Switch.
I also think comparing the Switch's sales in 2024 when it's been on the market for 7 years or so is not a fait indicator either, and even then the Steamdeck could only manage 10%.
Nintendo had an issue producing software for the original Switch console, which was why they devoted a whole E3 event to Breath of the wild.
Pretty sure this is not happening this time round, as it's pretty obvious with the releases on the Switch over the last three years, most games have been rather generic updates of software already availanble for the Switch.
It's just so obvious their development teams have been working hard on producing software for their new hardware.
If this is actually true, which at this point I am taking it with a massive intake of salt. As there have been so many reveal dates from the Switch leaked pretty much every week of every month, for the last three years or so.
My take or prediction was for the Switch to hit in 2025, with a release either before or after summer. And I am pretty sure Nintendo will go with their original Switch reveal. A stealth reveal trailer, which will show some breif clips of games running on the device, just like they did with Mario Odyssey. Then another big planned showcase/direct showing off softwareand more details of the hardware a couple of months before the consoles release.
Not sure why we are expecting them to do anything differently this time round.
Well I guess the leakers have to be correct at some point, they have been claiming the Seitch 2 will be announced pretty much every week of every month.... for the last three years or so.

@MathByThePixel,
Same in our house. Anything I buy has to go through a committee wheras all her purchases neve seem to get the same scrutiny.
Re: Talking Point: What We Expect From The Switch 2 Direct
@dazzleshell,
I was wondering that. Although I love the original pro controller. My original launch one is still going strong.
However I do want a new one and will not push the button until I know if a new model is being released.
Re: Talking Point: What We Expect From The Switch 2 Direct
A new console and games ???

@IronMan30,
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a beast.
Re: Nintendo Confirms Removal Of Switch Online SNES Game
This is more than likely a licensing issue. Sad but not that big of a deal in the overall scheme of things.

So basically this is a great idea and I am glad Nintendo have won an award for their inclusivity.
As any other comment that differs from this line will be deleted as it's innapropriate, offensive, or arguing, which brings me to my previous comment.
Which has also been deleted ...

Re: Random: Astro Bot "Almost Outdid Nintendo At Its Own Game", Jokes Reggie
@Serpenterror,
Astro bot has no originality just rips every Nintendo game off.
Odyssey is just more epic in my own humble opinion, Mario is an institution at this point.

Re: Poll: So, What Did You Think Of The Switch 2 Reveal?
@SoIDecidedTo,
And a 2 does not do that, the Playstation barand has done this for four generations now. I would suggest gouing for a name is the wrong way to go.

Re: Poll: So, What Did You Think Of The Switch 2 Reveal?
@Res462,
A solid 10 from me, nothing more or less than I was expecting. Today is a great day... much love.
Re: Poll: So, What Did You Think Of The Switch 2 Reveal?
@Res462,
Very similar, the only new game being odyssey.
Re: Reaction: Nintendo Pins Hopes On Familiar Fun With Switch 2
@Arcsol,
As much as this sounds like a good idea, I very much doubt it.
Re: Reaction: Nintendo Pins Hopes On Familiar Fun With Switch 2
They have every chance and are avoiding their own unique pitfalls already it seems.
Re: Poll: So, What Did You Think Of The Switch 2 Reveal?
@Res462,
It's exactly what they did last time... so why expect anything different?
Re: Feature: Everything You Missed In The Switch 2 Mario Kart Reveal - Characters, Features, Easter Eggs
@Ade117,
Art style as well. Astrobot does look better than Mario odyssey, but it's not as noticanble because it's more cartoom style visuals.
Re: Poll: So, What Did You Think Of The Switch 2 Reveal?
@progx,
Totally agree with you, they have just kept things as simple as possible, This will be a beast just like the original.
Re: Poll: So, What Did You Think Of The Switch 2 Reveal?
@abe_hikura,
Without a doubt.
Re: Poll: So, What Did You Think Of The Switch 2 Reveal?
@progx,
I thought Swith plus or up........ although anthing with a U in it was probably kryptonite as far as Nintendo was concerned.
Re: Poll: So, What Did You Think Of The Switch 2 Reveal?
@WoodyDonut,
Or some other strange name.
Re: Poll: So, What Did You Think Of The Switch 2 Reveal?
@progx,
Or Wii 2.
Re: Poll: So, What Did You Think Of The Switch 2 Reveal?
@AussieMcBucket,
You said it.......... waht did you ecpect.
Re: Switch 2: Hardware Gallery - Take A Closer Look At Nintendo's Lovely New Switch
@Dev1024,
To be honest it's not all that important, after all the Switch 2 was always goiung to look pretty similar to the original.
Re: Switch 2: Hardware Gallery - Take A Closer Look At Nintendo's Lovely New Switch
@Baircade,
I would not buy they one if I were you.
Re: Poll: So, What Did You Think Of The Switch 2 Reveal?
@AussieMcBucket,
Hate to say it..... but you do sound a little entitled.
Re: Poll: So, What Did You Think Of The Switch 2 Reveal?
@Banjo,
That is the way I operate, why anybody cares is however a mystery. Great news about the reveal though.
Re: Poll: So, What Did You Think Of The Switch 2 Reveal?
@clianvXAi,
Only to the core minorities, everyone else will be over the moon with the new reveal.
Re: Poll: So, What Did You Think Of The Switch 2 Reveal?
@CaleBoi25,
Mario Kart is their best selling game so no woder they showed it on the new system.
Re: Poll: So, What Did You Think Of The Switch 2 Reveal?
@IronMan30,
Well at least it's been revealed, happy days...

Re: Rumour: 'Switch 2' Will Reportedly Be Officially Revealed This Thursday

I still do not think it is direct competition, even valve themselves said it was not.

Totally agree.

@IronMan30,
At this point the core fans are so jaded by these seemingly endless reveal of leaked reveals.
While the mass majority of Switch owners are unaware of all this speculation, or the fact it's even being discussed on niche internet forums.

Re: Rumour: 'Switch 2' Will Reportedly Be Officially Revealed This Thursday
@PeteW,
So competition from very Niche products like the Steamdeck and portable handheld PC tablet devices.... so in reality no competition at all.

@splinters,
He just puts so much out there, he is bound to get something right at some point. Even a broken clock is right twice a day,

Re: Switch 2 'Indentations' Make It Incompatible With Original Switch Dock, Says Genki
@EarthboundBenjy,
To be honest the new dock most likely has a fan, so you would really need two of those anyways.
